This paper describes new moving target detection technique combining two algorithms to detect targets and reject clutters in video frame images for surveillance system: One obtains the region of moving target using phase correlation method using $N{\times}M$ sub-block images in frequency domain. The other uses adaptive threshold using learning weight for extracting target candidates in subtracted image. The block region with moving target can be obtained using the characteristics that the highest value of phase correlation depends on the movement of largest image in block. This technique can be used in camera motion environment calculating and compensating camera movement using FFT phase correlation between input video frame images. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm accurately detects target(s) with a low false alarm rate in variety environment using the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve.
This paper presents constructing transmitter and receiver by using a direct sequence spread spectrum techniques to DPSK (Differential Phase-Shift Keying) scheme in underwater acoustic communication. Since DPSK signal can be demodulated if the receiver knows only the phase difference between the adjacent bits, DPSK receiver structure has the advantage of being simplified. In the conventional receiver, two adjacent symbols of transmitted signal before despread are passed to the transition correlator that detects data by comparing maximum correlation outputs. At this time, the error for maximum value of the correlator output may increase because of low SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) or high Doppler shift frequency according to the underwater channel. In this paper, we propose a method for accurate detection result using the width as well as the magnitude among outputs produced by the correlator. The performances of the proposed method was evaluated by simulation and lake trial data.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of multiple trellis coded modulation applied to continuous phase frequency shift keying (MTCM/CPFSK) for the noncoherent receiver without channel state information (CSI) on the interleaved Rician fading channel. In this system, the squared cross-correlation between the received signal and a candidate signal is used as the branch metric of the Viterbi decoder. To obtain the bit error performance of this system, we analyze the approximated pairwise error probability (PEP) and the exact PEP. We also derive the equivalent normalized squared distance (ENSD) and compare it with the ENSD of the noncoherent receiver with perfect CSI. Simulation results are also provided to verify the theoretical performance analysis.
A novel method for extracting frequency slippage signal from radar full pulse sequence is presented. For the radar full pulse sequence received by radar interception receiver, radio frequency (RF) and time of arrival (TOA) of all pulses constitute a two-dimensional information sequence. In a complex and intensive electromagnetic environment, the TOA of pulses is distributed unevenly, randomly, and in a nonstationary manner, preventing existing methods from directly analyzing such time series and effectively extracting certain signal features. This work applies Gaussian noise insertion and structure function to the TOA-RF information sequence respectively such that the equalization of time intervals and correlation processing are accomplished. The components with different frequencies in structure function series are separated using empirical mode decomposition. Additionally, a chaos detection model based on the Duffing equation is introduced to determine the useful component and extract the changing features of RF. Experimental results indicate that the proposed methodology can successfully extract the slippage signal effectively in the case that multiple radar pulse sequences overlap.

The detection performances, in this paper, are derived according to combination of the multiband GNSS signals in broadband jamming environments. The detection probabilities depending on the false alarm probabilities are derived and presented via Monte-Carlo simulation under the assumption as follows: the GNSS signals are perfectly orthogonal and simultaneously received by the receiver using non-coherent correlation.

It has been shown that the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing systems is significantly degraded when spatial correlation exists between transmit and receive antenna pairs. In this paper, we investigate designs of a new statistical precoder for spatial multiplexing systems with maximum likelihood (ML) receiver which requires only correlation statistics at the transmitter. Two kinds of closed-form solution precoders based on rotation and power allocation are proposed by means of maximizing the minimum E tlidean distance of joint symbol constellations. In addition, we extend our results to linear receivers for correlated channels. We provide a method which yields the same profits from the proposed precoders based on a simple zero-forcing (ZF) receiver. The simulation shows that 2dB and 8dB gains are achieved for ML and ZF systems with two transmit antennas, respectively, compared to the conventional systems.

In the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, non-orthogonal multiple access (: NOMA) has been considered as a promising technology, to increase the channel capacity. In NOMA, the multiple users share the channel resources and multiplex simultaneously. Recently, for the stronger channel user, it was reported that the bit-error rate (: BER) performance with interactive mobile users is degraded, compared to the BER of non-interactive users. In this paper, in order to improve such degraded BER performance, we propose the maximum-likelihood (: ML) receiver. First, the closed-form expression for the BER of the ML receiver is derived, and then it is shown that the BER of the ML receiver is improved, compared with the BER of the ideal perfect successive interference cancellation (: SIC) receiver. Additionally, based on the analytical expression, Monte Carlo simulations validates the above-mentioned results.

In this paper, it is proposed how to implement the object detection system which is able to apply to vehicular applications, unmanned facilities, automatic door and others with microwave. As the technology which detects an object with microwave is becoming more popular, it seems impossible to avoid mutual interference and jamming caused by limited frequency bandwidth. The system in this paper detects an object by correlating the code of TX and RX signals with the pseudo-random code having best quality in interference and jamming environment. In order to generate simulant doppler signal for detecting the distance of an fixed object where there is no doppler effect, the phase of TX signal is shifted continually. Also, the saturation of receiver was removed and the error of distance measurement was decreased by controlling the power of TX signal for getting constant RX signal. The proposed system detects a object which ranges from 0.5 m to 2.0 m and informs vocally whether there is the object within 1.0 m or not.
Background: Matric metalloproteinase (MMP) 13 gene expression is increased in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCCs) and associated with increasing tumor invasion, lymph node involvement and decreased survival rates. Levels of the circulating enzyme may be elevated and used as a marker of tumor progression. In this study, clinical application of MMP-13 serum levels was evaluated for early detection, prediction of prognosis and survival time of ESCC patients. Materials and Methods: Serum levels of MMP13 were determined by ELISA in 66 ESCC patients prior of any treatment and 54 healthy controls for comparison with clinicopathological data through statistical analysis with Man Whitney U and Log-Rank tests. In addition, clinical value of MMP13 levels for diagnosis was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) test. Results: The serum level of MMP-13 in patients (>250 pg/ml) was significantly higher than in the control group (<100 pg/ml) (p value=0.004). Also the results showed a significant correlation between MMP-13 serum levels with tumor stage (p value = 0.003), depth of tumor invasion (p value=0.008), involvement of lymph nodes (p value = 0.011), tumor size (p value = 0.018) and survival time. While there were no significant correlation with grade and location of tumors. ROC analysis showed that MMP-13 level is an accurate diagnostic marker especially to differentiate pre-invasive/ invasive lesions from normal controls (sensitivity and specificity: 100%). Conclusions: These findings indicate a potential clinical significance of serum MMP13 measurement for early detection and prognostic assessment in ESCC patients.

Cryptographic synchronization which synchronizes internal state of cryptographic algorithm and ciphertext stream between an encryptor and a decryptor affects the quality of secure communication. If there happens a synchronization loss between a transmitter and a receiver in a secure communication, the output of the receiver is unintelligible until resynchronization is made. Especially, in the secure communication on a wireless channel with high BER, synchronization performance can dominate its quality. In this paper, we proposed a novel and noise robust synchronization signal generation method as well as its detection algorithm. We generated a synchronization signal in the form of a masking structure based on the maximal length sequence, and developed a detection algorithm using a correlation property of the maximal length sequence. Experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed synchronization signal outperforms the conventional concatenated type synchronization signal in a noisy environment.
