  • In this paper, the optimal digital redesign is studied within the framework of fuzzy systems and dual-rate sampling control theory. An equivalent fast-rate discrete-time state-space model of the continuous-time system is constructed by using fuzzy inference systems. To obtain the optimal feedback gains developed in the continuous-time system, the constructed fuzzy system is converted into a continuous-time system. The developed continuous-time control law is converted into an equivalent slow-rate digital control law using the proposed digital redesign method. The digital redesign technique using a fuzzy model is employed to simulate the inverted pendulum dynamics.

  • Previous research has shown that the flow of patients around departments of geriatric medicine and ex-patients in the community may be-modelled by the application of a mixed-exponential distribution. In this proper we considered a ave-compartment model using a continuous-time Markov process to describe the flow of patients. Using a M/ph/c queuing model, we present a way of optimizing the number of beds in order to maintain an acceptable delay probability a sufficiently low level. Finally, we constructed a Java computer simulation, using data from St George's Hospital, London.

  • Most of supply chain simulation models have been developed on the basis of discrete-event simulation. Since supply chain systems are neither completely discrete nor continuous, the need of constructing a model with aspects of both discrete-event simulation and continuous is provoked, resulting in a combined discrete-continuous simulation. Continuous simulation concerns the modeling over time of a system by a representation in which the state variables change continuously with respect to time. In this paper, an architecture of combined modeling for supply chain simulation is proposed, which presents the equation of continuous part in supply chain and how these equations are used supply chain simulation models. A simple supply chain model is demonstrated the possibility and the capability of this approach.

  • We have developed a keyword spotting system for automatic speech editing. This system recognizes the only keyword 'MBC news' and then sends the time information to the host system. We adopted a vocabulary dependent model based on continuous hidden Markov model, and the Viterbi search was used for recognizing the keyword. In recognizing the keyword, the system uses a parallel network where HMM models are connected independently and back-tracking information for reducing false alarms and missing. We especially focused on implementing a stable and practical real-time system.

  • The consequence analysis for the unconfined vapor cloud explosion(UVCE) accident by the continuous release of butane vapor was performed and effects of process parameters on consequences were analyzed in standard conditions. For the case of continuous release(87.8 kg/s) of butane vapor at 8 m elevated height in the debutanizing process of tile naphtha cracking plant operating at 877 kPa & 346.75 K, we found that combustion ranges of dispersed vapor estimated by HMP model were 11.2~120.2 m and overpressures estimated by TNT equivalency model at 200 m were about 37.35~55.1 kPa. Also, overpressures estimated by Model UVCE I based on advective travel time to $X_{LFL}$ were smaller than those estimated by Model UVCE IIbased on real travel time between $X_{UFL}$ and $X_{LFL}$. At the same time, damage intensities at 200 m and effect ranges by overpressure could be predicted. Furthermore, simulation results showed that effects of operating pressures on consequences were larger than those of operating temperatures and results of accidents were increased with increasing operating pressures. At this time, sensitivities of overpressures for UVCE accident by the continuous release were about 5 kPa/atm.

  • Identification theory for linear discrete system has been presented by a great many reference, but research works for identification of continuous-time system are less than preceding identification. In fact, a great man), systems for engineering are continuous-time systems, hence, research for identification of continuous-time system has important meaning. This paper offers the following results: 1. Corresponding relations for the parameters of continuous-time model and discrete model may be shown, when single input-output system has general characteristic roots. 2. To do identification of single variable continuity linear system with stability constraints from samples of input-output data, it is necessary to use optimization with stability constraints. 3. Main results of this paper may be explained by a simple example.

  • In this paper, we develop intelligent digitally redesigned PAM and PWM fuzzy controllers for nonlinear systems. Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is used to model the nonlinear systems and a continuous-time fuzzy-model-based controller is designed based on the extended parallel-distributed-compensation method. The digital controllers are determined from existing analogue controllers. The proposed method provides an accurate and effective method for digital control of continuous·time nonlinear systems and enables us to efficiently implement a digital controller via pre-determined continuous-time TS fuzzy-model-based controller. We have applied the proposed method to the balancing problem of the inverted pendulum to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the method.

Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model is used to model the nonlinear systems and a continuous-time fuzzy-model-based controller is designed based on the extended parallel-distributed-compensation(EPDC) method . • Control Theory for continuous-time system has been well developed. Due to the development of computer technology, digital control scheme are employed in many areas. When delays are in control systems, it is hard to control the system efficiently. Delays by controller-to-actuator and sensor-to-controller deteriorate control performance and could possibly destabilize the overall system. In this paper, a new approximated discretization method and digital design for control systems with multiple state, input and output delays and a generalized bilinear transformation method with a tunable parameter are also provided, which can re-transform the integer time-delayed discrete-time model to its continuous-time model. Illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed method.

  • In this paper, we consider a continuous time risk model involving two types of dependent claims, namely main claims and by-claims. The by-claim is induced by the main claim and the occurrence of by-claim may be delayed depending on associated main claim amount. Using Rouch$\acute{e}$'s theorem, we first derive the closed-form solution for the Laplace transform of the survival probability in the dependent risk model from an integro-differential equations system. Then, using the Laplace transform, we derive a defective renewal equation satisfied by the survival probability. For the exponential claim sizes, we present the explicit formula for the survival probability. We also illustrate the influence of the model parameters in the dependent risk model on the survival probability by numerical examples.
