옥천변성대 북동부 황강리 지역내 앰피볼라이트의 변성작용 (Metamorphism of the amphibolites in the Hwanggangri area, the northeastern region of Ogcheon metamorphic belt, Korea)

  • 황강리 지역내 앰피볼라이트에 대해 주요 광물군으로 변성분대를 설정해 보면 각섬석-양기석대(H-AZ), 각섬석대(HZ), 투휘석대(DZ)등 세 개의 변성분대가 인지된다. 그 특성을 보면 열적 영향을 가장 많이 받은 투휘석대에서 각섬석대 그리고 각섬석-양기석대가 발달하고 있어 화강암체로부터 거리가 멀어지면서 접촉변성작용의 변성도가 감소하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 본암의 광물군들을 종합 분류해 보면 (1) 양기석+사장석+녹니석, (2) 양기석+각섬석+사장석+녹니석$\pm$녹염석$\pm$흑운모, (3) 양기석+각섬석+사장석$\pm$혹운모$\pm$녹염석, (4) 각섬석+사장석$\pm$흑운모$\pm$녹니석, (5) 각섬석+사장석+투휘석+양기석$\pm$녹염석$\pm$녹니석, (6) 각섬석+사장석$\pm$투휘석$\pm$흑운모$\pm$녹염석 등 크게 여섯 가지 그룹으로 나뉘어 진다. 이 지역의 앰피볼라이트는 두 번의 변성작용을 받은 것으로 인지되고 있는데 첫 번째 변성작용은 옥천변성대에 우세하게 작용한 중압형의 광역변성작용으로 본암에서 조립질에서 중립질의 각섬석류 입자의 중앙부의 양기석을 성장시켰으며 변성도는 녹색편암상에서 녹염석-앰퍼볼라이트상에 이르렀다. 이에 중침된 두 번째 변성작용은 주변의 화강암체에 의한 접촉변성 작용으로 변성도는 최대 상부 앰피볼라이트상의 저압부에 이른 것으로 사료된다. TWEEQU지은지압계와 각섬석-사장석 지온계에 의한 계산에 따르면 초기 광역변성작용의 변성조건은 4.6-7.3kb의 압럭하에 온도가 $439-537^{\circ}C$의 범위를 가지며 최고 온도, 압력범위는 $492-537^{\circ}C$, 5.2-7.3kb의 값에 이르는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 백악기 화강암의 관입으로 인한 접촉변성작용의 변성조건은 2.6-5.2kb의 압력하에서 온도가 $588-739^{\circ}C$의 범위를 가지며 최고 온도, 압력범위는 $697-739^{\circ}C$, 3.8-5.2kb내에 분포하고 있으며 온도상승과 압력강하의 변성진화과정을 겪은 것으로 추정되고 있다.

Mating Relationship between the parent and the mutant strains in Pleurotus ostreatus

  • Pleurotus ostreatus 'Miso' is a mutant strain showing white color in pileus from the known parent strain 'Wonhyeong 1'. Shape and several other characters also vary with culture conditions. Mating experiments were performed to understand interstrain mating relationship using monokaryons of the parent and the mutant strains. All monokaryons were grown from single spores isolated from freshly collected fruit bodies. Pairings were performed in 90 mm petri dishes on PDA. They were allowed to grow at 25 until two fronts of the advancing mycelia met and developed a conspicuous contact zone. The contact zone and the outer edges of paired colonies on each plate were examined for clamp connections. The parent and the mutant resulted in tetrapolar incompatibility in intrastrain crosses. In interstrain crosses, each monokaryotic tester strain of the parent strain was out-crossed to monokaryotic tester strains of the mutant. As a result of these crosses it was found that both strains share the same A and B incompatibility factors yielding 25% compatibility.

Consideration of the Frictional Force on the Crack Surface and Its Implications for Durability of Tires

  • In order to find out a physical quantity which controls the fatigue life of a structure and to predict the fatigue life of tires, a finite element simulation methodology to use the cracking energy density (CED) and the virtual crack closure technique (VCCT) was proposed and applied to three different tires of a similar size. CED was calculated to predict the location of a crack initiation, and VCCT was used to obtain the strain energy release rate (SERR) at the tip of an initiated crack. Finite element simulations showed that SERR oscillated in the circumferential direction with its minimum occurring just before the contact zone and its maximum occurring just after the center of the contact zone, and SERR was affected significantly by the frictional force acting on the crack surface. In addition, a durability test was conducted to measure the fatigue life of the three tires. The comparison of SERR values with the test data revealed that the fatigue life increased as the amplitude of SERR decreased or as the R-ratio of SERR increased.

  • Currently knowledge of strain in welds has mainly been obtained from strain gaging method: that is directly attaching most of the material to the gage. The very few non-contact methods are still in the early stage. One of the non-contact methods is by the use of the laser that has high-level of the accuracy for the measurement, and this laser also has excellent characteristics on which many studies for its applications are focused throughout the many fields. A method of study is on the measurement of the strain caused by the characteristics of the spot welded zone which is used with 3-D ESPI system that is functionally modified through the laser ESPI(Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry) system. This system employed the SGCC 1.2t which are mainly used for the steel plate such as automobile, structure, building material and electronic appliances.

Modeling of unilateral effect in brittle materials by a mesoscopic scale approach

  • This work deals with unilateral effect of quasi-brittle materials, such as concrete. For this propose, a two-dimensional meso-scale model is presented. The material is considered as a three-phase material consisting of interface zone, matrix and inclusions - each constituent modeled by an appropriate constitutive model. The Representative Volume Element (RVE) consists of inclusions idealized as circular shapes randomly placed into the specimen. The interface zone is modeled by means of cohesive contact finite elements developed here in order to capture the effects of phase debonding and interface crack closure/opening. As an initial approximation, the inclusion is modeled as linear elastic as well as the matrix. Our main goal here is to show a computational homogenization-based approach as an alternative to complex macroscopic constitutive models for the mechanical behavior of the quasi-brittle materials using a finite element procedure within a purely kinematical multi-scale framework. A set of numerical examples, involving the microcracking processes, is provided. It illustrates the performance of the proposed model. In summary, the proposed homogenization-based model is found to be a suitable tool for the identification of macroscopic mechanical behavior of quasi-brittle materials dealing with unilateral effect.

Application of the Preliminary Displacement Principle to the Temper Rolling Model

  • A mathematical model for the analysis of roll gap phenomena in the strip temper rolling process is described. A new approach to solve the roll indentation and diverging problem in modeling of severe temper rolling cases is obtained by adopting the preliminary displacement principle of two contacted rough bodies to describe the friction behavior in the roll gap. The mechanical peculiarities of the temper rolling process, such as a high friction value with high roughness rolls and a non-circular contact arc, low reduction and non-negligible entry and exit elastic zones as well as central preliminary displacement zone etc., are all taken into account. The deformation of work rolls is calculated with the influence function method and an arbitrary contact are shape is permitted. The strip deformation is modeled by the slab method and the entry and exit elastic deformation zones are included. The preliminary displacement principle is used to determine the boundaries and to calculate the friction of the central preliminary displacement zone. The model is calibrated against the production mill data and installed in the setup computer of a temper rolling mill in POSCO. The validity and precision of the model have been proven through a comparison of the measured roll forces and the predicted ones.

Ramp Loading 피코 슬라이더의 거동 해석 (Dynamics of a Pico Slider during the Ramp Loading Process)

  • Recently, a load/unload(L/UL) system is adopted to the hard disk drive(HDD) due to its advantages such as lower power consumption, larger data zone, simpler fabrication of disk due to no bumped parking zone, and rarer contact between slider and media. An analysis of the transient motion for the slider is very important to design an air bearing surface(ABS) of the slider to secure the stable performance of the system. During the L/UL process, however, there are several issues occurred such as contact or collision between slider and media. Sometimes this will cause the system failure. In this study, the dynamics of a pico slider during the loading process are investigated through numerical simulation using FEM analysis and experiment. Ramp profile and angular velocity of the swing arm actuator are very important parameters for the design of L/UL system to avoid collision between slider and disk.

대기 습도변화에 따른 콘크리트 보수체의 비정상적인 습도응력 조사 (Non-Stationary Stress Analysis of Repaired Concrete Structures due to Hygral Transient Condition)

  • 본 연구에서는 대기 습도변화에 의한 콘크리트 보수체(기층 콘크리트/보수 모르터)의 파괴현상을 조사하기 위해서 보수체내의 비정상적인 습도분포 및 습도응력을 계산하였다. 이러한 계산은 시멘트 모르터로 보수된 접촉면이 없는 보수체에서 보수층 두께(Do=05-2.5cm)와 보수 작업전 기층 콘크리트 표면의 습윤처리 시간(tc=1-5days) 및 대기습도(Ho=50~80%)를 주요변수로 하여 수행되었다. 계산 및 조사 결과에 의하면 접합면의 응력이 압축상태를 유지하기 위해서는 각 대기 습도마다 일정값 이상의 보수층 두께와 습윤처리 시간이 필요함을 알 수 있다.

Cu-TiB2 복합재료의 마모거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wear Behavior of the Cu-TiB2 Composites)

  • The titanium $diboride(TiB_2)$ has high strength(750MPa), high melting point $(3225^{\circ}C)\;and\;10\%$ IACS electrical conductivity. On this account, the dispersion hardening $Cu-TiB_2$ composites(MMCs) are a promising candidate for applications as electrical contact materials. MMCs for electrical contact materials can reduce material cost and resource consumption caused by wear, due to its good mechanical and electrical property. In this study, we attempt to prepare MMCs with various volume fraction and particle size of $TiB_2$ by means of hot extruded and cold drawn process. Dry sliding wear tests were performed on a pin-on-disk type wear tester, sliding against SM45C under the different applied loads. After wear testing, the microstructures of the worn surfaces were observed by SEM and the microhardnesses of the subsurface zone were measured.

철원군 승일교 인근의 화강암 지형 경관 (Granite Landforms in the Vicinity of Seungil-gyo Bridge at Cheorwon, Central Korea)

  • 본 연구는 강원도 철원군 명성산 화강암과 현무암 용암대지 사이의 접촉대인 한탄강 승일교 인근 지역의 독특한 경관을 형성하고 있는 화강암 하천 침식 및 퇴적 지형과 풍화 지형 분석을 다루고 있다. 주요 화강암 지형으로서는 심층풍화된 구릉, 면상침식지형, 고지형면 및 고토양, 하천작용과 관련된 미지형으로 돌개구멍과 그루브, 램 파트형의 암괴, 사주와 사력퇴, 그리고 구하상 등이 있다. 그리고 풍화가 덜 진전된 구릉의 일부로 하천의 측방이동을 방해하는 화강암 하식애 지형이 있다.
