In this study, the seismic performance of low - rise piloti buildings with concentric core (shear wall) position is analysed and reviewed based on KDS 41. The prototype is selected among the constructed low - rise piloti buildings with concentric core designed based on KBC 2005 which was used for many low - rise piloti buildings construction. The seismic performance of the building shows plastic behavior in X-direction and elastic behavior in Y-direction. The inter-story drift is lager than that of concentric core case and is under the maximum allowed drift ratio. The displacement ratio of first story is much lager the that of upper stories, and the frame structure in the first story is evaluated as vulnerable to lateral force. Therefore, low - rise piloti buildings with concentric core need the diminishment of lateral displacement and reinforcement of lateral resistance capacity in seismic design and seismic retrofit.
In this study, as a competency strengthening program to support learner-centered education, we developed the 'Capstone-design competency Program' for the purpose of cultivating the 4C skills and problem-solving ability required as core competencies of the 21st century. The program was based on the project method, and strategies were derived and materialized for each step through core competency analysis. Then, the validity was confirmed through the implementation of the program. As a result of the implementation of the program, it was confirmed that this program was effective in cultivating the core competencies of college students. In addition, it was confirmed that learners showed results such as specific reflection on core competencies, changes in perspective, and action plans, so that the possibility of actual application was high.

In this study, we developed a conversion core that produces power by utilizing the unused magnetic field in a switchboard. The conversion core makes it possible to utilize power that is normally wasted. The conversion core is composed of a core, filter, and battery. A prototype was installed in a switchboard to conduct tests on the output, battery storage, and output boosting of multiple batteries. Energy was harvested from the magnetic field generated by a busbar of the switchboard, and the power conversion ratio of the core yielded 1.08-1.01 mW per 1 A of bus current. Supplying this technology to the market after further R&D and commercialization is expected to greatly assist in the dissemination of energy harvesting, which has not yet spread widely to the general public.
An ideal post material should have physical properties similar to those of dentin. Post materials with high elastic moduli may cause root fractures. This clinical report describes the treatment of a severely damaged tooth using a recently introduced material. Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) is a semicrystalline high-performance thermoplastic polymer. PEKK is a promising material for custom post-and-core fabrication because of its elasticity close to that of dentin, good shock absorbance, machinability, and low cost. A laboratory scanner was used to digitize the conventional impression of a severely damaged maxillary right first molar. A custom PEKK post-and-core was designed and milled using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technology. Using the proposed technique, a custom PEKK post-and-core was fabricated accurately and human error was reduced. Restoration was luted with resin cement. Custom PEKK post-and-core restorations are a viable alternative for treating severely damaged teeth.
Core-shell polymers of methyl methacrylate/styrene pair were prepared by sequential emulsion polymerization in the presence of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) as an emulsifier using ammonium persulfate(APS) as an initiator. The characteristics of these core-shell polymers were evaluated. Core-shell composite latex has the both properties of core and shell components in a particle, where as polymer blonds or copolymers show a combined properties from the physical properties or two homopolymers. This unique behavior of core-shell composite latex can be used in many industrial fields. However, in preparation of core-shell composite latex, several unexpected phenomina are observed, such as, particle coagulation, low degree of polymerization, and formation of new particles during shell polymerization. To solve the disadvantages, we studied the effects of surfactant concentrations, initiator concentrations, and reaction temperature on the tore-shell structure or PMMA/PSt and PSt/PMMA. Particle size and particle size distribution were measured by using particle size analyzer, and the morphology of the core-shell composite latex was observed by using transmission electron microscope. Glass transition temperature($T_g$) was also measured by using differential scanning calorimeter. To identify the core-shell structure, pH of the composite latex solutions were measured.
Knowledge on the functional characteristics and temporal variation of anaerobic bacterial populations is important for better understanding of the microbial process of two-stage anaerobic reactors. However, owing to the high diversity of anaerobic bacteria, close attention should be prioritized to the frequently abundant bacteria that were defined as core bacteria and putatively functionally important. In this study, using MiSeq sequencing technology, the core bacterial community of 98 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) was determined in a two-stage upflow blanket filter reactor treating pharmaceutical wastewater. The core bacterial community accounted for 61.66% of the total sequences and accurately predicted the sample location in the principal coordinates analysis scatter plot as the total bacterial OTUs did. The core bacterial community in the first-stage (FS) and second-stage (SS) reactors were generally distinct, in that the FS core bacterial community was indicated to be more related to a higher-level fermentation process, and the SS core bacterial community contained more microbes in syntrophic cooperation with methanogens. Moreover, the different responses of the FS and SS core bacterial communities to the temperature shock and influent disturbance caused by solid contamination were fully investigated. Co-occurring analysis at the Order level implied that Bacteroidales, Selenomonadales, Anaerolineales, Syneristales, and Thermotogales might play key roles in anaerobic digestion due to their high abundance and tight correlation with other microbes. These findings advance our knowledge about the core bacterial community and its temporal variability for future comparative research and improvement of the two-stage anaerobic system operation.
Au@ZnO core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by a simple method followed by heat-treatment for gas sensor applications. The advantage of the core-shell morphology was investigated by comparing the gas sensing performances of Au@ZnO core-shell NPs with pure ZnO NPs and different wt% of Au-loaded ZnO NPs. The crystal structures, shapes, sizes, and morphologies of all sensing materials were characterized by XRD, TEM, and HAADF-STEM. Au@ZnO core-shell NPs were nearly spherical in shape and Au NPs were encapsulated in the center with a 40-45 nm ZnO shell outside. The gas sensing operating temperature for Au@ZnO core-shell NPs was $300^{\circ}C$, whereas it was $350^{\circ}C$ for pure ZnO NPs and Au-loaded ZnO NPs. The maximum response of Au@ZnO core-shell NPs to 1000 ppm CO at $300^{\circ}C$ was 77.3, which was three-fold higher than that of 2 wt% Au-loaded ZnO NPs. Electronic and chemical effects were the primary reasons for the improved sensitivity of Au@ZnO core-shell NPs. It was confirmed that Au@ZnO core-shell NPs had better sensitivity and stability than Au-loaded ZnO NPs.
By analyzing the Ge 34 core-level photoelectron spectrum, we studied the structure of the $Li/Ge(111)-3\times1$ surface. Two surface related components tying on either side of the main bulk peak were identified in the Ge 3d spectrum. The existence and the position of the two surface components in the core-level spectrum from $Li/Ge(111)-3\times1$ is similar to those of the $Li/Ge(111)-3\times1$, suggesting the similarities in structure of the two surfaces. The core-level photoelectron spectra of the Li-induced $Li/Ge(111)-3\times1$ surface are well consistent with the honeycomb-chain-channel model, which was proposed as the structure of the $Si/Ge(111)-3\times1$ induced by alkali metals.
A shared-based tree established by the Core Based Tree multicast routing protocol (CBT), the Protocol Independent Multicast Sparse-Mode(PIM-SM), or the Core-Manager based Multicast Routing(CMMR) is rooted at a center node called core or Rendezvous Point(RP). The routes from the core (or RP) to the members of the multicast group are shortest paths. The costs of the trees constructed based on the core and the packet delays are dependent on the location of the core. The location of the core may affect the cost and performance of the shared-based tree. In this paper, we propose three methods for selecting the set of candidate cores. The three proposed methods, namely, k-minimum average cost, k-maximum degree, k-maximum weight are compared with a method which select the candidate cores randomly. Three performance measures, namely, tree cost, mean packet delay, and maximum packet delay are considered. Our simulation results show that the three proposed methods produce lower tree cost, significantly lower mean packet delay and maximum packet delay than the method which selects the candidate cores randomly.
The planning of access area, so called "core" plays an important role of planning for multifamily housing, especially multistory housing. For all possibility of various planning and design, this area has been mostly planned and designed in uniformity. And only few attempts have so far been made in studying core, on the contrary to the unit plan or plotplan. It is keenly needed to develop various skills of planning and design in this sector. The purpose of this study is to find out the usable elements of planning and design, those are correspondent to normative targets. For this end, most possible core types are classified in to three categories: circulation types in the housing block, axis types to the entrance of housing units and number of accessed housing units. And then, sizable developments for norm of core have been effectuating in view of function, relationships both with housing unit and block. Based on this classification of types and listed norm, several European examples are analyzed and evaluated by merits and demerits of their respective core types. In addition to this analysis, some adequate planning conditions, positive vs. negative types of core, and detailed planning elements are prepared with regard to the norm of core. It is noteworthy that a variety of possible core planning cases are available by means of combination of lower categories in the classified core types. It is expected that this study will render service for some helpful planning and design guide in the practice
