Development of Left Turn Response System Based on LiDAR for Traffic Signal Control

  • In this paper, we use a LiDAR sensor and an image camera to detect a left-turning waiting vehicle in two ways, unlike the existing image-type or loop-type left-turn detection system, and a left-turn traffic signal corresponding to the waiting length of the left-turning lane. A system that can efficiently assign a system is introduced. For the LiDAR signal transmitted and received by the LiDAR sensor, the left-turn waiting vehicle is detected in real time, and the image by the video camera is analyzed in real time or at regular intervals, thereby reducing unnecessary computational processing and enabling real-time sensitive processing. As a result of performing a performance test for 5 hours every day for one week with an intersection simulation using an actual signal processor, a detection rate of 99.9%, which was improved by 3% to 5% compared to the existing method, was recorded. The advantage is that 99.9% of vehicles waiting to turn left are detected by the LiDAR sensor, and even if an intentional omission of detection occurs, an immediate response is possible through self-correction using the video, so the excessive waiting time of vehicles waiting to turn left is controlled by all lanes in the intersection. was able to guide the flow of traffic smoothly. In addition, when applied to an intersection in the outskirts of which left-turning vehicles are rare, service reliability and efficiency can be improved by reducing unnecessary signal costs.

Effects of Postharvest 1-MCP Treatment, Storage Method, and Shelf Temperature on Quality Changes of 'Gamhong' Apples during Export Simulation (수확후 1-MCP 처리, 저장 방법 및 현지 유통온도가 모의수출 '감홍' 사과의 품질에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • Effects of postharvest 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment, controlled atmosphere (CA) storage, and shelf temperature on quality of 'Gamhong' apples were analyzed during export simulation. Fruits were harvested at the optimum maturity for long-term storage, treated with $1{\mu}L{\cdot}L^{-1}$ 1-MCP for 16 hours, and then stored for 6 months under air and CA conditions at $0^{\circ}C$. Poststorage export procedure was performed by applying additional 2-week refrigerated storage and 7-day shelf-life test at 7 and $20^{\circ}C$, which simulated container shipment and local distribution, respectively. After storage and during export simulation, rates of respiration and ethylene evolution were significantly lower in 1-MCP treated and CA-stored apples. For the reduction of respiration, CA storage was more effective than 1-MCP treatment. Soluble solids content was maintained higher in 1-MCP treated apples, while titratable acidity was maintained better both in the 1-MCP treated and CA-stored apples. Effects of 1-MCP treatment and CA storage were highly significant in maintaining flesh firmness and sensory texture ratings. Additive effects from combined application of 1-MCP treatment and CA storage were occasionally observed. Shelf temperature during the local distribution simulation seemed not to significantly influence quality changes only showing limited effects on flesh firmness. Overall results suggest that storage potential of 'Gamhong' apples is shorter than 4 months in control fruit under refrigerated air conditions, whereas the potential can be extended to longer than 6 months by 1-MCP treatment and CA storage. Postharvest program should be provided considering the time of export, i.e. period of storage, and duration of local distribution.

Three-dimensional Simulation of Wave Reflection and Pressure Acting on Circular Perforated Caisson Breakwater by OLAFOAM (OLAFOAM에 기초한 원형유공케이슨 방파제의 반사율 및 작용파압에 관한 3차원시뮬레이션)

  • In this study, we proposed a new-type of circular perforated caisson breakwater consisting of a bundle of latticed blocks that can be applied to a small port such as a fishing port, and numerically investigated the hydraulic characteristics of the breakwater. The numerical method used in this study is OLAFOAM which newly added wave generation module, porous media analysis module and reflected wave control module based on OpenFOAM that is open source CFD software published under the GPL license. To investigate the applicability of OLAFOAM, the variations of wave pressure acting on the three-dimensional slit caisson were compared to the previous experimental results under the regular wave conditions, and then the performance for irregular waves was examined from the reproducibility of the target irregular waves and frequency spectrum analysis. As a result, a series of numerical simulations for the new-type of circular perforated caisson breakwaters, which is similar to slit caisson breakwater, was carried out under the irregular wave actions. The hydraulic characteristics of the breakwater such as wave overtopping, reflection, and wave pressure distribution were carefully investigated respect to the significant wave height and period, the wave chamber width, and the interconnectivity between them. The numerical results revealed that the wave pressure acting on the new-type of circular perforated caisson breakwaters was considerably smaller than the result of the impermeable vertical wall computed by the Goda equation. Also, the reflection of the new-type caisson breakwater was similar to the variation range of the reflection coefficient of the existing slit caisson breakwater.

  • Because of the important role LD converters play in the production of high quality steel, various dynamic models have been attempted in the past by many researchers not only to understand the complex chemical reactions that take place in the converter process but also to assist the converter operation itself using computers. And yet no single dynamic model was found to be completely satisfactory because of the complexity involved with the process. The process indeed involves dynamic energy and mass balances at high temperatures accompanied by complex chemical reactions and transport phenomena in the molten state. In the present study, a mathematical model describing the dynamic behavior of LD converter process has been developed. The dynamic model describes the time behavior of the temperature and the concentrations of chemical species in the hot metal bath and slag. The analysis was greatly facilitated by dividing the entire process into three zones according to the physical boundaries and reaction mechanisms. These three zones were hot metal (zone 1), slag (zone 2) and emulsion (zone 3) zones. The removal rate of Si, C, Mn and P and the rate of Fe oxidation in the hot metal bath, and the change of composition in the slag were obtained as functions of time, operating conditions and kinetic parameters. The temperature behavior in the metal bath and the slag was also obtained by considering the heat transfer between the mixing and the slag zones and the heat generated from chemical reactions involving oxygen blowing. To identify the unknown parameters in the equations and simulate the dynamic model, Hooke and Jeeves parttern search and Runge-Kutta integration algorithm were used. By testing and fitting the model with the data obtained from the operation of POSCO #2 steelmaking plant, the dynamic model was able to predict the characteristics of the main components in the LD converter. 분포형모델을 이용한 지형특성변화에 따른 유출해석

  • 분석에 이용된 격자망은 동곡, 고로, 미성, 병천, 효령 및 무성지점에 각각 12개, 30개, 45개, 76개, 46개 및 1265개의 조격자를 구성하였으며 하천의 수로방향 및 경사형태를 세분화하기 위하여 각 지점에 대하여 8개, 24개, 24개, 44개, 12개 및 64개의 세격자로 분할하였다. AGNPS를 이용한 첨두유량의 모의발생 결과치가 동곡, 고로, 미성, 병천, 효령 및 무성지점에서 측정값과 비교하여 각 호우사상별로 상대오차가 1.0~25.0%, 4.0~27.0%, 7.0~29.2%, 2.0~23.9%, 3.0~25.0% 및 3.6~21.0%의 차이를 나타내었다. 분석결과에서 AMCII조건에서는 관측치와 분석결과치가 유사하게 나타났으나 AMCI조건에 대해서는 상대적으로 작은 값을 보였으며 AMCIII조건에서는 다소 큰 값으로 분석되었다. SCS방법에서 제안하는 AMC조건별 CN값을 우리 실정에 적합하도록 수정 보완하기 위한 수정 유출곡선지수 $CN_{m}$ /I과 $CN_{m}$/III을 재구성하였으며, 여기에 적용되는 수정 유출 곡선지수식의 계수 a를 추정한 결과, 기왕에 발표된 연구결과와 거의 일치된 경향을 나타내었다. 제안된 수정 CN식을 이용하여 산정한 결과치와 관측치는 거의 유사하게 나타났다. AGNPS모델에 의한 유출량 산정에 있어 수문학적 토양피복형수(CN)의 결정을 위하여 선행강우량과 토양의 공극율 및 지형인자인 각 셀마다의 유역경사를 이용하여 관계식(CN =f($X_1$, $X_2$, $X_3$))을 유도하였으며, 분석 결과에서 CN이 선행강우량과 가장 밀접한 관계가 있음을 알 수 있었으며 유역경사, 토양의 공극율 순으로 나타났다..88mg/$\ell$~의 범위로 나타났다. 무태교 지점에서의 총인의 농도는 0.52mg/$\ell$~0.99mg/$\ell$~의 범위이었다. 신천에 금호강물을 혼합한 이후에도 부유물질, 생화학적산소요구량, 암모니아태 질소, 총인 등의 농도가 개선되지 않았다. 즉 금호강물의 혼합은 신천수질환경사업소에서 배출되는 방류수에 함유되어 있을 2차 오염물질의 희석이라는 이점외의 수질개선효과는 확인되지 않았다.l years and a new type of transfer crane has been developed.   • The flow past a wall mounted square cylinder, a typical and basic shape of building, bridge or offshore structure, was simulated using URANS computation through adoption of three turbulence models, namely, the k-ε model, k-ω model, and the v2-f model. It is well known that this flow is naturally unstable due to the Karman vortex shedding and exhibits a complex flow structure in the wake region. The mean flow field including velocity profiles and the dominant frequency of flow oscillation that was from the simulations discussed earlier were compared with the experimental data observed by Wang et al. (2004; 2006). Based on these comparisons it was found that the v2-f model is most accurate for the URANS simulation; moreover, the k-ω model is also acceptable. However, the k-ε model was found to be unsuitable in this case. Therefore, v2-f model is proved to be an excellent choice for the analysis of flow with massive separation. Therefore, it is expected to be used in future by studies aiming to control the flow separation.

Dose Distribution of Rectum and Bladder in Intracavitary Irradiation (자궁경부암 강내 방사선 조사장치에 의한 직장 및 방광의 피폭선량 평가)

  • The intrauterine irradiation is essential to achieve adequate tumor dose to central tumor mass of uterine malignancy in radiotherapy. The complications of pelvic organ are known to be directly related to radiation dose and physical parameters. The simulation radiation and medical records of 203 patients who were treated with intrauterine irradiation from Feb. 1983 to Oct. 1983, were critically analized. The physical parameters to include distances between lateral walls of vaginal fornices, longitudinal and lateral angles of tandem applicator to the body axis, the distance from the external os of uterine cervix to the central axis of ovoids were measured for low dose rate irradiation system and high dose rate remote control afterloading system. The radiation doses and dose distributions within cervical area including interesting points and bladder, rectum, according to sources arrangement and location of applicator, were estimated with personal computer. Followings were summary of study results ; 1. In distances between lateral walls of vaginal fornices, the low dose rate system showed as $4\~7cm$ width and high dose rate system showed as $5\~6cm$. 2. In horizontal angulation of tandem to body axis, the low dose rate system revealed mid position$64.6\%$, left deviation $19.2\%$and right deviation $16.2\%$. 3. In longitudinal angulation of tandem to body axis, the mid position was $11.8\%$ and anterior angulation $88.2\%$ in low dose rate system but in high dose rate system, anterior angulation was $98.5\%$. 4. Down ward displacement of ovoids below external os was only $3\%$ in low dose rate system and $66.7\%$ in high dose rate system. 5. In radiation source arrangement, the most activities of tandem and ovoid were 35 by 30 in low dose rate system but 50 by 40 in high dose rate system. 6. In low and high dose rate system, the total doses an4 TDF were 50, 70 Gy and 141, 123, including 40 Gy external irradiation. 7. The doses and TDF in interesting points Co, B, were 93, 47 Gy and 230, 73 in high dose rate system but in low doss rate system, 123, 52 Gy and 262, 75 respectively. 8. Doses and TDF in bladder and rectum were 70, 68 Gy and 124, 120 in low dose rate system, but in high dose rate system, 58, 64 Gy 98, 110 respectively, and then grades of injuries in bladder and rectum were 25, $30\%$ and 18, $23\%$ respectively.

  • Recently, there have been some researches in the equipment fault detection based on shock and vibration information. Most research of them is based on shock and vibration monitoring to determine the equipment fault or not. Different with engine fault detection based on shock and vibration information we focus on detection of engine for boat and system control. First, it use the duplicated-checking method for shock and vibration information to determine the engine fault or not. If there is a fault happened, we use the integral to determine the error engine shock wave width and detect the fault area. On the other hand, we use the engine trend analysis and standard of safety engine to implement the shock and vibration information database. Our simulation results show that the probability of engine fault determination is 98% and the probability of engine fault detection is 72%

  • This paper presents the power management strategies for a compound hybrid excavator. The compound hybrid excavator has been replaced the hydraulic swing motor to the electric swing motor. This excavator requires a proper control algorithm to regulate the energy flow between the mechanical coupling and the electric devices. The controller should improve fuel economy and maintain the super capacitor voltage within a proper range. A thermostat controller and ECMS controller are designed such that these objectives can be achieved. The thermostat controller regulates the power of the engine-assist motor on the basis of the super capacitor voltage, and the ECMS controller determines it using the real-time fuel minimization strategy based on the concept of equivalent fuel. Simulation results showed that by using the hybrid excavator, the fuel economy becomes about 20% higher than that obtained using the conventional excavator and that the ECMS controller outperforms the thermostat controller.

  • Recently, fuel cell with high energy efficiency and low CO2 emission is energetically interconnected with power system. Especially, FCGS(Fuel Cell Generation System) which usually operates at high temperature, is being developed and installed in the form of large scale system. However, it is reported that power system disturbances related to surge, harmonic and EMI have caused several problems such as malfunction of protection device and damage of control device in the large scale FCGS. In order to solve these problems, this paper presents a modeling of operation characteristics of FCGS by PSCAD/EMTDC, ETAP, P-SIM software. And also, this paper proposes countermeasure algorithms to prevent power system disturbances. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm is useful method for the stable operation of large scale FCGS.
