A Study on the Estimation of the Ownerships of Bicycles by Spatial and Social Factors in Urban Area (도시의 공간적, 사회적 요인에 따른 자전차 보유도 추정에 관한 연구)

  • While bicycles are an exhaust-free and low energy consuming mode of transport, the use of them is getting decreased. The aim of this research is to find out current levels of bicycle ownership and to estimate the ownerships of the bicycles by spatial structure and social factors in the metropolitan area. The parameters which affect on the characteristics of the bicycle ownership are classified into aggregate and disaggregate categories. The ownerships of the bicycles are estimated by the multiple regression analysis using urban characteristics data and the binary logit analysis using household characteristics data. The results of this study to population, car ownership, and number of male in the household, and negatively by the population density.

  • Average throughput estimation of EV-DO forward link is implemented on the basis of the serving coverage area per sector instead of time consuming and complicated Monte Carlo simulation. For the implementation of this analysis function in cell planning tool, $CellTREK^{(R)}$, developed by KT, both SNR vs. DRC mapping table and receiver sensitivity are suggested as the satisfying criteria to be satisfied above each threshold level simultaneously.

  • The harness design process consists of repetitious routines to decide the wire configuration in its interior. A slight change in one of the wire's configuration will require a total reconfiguration of the entire wire system. Therefore, the harness design is extremely time consuming and is vulnerable to human errors by an engineer. Based on both electrical and mechanical area, Wiring Harness system is in complicated area. Existing systems are, therefore, not exactly suitable for practical use. This paper presents a novel framework for ameliorating existing system's defects. In this paper, Visio and Visual Basic was interfaced to process wire bundle information and wire bundle location to alleviate problems mentioned beforehand concerning harness design; at the same time developing the automation of the entire design process based on the feature based design method, optional print, and management of documents for reuse.

  • A long-term sewer rehabilitation project consuming an enormous budget needs to be conducted systematically using an optimization skill. The optimal budgeting and ordering of priority for sewer rehabilitation projects are very important with respect to the effectiveness of investment. In this study, the sewer rehabilitation optimization model using fast-messy genetic algorithm is developed to suggest a schedule for optimal sewer rehabilitation in a subcatchment area by modifying the existing GOOSER$^{(R)}$ model having been developed using simple genetic algorithm. The sewer rehabilitation optimization model using fast-messy genetic algorithm can improve the speed converging to the optimal solution relative to GOOSER$^{(R)}$, suggesting that it is more advantageous to the sewer rehabilitation in a larger-scale subcatchment area than GOOSER.

  • Recently According to the development of the medical technology and medical machine, People's concern with health promotion has improved. Futhermore, medical consuming pattern has significantly changed, and requires diverse health check-up services. This study represent the standards for the spatial composition and area calculation of the Health Promotion Center according to domestic situations. The present conditions and space programs of 4 general hospital's Health Promotion Centers were investigated and analyzed for this purpose. This study suggest a basic study on the architectural planning of the Health Promotion Center.

Guidelines of 2D Pattern Development Process for 3D Fitted Cover of Character Toys (캐릭터 인형용 밀착커버 패턴개발 프로세스의 가이드라인)

  • The industry of character toys is increasing and new characters are constantly being developed. However, the development of 2D cover patterns for toys is time-consuming due to frequent pattern modifications made through trial and error. Studies are now underway to obtain 2D clothing patterns from 3D body data, however, little research has been done on 2D pattern of character toys. This study suggests efficient guidelines to develop 2D cover patterns with a reasonable accuracy and processing time. Two 3D models of a dog and rabbit were used to develop 2D cover patterns. Independent variables of this study are set as 3 levels of triangle area (small, medium, and large) that influence the efficacy of 3D and 2D pattern development. The determination of the appropriate triangular area was based on the area and shape change of the 2D pattern. A medium or large triangle area was shown to be suitable for a character dog with a smooth curved surface. However, the appropriate triangle area was small if the characteristics of the curved surface are complicated as in the case of rabbit. The head of a dog (a double-curved surface) and the curved forepaw of a rabbit (a triangular area) should be small when the characteristics of the curved surface (such as the hind leg of a rabbit having a large convex surface and a small surface area) are complicated. Grouping by 3D surface characteristics could be a suitable guideline for the triangle area selection.

  • Recently, soybean production and market price are unstable, even if demand of soybean is maintained. Diverse conditions such as climate change, a decrease in rural population, and consuming affect food industry. In this situation, food security is soaring as important key-word again, and MAFRA is promoting policies for improving soybean self-sufficiency with the goal of 40% until 2030. The point of policy is to extend a production and stabilize a demand for soybean with supporting large-scale soybean paddy-field complex. According to the background, soybean breeding and production research in NICS are proceeded with three parts. First, production improvement with soybean cultivation land enlargement and high-yield cultivar development. Various growth period soybean cultivars for double cropping, irrigation management technologies in paddy field, and hyper-yield and specific-region adaptable cultivar development. Second, reduction of production expense with mechanized cultivation and digital-based field management technologies. Third, consumer-friendly and high quality soybeans with high protein cultivar for alternative protein usage and high food process-ability for soy milk, tofu, soybean sprouts, and grain usage. Each part need to be combined and advanced to improve soybean industry and soybean self-sufficiency.

Evaluation and Comparison of Land Consumption Efficiencies of Transportation Modes (교통수단의 토지소모 효율성 비교분석)

  • This study attempts to evaluate and compare the land consumption efficiencies of various urban transport modes, utilizing the time-area method. With the careful considerations of travel conditions and modal characteristics, equations for the computation of time-area for various different modes are derived. With the appropriate assumed values of parameters, time-area consumptions per person per km for each mode both for peak and off-peak situations are computed and evaluated. The relationships between the time-area consumed and operating speed for each mode are graphically demonstrated and discussed. An example of the time-area consumed for a hypothetical commuter round-trip using various modes are also presented in order to clearly show the consumption of parking requirements by specific modes. It shows that regardless of facilities used, auto users are by far the worst in terms of area efficiency and that transit, especially rail rapid transit, is a superior mode. Pedestrian and bicycle, though consuming more than expected, also demonstrate the advantage in case of a short-distance trip in terms of area efficiency compared with the bus transit modes.

Estimating using the method of adaptive searching observation (적합탐색 관찰방법을 이용한 추정)

  • We propose an adaptive searching method using some spatial relations among sample points to estimate the interesting area in the spatial population. The fundamental idea is to observe the neighboring sample points when a sample point is satified with some condition of an adaptive searching observation. For obseving the sample points with this method to estimate the area the sample size is decreased. From this result, we may expect to reduce the cost and time consuming in observation the sample points and to draw the shape of the interesting area without prior information of an spatial population. Some analytical simulation results are also presented.

  • The design and implementation of an engine control system has become an important area in developing a new car, but the implementation of an engine control system is becoming a tedious and time-consuming work as the level of complexity increases. In order to shorten the development cycle of the control system, rapid control prototyping (RCP) technique deserves developers' attention. A new RCP platform has been developed for an automotive engine control application. This prototyping system strictly adheres to the layered architecture of the final production ECU, and separates the automatically generated part of software, or the application area, from the hand coded area, which generally carefully designed and tested because of the hardware dependency and the efficiency of microcontroller. The $Matlab{\circledR}$ tool-chain of Mathworks Inc. has been selected as a base environment in this study. A newly developed Engine Control Toolbox of Real-Time $Workshop{\circledR}$ converts a graphically represented control algorithm into optimized application codes and links them with other parts of the software to generate executable code for the target processor.
