Knowledge and Learning Needs Related to Coronary Artery Disease in Diabetic Patient by Glycemic Control (당뇨병 환자의 혈당조절 정도에 따른 관상동맥질환 관련 지식과 교육요구도 조사)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge and learning needs on coronary artery disease in diabetic patients by glycemic control. Methods: The subjects consisted of 188 patients at the hospital who had diabetes mellitus. Data was obtained using a knowledge and learning needs questionnaire from January to April 2006. Results: Treatment method, the levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG), and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(PP2hr) showed meaningful differences between normo-glycemic group(HbA1c < 7%) and hyper-glycemic group($HbA1c{\geq}7%$). The levels of knowledge on coronary artery disease by glycemic control tend to show higher in normo-glycemic group. Etiology and prevention of coronary artery disease were significantly higher in normo-glycemic group than in hyper-glycemic group. The levels of learning needs on coronary artery disease by glycemic control tend to show higher in normo-glycemic group. The learning needs on items of diet control were higher in normo-glycemic group than in hyper-glycemic group. Conclusion: On the base of these results, we should focus on the coronary artery disease education for hyper-glycemic group. Also individual coronary artery disease educational program should be developed for the patients with different level of knowledge and learning needs.

Correlation among oral health behavior, oral health knowledge and dietary control of university students (일부 지역 대학생들의 구강보건행위와 구강보건지식도 및 식이조절과의 연관성)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the influencing factors of oral health behavior and oral health awareness of university students by assessing oral health practice. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 500 university students in Jeonbuk from June 2 to 15, 2014. Except ten incomplete answers, 490 data were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, subjective oral health status (8 items), oral health knowledge (18 items), and oral health practice (22 items) by Likert 5 point scale. Results: Oral health behavior had a significant effect on smoking status (${\beta}=-0.200$, p<0.001), oral health knowledge (${\beta}=-0.235$, p<0.001), dietary control practice (${\beta}=-0.123$, p<0.05), and daily toothbrushing frequency (${\beta}=-0.240$, p<0.001). With respect to factors influencing oral health knowledge, significant effect was found in oral health behavior (${\beta}=0.258$, p<0.001), dietary control awareness (${\beta}=0.208$, p<0.001), and dietary control practice (${\beta}=-0.136$, p<0.05). Conclusions: Oral health knowledge of university students is an important factor to cause a change in the behavior of oral health practice. Consequently, oral health education is essential to university students. In order to help improve the oral health, more customized and organized oral health programs will be necessary and it will encourage changes in university students oral health practices.

Evaluation of the Food Sanitation Training Program in Child- Care Centers (탁아기관 급식관계자 대상 위생교육 효과평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate food sanitation training program for the improvement of food service operation in day-care centers. Subjects consisted of 55(experimental) and 25(control) foodservice employees and 33(experimental) and 20(control)directors. The results of this study can be summarized as follow: 1. The majority of child care directors(55.0%(control), 46.9%(experimental)) received food sanitation education but 70% of control and 75.7% of experimental group did not conduct any practical sanitation training for employees. 2. The employee's food sanitary practices of control and experimental did not show any significant difference at the pre-test level but only the experimental group showed a significant improvement at the post-test level. 3. The sanitary knowledge of food service employees between two groups did not show any significant difference at the pre-test level, but a significant knowledge improvement was observed at the post-test level such as food poisoning concepts and sanitary equipment maintenance only in experimental group. 4. Dicrectors' sanitary practices affected the employees' sanitary practices but directors' food sanitary knowledge did not have much influence on the employees' knowledge.

The Effects of Education Program on Knowledge and Intention of Breast Cancer Screening in Taiwan

  • Aims: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a breast cancer screening educational program on women's knowledge and intention to seek breast cancer screening in Taiwan. Materials and Method: This study describes the knowledge and intention of breast cancer screening changes during the period pre and post group education. A pre-test and post-test were used in both the experimental and the control groups. A convenience sampling was used. Two structured questionnaires were used. Results: The mean knowledge of breast cancer screening scores (pre-test and post-test) of the experimental group participants were 12.6 and 14.0. Then the mean knowledge of breast cancer screening scores (pre-test and post-test) of the control group participants were 11.8 and 12.1. The mean intention of breast cancer screening scores (pre-test and post-test) of the experimental group participants were 11.4 and 13.5. And the mean intention of breast cancer screening scores (pre-test and post-test) of the control group participants were 11.6 and 12.4. An independent-t test was applied to examine the differences among the two groups, revealing that the average post-test knowledge score differ significantly between the two groups (t =4.18, p<.00); and the post-test intention also demonstrate a marked statistical difference (t = 2.07, p<.05). A paired-t test was applied to examine the differences of each group, revealing that the total average scores of the experimental group participants on the knowledge of breast cancer screening scale clearly differ statistically (t =-5.54, p<.00); and the pre-test and post-test intention testing also demonstrate a marked statistical difference (t =-7.70, p<.00). Conclusions: These findings are helpful in understanding the knowledge and intention of breast cancer screening changes during the period pre and post group education. It is expected that these results can offer a reference for clinical breast cancer prevention.

Factors Affecting Competency of Infection Control of MultiDrug-Resistant Organisms among Nursing students (간호대학생의 다제내성균 감염관리역량에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing competency for Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms (MDRO) infection control in nursing students with clinical practice experience. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from May 2020 to August 2020 by including 175 nursing students in two nursing schools located in Daegu. The data were collected using self-report questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression. Results: The competency of MDRO infection control was 3.41.±0.38. The attitude to patient safety management and - knowledge of MDRO infection control were 3.81±0.47 and 16.98±3.02, respectively. Factors influencing the competency of MDRO infection control were perceived benefit(β=.38, p<.001), knowledge toward MDRO infection control(β=.21, p=.001), attitude in patient safety management(β=.17, p=.028), and perceived barrier(β=-.15, p=.029) with an explanatory power of 34.2%. Conclusion: A systemic education program regarding MDRO infection control is needed for nursing students to provide knowledge related to MDRO infection control and help establish positive beliefs toward MDRO infection control and attitudes in patient safety management.

A study on the correlation between knowledge of COVID-19, risk of exposure to subjective infectious diseases, and infection control practice for dental personnels (치과 종사자의 코로나-19의 지식도와 주관적 감염성 질환에 대한 노출위험도, 감염 관리 실천도의 관련성 연구)

  • This study investigated the relationship between knowledge of COVID-19, the risk of exposure to subjective infectious diseases, and the degree of infection control practices for dental personnel. For dental personnel currently working in dentistry, a survey consisting of 10 questions about COVID-19 knowledge and 63 questions about infection control practices was conducted. This study analyzed 126 survey data collected by distributing questionnaires form May 30 to June 20, 2020. Data was analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. The average level of knowledge of COVID-19 was 5.44 out of 10, the average risk of exposure to infectious diseases was 3.86 out of 5, and the average level of infection control practices was 4.05 out of 5. The risk of exposure to infectious diseases was positively correlated with dental waste (r=.184). It was found that there was a significant positive correlation between infection control practices and sub-factors of infection control practices (p<0.001). To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and infectious diseases and to reduce the risk of exposure to infectious diseases for dental personnel, the practice of infection control should be improved. It is necessary to cultivate infection control experts and have mandatory infection control education and social regulations.

The Analysis of Factors affecting Workers' Knowledge Sharing Intention in a University Hospital (일 대학병원 근로자의 지식공유 의도에 미친 영향분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis factors affecting workers' knowledge sharing intention in a hospital. This study is based on personal factors such as perceived incentives, perceived reciprocal benefits, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norm. Also, there are organizational factors such as organizational climate, CEO's support, rewards system, trust, and IT system. Data were assessed using 107 employees who work at C university hospital in Chunkcheong-do and collected with self-administered questionnaires from April 1 to 13 in 2013. This study was analyzed SPSS 18 by using frequency and multi regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows. First, knowledge sharing intention among personal factors was statistically significant in perceived behavioral control. Second, the awareness of knowledge sharing intention among organizational factors was turned out to be positive effect for CEO's support and trust. This study was identified a couple of factors affecting knowledge sharing intention between personal and organizational factors. The the implications of these factors are discussed and areas for developing hospital management strategies are fostered knowledge sharing.

A Comparison of Two Teaching Strategies on Nutrition Knowledge, Attituddes and Food Behavior of University Students

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of two teaching strategies, benefit appeal, on the nutrition knowledge, attitude toward nutrition and food behavior of 165 university students. We presented university students with either a treat appeal, which emphasized the risks of not-following the recommendations, or a benefit appeal, which emphasized what was to be gained if respondents followed recommendations. We assigned a random sample of 165 students either to a control group or to one of two experimental groups : a threat- or benefit-appeal group. Only respondents in the experimental groups received brochures, but all respondents completed pre- and post- test questionnaires. Students in the benefit appeal group demonstrated significant increases in both nutrition knowledge and more positive attitudes about nutrition education after participation. The control group, however, had no significant increase in knowledge at post-testing. Significant positive correlations resulted at post-testing between nutrition knowledge and attitude, as well as attitude and food behavior for the experimental group. Results from this study suggest that a change in nutrition knowledge precedes a change in attitude. The benefit appeal group appeared to be most effective in changing nutrition knowledge, attitude toward nutrition, and food behavior. (J Community Nutrition 2(2) : 159∼163, 2000)

  • The roof crane system is used for transporting a variable load to a target position. At this time, the goal of crane system is transporting to a goal position as soon as possible with no rope oscillation. Generally crane is operated by expert's knowledge, but recently automatic control with high speed and rapid transportation is required. In this thesis we developed fuzzy controller of crane which has simplified expert's knowledge base for anti-swing and rapid tansportation to goal position.

  • Process failures can occur at any time during operation, so a continuous effort of fault detection, diagsis, and correction is required. Expert system paridigm has been regarded as a promising approach to real time process supervisory control especially to fault diagnosis. The most important aspects of fault diagnostic expert systems(FDES) are the problem-solving inference strategy and knowledge organizations. The necessity of FDES, the nature of diagnostic knowledge, the representation of knowledge, and the inference mechanism of FDES, et al. are described, which are announced by previous researchers. And the existing FDES are categorized and critically reviewed in this work.
