  • This study investigated the determinants of Tap Water consumption patterns. Socio-demographic variables(gender, family income, education level, residual area) and consumer attitude knowledge(confidence, knowledge, problem experience, risk perception and aesthetic satisfaction)were included in the analysis. Three hundred fifty-nine teachers were participated in this study. ANOVA(Scheffe test), t-test, regression and logistic regression were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Tap water was consumed by only 1.7%, boiled water prior to drinking by 37.9%, water filtered by 39.8% and bottled water by 19.0%. 2. Consumer attitude knowledge was affected by socio-demographic variables. That is, aesthetic satisfaction was affected by age, risk perception by gender and educational level, confidence by educational level, knowledge by gender and age, and problem experience by age. 3. Logistic regression analysis indicated that age, confidence and aesthetic satisfaction were the determinants of bottled water or filtered water choice. However, risk perception was not a significant determinant. This suggests alternatives to tap water is related to non-risk, or non-safety factors.

  • We cluster the electricity consumption of households in A-apartment in Seoul, Korea using Hierarchical K-means clustering algorithm. The data is recorded from the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and we focus on the electricity consumption during evening weekdays in summer. Compare to the conventional clustering algorithms, Hierarchical K-means clustering algorithm is recently applied to the electricity usage data, and it can identify usage patterns while reducing dimension. We apply Hierarchical K-means algorithm to the AMI data, and compare the results based on the various clustering validity indexes. The results show that the electricity usage patterns are well-identified, and it is expected to be utilized as a major basis for future applications in various fields.

  • The issue of hotel energy use is growing more significant as the hotel industry expands. It is important to take into account the electrical installation and space-specific features in a room unit in order to comprehend the energy consumption of a hotel guestroom. In light of this, this study aimed to analyze standby power for enhancing the energy efficiency of a hotel guestroom during check-out status. This study was conducted in three steps: (i) data collection; (ii) analysis of energy consumption patterns; and (iii) analysis of energy efficiency improvement plan. The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, 32.24% of energy was used in fan coil unit) during check-out status. Second, a hotel guestroom had a 4.30% energy saving potential, based on energy consumption patterns during check-out status. This study can contribute to support hotel management to operate guestrooms differently by helping them identify patterns in energy use and realize potential savings.

  • In the paper, we summarize the result of the experimental research for the overload criteria of domestic distribution transformers considering the electric consumption patterns of customers. For the basic characteristic data of distribution transformer overload, the actual experiments are accomplished. The field data of loads are surveyed from sample transformers for analyzing the consumption pattern of customer load. The load data acquisition devices are equipped, and the algorithm of load pattern classification is applied. In addition to this efforts, various load pattern data. in past are gathered. Then the representative load pattern of each customer type in domestic is extracted. The final results of overload criterions are presented as tabular form through the results of experiments and survey are combined. The field test of the experiment results is peformed using the special manufactured transformers, which can measure both the load and top-oil temperature of transformer. Through this, we verify that the results of field test are similar to the laboratory one and the Proposed overload criteria can be effectively applied to the real system.

  • One hundred twenty healthy college students and housewives from urban middle income household were investigated in terms of food consumption patterns, nutrient intake and dietary fiber intake. Total food intake was slightly lower in college students(1059.9g/d) than in housewives(1160.g/d) . However, the ration of animal food to total food was considerably higher in college students(23.7%) than in housewives(16.8%). College students tended to consume more dairly products, meat & products, and cereals & grain products but less vegetables , fruits, fish and shellfish than housewives. Although nutrient intake was not much different (except for total calories, fats, and ascorbic acid), dietary fiber intake was slightly and significantly lower in college students(14.9g/d, 8.3g/1000kcal) than in housewives(16.9g/d, 103g/1000kcal) . That is partially due to college students irregular food habits and the change in their meal patterns from traditional to western diets. There was a significantly positive correlation between dietary fiber intake and thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and crude fiber intake.

  • The reduction of recovery time for delay, in the train movements, is generally realized through train operations in the shortest running time and it leads to maximum energy consumption. At the region of this shortest running time, the amount of energy consumption is sharply reduced according to the running time. So the effect for the energy savings can be largely obtained by furnishing a little spare time on train operations. In this paper, it has been modelized the delay and it's enlargement phenomena and formualted the relief patterns in order to restore the delay by restraint and relief of precedent traints. Also it has been proved the number of relief trains for minimum energy consumption exists and then represented one example of relief patterns.
