Research on the Design and Evaluation of a Control Loading System for Flight Simulator (비행 시뮬레이터용 조종력 재현 장치 설계 및 시험연구)

  • This paper represents the development of a CLS(Control Loading System) for a target a airplane (KT-1) with mechanical linkage reversible flight control system. The system is composed of mechanical frame, controller, sensing part to measure the force from the stick, driving system generating the reaction forces. The DS1103 DSP(Digital Signal Processor) of the dSpace Corp. was used as the controller. The control algorithm of the CLS and the operational environment including monitoring software and evaluation tools are described. The evaluation of the system was conducted according to the requirement specification. The results of the test were analyzed by comparing with the actual data of the target airplane.

  • This paper suggests one model, which can be monitor and control target system at anytime and anywhere by a WAP and ME based personal cellular phone(Feature phone) and internet connection. The suggesting model tried to overcome constraints of distance and mobility of conventional methods, TCP/IP based remote data monitoring system, which combine PDA and WLAN technologies. For the experiments of suggesting model, the target systems are constructed with individual modules, which need AC or DC power control. The development software for the control and monitor of local system use NI Labview for the easy-programming and confidence. Also, web server use APM setup for the general user. The mobile connection environments of personal cellular phone are programmed by use WML and mHTML language for the general access. Through the experiments, we have showed that suggesting model can overcome constraints of distance and mobility of conventional system.

  • Recently, the surveillance system research has focused because Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) has the ability to monitor wide area. When the wide area are monitored, controlling UAVs repeatedly by pilots invokes the cost problem to operate UAVs. If monitoring path can be defined in advance, the cost problem can be solved by controlling UAVs autonomously based on the monitoring path. The traditional approach generates multiple motor primitives based on flied GPS locations. However, the monitoring points by UAVs are not considered by the generated motor primitives, the surveillance by UAVs is not performed properly. This paper proposes a motor primitive structure for surveillance UAVs to be flied autonomously. Motor primitives are generated automatically by setting surveillance points to denote surveillance targets accurately.

Conceptual Design of Networking Node with Real-time Monitoring for QoS Coordination of Tactical-Mesh Traffic (전술메쉬 트래픽 QoS 조율을 위한 네트워킹 노드의 개념 설계 및 실시간 모니터링)

  • With the advancement of information and communication technology, tactical networks are continuously being converted to All-IP future tactical networks that integrate all application services based on Internet protocol. Futuristic tactical mesh network is built with tactical WAN (wide area network) nodes that are inter-connected by a mesh structure. In order to guarantee QoS (quality of service) of application services, tactical service mesh (TSM) is suggested as an intermediate layer between infrastructure and application layers for futuristic tactical mesh network. The tactical service mesh requires dynamic QoS monitoring and control for intelligent QoS coordination. However, legacy networking nodes used for existing tactical networks are difficult to support these functionality due to inflexible monitoring support. In order to resolve such matter, we propose a tactical mesh WAN node as a hardware/software co-designed networking node in this paper. The tactical mesh WAN node is conceptually designed to have multi-access networking interfaces and virtualized networking switches by leveraging the DANOS whitebox server/switch. In addition, we explain how to apply eBPF-based traffic monitoring to the tactical mesh WAN node and verify the traffic monitoring feasibility for supporting QoS coordination of tactical-mesh traffic.

  • A vacuum control system has been developed for using Ethernet Multi Serial Device Severs (EMSDS) for the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) storage ring. There are 124 vacuum ion pumps at the storage ring. It was a very important problem to solve the problem how to control such a big number of vacuum pumps distributed around the ring. After discussions, we decided to develop a serial to ethernet interrace device sever that will be mounted in the control system rack. It has a 32-bits microprocessor embedded Linux, 12 ports RS485 (or RS232) slave interface. one channel 10/100BaseTx ethernet host port, one channel UART host port, and 16 Mbytes large memory buffer. These vacuum pumps are connected to Ion-Pump serial controllers, which chop the AC current so as to control the current in the pumps. The EMSDS connect either 100BaseTx or 10BaseT ethernet networks to asynchronous serial ports for communication with serial device. It can simultaneously control up to 12 ion-pump serial controllers. 12 EMSDS are connected to a personal computer (PC) through the network. The PC can automatically control the EMSDS by sending a set of commands through the TCP/IP network. Upon receiving a command from a PC running under Windows2000 through the network, the EMSDS communicate through the stave serial interrace ports to ion-pump controller. We added some software components on the top of EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) toolkit.

  • At this time, the two main techniques for achieving web personalization assistant systems generally concern direct manipulation and software agents. While both direct manipulation and software agents are intended for permitting user to complete tasks rapidly, efficiently, and easily, their methodologies are different. The central debate involving these web personalization techniques originates from the amount of control that each allows to, or holds back from, the users. Direct manipulation can provide users with comprehensibel, predictable and controllable user interfaces that give them a feeling of accomplishnent and responsibility. On the other hand, the intelligent software components, the agents, can assist users with artificial intelligence by monitoring or retrieving personal histories or behaviors. In this empirical study, two web personalization assistant systems are evaluated. One of them, WebPersonalizer, is an agent based user personalization tool; the other, AntWorld, is a collaborative recommendation tool which provides direct manipulation interfaces. Through this empirical study, we have focused on two different paradigms as web personalization assistant systems : direct manipulation and software agents. Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages. We also provide the experimental result that is worth referring for developers of electronic commerce system and suggest the methodologies for conveniently retrieving necessary information based on their personal needs.

Leveraging Proxy Mobile IPv6 with SDN

  • The existing Proxy Mobile IPv6 suffers from a long handover latency which in turn causes significant packet loss that is unacceptable for seamless realtime services such as multimedia streaming. This paper proposes an OpenFlow-enabled proxy mobile IPv6 (OF-PMIPv6) in which the control of access gateways is centralized at an OpenFlow controller of a foreign network. The proposed OF-PMIPv6 separates the control path from the data path by performing the mobility control at the controller, whereas the data path remains direct between a mobile access gateway and a local mobility anchor in an IP tunnel form. A group of simple OpenFlow-enabled access gateways performs link-layer control and monitoring activities to support a comprehensive mobility of mobile nodes, and communicates with the controller through the standard OpenFlow protocol. The controller performs network-layer mobility control on behalf of mobile access gateways and communicates with the local mobility anchor in the Proxy Mobile IPv6 domain. Benefiting from the centralized view and information, the controller caches the authentication and configuration information and reuses it to significantly reduce the handover latency. An analytical analysis of the proposed OF-PMIPv6 reactive and proactive handover schemes shows 43% and 121% reduction in the handover latency, respectively, for highly utilized network. The results gathered from the OF-PMIPv6 testbed suggest similar performance improvements.

The Study for the CMP Automation with Nova Measurement System (NOVA System을 이용한 CMP Automation에 관한 연구)

  • There are several factors causing re-work in CMP process such as improper polish time calculation by operator. removal rate decline of the polisher, unstable in-suit pad conditioning, slurry supply module problem and wafer carrier rotation inconsistancy. And conclusively those fundimental reason for the re-work rate increasement is mainly from the cycle time delay between wafer polish and post measurement. Therefore, Wafer thickness measurement in wet condition could be able to remove those improper process conditions which may happen during the process in comparison with the conventional dried wafer measurement system and it can be able to reduce the CMP process cycle time. CMP scrap reduction by overpolish, re-work rate reduction, thickness control efficiency also can be easily achieved. CMP Equipment manufacturer also trying to develop integrated system which has multi-head & platen, cleaner, pre & post thickness measure and even control the polish time from the calculated removal rate of each polishing head by software. CMP re-work problem such as over & under polish by target thickness may result in the cycle time delay. By reducing those inefficient factors during the process and establish of the automatic process control, CLC system need to be adopted to maximize the process performance. Wafer to Wafer Polish Time Feed Back Control by measuring the wafer right after the polish shorten the polish time calculation for the next wafer and it lead to the perfact Post CMP target thickness control capability. By Monitoring all of the processed the wafer, CMP process will also be stabilize itself.

Evaluation of the Implementation of ISO 11783 for 250 kbps Transmission Rate of Tractor Electronic Control Unit

  • Purpose: Accurate monitoring of information from various agricultural vehicles is one of the most important factors for appropriate management strategy of field operations. While there has been a number of study and design on applications of sensors and actuators for data acquisition and control system in tractor, incompatibility between various customized hardware and software has become a major obstacle to the universal deployment in real field operation. International standard for implementation of electronic control unit (ECU) in agricultural vehicles has becoming a mandatory requirement for inter-operation compatibility in the international trade of agricultural vehicle industries. The ISO 11783 standard is basically based upon well known communication technology designated using the controller area network (CAN) bus. While CAN bus could provide 1.0 Mbps of communication speed, the standard only recommended 250 kbps. Methods: This study presents the implementation and evaluation of ISO 11783 for tractor electronic control units (TECU)with a higher transmission rate from multiple ECU than 250 kbps. Throughput and loss rate of the developed prototype were calculated across manipulated bus load for laboratory experimental tests, and the maximum requirement of transmission rate by ISO 11873 was satisfied with lower than 60% of bus load. Results: Field tests with a TECU implemented to process messages from global positioning system (GPS) receiver resulted that the root mean square error of position information was lower than 4 m with 0.5 m/s as a travelling speed. Conclusions: Results of this study represent the utilization of the international standard ISO 11783 to providepractical developments in terms with the inter-operability of TECU.
