This study is conducted to evaluate the effects of containerized landscape tree production methods on post-transplant stress. Two types of container such as plastic pot(pot), fabric growing bag(bag) were adopted to restrict tree roots. Each types of containers was divided into seven sub-types. One traditional production method was included as comparison. Two landscape woody plants species (Magnolia denudata, Albizzia julibrissin) were implanted in the 7 sub-types of container. After one or two growing season in the container, each types of container trees was transplanted. Half of the trees were transplanted in the mild spring season, and another half of trees were transplanted in the improper summer season. The data were collected on the crown wilting ratio and trunk die-back ratio. The result of the analysis based on these data were as follows; 1) The container production methods were lower than the traditional production methods by 3 times in the average wilting ratio of summer season's transplanting point. 2) Post-transplant stress was more successfully mitigated, in case the "pot" type as was the "bag" types of container. 3) The effective and economic way of mitigating post-transplant stress by container production methods was selecting container plants of vigorous and deep root systems. 4) The "pot" type of container was to restrict tree roots more successfully, But, winter chilling and low temperature attacked the "pot" type tree's twigs and suckers. These results indicated that "pot" grown container plants should managed carefully during the winter after transplanting. Based upon the results of this study, a subsequent research on the development of container material, growth type of the container trees, and other maintaining method will be required.es, and other maintaining method will be required.

This study was conducted to evaluate the growth rate of landscape trees produced in containers for three year, and the growth rate of the establishment period during sixth month~twelve months after transplanting. Two types of container such as plastic pot(pot) and fabric growing bag(bag) were adopted to restrict tree roots. Each type of container was divided into seven sub-types. One traditional production method was included as comparison. Two landscape woody plant species (Magnolia denudata, Albizzia julibrissin) were planted in the seven sub-types of container. After one or two growing season in the container, the trees of each container type were transplanted. Half of the trees were transplanted in the mild spring season, and the other half were transplanted in the improper summer season. The data was collected on the diameter of root cellar and the tree height in each year. The research results are as follows; 1. Container production method was lower than the traditional production methods by 1.3 times ~ 2 times in the growth rates. 2. The Geocell bag and Root control bag revealed higher growth rates than pp-woven bag. And pot- in-pot(double pot)system revealed higher growth rates than the ether container pot system in A denudata. There were no differences in the growth rates between container production system in Albizzia julibrissin. 3, The growth rates of improper transplanting trees was high in the \"pot\" type - \"bag\" type - \"control\" in descending order. Especially, the growth rates of \"pot\" type revealed higher than \"control\" by 4 times. 4. From the results of ANOVA and Ad hoc test, the variable of growth factors of each container types in improper transplanting experiment was not significant for a range of 5% or 1% level. And the growth rates of traditional production method was lower than the container production method. 5. There was no differences in growth rate between the containerized and the traditional production system in the case of proper transplanting experiment. The growth rates of diameter of root collar was higher in the \"control\". The growth rates of tree height was higher in the \"bag\" type. Finally, based upon the results of this study, subsequent research on the development of container materials and maintaining methods that focused on the growth rates would be required.aintaining methods that focused on the growth rates would be required.

This study is conducted to evaluate the effects of root restriction on growth of maple(Acer palmatum Thumb.). Tow types of container such as clay pot(CP), root control bag(RCB) were used to restrict maple's root and each type of container was divided into 5 sizes. The containers with plants were buried just below the soil level and maples planted directly in the soil (nonrestricted root treatment) were included as comparison. Data were collected on dry weight of leaf, trunk, thick root, rootlet and soil water potential. We have analyzed, simple linear regression, Pearson's Correlation analysis, Duncan's multiple rang test, and Covariance Analysis using SAS statistical software. The results of analysis based on these data are as follows; 1. Total dry weight of maple in CP was significantly larger than in RCB. 2. Difference in growth reduction by the kinds of containers was induced by different hydraulic diffusion ratios between container and soil. Difference in growth reduction by the size of container was induced by the difference density of rootlet and soil moisture contents in the container. 4. Commercial products of root control of root control bag appeared not proper for countries in which fluctuation of rainfall is severe. Because maples in RCB were restricted by excess soil water in the rainy season, or by lack of soil water in the dray season.

This paper presents an implementation of a smart plant pot which can supply light and water automatically according to the result of detection on current temperature, humidity and illumination, and deliver the images of the plant realtime by using a camera installed in the pot. We designed a container of the plant pot divided into five layers, printed each of them with a 3D printer, and then assembled them. Inside of the container, we installed sensors, a pump, and a camera. We developed an Android application so that the user can control the plant pot and monitor its state. In communication between the Android application and the Raspberry Pi, MQTT protocol was utilized.

This study evaluated the quality characteristics for optimization of premix-type Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) Soksungjang (BS). First, according to the amount of salt (8, 10, 12%), coliform counts were not detected in BS with 10 or, 12% salt at 21 days and Bacillus subtilis HJ 18-4 as a starter at 7 days. Therefore, 10% salt with starter culture might be considered as suitable conditions for safety. Second, according to the ratio of water (1:1, 1:1.5, 1:1.8), BS prepared with the same weights of meju powder and water showed the highest aminotype nitrogen content (688.76mg%) at 35 days; thus, an adequate fermentation state was established at this condition compared to others. Third, according to the type of container (pot, plastic, glass), the aminotype nitrogen contents were higher in the plastic container and pot than in the glass bottle. Lastly, according to the batch size (1.25, 2.5 kg), the coliform of the 2.5 kg sample decreased faster than that of 1.25 kg samples at 14 days. These results suggest that BS prepared with the same ratio of water and meju powder fermented with HJ 18-4 as a starter and 10% salt in a pot, plastic container (3 weeks) and glass container (4 weeks) showed desirable fermentation qualities.
When highly shrinkable materials such as coir dust are major component of root media, the degrees of compaction during container filling of root media severely influences the physical properties of root media. It results in the changes in total porosity (TP), container capacity (CC) and air-filled porosity (AFP). This research was conducted to secure the fundamental information in changes of soil physical properties as influenced by the compaction of root media during container filling. To achieve this, three root media were formulated by blending coir dust (CD) with expanded rice hull (CD + ERH, 8:2, v/v), carbonized rice hull (CD + CRH, 6:4) and ground and raw pine bark (CD + GRPB, 8:2). Based on the optimum bulk density, the amount of root media filled into 6.0, 7.5, 8.5, 10.5 and 12.5 cm were adjusted to 90, 100, 110, 120 and 130% based on the weight of root media. Then the changes in TP, CC, and AFP were measured. Elevation of the packing amount of root media in all sizes of pot resulted in the decrease of TP. But the decrease was more severe in CD + ERH and CD + CRH than those in CD + GRPB. The CC also decreased gradually as the packing amounts were elevated in three root media, but the decreases were severe as the container sizes became larger. The AFP decreased drastically by the elevation of the packing amount of root media in all sizes of pot. The AFP was the highest in CD + CRH medium when pot sizes were smaller than 7 cm, but that was the highest in CD + ERH when the pot sizes were larger than 8.5 cm among the 3 root media tested. In this research, the elevation of packing amount of three root media influenced more severely the AFP rather than CC. This result indicates that the packing amount should be controlled to maintain appropriate level of AFP because AFP rather than CC influence severely crop growth. The results obtained through this study can be used to predict the changes in physical properties of root media as influenced by packing amount in various sizes of pots.

In North Korea, the production of courage tombs continues, and it is known that the activity rate is higher than that of old tombs. However, pot seedling are planted using hoes and shovels used for planting old tombs with exposed roots and low activity rates. This is believed to result in excessive force when stepping on the container grave with a hoe in the planting process, resulting in the collapse of the container grave or the waste of labor due to the creation of unnecessary planting holes. Therefore, when planting courage graves at North Korean afforestation sites, it is necessary to improve the work of making planting holes using general hoes in a way that improves labor productivity in a more efficient manner. As part of inter-Korean technical cooperation to improve the North Korean afforestation method, this study was conducted with the aim of developing efficient container seedlings and using them for North Korean forest restoration projects. It is believed that developing planting equipment exclusively for container graves for forest restoration in North Korea in South Korea and providing equipment and production technology to North Korea can contribute to the development of forest restoration technology in North Korea. If the Yonggeomyo Development Planting Equipment is provided to North Korea, it will be a realistic inter-Korean forest cooperation project to avoid international sanctions by recognizing the excellence of the development products by directly using its own materials through technical cooperation.

The purpose of this study was to utilize hydroculture by the vital means of the improvement of indoor relative humidity. This experiment employed a search of the effect of Scindapsus aureus and Syngonium podophyllum that are generalized for hydroculture foliage plant by a difference of volume ratio, pot media and plants species. In the case of Scindapsus aureus, relative humidity was high for growth chamber in which plants presented as opposed to control growth chambers in which there were no plants. Although relative humidity was 25% in control chamber, there was an increase of 40% at a 2% volume ratio, 45% at a 3% volume ratio and 50% at a 5% volume ratio. The relative humidity of Syngonium podophyllum was 40% at a 2% volume ratio, 44% at a 3% volume ratio and 46% at a 5% volume ratio, while the control treatment was 25% relative humidity in hydroculture. Both the control treatment and hydroball pot in a hydroball container were high at first. As time progressed, artificial soil pots in water containers was similar when housed within the control chamber by about 45% relative humidity. Hydroball pots in water container had about 30% relative humidity. Ardisia pusilla of hydroball poIt in hydroball container had about 38% relative humidity.
Tn establish the criteria for appropriate seedling production method in the summer, the effect of container size and seedling age on the growth and yield were evaluated with tomato. The seedling quality was higher when seedlings were grown polyethylene in 9cm pots than in 72 cell plugs. Seedling quality increased with increase in seedling age in polyethylene pots, whereas seedling age did not affect seedling quality in plug trays. Fruits matured earlier on plants started from pot-grown transplants for a long duration than with plug tray-grown transplants for a shorter duration. Not only total yield in 4 months, but the early yield in the first 2 months, was higher with pot-nursed transplants than with plug tray-nursed transplants. With pot-grown transplants, The early yield in initial 2 months was the lowest in 25 day-old transplants, whereas there was no significant differences between 35- and 45-day-old transplants. Seedling age did not affect the cumulative yield for 3 months after the first harvest. With plug tray-grown transplants, the cumulative yield tar initial 3 months was the highest in plants grown for 35 days in the nursery, followed by 25 day and 45 day. However, there were no significant differences among seedling ages in the total yield.
This study investigated the effects of various cultivation pots on Betula platyphylla var. japonica seedlings in order to select suitable pots for the production of healthy seedlings for the ecological revegetation. We used six types of the pots natural pot, natural pot with inside 5 mm width root turning bump, natural pot with inside 10 mm width root turning bump, negative-phototropism pot, negative-phototropism pot with inside 5 mm width root turning bump, and negative-phototropism pot with inside 10 mm width root turning bump. As greenhouse cultivation provided a high level of control of irrigation and temperature, the seedlings did not show any significant differences in plant height, number of branches, and diameter at root collar, but showed a significant difference in root growth among the different types of pots. The root growth was best in the negative-phototropism pot. In the negative-phototropism, the roots grew in a vertical shape, while they grew abnormally in a spiral shape in the natural pots. In outdoor cultivation, the growth of seedlings showed significant differences according to container types. The seedlings grown in specially manufactured negative-phototropism pots were most excellent in all of the height, number of branches, diameter at root collar and root growth. As for the seedlings grown in the negative-phototropism pots, their roots grew vertically and thus their rooting was well established after they were transplanted outdoor. A size of less than 5 mm ridge installed in the negative-phototropism was found to be appropriate for the seedling growth. These results showed that the negative-phototropism pot would be best suitable for the growth of Betula platyphylla var. japonica seedlings and for the production of seedling for ecological revegetation.
