Convergent Momentum Strategy in the Korean Stock Market (한국 주식시장에서의 융합적 모멘텀 투자전략)

  • This study attempts to empirically investigate if relative momentum strategy is effective in the Korean stock market. The sample of the study is comprised of companies which are traded in both Kospi and Kosdaq stock markets in Korea for the period between 2001~2014. The study observes that the momentum strategy buying past winner stocks and selling past loser stocks is negatively correlated with the value strategy buying value stocks with high book to market ratio and selling glamour stocks with low book to market ratio. And each strategy is alternatively effective from period to period. The study demonstrates that the momentum strategy is effective when both strategies which are negatively correlated are treated as one system by estimating Fama and French's[1] 3 factor regression model.

The Impact of the External Technology R&D Collaboration Network Heterogeneity on the Employment Increase of Small and Medium Companies: The Mediating Effect of Export Growth (외부 기술 연구개발 협력 네트워크의 다양성이 중소기업의 고용 증대에 미치는 영향: 수출 증대의 매개 효과)

  • With a view to deepening the research stream on the factors positively influencing the export growth and the employment increase of South Korean small and medium companies, this research has developed the research model about the impact of small and medium companies' external technology R&D collaboration network heterogeneity on their export growth and employment increase, and has empirically tested the research model with the 2,200 data collected from the small and medium companies in the South Korea. This study illuminates the two points from the empirical testing results. One point is that small and medium companies' external technology R&D collaboration network heterogeneity significantly and positively influences their employment increase from technology development. The other point is that small and medium companies' export growth from technology R&D partially mediates the impact of the external technology R&D collaboration network heterogeneity on their employment increase from technology R&D.

Digital Coupon Gift-giving Model through Gift-Giving Motivation (선물동기에 따른 모바일 메신저 디지털 쿠폰 선물 증여 모형)

  • Since a smart phone has been popular, 91% of the internet users are utilizing the technology in all places for chatting and messenger which overtake share of voice and visual call utilization. The phenomenon is remarkable to young generations between teenager and thirties, which leads to mobile messenger shopping such as mobile digital voucher and coupon buy. In this research, we clarify whether traditional gift-giving motivations works on digital coupon gift-giving, and two technology acceptance model factors: perceived usefulness and ease of use affects between motivations and intention to gift-giving. The result shows three traditional gift-giving motivations: experiential, obligated and practical attitude affects intention to digital mobile coupon gift-giving and ease of use of the digital mobile coupon works parameter of the relation rather than usefulness. In other words, gift-giving purpose digital coupon users give a gift with traditional gift-giving motivation but has the stronger intetnion to gift-giving by technology ease of use.

Competition in the Life Insurance Market: Evidence from Korea using the Panzar - Rosse Model (국내 생명보험산업의 경쟁도 변화에 대한 융합적 연구: 방카슈랑스와 퇴직연금제도의 시행을 중심으로)

  • This paper uses the Panzar Rosse model to investigate the competitive conditions in the Korean life insurance companies over the period of 1999 2012. We break down the entire sample period into four distinctive groups and analyze the competitiveness of each period. The results indicate that for the pre-introduction of Bancassurance period, the H-statistic is -1.3984 and the life insurance market is found to be in monopoly or cartel. However, for the post-introduction of Bancassurance period, the H-statistic is 0.9107 and the life insurance market appears to be in monopolistic competition. The results from the introduction of retirement pension system are very similar to those of the introduction of Bancassurance. Overall, the findings indicate that the Korean life insurance market is in long-run equilibrium before the new system introduction, but make adjustments to the new equilibrium.

  • This paper analyzed leadership behavior and employee performance through empirical analysis method based on AMO theory. In this study, the ability of the leader (A), task motivation (M), and opportunity (O) were chosen as factors to analyze the relationship between transformative leadership and job performance of the subordinate staff, and the self-efficiency (O) and intrinsic motivation (M) were selected at the individual level and team atmosphere (O) at the organizational level to build a research model. 507 valid data were obtained from the survey and statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS23. Studies have shown that transformative leaders have a significant impact on employee performance. This study provides research results of empirical theory to understand the behavior of the leader in the performance of the employees and also suggests implications for the management of the company's human resources.

Maximizing the capacity of the IoT-based WSNs by employing the MIM capability (MIM 적용을 통한 IoT 기반 무선 센서 네트워크 성능 최대화 방안)

  • Wireless sensor nodes adopting the advanced preamble detection function, Message-In-Mesage (MIM), maximize the concurrent transmission opportunities due to the capture effect, result in improving the system performance significantly compared to the legacy IEEE 802.15.4 based sensor devices. In this paper, we propose an MIM capture probability model to analyze the performance gains by applying the MIM function to the wireless sensor nodes. We implemented the IEEE 802.15.4 and MIM by Python and performed extensive simulations to verify the performance gains through MIM capture effects. The evaluation results show that the MIM sensors achieve 34% system throughput gains and 31% transmission delay gains over the legacy IEEE 802.15.4-based sensors, which confirm that it was consistent with the analysis result of the proposed MIM capture probability model.

A Study on Effects of Online Environmental Factors on Online Rumor Behavior (온라인 루머 행동에 대한 온라인 환경 요인의 영향 연구)

  • Online rumor creates psychological stress and image loss for victims. Prior studies related to online rumor did not consider the online environmental factor, despite the fact that online rumor occurs in the online space. Therefore, this study tried to investigate the influence of online characteristics on online rumor. This study considered perceived anonymity, lack of social presence, and perceived dissemination as online characteristics. We established and demonstrated a research model in which online characteristics affect online rumor behavior through attitude toward online rumor. This study obtained the sample of 201 social network users based on the survey and verified the research model using PLS tool. The results provided that perceived anonymity and perceived dissemination influenced online rumor behavior through attitude toward online rumor. On the other hand, lack of social presence was not significant. The findings of this study provide the fact that an individual's online rumor behavior can be caused by online characteristics. This study suggests that we pay attention to the role of perceived anonymity and perceived dissemination for online rumor behavior.

An Analysis on Economic Effects of Smart Sewage Pipe (스마트 하수도 구축의 경제적 파급효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the concept of the Smart Sewer System and to analyze the economic ripple effect when smart sewer is built all over Korea. The research method is the input-output model based on the assumption that the smart sewerage will be constructed throughout the Korea from 2021 to 2040. Estimation results show that the production-induced effect reaches 343.73 trillion Korean won, the added value-induced effect is 155.867 trillion Korean won, and the employment-induced effect is estimated by 25,118,470, indicating that the smart sewer project leads to being considerably large in the nation-wide economy. In addition, the increase of social welfare by smart sewer is expected to be realized through the improvement of both the environment improvement and the national health. Therefore, the smart sewer project should be implemented without delay by planning a concrete road map and putting it into effect with a budget.

  • Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, companies and institutions are introducing virtual desktop technology, one of the logical network separation technologies, to establish a safe working environment in a situation where remote work is provided. With the introduction of virtual desktop technology, companies and institutions can operate the network separation environment more safely and effectively, and can access the business network quickly and safely to increase work efficiency and productivity. However, when introducing virtual desktop technology, there is a cost problem of high-spec server, storage, and license, and it is necessary to supplement in terms of operation and management. As a countermeasure to this, companies and institutions are shifting to cloud computing-based technology, virtual desktop service (DaaS, Desktop as a Service). However, in the virtual desktop service, which is a cloud computing-based technology, the shared responsibility model is responsible for user access control and data security. In this paper, based on the shared responsibility model in the virtual desktop service environment, we propose a cloud-based hardware security module (Cloud HSM) and edge-DRM proxy as an improvement method for user access control and data security.

Dynamic Glide Path using Retirement Target Date and Forecast Volatility (은퇴 시점과 예측 변동성을 고려한 동적 Glide Path)

  • The objective of this study is to propose a new Glide Path that dynamically adjusts the risky asset inclusion ratio of the Target Date Fund by simultaneously considering the market's forecast volatility as well as the time of investor retirement, and to compare the investment performance with the traditional Target Date Fund. Forecasts of market volatility utilize historical volatility, time series model GARCH volatility, and the volatility index VKOSPI. The investment performance of the new dynamic Glide Path, which considers stock market volatility has been shown to be excellent during the analysis period from 2003 to 2020. In all three volatility prediction models, Sharpe Ratio, an investment performance indicator, is improved with higher returns and lower risks than traditional static Glide Path, which considers only retirement date. The empirical results of this study present the potential for the utilization of the suggested Glide Path in the Target Date Fund management industry as well as retirees.
