  • As we go about our daily lives, people often collect surrounding information and adapt to the situation. Computer development trends show that one wants computers to work like human beings, i.e. computers can sense its context and adapt corresponding to context changes. To implement this expectation, a context aware service layer is needed. In this layer, sensors capture its environment and send this information to the service center. Considering received information as its context, the service center seeks the suitable operation according to the context. Tills paper presents a context aware service which is applied in controlling air-conditioner. The air-conditioner includes sensors which are installed at some special positions in a room. Each of these sensors gathers comfort-influenced information like temperature, humidity and sends them to air-conditioner. The air-conditioner adapts its operation to the environment according to the sensed information. To control the air-conditioner effectively, we use a genetic algorithm which is suitable in adaptation issues. The simulation shows that the room condition can be maintained at a comfortable level by using context-aware services in the operation of the air-conditioning system.

  • In the future, the ubiquitous computing environment will provide users with context-aware services, intelligently interacting with omnipresent resources and surrounding environments at any location and time. Therefore, the ubiquitous computing environment requires context-aware applications in order to gather and analyze context information in various situations. However, existing context-aware applications have mainly focused on providing services and adapting themselves to users based on user related contexts. But this environment requires not only user related contexts but also Quality-of-Service (QoS) related contexts. In this paper we propose a frame-work for supporting user-oriented QoS in ubiquitous environments. The proposed approach adopts a semantic ontology and a neural network algorithm in order to reason about explicit and uncertain contexts. We also show the possibility of applying the framework to real environments such as collaborative engineering service, automobile maintenance service and ubiquitous home service.

  • In seeking to improve the workload efficiency and inference capability of context-aware systems, we propose a new framework for an advanced teaming mechanism that uses improved bath propagation (BP) algorithm. Even though a learning mechanism is one of the most important parts in a context-aware system, the existing algorithms focused on facilitating systems by elaborating the learning mechanism with user's context information are rare. BP is the most adaptable algorithm for learning mechanism of context-aware systems. By using the improved BP algorithm, the framework we proposed drastically improves the inference capability so that the overall performance is far better than other systems. Also, using the special system cache, the framework manages the workload efficiently. Experiments show that there is an obvious improvement in overall performanre of the context-awareness systems using the proposed framework.

  • Context-aware services recognize the context of situation environments of users and provide useful services according to the context for users. Usual rule-based systems can be used for context-aware services with the specified rules that express context information and operations. This paper proposes a light-weight rule engine that minimizes memory consumption for resource-constrained smart things. The rule engine manages rules at the minimum condition level, removes memories for intermediate rule matching results, and uses hash tables to store rules and context information efficiently. The implemented engine is verified using a rule set of a mouse training system and experiment results shows the engines consumes very little memory compared to the existing Rete algorithm with some sacrifice of execution time.

  • This study suggests a system for preventing and coping with diverse industrial accidents available for taking place in the industrial field by designing a context-aware system of the solar cell equipment with the use of multi-sensor. It installs multi-sensor in the surrounding and major positions of the solar cell equipment, acquires data on the surrounding situations and solar cell equipment from this device, and then save it into the local memory and transmits it to the server. The saved data recognizes a situation based on the context-aware algorithm and judges depending on the perceived result. An administrator comes to have environment available for monitoring the status on the production field and equipments with real time according to the judged outcome through the context-aware algorithm. The context-aware system in the industrial field, which is put today in the ubiquitous environment, will become a service of offering appropriate information for dealing with industrial accidents through real-time inspection.

  • In this paper, we propose a system which can perceive status of semiconductor equipment and evaluate its performance. The proposed system acquires the information such acceleration, pressure, temperature and gas sensors in the surrounding semiconductor equipment. After acquiring information, it is sent to server through multi hop transmission. The transmitted data generates 3 steps alarm using context-aware algorithm of unit or multiple event. From the experiment's result of the proposed system, we confirm that the reliability and efficiency of information is more improved about 80% than a system that doesn't use context-aware algorithm. Moreover, this system can be effective status monitoring of semiconductor equipment because lots of client nodes acquire surrounding information.

  • Context awareness using intelligent system is emphasized in order to provide automatic services in home automatic system. In this paper, we propose the intelligent context-aware system for home automation. To implement home automation, we first collect various events occuring in user's home, which are saved as a case form. We use the saved data as a training data of a neural network algorithm and then apply to intelligent context aware system for home automation. This system provide "right situations do right things" for user. Also this system has intelligent ability.

  • To enhancing the exercise effect, exercise management systems are introduced and generally used. They create the proper exercise program through exercise prescription after determining the personal body status. When the exercise programs are created, they will consider $2weeks{\sim}3months$ period. And, existing exercise programs cannot respect with personal exercise habits or exercise period which are changing variedly. If exercise period is long, it can be caused inappropriate exercise about user current status. To solve these problems in legacy systems, this paper proposes a Context Aware Exercise Model (CAEM) to provide the exercise program considering the user context. Also, we implemented that as Intelligent Fitness Guide (IFG) System. The IFG system is selectively received necessary measurement values as input values according to user's context. If exercise kinds, frequency and strength of user are changing, that system creates the exercise program through exercise optimization algorithm and exercise knowledge base. As IFG is providing the exercise program in a real time, it can be managed the effective exercise according to user context.
