  • In this paper, we present a visual quality enhancement technique for conventional three-dimensional (3D) photon counting integral imaging using background noise removal algorithm. Photon counting imaging can detect a few photons from desired objects and visualize them under severely photon-starved conditions such as low light level environment. However, when a lot of photons are generated from background, it is difficult to detect photons from desired objects. Thus, the visual quality of the reconstructed image may be degraded. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new photon counting imaging method that removes unnecessary background noise and detects photons from only desired objects. In addition, integral imaging can be used to obtain 3D information and visualize the 3D image by statistical estimations such as maximum likelihood estimation. To prove and evaluate our proposed method, we implement the optical experiment and calculate mean square error.

  • It was found that there was no problem in recycling by-products (waste rock and tailings) from Yangyang iron mine themselves through matter conversion because they are not hazardous according to results of KSLT method. In case of using tailings as sub-materials of cement, it recommended the use of less than 3% tailings dosage not to exceed 0.6% of total alkali ($R_2O$) content based on standard quality of portland cement (KS L 5201). Non sintered eco-brick corresponding to class 1 quality of recycled clay brick (KS I 3013) can replace 15% of cement with tailings and 100% of general fine aggregate with waste rock from iron mine. As mentioned above, recycling the by-products (waste rock and tailings) as sub-materials of cement and non sintered eco-brick could gain both environmental and economic benefits, that is, reduction of scale and maintenance cost of tailing ponds, decrease of energy use and $CO_2$ emission.

  • Cu(In,Ga)3Se5 (β-CIGS) has a band gap of 1.35 eV, which is an optimum value for high solar-energy conversion efficiency. The effects of Cu and Ga content on the cell performance were investigated previously. However, the effect of Se content on the cell performance is not well understood yet. In this work, β-CIGS films were fabricated by three-stage co-evaporation of elemental sources with various Se fluxes at the third stage instead of at all stages. The average composition of five samples was Cu1.05(In0.59,Ga0.41)3Sey, where the stoichiometric y value is 5.03 and the stoichiometric Se/metal (Se/M) ratio is 1.24. We varied the Se/metal ratio in a range from 1.18 to 1.28. We found that the best efficiency was achieved when the Se/M ratio was 1.24, which is exactly the stoichiometric value where the CIGS grains on the CIGS surface were tightly connected and faceted. With the optimum Se/M ratio, we were able to enhance the cell efficiency of a β-CIGS solar cell from 9.6% to 12.0% by employing a Na2S post deposition treatment. Our results indicate that Na2S post deposition treatment is very effective to enhance the cell efficiency to a level on par with that in α-CIGS cell.

  • Hydrodemetallation(HDM) of VO-tetraphenylporphyrin(VO-TPP) was studied over $CoMo/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst at emperatures between $300^{\circ}C$ and $400^{\circ}C$, the total pressure between $15{\times}10^5$ and $30{\times}10^5$ Pa and the contact times between 0.008 and 0.020gcat. hr./ml teed. HDM of VO-TPP was inhibited by pyridine because the increase of pyridine concentration(up to 4mole%) caused the decrease of HDM conversion. The reaction rate of VO-TPP was found to be apparently 1st order over $350^{\circ}C$ and its activation energy was determined to be about 23kca1/mo1e by Arrhenius plot. Pore mouth-plugging phenomena were shown by ad/desorption isotherm and pore size distribution of fresh and aged catalysts.

  • Molybdenum phosphate(P/Mo = 0.6) has been synthesized with ammonium molybdate and phosphoric acid under aqueous solution. The kinetics of the ammoxidation of methylpyrazine over molybdenum phosphate catalyst was investigated with the variation of reaction temperature and partial pressure of methylpyrazine, oxygen and ammonia, respectively at atmospheric pressure. The catalytic activity was constant for 300hrs operation under our experimental conditions. Under the steady-state condition, the rate equation of methylpyrazine was shown as $-r=kP_{MP}P_{NH3}{^0}P_{O2}{^{\gamma}}({\gamma}=2.2;1.3{\leq}P_{O2}(kPa){\leq}4)$. The apparent activation energy was 29.6kcal/mol below 623K. The main product obtained in the ammoxidation of methylpyrazine is cyanopyrazine whose selectively was kept always over 90% regardless of conversion.

  • In this work, the cure kinetics and rheological and mechanical properties of diglycidylether of bispheonol A (DGEBA, EP)/polyurethane (PU) blends were investigated. The 1 wt% N-benzylpyrazinium hexafluoroantiminate (BPH) was used as a latent thermal catalyst. Latent properties were performed by measurement of the conversion as a function of reaction temperature using DSC. And the rheological properties of the blend systems were investigated under isothermal conditions using a rheometer. Crosslinking activating energies (Ec) were also determined from the Arrhenius equation based on gel time and curing temperature. The impact strengths were measured as mechanical properties of the casting specimens. The BPH in the blend systems could be an excellent latent thermal catalyst without any co-initiator. The rheological results showed that Ec was highest when PU content was 30 wt% which was in good agreement with the impact strengths. This was probably due to the intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl group in PU and EP, resulting in increasing the crosslinking density.

  • This paper describes a current mode PWM DC-DC converter IC for battery charger and supply power converter for portable electronic devices. The maximum supply voltage of IC is 40[V] and 2.8[V]~330[V] DC input power is converted to higher or programmed DC voltage according to external resistor ratio or wire winding ratio of transformer. The maximum supply output current is 3[A] over and voltage error of output node is within 3[%]. The whole circuit needed current mode PWM DC-DC converter circuit is designed. The package dimensions and number of external parts are minimized in order to get a smaller hardware size. The power consumption is smaller then 1[mW] at stand by period with supply voltage of 3.6[V] and maximum energy conversion efficiency is about 86[%]. This device has been designed in a 0.6[um] double poly, double metal 40[V] CMOS process and whole chip size is 2100*2000 [um2].

  • Most of seismic design code provisions provide the design response spectra for defining design earthquake ground motions. The design spectra in the code provisions generally come under the 5% of critical damping value, which corresponds to the responses of common structure under the design earthquake. Energy dissipation devices and seismic isolation systems became more popular and the design response spectra at higher damping levels are required. Damping coefficients can be effectively used in conversion of 5%-damped design spectra into other damping levels. These coefficients in the current seismic design code provisions are based on the strong ground motion records. Since the weak and moderate earthquake data have different characteristics from those of strong earthquake data, the application of these coefficients should be investigated in the weak and moderate earthquakes zones. In this study, damping coefficients based on the weak and moderate ground motions were developed and compared to those of current seismic design code provisions.

  • An experiment was conducted to increase the quality of rice bran by fermentation using Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and humic substances and its utilization as a feed ingredient for broiler chickens. The experiment was carried out in two steps. First, the fermentation process was done using a completely randomized design in factorial with 16 treatments: i) Dosage of B.amyloliquefaciens ($2.10^8cfu/g$), 10 and 20 g/kg; ii) Graded levels of humic substances, 0, 100, 200, and 400 ppm; iii) Length of fermentation, three and five days. The results showed that the fermentation significantly (p<0.05) reduced crude fiber content. The recommended conditions for fermentation of rice bran: 20 g/kg dosage of inoculums B. amyloliquefaciens, 100 ppm level of humic substances and three days fermentation period. The second step was a feeding trial to evaluate the fermented rice bran (FRB) as a feed ingredient for broiler chickens. Three hundred and seventy-five one-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned into five treatment diets. Arrangement of the diets as follows: 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% level of FRB and the diets formulation based on equal amounts of energy and protein. The results showed that 15% inclusion of FRB in the diet provided the best bodyweight gain and feed conversion ratio (FCR) values. In conclusion, the nutrient content of rice bran improved after fermentation and the utilization of FRB as a feed ingredient for broiler chickens could be included up to 15% of the broiler diet.

  • A growth and digestibility study was conducted using Osmanabadi goat male kids by feeding complete diets in the form of mash or expander extruded pellets containing different levels of red gram (Cajanus cajan) straw (RGS). Two iso-nitrogenous complete diets were prepared by incorporating RGS at 35% and 50% levels. Half the quantity of each complete mash feed was then converted into pellets through expander extruder processing. Thirty two kids of 4 to 5 months age were divided into four groups of eight each and were fed for 150 d with four experimental diets (T1: mash with 35% RGS, T2: mash with 50% RGS, T3: pellets with 35% RGS and T4: pellets with 50% RGS). Pelleting of complete diets significantly (p<0.001) increased the voluntary feed intake (671.45 vs 426.28 g/d) at both levels of RGS in the feeds. Average daily gain (ADG, g/d) also increased significantly (p<0.001) from 48.79 in kids fed mash diet to 71.29 in those fed with pelleted diets. Feed conversion efficiency (dry matter (DM) intake: weight gain) was comparable among all the treatment groups. Digestibility of nutrients was not affected by pelleting of the feeds whereas, increasing the level of inclusion of RGS in feeds from 35% to 50% decreased (p<0.05) the digestibility of DM and crude protein (CP) resulting in lower (p<0.001) metabolizable energy (ME) content (MJ/kg DM) in feeds with 50% RGS (7.93 vs 8.75). Daily intake (MJ/kg $BW^{-0.75}$) of ME decreased (p<0.05) in feeds containing 50% RGS while pelleting of feeds increased (p<0.05) the intake of DM, CP, digestible crude protein (DCP) and ME. It is inferred that expander extruder pelleting can efficiently utilize RGS up to 50% level in complete diets for growing goat kids.
