The purpose of this study was to investigate the levels of risk perception characteristics for food risk elements using a psychometric paradigm from 298 university students in Yeungnam region, Korea, by a self-administered questionnaire. The respondents showed the highest level of risk concern about radioactive contaminated foods and the lowest level about GM (genetically modified) foods. In the risk perception characteristics for food risk elements, they perceived radioactive contaminated foods as a catastrophic, worried, new, and uncontrollable risk. In addition, they regarded food additives and foodborne illness as a chronic, controllable, old, and scientifically and individually known risk. According to the results of the factor analysis for risk perception characteristics, dread and unknown were categorized. In the risk perception map, mad cow disease, heavy metal contaminated foods, and radioactive contaminated foods were considered as a dreaded and unknown risk, whereas pesticide residues and GM foods were perceived as a less dreaded and unknown risk. Additionally, food additives and foodborne illness were regarded as a less dreaded and known risk and endocrine disruptors and avian influenza as a dreaded and known risk. These results imply that risk perception characteristics of consumers should be considered to establish strategies for risk communication in food science.

Contemporary consumers interested in fashion develop global tastes regarding consumption and senses on how much certain products cost in the global market place. Demand for foreign brands and products produced a new type of e-tailor called surrogate Internet shopping malls. Due to the unfamiliarity of such retailers, consumers may perceive different types of risks and may show different styles of seeking informations. The research interest of this study was to investigate the differences of risk perception and information search between surrogate e-mall shoppers and general e-mall shoppers. In addition, we examined the influence of these two variables on consumer satisfaction. A survey questionnaire was developed. Measures of three types of e-shopping risks (delivery, transaction, service), information search and satisfaction were included. Data from surrogate e-mall consumers and general e-mall consumers were statistically analyzed. Surrogate e-mall shoppers showed a higher level of product delivery risk and customer service risk than general e-mall shoppers. They also spend more time in seeking information before making purchases. Regression analysis showed that perceived risk had significant influence on information search and consumer satisfaction for surrogate e-mall shoppers, whereas for general e-mall shoppers, no significant influence was detected. The findings should assist marketers and academics in their understanding of the surrogate e-shopping malls.
The purpose of this study was to define the purchase behavior of online luxury fashion brand consumers that soon became new luxury consumption trends. To investigate online luxury fashion brand consumer's purchase behavior, three variables were suggested based on advanced researches. These variables include economic value, item variety and pleasure. Purchasing luxury online was not common but as cross-border online shopping market became popular, consumers began to purchase luxury items through online shopping platforms. Preliminary surveys was conducted on 20~40-year-old consumers who have experience in online shopping for luxurious items. Total 238 questionnaires were used for analysis. By using SPSS, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, t-test and ANOVA were conducted. The results of the study were as follow; first, consumer's purchase behavior appeared to be influenced by the order of pleasure of shopping, economic value and item variety. Repurchase intention appeared to be affected by the order of economic value, item variety, and pleasure of shopping. Second, online luxury fashion consumers perceived that risk does not affect purchase intention and repurchase intention. Third, as purchase intention increases, repurchase intention also increases. Fourth, shopping value, age and channel risk also indicated meaningful differences. As an early study of luxury fashion brand products purchased directly online, the academic significance can facilitate an overall understanding of consumer behavior such as usage motive, risk perception, behavioral intention.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the type of recommender system on consumer's perceived benefit and privacy risk. The result showed that the perceived usefulness and intension to click was high in the order of Hybrid-filtering, Bestseller, and SNS-based system. Privacy concern was high in order of SNS-based system, Hybrid-filtering, and Bestseller. Moderating effects of perceived personalization on the type of recommender system and perceived usefulness were significant. Finally perceived usefulness had positive effect, and privacy concern had negative effect on consumer's intension to click. This study has significant implications for digital marketing bt comparing consumer responses according to the type of recommended service. The result of this study can be helpful for providing and developing future recommender service.
Import Agency Service Mall, providing customers not only with convenient shopping experiences but also with purchasing, warehousing, shipping, and customs clearance services, have been playing a significant role in rapidly transforming Korean consumers into global consumers. The consumers' great demand for foreign goods(services) has created Import Agency Service Mall(referred to hereafter as IASM) as a new business model of distribution and consumption, which seems to be grown rapidly. This empirical research investigates online shoppers for their trust dimensions for IASM. Consequences of the research are as follows: First, perceived reputation, web-site quality have influenced upon e-trust dimension of the IASM. Second, the level of e-trust consumers is more higher, and then the level of perceived risk is more lower. Third, perceived risk have not influenced upon intention to reuse the IASM. Fourth, the level of e-trust consumers is more higher, and then the level of intention to reuse the IASM is more higher. It is necessary for IASM to be developed its reputation and web-site quality in order to obtain customer's trust. Accordingly, this research will be helping IASM have insight for marketing strategies, and constantly should be studied about action and mind of consumer.
Internet-based financial services are being increasingly integrated into consumers' daily lives. Internet-only banks have emerged as a powerful tool accelerating financial inclusion. This study investigates the satisfaction and continuous use intention predictors for Internet-only banks. We employed an extended post-acceptance model and used six antecedent factors that included perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, privacy risk, functional risk, subjective norms, and network externality. All 351 participants used Internet-only banks and were 20-40 years of age. A self-administration online survey was conducted. SPSS 23.0 analyzed the frequency, description, and multiple regression analysis. The results of current study are as follows. The education, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and network externality positively influenced the satisfaction of Internet-only banks. Privacy risk negatively influenced satisfaction with Internet-only banks. Perceived ease of use, subjective norm, network externality, and satisfaction positively influenced the continuous use intention of Internet-only banks. The results of our study provide a better explanation of important factors that could enhance the understanding of satisfaction and continuous use intention for Internet-only banks. Furthermore, this study extends the antecedent variables to the knowledge of financial services and enlarges the understanding of users' post-adoption behaviors.
Although e-commerce is growing fast, e-commerce consumers are still under higher risk and uncertainty in the comparison of the traditional commerce's. Consumer review boards of online shopping malls are good measures to help buyer's decision making, and should be managed effectively by sellers. We formulate the research model on consumer trust formation on seller managed web review boards on the background of previous literatures on e-WOM and trust. Our data analysis with 368 samples shows seller's reputation, e-service quality, perceived reviewer's benevolence and ability have significant positive effect on the trustworthiness of the board. Product involvement shows weak negative moderation effect on the relationship between perceived reviewer's benevolence and trustworthiness of review boards.
The use of mobile payment services has recently increased in South Korea. Mobile payments allow consumers to purchase items digitally, using a mobile card in an app affiliated with a payment service. This study explores the predictors of intention to adopt mobile payment services. The study employed an A(affective)-B(behavioral)-C(cognitive) model with two antecedent variables: cognitive (perceived usefulness, perceived risk, perceived ease of use, and perceived herding behavior) and affective (satisfaction with the status quo, innovation resistance) responses. An online survey of 405 non-users of mobile payment services aged 20 to 49 years was conducted. The study used SPSS 23.0 for descriptive analysis and Amos 23.0 for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. The results are as follows. First, perceived usefulness, perceived risk, and perceived herding behavior significantly influenced innovation resistance. Second, perceived herding behavior significantly influenced subjective norms. Third, innovation resistance and subjective norms significantly influenced the intention to adopt mobile payment services. The findings suggest that the A-B-C model can be useful in understanding consumers' adoption and resistance behaviors and that cognitive and affective responses are important antecedent variables affecting the decision to adopt mobile payment services.

Some consumers question the safety of imported fashion products. We examine the effects of the use of an ecolabel, product category, and country of origin on consumer responses such as perceived physical risk, attitude towards a product, subjective norm, and intention to purchase imported fashion products. A sample of 508 adults in their 30s to 40s participated in online survey experiments. The survey experiments used 2 (the use of the ecolabel vs no label) × 4 (country of origin: China, Dominican Republic, Norway, and the United States) between-subjects and 4 (product category: men/women's wear, children's wear, underwear, and accessories) within-sub-jects factorial design. A total of 32 product-catalog images (stimuli) and eight versions of the questionnaire were developed. The use of the ecolabel is identified as having a significantly lower perceived physical risk than the no-label. The consumers' perceived physical risk also differs depending on product category and country of origin. Consumers perceive a higher physical risk about children's wear and underwear than other product categories as well as fashion products sourced from developing countries than from developed countries. The reduction of physical risk is found to facilitate consumers' purchase decision-making process.
Prior researches related to private brands have mainly focused on the competition between private brands and national brands. But private brands can be allied with national brands to overcome its weak points such as low perceived quality. The purpose of this study is to investigate the consumer responses to the alliance between private brands and national brands. Especially this paper focused on the situation in which national brands are used as ingredient brands to improve the consumers' preference toward private brands. We hypothesized that using national brands as ingredient brands would improved the consumers' perceived quality and buying intention toward private brands. Also we supposed that when national brands had moderate congruity with product category, consumers' preference would be most positive. And this study examined the moderating effects of functional risk. Factorial experimental design and scenario method were employed to test the hypotheses. Also we classified the products as utilitarian-hedonic products and compared the effects of ingredient brands on utilitarian products with hedonic products. Empirical results show that when private brands use national brands as ingredient brands, consumer responses become positive. Also when ingredient brands have moderate congruity with products, consumer responses are most positive. But moderate congruity effect is significant only when functional risk is low.
