This paper presents neural load torque compensation method which is composed of a deadbeat load torque observer and gains compensation by a parameter estimator. As a result, the response of the PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor) obtains better precision position control. To reduce the noise effect, the post-filter is implemented by a MA (moving average) process. The parameter compensator with an RLSM (recursive least square method) parameter estimator is adopted to increase the performance of the load torque observer and main controller. The parameter estimator is combined with a high performance neural load torque observer to resolve problems. The neural network is trained in online phases and it is composed by a feed forward recall and error back-propagation training. During normal operation, the input-output response is sampled and the weighting value is trained multi-times by the error back-propagation method at each sample period to accommodate the possible variations in the parameters or load torque. As a result, the proposed control system has a robust and precise system against load torque and parameter variation. Stability and usefulness are verified by computer simulation and experiment.

This paper presents neural load disturbance observer that used to deadbeat load torque observer and regulation of the compensation gain by parameter estimator As a result, the response of PMSM follows that of the nominal plant. The load torque compensation method is compose of a neural deadbeat observer. To reduce of the noise effect, the post-filter, which is implemented by MA process, is proposed. The parameter compensator with RLSM(recursive least square method) parameter estimator is suggested to increase the performance of the load torque observer and main controller. The proposed estimator is combined with a high performance neural torque observer to resolve the problems. As a result, the proposed control system becomes a robust and precise system against the load torque and the parameter variation. A stability and usefulness, through the verified computer simulation and experiment, are shown in this paper.
Individual DC voltage balance problem is an inherent issue for cascaded H-bridge (CHB) based converter. When the CHB-based static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is operating at zero current mode, the software-based individual DC voltage balancing control techniques may not work because of the infinitesimal output current. However, the different power losses of each cell would lead to the individual DC voltages unbalance. The uneven power losses on the local supplied cell-controllers (including the control circuit and drive circuit) would especially cause the divergence of individual DC voltages, due to their characteristic as constant power loads. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an adaptive voltage balancing module which is designed in the cell-controller board with small size and low cost circuits. It is controlled to make the power loss of the cell a constant resistance load, thus the DC voltages are balanced in zero current mode. Field test in a 10kV STATCOM confirms the performance of the proposed method.
In this paper, the design method of sliding mode control (SMC) system for SISO linear system is discussed. First, we consider the similarity between the design method of sliding mode hyper plane using the strict positive realness and the characteristics of zeros of feedback system and the design method of simple adaptive control. Based on such a consideration, we propose the new design method of SMC system using parallel dynamic compensator. As a result, SMC system can be constructed only with the derivative of output signal for controlled plant. The performance of SMC system designed by proposed method is confirmed through the numerical example.
The problem is improving the positioning precision of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). Thus, this paper presents the design and realization of an adaptive dither to reduce the force ripple in PMLSM. A composite control structure is used, consisting of three components: a simple feed-forward component, a PID feedback component and an adaptive feed-forward compensator (AFC). Especially adaptive feed-forward component cancel out detent force using wavelet transformation. Computer simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for high precision motion trajectory tracking using the PMLSM
This study suggests a trajectory tracking controller composed of an input output linearization compensator and a linear controller. The input output linearization compensator is derived from the nonlinear equations of a pneumatic control system and it algebraically transforms a nonlinear system dynamics into a linear one, so that input output characteristics of the control system is linearized regardless of the variation of the operating point and linear control techniques can be applied. The results of nonlinear simulations show that the proposed controller tracks the given trajectories more accurately than a state feedback controller does.
Zero-Cross Detector makes pilot signal to control the power to CEDM(Control Element Drive Mechanism). Existing Zero-Cross Detectors has had a problem which can cause unexpected reactor trip resulted from fluctuating frequency of input signal coming from M/G Set. The existing Zero-Cross Detector can't work properly when power frequency is varying because it was designed to work under stable M/G Set operation, and produces wrong pilot signal and output voltage. In this report the Zero-Cross Detector is improved to resolve voltage fluctuating problem by using new devices such as digital noise filtering circuit, variable cycle compensator and alarm circuit. And through the performance verification it shows that new circuit is better than old one. If suggested detector is applied to plant, it is possible to use it under House Load Operation because stable voltage can be generated by new Zero-Cross Detector.

This paper presents an application of intelligent modeling method to manual control system with human operator. Human operator as a part of controller is difficult to be modeled because of changes in individual characteristics and operation environment. So in these situation, a fuzzy model developed relying on the expert's experiences or trial and error may not be acceptable. To supplement the fuzzy model block, a neural network based modeling error compensator is incorporated. The feasibility of the present fuzzy-neural modeling scheme has been investigated for the real human based target tracking system.

To improve the damping of all poorly damped oscillation modes, a control strategy of Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) based on energy method is presented in this Paper As a synchronous voltage-sourced inverter, SSSC is used to provide controllable series compensation. SSSC can provide controllable compensating voltage over an identical capacitive and inductive range. The damping effect of control strategy based on energy function is robustness with respect to loading condition, fault location and network configuration. Furthermore, the control inputs are based on local signals. In two area system, the effect of damping inter-area mode oscillation is demonstrated by the robust control strategy of SSSC.

This paper presents a new control scheme using a sliding mode controller with a multilayer neural network for the robot manipulator operating under the sea which has large uncertainties such as the buoyancy and the added mass/moment of inertia. The multilayer neural network using the error back propagation loaming algorithm acts as a compensator of the conventional sliding mode controller to improve the control performance when the initial assumptions of uncertainty bounds are not valid. Computer simulation results show that the proposed control scheme gives an effective path way to cope with the unexpected large uncertainties in the underwater robot manipulator.
