Estimation of Areal Reduction Factors for the Youngsan River Basin (영산강유역의 면적우량감소계수 산정)

  • By analyzing the concurrent rainfall data from rainfall gauges positioned in the Youngsan River basin, the areal reduction factors related to the rainfall characteristics of the Youngsan River basin are estimated. The estimated values are compared with the values of the Han River basin, and show that the rate of decrease of the areal reduction factors of the Youngsan River basin are smaller than those of the Han River basin as the basin area is increasing. That is especially true for short-term duration storm events. These findings reveal that the spatial variations in the Youngsan River basin's storms are smaller than the spatial variations of the storms In the Han River basin, due to the size of the two basin areas in addition to the topological characteristics that affect the rainfall distributions.

  • According to computer-based life style and computer networking system is generalized, the construction of information system based on the construction of database is one of the major jobs in the design field. The construction of standard database system is one of the major factors to build the information infra and develop design field as knowledge-base industry. However, the construction of user-based dassification of database is prior to that of standard design database system. This study presents the possibility of the construction of user-friendly and standard database system by studying the dassification system of database.

  • Inchon International Airport(IIA) is constructed for Northeast Asia Gate as is important for IIA to become a 21 century's leader in the world, as is planned for open at december 2000 as a important economic link for unified korea. Airport Power Information System(APIS) is designed through investigation of advanced domestic and international example. In addition to power facility operation it is designed for using an information infrastructure of whole airport. APIS is newly designed for uninterupted power supply, effective power management, information infrastructure's construction. making a profit by positively introduction of new technology for collection and conservation of power related data, correlation with airport infra systems, data interrelative arrangement about related systems like outdoor lighting system and automatic measuring record, CCTV systems for remote power facility monitoring, and promotion of management ability in the emergency status.

  • According to the functions of city are getting more complicate and diverse, recently the concerns about underground space have been risen, and many infra-structures for social activities are now constructed under the ground. To maintain these kind of infra-structures effectively, it is necessary for concerned workers to access easily to the existing drawings and design information. and to modify the design drawings immediately o the changes of design value. And in the field of construction, immediate structural analysis and generation of design drawings will help to promote manufacturing ability, the quality of products, and the effectiveness of maintenance of design materials effectively.

  • The major objective of this study is to investigate the effective maintenance system for the infrastructure on the conventional lines in which the tilting train runs. In order to the speed-up of conventional lines that have many curve lines, there needs a improvement construction of substructure such as the straight or double track work and so on. But in this case, it needs to have a plenty of the cost and the period. Therefore, the tilting train which provides the high-speed service effectively in curve tracks was developed. Besides, the efficiency prediction and the linear fitness of the existing conventional lines for a tiling train service were examined on the preceding study which was the development of track system innovation technology for speed-up of them. So, in this paper we propose the more effective maintenance method than the existing it in order to securing the high reliability and safety classified by the infrastructure, in analyzing foreign materials and the maintenance as well as the inspection cycle concerning domestic infrastructures of the track and the catenary etc. on the railway. And we look forward to playing a decisive role as reference material for the effective improvement of the existing maintenance about the infra on the conventional lines for the commercial service of the tilting train.

Design charts for estimating the consolidation times of reclaimed marine clays in Korea

  • To predict the consolidation behavior of dredged and reclaimed marine clays exhibiting consolidation settlement with large strains, the finite strain consolidation theory must be used. However, challenges in appropriately applying the theory and determining input parameters make design and analysis studies difficult. To address these challenges, design charts for predicting the consolidation settlement of reclaimed marine clays are developed by a numerical approach based on the finite strain consolidation theory. To prepare the design charts, a sensitivity analysis of parameters is performed, and influencing parameters, such as initial void ratio and initial height, as well as the non-linear constitutive void ratio-effective stresspermeability relation, are confirmed. Six representative Korean marine clays obtained from different locations with different liquid limits are used. The design charts for estimating the consolidation times corresponding to various degrees of consolidation are proposed for each of the six representative clays. The consolidation settlements predicted from the design charts are compared to those in previous studies and at an actual construction site and are found to agree well with them. The proposed design charts can therefore be used to solve problems related to the consolidation of reclaimed marine clays having large strains.

Seismic Fragility of Low-rise Piloti Buildings Designed According to KDS 41 17 00 (KDS 41 17 00에 따라 설계된 저층 필로티 건물의 지진 취약도)

  • The 2017 Pohang earthquake caused severe damage to low-rise piloti buildings. The damage was caused mainly by column shear failure, and some core walls were as well. The damaged piloti buildings in Pohang City could be relieved if they were designed correctly according to the standards at that time. However, the post-earthquake investigation revealed design, construction, and permission problems. To solve the problems, the Piloti Building Structure Design Guidelines that include strict specifications were published in 2018. Separately, KDS 41 17 00, the seismic design standard for buildings, was enacted in 2019 and it included the guideline contents. Therefore, at least after the publication of the guidelines, piloti buildings, designed by the standard and guidelines, can be expected to possess better seismic performance than existing piloti buildings. To confirm this, the probability of exceedance for several damage state thresholds was estimated for existing and designed piloti buildings. As a result, the probability of damage of designed piloti buildings was very low compared to existing ones. Consequently, it was confirmed that the guideline and standard adequately supplement the structural fragility of existing piloti buildings.

  • Ubiquitous city which was appeared since 2006 is defined as "The city provided the ubiquitous city service anytime and anywhere using ubiquitous urban infrastructure to improve the city's competitiveness and quality of life" under ubiquitous city construction law. To realize the ubiquitous city, the city has to be constructed efficiently based on the spatial information. And connection of information achieve effective synergy. In this study, applied multilateral analysis to spatial information and administrative information to implement u-service focused on MACCA(Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency). Study about main function and product data with connection process of Korean Land Spatialization System and administrative information System was performed. Also, details of u-service and method of acquiring necessary data were derived. In Addition, the information connection possibility for efficient u-service realization was suggested by linkage analysis method to utilize the related information infrastructure jointly.

Development of 3-D Flow Model for Porous Media with Scenario-based Ground Excavation (지반굴착 시나리오 기반의 다공성 매질에 대한 3차원 유동해석모델 구축)

  • In recent years, ground subsidence has been frequently occurred by underground cavities due to the excessive groundwater inflow, caused by poor construction and management, during tunnel excavation and underground structure construction. In this study, a numerical model (SEEFLOW3D) was developed to estimate groundwater fluctuations for saturated-unsaturated poros media, evaluates the impact on ground excavation with open cut and non-open cut scenarios. In addition, the visual MODFLOW was applied to demonstrate the verification of the model compared with both results. Our results indicated that the RMSE and NRMSE was obtained to range over -3.95~5.7% and 0.56~4.62%, respectively. The developed model was expected to estimate groundwater discharges and apply analysis tool for optimum design of waterproof wall in future.

Development of Web-Based VE Supporting System for Effective Workshop (효율적인 VE워크숍을 위한 웹기반 VE지원시스템 개발에 대한 기초연구)

  • Value Engineering methodology was introduced about 30years ago and has significant achievement in Korea. However, many of workshop still focus on cost down process and do not spend enough time on function analysis and expert cooperation. As a result, limited range of creative ideas were produced. To improve effectiveness of VE workshop, this study developed web-based value engineering process and system. And this study applied it to real case study to evaluate effectiveness of proposed system. Developed VE system also provides automated FAST diagram function and decision-making supporting tools. The authors found that this developed web-based VE system can significantly help to save cost and improve performance of VE workshop by using the appropriate VE process, and quick cooperation between experts. In addition, this study shows an example of a VE case study that applies the web-based VE system process, which led to a very innovative and effective way to lead workshop.
