Effects of Various Fat Sources and Lecithin on the Growth Performance and Nutrient Utilization in Pigs Weaned at 21 Days of Age

  • A total of 125 pigs (5.8 kg of BW) were allotted in a completely randomized block design. Treatments were coconut oil, corn oil, soybean oil, tallow and tallow+lecithin. Each treatment had 5 replicates with 5 pigs per replicate. From d 0 to 7, pigs fed vegetable oil supported greater average daily gain (ADG) and improved feed/gain (F/G) compared to pigs fed the animal fat. Addition of lecithin to tallow increased ADG by 7.2%. Feed intake were similar for all treatment groups. From d 8 to 14, pigs fed coconut oil and soy oil showed better ADG and average daily feed intake (ADFI) than any of the others. From d 15 to 21, pigs fed the tallow diets had lower gains (p < 0.05) than those fed diets that contained vegetable oil and tallow with added lecithin. The effect of different fat sources on gain became smaller with age. Feed intakes were similar between the vegetable oil and lecithin supplemented diets each week postweaning except for pigs fed tallow (p < 0.05). Feed : gain ratios were superior during the initial 2 weeks postweaning period when pigs were provided vegetable oil diet compared with pigs fed tallow. All pig groups had similar feed : gain ratios during 3 weeks. Combinations of tallow with lecithin tended to have intermediate feed/gain ratio. It was found that vegetable oils were much better in improving growth rate of the piglets. Lecithin significantly improved growth rate and feed efficiency of the pigs through the whole experimental period compared to tallow. Coconut oil was the most effective in improving growth of pigs during the first two weeks postweaning. Corn oil had equal value with soy oil in improving growth performance of weaned pigs. When vegetable oil was added, the digestibilities of nutrients except for minerals were higher than when the tallow was fed. Nutrients digestibility was similar among vegetable oils. The addition of lecithin to tallow increased digestibility of gross energy, dry matter, ether extract and crude protein. Crude ash and phosphorus digestibility were not affected by the treatments. Dry matter excretion was not different among treatments except for tallow which showed significantly higher dry matter excretion (p < 0.05), while nitrogen excretion was significantly decreased in pigs fed vegetable oil sources. However, Phosphorus excretion was not affected by the different fat sources.

달맞이꽃 종자유의 섭취가 흰쥐의 혈장 콜레스테롤과 적혈구막 및 대동맥의 지방산조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Evening Primrose Oil on Plasma Cholesterol and Fatty Acid Compositions of Erythrocyte Membrane and Aorta in Rats)

  • 이유한 수컷 흰쥐를 혈장 콜레스테롤의 수준에 따라 미리 4군으로 분류한 다음 옥수수배아유, 돈지 및 달맞이꽃 종자유를 15% 함유하고 콜레스테롤이 0.5%씩 첨가된 실험식이로 사육하였다. 콜레스테롤을 첨가하지 않은 대조군의 식이유지 급원으로는 옥수수배아유를 사용하였다. 4주간의 사육실험 후 혈장 콜레스테롤과 적혈구막 및 대동맥의 지방산조성을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 달맞이꽃 종자유를 급여한 흰쥐는 다른 실험군에 비하여 혈장 콜레스테롤이 낮은 수준을 나타내었으며 옥수수배아유 섭취군에서 식이 콜레스테롤의 첨가 유무가 혈장 콜레스테롤의 수준에 큰 영향을 미치지는 못하였다. 그리고 상기 조직에서 달맞이꽃 종유의 섭취군에서 GLA의 대사산물인 DGLA와 AA의 함량이 증가하였다.

  • Sardine oil was microencapsulated by spray drying method in wall systems containing corn syrup in combination with sodium casein or wheat protein. Analysis of microencapsulation yield of sardine oil was carried out by a modified soxhlet method which could reduce the extraction time of surface oil. Microencapsulation yield of sardine oil was ranged from 65.3 to 93.5 % depending on the sodium casein content.

랫트의 실험적 동맥경화증에 대한 칠성장어유 및 옥수수유의 예방적 효과 (Preventive Effect of Lamprey Oil and Corn Oil on the Experimental Atherosclerosis in Rats)

  • 콜레스테롤과 Vitamin D2로 유발시킨 동맥경화증 랫트에 칠성장어유와 옥수수유의 급여에 따른 예방적 효과를 조사할 목적으로 다음 네 개의 식이군으로 나누어 실험한 바, 첫째군은 정상대조군, 둘째군은 콜레스테롤(40/kg) 과 Vitamin D2(300,000 IU/kg)를 시험개시 1일부터 연속적으로 4일간 투여한 동맥 경화증 대조군, 셋째군은 동맥경화증 유발 처치와 함께 15% 칠성 장어유 식이(w/w)를 8일간 급여한 칠성장어유 식이군, 넷째군은 동맥경화증 유발처치와 함께 15% 옥수수유 식이 (w/w)를 8일간 급여한 옥수수유 식이군으로 하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 동맥경화증 대조군은 정상대조군에 비하여 혈청 중의 총지질, 인지질. 총콜레스테롤, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-chlesterol 치의 현저한 증가를 보였고 (p<0.01), 또한 심장의 중성지방 및 콜레스테롤치의 증가(p<0.01), 대동맥의 중성지방(p<0.01) 및 콜레스테롤치 (p<0.05)를 보였다. 한편 대동맥은 심한 손상으로 내피세포의 탈락 및 내막과 중막에 석회화, 괴사, 지방 침착을 보였고, 관상동맥은 석회화, 괴사, 백혈구의 침윤이 현저하게 관찰되었다. 칠성장어유 식이군은 정상대조군에 비하여 혈청 중성지방치의 r마소 (p<0.01), 혈청 HDL-cholesterol 치의 증가(p<0.01), 심장콜레스테롤치 (p<0.05),의 증가를 보였고, 동맥경화증 대조군에 비하여는 혈청 중의 총지질, 중성지방, 인지질, 총콜레스테롤, LDL-cholesterol , VLDL-cholesterol 치 (p<0.01), 및 LDL치의 감소(p<0.05), 또한 간장 콜레스테롤치의 증가(p<0.05), 심장의 중성지방 (p<0.01) 및 콜레스테롤치 (p<0.05)의 r마소, 대동맥 중성지방 (p<0.01) 및 콜레스테롤치 (p<0.05) 의 감소를 보였다. 또한 옥수수유 식이군에 비하여 혈청 총지질(p<0.05)의 감소, 총콜레스테롤 및 HDL-cholesterol 치의 감소 (p<0.01), 심장중성지방치의 감소 , 대동맥 중성지방치의 감소 (p<0.01)를 보였다. 한편 대동맥은 동맥경화증 대조군에 비하여 미약한 석회화와 괴사된 thru을 보였으나 칠성장어유 식이군에서와 같이 지방침착은 관찰되지 않았고 관상동맥에서도 동맥경화증 대조군에 비해 미약한 석회화와 괴사된 소견을 보였다. 이상의 결과에서 불포화지방산을 다량으로 함유한 칠성장어유 및 옥수수유는 동맥경화증 랫트에 있어 생체내 지질대사에 영향을 미침으로써 혈청지질치를 저하시키고 동맥벽내에 지방침착을 억제시켰으며, 이러한 효과는 n-6계 다불포화지방산을 많이 함유하고 있는 옥수수유보다 n-3rP 다불포화지방산을 다량으로 함유한 칠성장어유에 더욱 크게 나타났다

Effects of Dietary Fats and Fibers on Modulation of Biomarkers and Tumor Incidence in Rats during 1, 2-Dimethylhydrazine-Induced Colon Carcinogenesis

  • This study investigated the effect of different dietary fats and fibers on colon tumor incidence and cell proliferation, the levels of eicosanoids and polyamines in colonic mucosa of DMH-treated rats. The experiment was conducted on male Sprague Dawley rats using a 2 $\times$3 factorial design with two fats (corn oil and DHA-rich fish oil) and two fibers (cellulose and pectin) and a fiber-free control. The rats were find an experimental diet containing 15% (w/w) dietary fat and 6% (w/w) fiber for 25 weeks. Tumor incidence was Bower in rats fed fish oil as opposed to corn oil. The levels of arachidonic acid (AA) and eicosanoids ($PGE_2, and TXB_2$) in normal colonic mucosa were significantly lower in rats fed fish oil and there was a concomitant increase of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The levels of eicosanoids and AA in tumor tissues were significantly higher than those of normal colonic mucosa. The level of polyamines in normal colonic mucosa was not affected by dietary fats but was significantly lower than that in rumor tissues. Dietary fiber did not have a significant effect on rumor incidence and the levels of AA, eicosanoids and polyamines. Overall, fish oil rich in DHA reduced cell prolifiration and thus inhibited colon carcinogenesis through its effect on the distribution of AA and production of eicosanoids in normal colonic mucosa. However, its effect on colon carcinogenesis revealed a lack of consistency depending on the type of dietary fiber in diet.

탈지들깨박 Ethanol 추출물의 항산화 효과 (Studies on Antioxidant Activity of Ethanol Extracts from Defatted Perilla Flour)

  • The antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts from defatted perilla flour was investigated by measuring peroxide value of perilla oil during storage at $45^{\circ}C$. The antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts was also compared with BHA, BHT and tocopherol. Anti-oxidant activity of ethanol extracts was also examined in corn oil and lard. The ethanol extracts contents of defatted perilla flour and the original perilla seed were 7.69 and 4.56% respectively. The antioxidant activity of ethanol extracts was superior to that of 0.02% BHT, BHA and tocopherol in the perilla oil substrate, merely in concentration of one-twentieth as much as that contained in original perilla oil seeds. The fractions of non-polar solvent (hexane and chloroform) obtained from silicic acid column chromatography are less effective than that of polar solvent as an antioxidant. Antioxidant activity of partially purified ethanol fraction is slightly inferior to that of original crude ethanol extracts. Ethanol extracts were also effective in corn oil and lard almost same as in perilla oil. The total phenolic compound contents of crude ethanol extracts and partially purified ethanol fraction were 9.3, 6.4%, respectively.

n-6, n-3 지방산과 비타민 A 수준이 흰쥐의 혈청지질 농도 및 간조직에 미치는 영향 (Effect on n-6, n-3 Fatty Acids and Vitamin A Levels on Serum Lipid Contents and Hepatic Tissues in Rats)

  • This study was carried out to observe the effects of dietary n-6, n-3 fatty acids and vitamin A levels on serum lipid contents and hepatic tissues in rats. Sixty eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed 6 different experimental diets for 6 weeks. The diets were composed of 10% of either corn oil or fish oil with three levels of vitamin A ; defient (1240IU/kg diet), adequate (4000IU/kg diet), excess(400,000IU/kg diet). It was observed that triglyceride content and lipoprotein ratio in serum were not affected by dietary fat types and vitamin A levels. However, total serum cholesterol contents were significantly lower in fish oil groups than in corn oil groups, which were not affected by vitamin A levels. Under light microscope, vitamin A excess groups showed pathological abnormalites, such as fatty change and inflammation of the hepatic tissues. There abnormalities were less severe in fish oil groups. These results suggested that fish oil could be a dietary factor lowering the serum lipid contents, and it seems to relieve the abnormal changes in liver induced by excess vitamin A.

어유 및 식물 종자유의 급이가 흰쥐가 간장, 뇌조직의 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Fish Oil and Some Seed Oils on Fatty Acid Compositions of Liver and Brain Tissue in Rats)

  • S-D계 흰쥐에 중성지방 혈증 유발을 위해 12% 야자종실유와, 시험유지로서 올리브유, 돈지(豚脂), 어유, 들깨유, 옥수수유, 고추종자유 및 달맞이꽃종자유를 각각 3%씩 급여하여 4주간 사육한 후 간장 및 뇌지질의 지방산 조성을 분석 검토한 바, 간장 인지질의 지방산 조성은 SFA의 함량이 많고 MUFA는 적었으며, 중성지질에서는 MUFA의 함량이 SFA보다 약간 많은 편이었고 콜레스테롤 에스테르는 SFA 함량은 적고 MUFA는 월등히 많았다. 각 획분 모두 PUFA의 함량은 적었으며 PUFA중 $C_{18:2}(n-6)$의 함량이 가장 많았다. n-3계 PUFA는 어유 및 들깨유 급여군에 비교적 많은 반면 n-6계 PUFA는 옥수수유, 고추종자유 및 달맞이꽃종자유 급여군에 많았다. 뇌인지질의 지방산 조성에서 SFA의 함량은 적은 반면 PUFA의 함량이 현저히 많았으며, n-3계 PUFA로서는 $C_{20:5}와\;C_{22:6}$이 n-6계 PUFA로서는 $C_{18:2}$가 주요 지방산을 이루고 있었다.

  • 옥수수 기름의 탈취온도가 trans 지방산 생성량 및 그 조성에 미치는 영향을 GLC를 이용하여 측정하였다. 상대적으로 저온탈취인 240~25$0^{\circ}C$에서는 극미량의 trans 지방산만이 검출되었으나, 고온탈취인 255~27$0^{\circ}C$ 구간에서는 0.30, 0.57, 0.64 및 0.81%를 나타내었다. 이성화 현상은 이중결합수가 증가할수록 두드러졌으며, tt 및 ttt형은 거의 검출되지 않았는데 비하여 ct, cct 및 tcc형이 다량 검출되었다. 따라서, 탈취유의 이화학적 특성과 함께 이성체형성의 극소화는 저온탈취에 의하여 최대의 효과를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Rat 혈소판의 cGMP생성에 있어서 홍삼 지용성 분획과 단백질 분획의 영향 (Effect of Lipophilic Fraction and Protein Fraction of Korean Red Ginseng on the Production of cGMP In Rat Platelets)

  • Rats (Sprague Dawley, male, 200 g) were fed with 15% corn oil containing a large quantity of 18 2 (linoleic acid) for 3 weeks, and were followed by feeding the petroleum ether extracts from Korean red ginseng for 3 weeks. cGMP was produced more in platelets prepared from both 15% corn oil and petroleum ether extracts-fed group than in platelets only 15% corn oil-fed group, indicating that the production of cGMP is increased by feeding the petroleum ether extracts. When this platelet was stimulated by phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA), the level of cGMP was decreased. However, the platelets in medium containing protein fraction (200 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml) was stimulated by PMA, the production of cGMP inhibited by PMA was increased by 3 times or more. These results suggest that both the protein fraction and the petroleum ether extracts from Korean red ginseng are synergistic in the productiorl of cGMP, and they may have the antiplatelet effects.
