  • After the opening of Kyong-Bu High Speed Railway, tremendous change was occurred in the various realm in Korean Society. But in the Daegu-Busan section, KTX was still running on the conventional line where the railroad was improved to more straightly. For the noise prediction of KTX train which runs on the conventional line, components of noise source were analyzed using SEL(Sound Exposure Level) of meassured data. For the validation of suggested prediction equation, the predicted result was compared to the measured.

  • Tilting trains are now an established feature of railway operations throughout the world. For intercity traffic, tilt provides operators with increasing speeds, and therefore enhanced competitiveness, on existing routes where insufficient traffic or a lack of funds precludes the construction of a dedicated new high-speed railway. Appling the tilting train, we can expect 30% of speed up on existing lines, but the stability of the electric current would be low because of tilting the train. Also, the spark between the catenary and pantagraph cause environmental problems such as noise, radio wave malfunction. Therefore, the tilting on pantagraph for the power suppling device is very essential for stable electric power supply.

Investigation of the Dynamic Properties of Railway Tracks using a Model for Calculation of Generation of Wheel/Rail Noise

  • For optimization of a low-noise track system, rail vibration and noise radiation needs to be investigated. The main influencing parameters for the noise radiation and the quantitative results of every track system can be obtained using a calculation model of generation and radiation of railway noise. This kind of model includes contact modeling and the calculation model of the dynamic properties of the wheel and the rail. This study used a nonlinear wheel/rail interaction model in the time domain to investigate the excitation of the rolling noise. Wheel/rail response is determined by time integrating Green's function of the rail together with force impulses from the wheel/rail contact. This model and the results of the study can be used for supporting calculation with the conventional model by an addition of the contributions due to nonlinearities to the roughness spectrum.

  • In this paper, the design characteristics, the manufacturing process and the results of performance test on the AC traction motor for urban transit standard E.M.U which is newly developed with applying standardization specification will be introduced. It is reviewed that the design and performance analysis on conventional motors considering system correlation and design constraint and the design optimization through an analysis of electro-magnetic, thermal and dynamic properties. The properties of factory products manufactured by 200 Class VPI process exhibit a excellent performance with a lower noise and vibration, higher efficiency and power factor etc.

레일 경좌 변화에 따른 곡선부 통과열차의 주행안전성 해석 (Running Safety Analysis of Railway Vehicle passing through Curve depending on Rail Inclination Change)

  • So far today, there is a speed limit by the radius of curve based on operation regulation in domestic railway, however a study for the maximum running speed at the curved section without any derailment would be necessary. The two major factors related to the running safety of railway vehicle are classified as the railway vehicle condition and the track condition. In terms of the rail inclination among many other factors, the determination of rail inclination within the possible limit is necessary for the geometrical structure of the optimum track. The disregard of the geometrical parameter related to the rail inclination may cause a serious problem to the running safety of railway vehicle. This study is focusing on the analyzing of running safety regard to the change of rail inclination among the many other parameters to improve derailment safety, so that there is an affection analysis of the running safety regard to the change of rail inclination in the ideal and geometric track condition. Also There is an affection analysis of the running safety regard to the simultaneous change of rail inclination and the running speed at the curved section. According to analysis results of running safety, In case that the left and right rail inclination are 1/40, the running safety of this condition defined than other conditions. Also, the rail inclination of conventional lines is 1/40, Therefore, the railway vehicle passing through curve is safe when the railway vehicle runs in conventional lines.

ISO 9613-2를 이용한 철도 환경소음 예측 모델 개선에 관한 연구 (Study on the improvement of prediction model for the railway environmental noise using ISO 9613-2)

  • 철도 소음의 환경영향평가 업무에 있어서 소음도에 대한 정확한 예측이 중요하지만, 국내에서는 overall 소음도의 거리별 측정을 통한 경험식이 근사적으로 이용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 소음원과 소음전파의 주파수 특성을 고려하여 철도 소음의 예측 정확도를 향상할 수 있는 예측 모델을 제안하였다. 먼저 철도 소음원을 궤도(레일 및 침목), 차륜, 동력, 공력 성분으로 구분하여 각각의 옥타브 밴드 주파수별 음향파워와 속도계수를 정의하고 음향 조도와 궤도/교량 특성을 반영할 수 있는 보정항을 도입하였다. 소음원에서 수음점까지의 전파 특성은 ISO 9613-2를 적용하여 기하학적 확산, 대기 흡음, 지면 효과, 장애물의 회절에 따른 감쇠 및 지향특성을 반영하여 계산하였다. 소음원 음향파워와 지향인자를 추정하기 위하여 전동 소음원 해석 모델 및 수치해석 결과와 통과 소음도 측정값을 이용하였다. 본 철도 소음 예측 모델을 이용하여 여러 철도 차량과 궤도 유형에 따라서 예측한 소음도를 측정값과 비교하여 정확도를 검증하였으며 기존 예측 모델보다 비교적 정확한 예측이 가능하였다. 따라서 본 결과는 철도 환경 소음의 정확한 영향 예측과 효율적인 소음 저감 대책 수립에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • The wheelsets are one of most important component: damages in wheel tread and press fitted axle are a significant cost for railway industry. Since failure in railway wheelset can cause a disaster, regular inspection of defects in wheels and axles are mandatory. Ultrasonic testing, acoustic emission and eddy current testing method and so on regularly check railway wheelset in service. However, it is difficult to use this method because of its high viscosity and because its sensitivity is affected by temperature. Also, due to noise echoes it is difficult to detect defects initiation clearly with ultrasonic testing. It is necessary to develop a non-destructive technique that is superior to conventional NDT techniques in order to ensure the safety of railway wheelset. In the present paper, the new NDT technique is applied to the detection of surface defects for railway wheelset. To detect the defects for railway wheelset, the sensor for defect detection is optimized and the tests are carried out with respect to surface and internal defects each other. The results show that the surface crack depth of 1.5 mm in press fitted axle and internal crack in wheel could be detected by using the new method. The ICFPD method is useful to detect the defect that initiated in the tread of railway wheelset.

콘크리트교를 지나는 철도 차량의 환경 소음 예측 연구 (Prediction of the Environmental Noise Level of Railway Cars Crossing a Concrete Bridge)

  • 국내 철도의 환경 소음 예측을 위해서 기존에는 총합 소음도의 거리별 경험식에 기초한 모델을 이용하였던 바, 교량 주변 소음도를 계산하는 데에도 거리만의 함수를 이용하였다. 그러나 콘크리트교에서는 수음점의 거리뿐만 아니라 위치에 따라서도 소음도가 변화한다. 본 논문에서는 철도 콘크리트교에서 교량 상판에 의한 회절 및 지면 효과를 고려한 소음전파 예측모델을 도출하였으며, 이때 ISO 9613-2의 소음 전파 모델을 이용하였다. 고속철도 콘크리트 교 주변 소음도에 대한 예측값을 실제 측정결과와 비교하였으며, 그 결과 본 예측 모델이 비교적 작은 오차를 냄을 확인하였다.

  • Recently, many technologies of the P.L.C (Power Line Carrier) are introduced for an efficient communication. P.L.C communication sends information in the carrier signals by conduction over the power wire. An arc detector is proposed in this paper for the effective transmission. The Power Line Carrier has an advantage in low cost because it uses existent power line. It can be easily applied anywhere that a power line socket is available. But the P.L.C. is very noisy, because many electronic devices in generate electronic noise in modulated signals. This problem should be considered carefully in the design of the arc detector system using P.L.C in railway. The proposed system can be applied for monitoring the arc detector system and the arc locator system in railway. Hence the system will be able to exchange the arc information to be T.C.M.S. (Train Control Management System), bogies and even between a station and trains in railway and use to suspicion fire in train.

고속열차의 저해상도 타코미터를 이용한 정확한 속도 추정에 관한 연구 (An Accurate Velocity Estimation using Low Resolution Tachometer of High-Speed Trains)

  • Reliable velocity estimation technology for trains is one of technologies used to operate trains safely and effectively. Various sensors such as tachometers, doppler radars, and global positioning systems are used to estimate velocity of a train. Tachometer is widely used to estimate velocity of a trains due to its simplicity, small volume, cost-effectiveness, continuously measurement at high speed, and robustness against noise. Accuracy in the velocity calculation using a tachometer depends on quantization error, measurement error of wheel radius or diameter, and tachometer's imperfection from manufacturing or installation process. In this paper, we present an accurate velocity estimation method using a low-resolution tachometer, which is commonly installed on a high-speed train. Baseline estimation method is proposed to accurately calculate the velocity of the high-speed train from tachometer's pulses. HEMU-430x test train is used for the experiment and verification of the proposed method. Experimental results with several routes show that the proposed method is more accurate than a conventional method.
