The conventional hand-crafted features used to track objects have limitations in object representation. Convolutional neural networks, which show good performance results in various areas of computer vision, are emerging as new ways to break through the limitations of feature extraction. CNN extracts the features of the image through layers of multiple layers, and learns the kernel used for feature extraction by itself. In this paper, we use the feature map extracted from the convolution layer of the convolution neural network to create an outline model of the object and use it for tracking. We propose a method to adaptively update the outline model to cope with various environment change factors affecting the tracking performance. The proposed algorithm evaluated the validity test based on the 11 environmental change attributes of the CVPR2013 tracking benchmark and showed excellent results in six attributes.
The primary objective of this study is to develop a suitable methodology to generate forest leaf area index (LAI) map at regional and local scales. To build empirical models, we collected the LAI values at 30 sample plots over the forest within the kyongan watershed area by the field measurements using an optical instrument. Landsat-7 ETM+ multispectral data obtained at the same growing season with the field LAI measurement were used. Three datasets of remote sensing signal were prepared for analyzing the relationship with the field measured LAI value and they include raw DN, atmospherically corrected reflectance, and topographically corrected reflectance. From the correlation analysis and regression model development, we found that the radiometric correction of topographic effects was very critical step to increase the sensitivity of the multispectral reflectance to LAI. In addition, the empirical model to generate forest LAI map should be separately developed for each of coniferous and deciduous forest.

Information security has become increasingly important with the rapid development of mobile devices and internet. An efficient encryption system is a key to this end. In this paper, we propose an image encryption method based on the cross diffusion of two chaotic maps. We use two chaotic sequences, namely the Logistic map and the Chebyshev map, for key generation which has larger security key space than single one. Moreover, we use these two sequences for further image encryption diffusion which decreases the correlation of neighboring pixels significantly. We conduct extensive experiments on several well-known images like Lena, Baboon, Koala, etc. Experimental results show that our algorithm has the characteristics of large key space, fast, robust to statistic attack, etc.

We introduce a novel method for reconstructing the projected dark matter mass maps of merging galaxy clusters by applying the convolutional neural network (CNN) to their weak lensing maps. We generate synthesized grayscale images from given weak lensing maps that preserve their averaged galaxy ellipticity. We then apply them to multi-layered CNN with architectures of alternating convolution and trans-convolution filters to predict the mass maps. We train our architecture with 1,000 Subaru/Suprime-Cam mock weak lensing maps, and our method have better mass map prediction than the Kaiser-Squires method with the following three aspects: (1) better pixel-to-pixel correlation, (2) more accurate finding of density peak position, and (3) free from mass-sheet degeneracy. We also apply our method to the HST weak lensing map of the El Gordo cluster and compare our result to the previous studies.

The magnetic abrasive polishing (MAP), for online monitoring with AE sensor attachment, was performed in this study. To predict the surface roughness after the magnetic abrasive polishing of NAK80, the signal data acquired from the AE sensor were analyzed. A dimensionless coefficient, which consisted of average of AErms and standard deviation of AE signal, was defined as a characteristic of the MAP and a prediction model was obtained using least square method. A neural network, which had multiple input parameters from AE signals and polishing conditions, was applied for predicting the surface roughness. As a result of this study, it was seen that there was very close correlation between the AE signal and the surface roughness in the MAP. And then on-line prediction of the surface roughness after the MAP of the NAK80 was possible by the developed prediction model.

Moments of stationary intervals and those of the counting process can be used for moment fittings of the point processes. As for the Markovian arrival processes, the moments of stationary intervals are given as a polynomial function of parameters whereas the moments of the counting process involve exponential terms. Therefore, moment fittings are more complicated with the counting process than with stationary intervals. However, in queueing network analysis, cross-correlation between point processes can be modeled more conveniently with counting processes than with stationary intervals. A Laplace-Stieltjies transform of the stationary intervals of MAP (3)s is recently proposed in minimal number of parameters. We extend the results and present the Laplace transform of the counting process of MAP (3)s. We also show how moments of the counting process such as index of dispersions for counts, IDC, and limiting IDC can be used for moment fittings. Examples of exact MAP (3) moment fittings are also presented on the basis of moments of stationary intervals and those of the counting process.
This paper proposes an efficient image encryption scheme based on quintuple encryption using two chaotic maps. The encryption process is realized with quintuple encryption by calling the encrypt(E) and decrypt(D) functions five times with five different keys in the form EDEEE. The decryption process is accomplished in the reverse direction by invoking the encrypt and decrypt functions in the form DDDED. The keys for the quintuple encryption/decryption processes are generated by using a Tent map. The chaotic values for the encrypt/decrypt operations are generated by using a Gumowski-Mira map. The encrypt function E is composed of three stages: permutation, pixel value rotation and diffusion. The permutation stage scrambles all the rows and columns to chaotically generated positions. This stage reduces the correlation radically among the neighboring pixels. The pixel value rotation stage circularly rotates all the pixels either left or right, and the amount of rotation is based on chaotic values. The last stage performs the diffusion four times by scanning the image in four different directions: Horizontally, Vertically, Principal diagonally and Secondary diagonally. Each of the four diffusion steps performs the diffusion in two directions (forward and backward) with two previously diffused pixels and two chaotic values. This stage ensures the resistance against the differential attacks. The security and performance of the proposed method is investigated thoroughly by using key space, statistical, differential, entropy and performance analysis. The experimental results confirm that the proposed scheme is computationally fast with security intact.
Studies on effects of human action on the destruction of ecosystems and changes in biodiversity are being processed actively from the view point of landscape ecology. This study investigated present distribution status of the naturalization plant by disturbance of natural ecosystem which could be seen on 35 rural villages in Korea. The study made a landuse map on the study area then quantified the landscape ecologic characteristic using landscape index based on this landuse map. Correlation between landscape index on the study area and distribution characteristic of naturalization plant was analyzed. The landscape index was calculated by FRAGSTATS, a spatial analysis program, and naturalization index and urbanization index were used in the distribution characteristic of naturalization plant. As a result, naturalization index and patch density, naturalization index and edge density, naturalization index and area-weighted mean shape index were shown as having positive correlation, and naturalization and core area percentage of landscape, naturalization index and mean core area were displayed as having negative correlation.

The proposed seal identification procedure consists of the thresholding smoothing, rotation, thinning, and matching techniques. The weighted map is constructed by ditance weighted correlation CK is computed. The CK is compared with the dicision constant Cs or Cd for the purpose of seal identification.
In this paper, improved contour region coding method is proposed to accomplish better depth map coding performance. First of all, in order to use correlation between color video and depth map, a structure in SVC is applied to 3DVC. This can reduce bit-rate of the depth map while supporting the video to be transferred via various collection of network. As the depth map is mainly used to synthesize videos from different views, corrupted contour region can damage the overall quality of video. We hereby adapt a new differential quantization method when separating the contour region. The experimental results show that the proposed method can improve video quality by 0.06~0.5dB which translate the bit rate saving by 0.1~1.15%, when compared to the reference software.
