  • At construction sites, due to the reason of inconvenience and difficulties of producing and using curing equipment and when it comes to measuring compression strength of the actual structure, strength of structure concrete according to general standards which are suggested in concrete standard specification are assessed. However, this method does not consider various variables of the sites such as kinds concretes and sizes of frame works so that it is not easy to measure proper curing period and strength. Thus, this study reviews description of strength development according to In-situ temperature system and analyzes and compares properties of strength development of the existing curing methods such as sealing curing so that it provides basic materials for period of removal of molds.

  • Acoustic and pressure type seabed installed wave sensors have advantage in observing long period infra-gravity wave and tsunami, while buoy type wave gauges which measure acceleration of the moored buoy motion are not able to detect long period waves. That's why most of the Japanese coastal wave observation sensors are seabed installed typed ones. Nationwide Japanese coastal wave observation systems with seabed installed sensors are gradually clarifying long-period tsunami profiles and infra-gravity wave characteristics (Nagai.et.al., 1996, 1997,2000,2002a,2002b). • The biggest reason to prefer the remodeling is a relatively short period of time (5~6 years) compared to the reconstruction work that takes 8~9 years. In addition, from the perspective that the period of temporary residence is usually 24 months, the necessity of shortening is greater. Also, since the remodeling construction period is approximately 28~35 months on average, the strategies and efforts are needed to make up for the shortening the remodeling construction period. For these reasons, this paper is to develop an estimating model for normal project duration of apartment remodeling project. This model is reflected in the remodeling properties thorugh difference analysis of the new apartment construction project. Demolition works, reinforcement works, extension works are different, so this paper newly defines these construction work's duration in normal project duraion of remodeling. Case study and experts interviews are used to validate normal project duration. This model can be used to calculate rough construction period each alternatives, and will help a strategic decision making among the stakeholders.

  • This study was conducted to find out definition, specification and characteristics of water-proof method for pond at golf courses that located in the mountain in Korea. Water-proof method of pond was selected by location, kind of soil, area, depth, cost, construction period and so on. 1. Soil Bentonite Sealing Liner(SBL) is to mix soil with a good quality bentonite. Then the mixed material was dressed on the bottom of pond. $\\$Merit of SBL is to purify the water and planting is possible. It can also reduce construction period and is economical. It's easy to find out the leak points. Demerit of SBL is expensive, if good quality soil is not in constructing site. Shape of pond edge is simple. 2. Ethylen Propylene Diene Monomer Sheef(EPDM-Sheet) makes use of sheet that resists to acid and alkaline. EPDM-Sheet spreads out as a mat on the pond for water-proof. Merit of EPDM-Sheet is to perfectly prove water and make a diverse shape of pond edge. Demerit of EPDM-Sheet is not friendly to environment. It needs drain system, air ventilation and long period of construction. It is also difficult to find out leaking points in this method. 3. Water proof of ESS-13 uses ESS-13 that is resin of vegetable matter and friendly to environment. To prove water of pond, ESS-13 is delicate with water in the pond. After that, Ess-13 in the water is expanded at pore space in the soil and cover with soil. ESS-13 can be to prove a leaking pond in golf course under business. ESS-13 is cheap and it needs short construction period. It does not need to switch the old water-proof system, additionally. It needs to move fishes to other place before utilizing ESS-13.

  • The interest in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has risen remarkably due to the effects on construction work period reduction, cost reduction, work safety improvement, and other factors. In civil engineering field, BIM applications mainly focus on data modeling and virtual construction. In this study, we present the BIM-based virtual construction and analyze the effects of BIM for the railway facilities so that the conventional approach to the equipment operation plan can be improved in order to prevent safety accidents which can result from unclear information during the operation plan. The BIM-based virtual construction technology is applied to establish the construction plan for the site with constraints, the installation of steel girder needs to be completed, avoiding interference with the existing high-speed railway operation within a given limited time. A virtual construction model consisting of topography, structures, equipments, and avatar was built and more detailed model, including safety guard rails, was then created. Specifications of the construction equipment were input as a database, and the virtual construction model was manipulated in the equipment operation planning. Through the BIM-based virtual construction, including the verification of alternative construction method, 311 million won was saved and the construction period was shortened by 87 days compared to the original plan. In addition, it was shown that the interest and participation of the construction workers can be increased by providing the 3D virtual scene for real construction work and various safety hazards occurring during equipment operation can be effectively removed in advance by the interactive worker education.

  • Construction Standard Unit Price is the unit price calculated based on the market price for work items in construction projects that have already been conducted. It is used as basic data for calculating the budget price of public construction projects. In the Construction Standard Unit Price Book implemented in the second half of 2020, there are 1,810 types of unit prices. Since 2017, 100-150 construction standard unit prices have been revised semiannually (on January 1 and July 1 of each year) through Construction Site Surveys. Other work items have been set based on the rate of inflation during the corresponding period. Later in 2020, this procedure was changed, with on-site survey period extended to one year to strengthen the construction standard unit price investigation. The revisions previous announced during the second half of the year were changed only to reflect the price inflation rates. With such changes in the revisions to construction standard unit prices, one important issue that was raised: The timing of announcing the revisions during the second half of the year (reflecting the price inflation rates). The market unit wage, which is the unit price standard of labor cost that takes up a large part of the construction cost, is announced in January and September. The figures announced in September is reflected on the construction standard unit price four months later in January, but the market unit wage announced in January is reflected only six months after in July, which causes a timing issue. As such, the current study analyzed problems rising from the changed timing of the announcements of the construction standard unit price during the second half of the year, in addition to analyzing their impact on public construction projects.
