  • We investigated the foodservice management practices in various operation types of childcare centers in Asan, Chungnam Province, with the intention of improving the quality of foodservice and providing the basic information for establishing more effective and efficient foodservice model system. Self-completed questionnaires were collected from the directors of 174 child care centers. The statistical analysis was completed using SPSS Ver. 12.0 program. The followings are about the results of this study. Approximately 94.8% of the directors were women with the average age of 40.3. All of the investigated facilities executed foodservice; the facilities of 96.2% had been self-operated, 1.9% was contract-managed and the remaining 1.9% served delivered meal from outside. Only 20.0% of the investigated centers employed a dietitian. In most of the centers, meals were prepared in a conventional manner and approximately 85.3% of the centers are serving only snacks twice a day as a supplementary due to financial difficulties. Menu planner of the facilities, which have no dietitian was the director (35.8%) or the cook (25.7%). In most centers, the directors purchased the food materials (67.5%). Material inspection was done by the director (54.9%) or the cook (40.5%). However, home care centers did not inspect the food material. These results indicate that food service management guidelines need to be established by the facility type with the government control and financial support. Especially, dietitian employment and the efficient foodservice model system establishment are questions that confront us.

  • Is it lawful to withhold or withdraw life-sustaining treatment applied to a patient in a terminal condition or permanent unconscious condition? In Korea, there are no such laws or regulations which control affairs related to the withholding or withdrawal life-support treatment and active euthanasia as the Natural Death Act or the Death with Dignity Act in the U. S. A. And in addition there has had no precedent of Supreme Court. Recently Supreme Court has pronounced a historical judgment on a terminal care case. The court allowed the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment from a patient in a permanent unconscious state. Fundamentally the court judged that the continuation of that medical treatment would infringe dignity and value of a patient as a human being. And the court required some legal grounds to consider such withdrawal or withholding of medical care lawful. The legal grounds are as follow. First, the patient is in a incurable and irreversible condition and already entered a stage of death. Second, the patient executed a directive, in advance, directing the withholding or withdrawal of life-support treatment in a incurable and irreversible condition or in a terminal condition. Otherwise, at least, the patient's will would be presumed through his/her character, view of value, philosophy, religious faith and career etc. I regard if a patient is in a incurable and irreversible condition or in a terminal condition, the medical contract between a patient and a doctor would be terminated because of the actual impossibility of achievement of it's purpose. So I think the discontinuation of life-sustaining care would be legally allowed without depending on the patient's own will.

  • Only one person should be responsible for many area of works at a small construction sites with less than contract amount of USD 0.3 million. therefore, he can not be an expert in one area. Actually, this kind of small projects are not controlled by the Government because those small size of projects are exempted in following the Government control, due to certain level of small size. The above reason makes those small projects loose with an aspect of safety management without safety consciousness and safety management. The Government makes his effort to decrease nationally accident occurrences but there is considerably deep limitation to achieve a certain level of goal despite a fact that there have been more than 100 workers died annually. It is expected that some proposed management ideas technique with behavior-based safety management can be contributed to decreasing accidents at small construction sites.

  • Electronic voting has been followed by a lot of research as it provides convenience to voters and increases participation rates. Nevertheless, electronic voting has not been widespread yet. The existing electronic voting system does not guarantee credibility, and there arises a question on the security that the voting could be forged or altered by the attack to the central server. In this paper, we proposed blockchain based systems to solve the problems in electronic voting. Although the blockchain may guarantee the security of transaction data, there have been only a few electronic voting systems implemented using the blockchain. We developed blockchain enabled voting and brought out some of its related legal, technical and operational challenges to enforce more security in voting. Unlike centralized voting, the systems could enforce security and solve the problems such as forgery or alteration of transaction data caused by hacking or any attempts to gain control of the central server system.

  • Blockchain, recognized as one of the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, is an Internet-based distributed data management system which does not require centralized control. Blockchain is characterized by the integrity and reliability of information, and blockchains can be used where such characteristics are required. Typical applications of blockchain include finance, transaction, and evaluation management. In this paper, we designed a blockchain-based evaluation management system that allows users to freely create and manage evaluation instances. Evaluation managers can create an evaluation instance according to their purpose and allocate evaluation items and evaluators. When the evaluators finish evaluating the evaluation items, the evaluation manager can aggregate the evaluation results for the instance. Someone, who want to perform evaluation for various purposes but do not have an evaluation system, can implement the evaluation system relatively simply by using this system. In addition, due to the characteristic of the blockchain, evaluators cannot modify the evaluation scores they have already recorded, and neither the system administrator nor the evaluation administrator can modify the evaluation scores. For this reason, the reliability of the evaluation increases.

  • Objective: To control the rate at which body weight drops, forefoot initiates floor contact with the limb relatively extended at each joint. However, when the knee joints could not extend enough with going down the stairs, the forefoot cannot be contact initially. The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between forefoot and whole foot in initial contract on soleus and tibialis anterior for health young adults when descending stairs. Design: A cross-sectional observational study design. Methods: Fifteen healthy young adults participated in this study. To compare between forefoot and whole foot in initial contact when going down the stairs, this study measured muscle activation on soleus and tibialis anterior. This study used the paired t-test to analyze the collected data and compare the supporting conditions. Results: After analyzing, the muscle activation of soleus was not statistically significant difference as 25.16% at forefoot initial contact and 24.37% at whole foot initial contact when descending stairs (p>0.05). However, the muscle activation of tibialis anterior muscle was significantly difference was 49.19% at forefoot contact and 71.55% at whole foot contact. Conclusions: The results of this study was that the muscle activation of the tibialis anterior was a higher at whole foot contact than that at fore foot contact when descending stairs. This study suggests that the landing strategy of the initial contact is a beneficial effect at the forefoot contact to maintain the postural balance and the muscle performance effectively when descending stairs in individuals with healthy young adults.

  • Background and Objectives For experiments on simulated burn, the preparation of an animal model is a very important step. The purpose of the current experiment is to design a simple and controllable method for the preparation of third-degree scald in a mouse model using the boiling water method. Materials and Methods A total of 18 Swiss mice were used. After the anesthetization, the mice were scalded by boiling water (100℃) using a mold with a 1 cm2 circle area on the dorsum at contact times of 3s, 5s, and 8s. After confirming that 8 seconds of scald can cause a third-degree scald, the skin samples were collected at day 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12, and analyzed by histopathological examinations. The wound retraction index (WRI) was also measured. Results Third-degree scald involving full-thickness skin was observed in the 8-second scald group, while a 3-second scald caused a superficial second-degree scald and a 5-second scald caused a deep second-degree scald. After third-degree scald, the burn wound continued to contract until day 14. Conclusion The scalding model of mice can be successfully established by the boiling water method. This method is easy to operate, it has a low cost, and it can control the scald depth by controlling the scald time. This is adequate to study skin thermal injury in the future. The scald model established by this method can last for 14 days.

  • Purpose - This paper has an objective to suggest reasonable criteria in choosing Incoterms 2020 rules for efficient and effective logistics management in that the Incoterms rules affect not only the rights and obligations of the parties to the sales contract but also the control and management of logistics system and transaction costs in the transaction. Design/methodology - An analysis of the various factors is needed to assess the positive or negative impact on global value chain in choosing Incoterms rules from a total logistics view. This study analyzes the impact of which the content of individual incoterms rules can have on the operation of international logistics systems under the global value chain from a strategic perspective to suggest reasonable criteria for selection of Incoterms rules depending on the transaction situation. Findings - Results of this study shows that consideration of various aspects which includes the characteristics of the products, logistics capabilities, infrastructure, transaction volume, operational cost, customs regulations, tax and accounting should be reflected in choosing the appropriate Incoterms rules. Therefore, in order to minimize the total cost and improve logistics performance, it may be helpful to develop a decision support model which allows users to select appropriate Incoterms rules based on various influencing factors. Originality/value - This Study is different from previous research which has mainly focused on the rights and obligations of the parties to the transaction regarding the transfer of risks and costs under the Incoterms. In addition, this study has significance in that it provides implications for export and import companies that can be able to use Incoterms as a strategic tool to efficiently manage the global value chain and improve supply chain performance.

  • Blockchain technology is widespread in everyday life and various industry fields. It guarantees integrity and transparency between blockchain network participants through a distributed ledger. The smart contract is modifying and managing the distributed ledger, which is the most important component of guaranteeing integrity and transparency of blockchain network. Still, smart contracts are also a component of blockchain networks, it is disclosed to network participants transparently. For this reason, the vulnerability of smart contracts could be revealed easily. To mitigate this, various studies are leveraging TEE to guarantee the confidentiality of smart contracts. In existing studies, TEE provides confidentiality of smart contracts but guaranteeing the integrity of smart contracts is out of their scope. In this study, we provide not only the confidentiality of smart contracts but also their integrity, by guaranteeing the CFI of smart contracts within TEE.
