케이블센서를 이용한 2차원 위치측정 시스템 (A Two-Dimensional Position Sensor Using Cable Extension Transducers)

  • Based on the cable-extension transducers, a new technique for two dimensional position measurement is developed in this paper. This new technique includes the use of two such transducers and the planar position is determined through triangulation. This paper also presents uncertainty analysis results for establishing sensor design specifications. An actual prototyped sensor system is built and its accuracy is verified through h\both experiments with coordinate measurement machines and its application to the real-time control of a high load wheeled mobile robot. This new type of position sensor can be easily used in a wide variety of automation applications in industry for two dimensional position measurements with high accuracy over a relatively large range, and it is both cast effective and robust against hostile environments.

  • Flexural resistance evaluation of FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) was performed according to the grain size of rolled copper foil by adding 0.1wt% silver (Ag) and electrodeposited copper foil by slitting method after heat-treatment. These methods are aimed at enhancing the flexural durability of the FFC by growing the grain size of copper foil. By increasing the grain size of the copper foil and minimizing the miss-orientation at grain boundaries, the residual stress at the grain boundaries of the copper foil is reduced and the durability of the FFC is improved. Maximizing an average grain size of copper foil can be got a good solution in order to enhance the durability of the FFC or FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board).

사장교에서 다양한 불확실성에 대한 μ-제어기의 강인성 해석 (Robust Analysis of a μ-Controller for a Cable-Stayed Bridge with Various Uncertainties)

  • 본 연구에서는 벤치마크 사장교를 이용해 다양한 불확실성에 대해서 복합시스템에 사용된 ${\mu}$-제어기의 강인성 해석을 수행하였다. 복합 시스템에 추가적으로 사용된 능동제어 장치로 인하여 전체 시스템의 강인성이 저하되거나 불안정성이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 복합 시스템의 강인성을 향상 시키기 위해 기본적으로 신뢰성이 확보되는 수동장치와 함께 불확실성을 포함한 시스템의 성능과 안정성(강인성능)을 보장하는 ${\mu}$-합성법을 능동제어 장치에 사용하였다. 교량상판에 추가적인 질량, 구조물 강성행렬에 대한 섭동, 능동제어 장치의 시간지연, 그리고 이들의 조합을 이용하여 ${\mu}$-합성법의 강인성을 조사하였다. 수치해석 결과 다양한 불확실성에 대해 제안된 시스템은 제어성능의 저하 없이 뛰어난 강인성을 보여 주었다. 또한 제어시스템의 강인성은 다른 불확실성에 비해 구조물의 강성행렬 섭동에 더 큰 영향을 받는다. 따라서 ${\mu}$-합성법으로 제어되는 복합 시스템은 불확실성이 많은 지진하중을 받는 사장교에 개선된 제어기법으로 제안될 수 있다.

Study on mechanical behaviors of cable-supported ribbed beam composite slab structure during construction phase

  • The cable-supported ribbed beam composite slab structure (CBS) is a new type of pre-stressed hybrid structure. The standard construction method of CBS including five steps and two key phases are proposed in this paper. The theoretical analysis and experimental research on a 1:5 scaled model were carried out. First, the tensioning construction method based on deformation control was applied to pre-stress the cables. The research results indicate that the actual tensile force applied to the cable is slightly larger than the theoretical value, and the error is about 6.8%. Subsequently, three support dismantling schemes are discussed. Scheme one indicates that each span of CBS has certain level of mechanical independence such that the construction of a span is not significantly affected by the adjacent spans. It is shown that dismantling from the middle to the ends is an optimal support dismantling method. The experimental research also indicates that by using this method, the CBS behaves identically with the numerical analysis results during the construction and service.

New algorithm for simulating heat transfer in a complex CPFS (Cable Penetration Fire Stop)

  • In this work the dynamic heat transfer occurring in a cable penetration fire stop system built in the firewall of nuclear power plants is three-dimensionally investigated to develop a test-simulator that can be used to verify effectiveness of the sealants. The dynamic heat transfer can be described by a partial differential equation (PDE) and its initial and boundary conditions. For the shake of simplicity PDE is divided into two parts; one corresponding to the heat transfer in the axial direction and the other corresponding to the heat transfer on the vertical layers. Two numerical methods, SOR (Sequential Over-Relaxation) and FEM (Finite Element Method), are implemented to solve these equations respectively. The axial line is discretized, and SOR is applied. Similarly, all the layers are separated into finite elements, where the time and spatial functions are assumed to be of orthogonal collocation state at each element. The heat fluxes on the layers are calculated by FEM. It is shown that the penetration cable influences the temperature distribution of the fire stop system very significantly. The simulation results are shown in the three-dimensional graphics for the understanding of the transient temperature distribution in the fire stop system.

Fault Detector and Length Measurement of Electric Cables Based on Frequency Waves

  • This research presents an approach to simultaneously detect the faults and measure the length of the electric cables. This approach is easy to use and inexpensive. Moreover, it can be applied to any kinds and sizes of the electric cable. This paper uses 750V $4{\times}4$ Sq.mm. cables. The concept is to send the 2 kHz pulse into the electric cable. When the pulse bumps into the fault, it bounces back. Then, the total time the pulse travels back and forth and the shape of the pulse after bumping are inspected using the pulse detector and pulse converter. Next, the signal obtained is modulated with 10 MHz carrier pulse to segregate into several small pulses before sending to 8-bit counter. The length of the electric cable can be obtained using microcontroller and the location of the faults can be seen on the LCD screen. This approach can be used to inspect the electric cables with the length of at least 15 m.

  • 동축 케이블이나 케이블 쌍을 사용하는 유선전송 시스템에 있어서 케이블의 전송특성에 의한 손실은 케이블 길이와 주위온도에 따라 변화하며 항상 $\sqrt f$ 특성 형태를 취한다. 이러한 형태의 손실을 보상하기 위해 궤환과 순방향 공급 경로의 직렬결함을 이용한 자동조절 능동가변 등화기를 제시하였다. 본 논문에 제시한 자동조절 능동가변 등화기는 종래의 수동가변 등화기가 가지고 있던 인덕터의 필요성, 복잡한 설계과정, 그리고 매우 복잡한 현대 전자제어 시스템과의 비 양립성 등 대부분의 결점을 제거시켜 준다. 또한 이러한 설계는 다른 능동가변 등화기 설계에 비해 많은 이점을 가지고 있으며 특시 1MHz이하에서의 정확한 등화에 응용할 수 있다.

  • VOD 서비스는 디지털케이블과 IPTV의 가입자 수가 증가하면서 방송사업자들의 주요 수익모델로 자리 잡고 있으며 방송사업자, 통신사업자, 단말기 제조사들이 추진하고 있는 N-스크린 서비스의 핵심 전략으로 부상하고 있다. 이런 배경 속에 디지털방송 사업자들은 자신의 VOD 서비스를 더욱 활성화하기 위해 사용자의 만족도가 높은 VOD 모바일 서비스 제공에 노력하고 있다. 본 논문은 N-스크린 전략을 통해 VOD 서비스를 활성화 하고자 하는 국내 모(某) 디지털 케이블 방송사업자의 요구사항을 기반으로 개발된 VOD 모바일 앱을 소개한다. 본 VOD 모바일 앱은 방송사업자가 발간하는 VOD 가이드북과 연계된 프로모션 기능, 찜하거나 검색한 VOD 프로그램을 TV로 바로 시청할 수 있는 기능, 스마트폰으로 촬영한 동영상을 TV로 시청할 수 있는 기능 등을 제공한다.

철도차량 수를 유연하게 구성할 수 있는 통신시스템 구현 (Implementation of Communication to Flexibly Configure the Number of Railway Cars)

  • This paper presents the implementation for a network structure of railway cars using a point to point communication. Most of network's representative specifications for a train are the FIP (Field Bus), MVB (Multifunction Vehicle Bus), CAN and WTB (Wire Train Bus) which is used by ALSOM, SIEMENS and BOMBADIER as major in this field. These networks in a physical layer use a multi-drop method, connected from $1^{st}$ car to $n^{th}$ car of a train through a cable without any extra services such as an electric part, amplifier. However waveforms which is passed through a long cable in the multi-drop are distorted by a capacitance or resistance of the cable or environments. Also since using a cable connected directly from $1^{st}$ car to $n^{th}$ car, if over two trains make double head, it isn't easy to distinguish ID for each railway cars. So by using the point to point network per each car, it is able to reduce a distortion. Also since reducing distortion, this communication speed can be been higher and transmit and receive any packets more stably. Using proposed token in a packet, this can make ID per each railway car automatically. Finally experimental results show the good performance and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Structural health monitoring system for Sutong Cable-stayed Bridge

  • Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS) works as an efficient platform for monitoring the health status and performance deterioration of engineering structures during long-term service periods. The objective of its installation is to provide reasonable suggestions for structural maintenance and management, and therefore ensure the structural safety based on the information extracted from the real-time measured data. In this paper, the SHMS implemented on a world-famous kilometer-level cable-stayed bridge, named as Sutong Cable-stayed Bridge (SCB), is introduced in detail. The composition and core functions of the SHMS on SCB are elaborately presented. The system consists of four main subsystems including sensory subsystem, data acquisition and transmission subsystem, data management and control subsystem and structural health evaluation subsystem. All of the four parts are decomposed to separately describe their own constitutions and connected to illustrate the systematic functions. Accordingly, the main techniques and strategies adopted in the SHMS establishment are presented and some extension researches based on structural health monitoring are discussed. The introduction of the SHMS on SCB is expected to provide references for the establishment of SHMSs on long-span bridges with similar features as well as the implementation of potential researches based on structural health monitoring.
