1. Objectives: Leptin is ob-gene originated hormone that is concerned with energy metabolism, obesity and asthma which features are supposed to related with Sasangin's 4 viscera physiological theory of Sasang constitutional medicine(SCM). This study aims to investigate whether serum leptin concentration is associated with Sasangin. 2. Methods: Two Way ANOVA analysis was used on the constitution and serum leptin concentration corresponding with BMI among 1054 cases drawn from the Constitutional Information Bank, which was a database with clinically confirmed constitution cases collected from 21 oriental medical institutes in Korea starting from November 2007 to May 2009. The measurement of serum leptin concentration is implemented through radioimmunoassay by request to SCL. 3. Results: Male subjects showed notable difference(p=0.033) in the comparison between constitution and serum leptin concentration corresponding to BMI levels. Tae-eumins showed the highest serum leptin concentration levels in the normal and overweight groups, followed by Soyangin and Soeumin. As the groups changed from overweight to obese, there was an interaction phenomenon in the order of serum leptin concentration levels(p=0.040). As a result, Soeumins showed the highest serum leptin concentration levels and Tae-eumins and Soyangins followed in place. Female subjects did not show statistically notable differences in comparison between constitution and serum leptin concentration corresponding to BMI levels(p=0.239). Serum leptin concentration levels among overweight and obese groups, resulted in the order of Soeumins, Tae-eumins, and Soyangins. But in the as groups changed from overweight to normal the order resulted in Tae-eumin, Soyangin, and Soeumin(p=0.660). 4. Conclusion: Due to a number of limitations in this study, the examination of the relation between constitution and leptin, a main hormone responsible for the digestion, appetite, and energy metabolism, resulted to be uncertain. But statistically notable differences were confirmed in male Tae-eumins with the consideration of BMI. Further examination of the relation between constitution and leptin is necessary through prospective studies with the restriction of confusion variables in the future.

The methodology of constitution diagnosis is main concern in sasang constitutional medicine, but highly reliable method is not yet established. So we statistically analyzed the relationship between the constitution and characteristic factors of skin such as thickness, stiffness, roughness, and touch-feeling, using 1079 clinical data registered to SCIB(Sasang constitution Information Bank), and the following results are obtained: The skin of Taeeumin are more thick or more stiff or more rough than other constitutions. The skin of Soeumin are more soft or more feeble or more feeble-refined than other constitutions. The skin of Soyangin are more slippery or more thin or more slippery-refined than other constitutions. The differences written above were proved to be meaningful enough by Chi-square test.

1. Objectives This is the comparative study with hand-operated measurement method & Automatic measurement method, in order to convert the automatic measurement method. 2. Methods We measured the body of patients(hand-operated width 5 places and hand-operated circumference 8 places, Automatic width 5 places) and analyzed the anthropometric data dividing into sex, age, BMI. 1057 patients's data are used in the analysis. 3. Results and Conclusions 1) 5th Width variable which was measured during lying down was not a sasang constitutional difference. 2) Diagnostic accuracy rate of the body measurement by Width which was measured during lying down and Width which IBS standing was 40-60%. 3) Diagnostic accuracy rate of Automatic & hand-operated measuring was not a big difference.

1. Objectives Vocal characteristics are commonly considered as an important factor in determining the Sasang constitution and the health condition. We have tried to find out the classification procedure to distinguish the constitution objectively and quantitatively by analyzing the characteristics of subject's voice without noise and error. 2. Methods In this study, we extract the vocal features from voice selected with prior information, remove outliers, minimize the correlated features, correct the features with normalization according to gender and age, and make the discriminant functions that are adaptive to gender and age from the features for improving diagnostic accuracy. 3. Results and Conclusions Finally, the discriminant functions produced about 45% accuracy to classify the constitution for every age interval and every gender, and the diagnostic accuracy was meaningful as the result from only the voice.

1. Objectives: This study intends to identify the contents of Sasang Constitutional Diet through a book by Lee Je-Ma, to review the implied contents, and to analyze the influence of this information and principles on the formation of Eight Constitutional Diet. 2. Results and Conclusions: 1) The Sasang Constitutional Diet was systematically established by Lee Je-Ma, and is composed by the principles of 'food is on different from medicine(食藥同源)', principles of 'reinforcement of one organ(一臟補强)', principles of 'should not be mixed(混用不可)' and principles of 'food abstinence'(飮食節制)'. 2) The Eight Constitutional Diet has already been studied before 1962, and "Classification Of Constitutional Regimen and Diet", which recorded harmful and good food, has been used in clinical practices since 1962. The basis that can transform Eight Constitutional Diet into Sasang Constitutional Diet can be found in the fact that the Eight Constitution is based on the Sasang constitution. However, because clinical research on the relationship between 8 constitution and Sasang constitution is still sketchy, directly transforming the current Eight Constitutional Diet into Sasang Constitutional Diet seems unreasonable.

Stages, in the theatrical spaces, were space, which incorporates aspects of cities. Hence, the stages have been constituted to materialize sequence of city, which has exact number, proportion and order of ideal city. In addition, it has accomplished change, which depends on type of performance with the social condition and culture of generation, city has. However, the original form of theatrical space were forgotten on account of the various changes of theatrical form with modem movement since the end of 19th century, and theatrical space, which does not relate with its space of city, was started to constitute. Particularly in contemporary society, the theatre can give vitality to the citizens, and also theatrical architecture as a commercial code has been a general form, though it takes important role, which improves cultural value with technical improvement of cities development of society. Thus, this study analyzed urbanity ,which theatres have incorporated historically, and deduced a correlativity from to be based on constitution of space in visual, perceptual, spatial constitution and functional role. Focused on published SPAC international competition, it was interpreted by contemporary focus, therefore, this experiment suggests constitution of theatrical spaces of information, takes urbanity, through to analyze visual, perceptual, spatial constitution and functional role in context of contemporary city.

In oriental medicine, it is possible to classify each person into eight kinds of constitutions based on the eight constitutional medicine theory. We developed a piezoelectric 3-channel tactile sensor using PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) film for pulse detection of the radial artery. High frequency buffer (impulse buffer), amplifier, 60 Hz noise notch filter and low pass filter were integrated on three sheets of PCB board. The pulses of the radial artery at three points were checked using our system. Each constitution of the eight ones has different combinations of pulses.

In underwater, acoustic waves are used for telecommunication. The communication channels are very complicated, because of the distribution of temperature in depth, reflections from boundaries like as the surface of water and the bottom. We report the constitution of the underwater acoustic channel using the simulation of the Transmission Line Matrix Modeling and cross-correlations from the input and output signals.

To evaluate constitutional preference and clinical symptoms on the foods, we statistically analyzed the 572 patients' data based on the Sasang Constitutional Information Bank (SCIB) in Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM). As a result, these are supposed to constitution-related foods ; crucian, watermelon, barley, ginseng, honey, chicken, deer's horn, beef, cold foods. Among these, crucian, barley, cold foods are fit for Soyangin, ginseng, honey, chicken for Soeumin and deer's horn, watermelon, beef for Taeumin. Whereas pork and sliced raw fish are nothing to do with sasang constitution in this study.

Objectives The purpose of this review was to investigate constitutional medical research on tumors and to propose information for further research. Methods The literature was investigated from Oriental medicine advanced searching integrated system, China national knowledge infrastructure, and PubMed. The searching terms were cancer, tumor, neoplasm, Sasang constitution, and so on. And studies were collected and analyzed into the three parts of distributions, treatments, and preventions. Results The distribution and type of tumors were different depending on the type of Sasang constitution. The symptoms of a tumor can occur variously in all types of diseases or patterns. Preventing tumors and cultivating health should be considered all aspects of physical, mental, and social health in the Sasang constitutional concept of securing requisite energy of minor organs. Conclusions The Sasang constitutional medicine for treating tumors should be focused on strengthening the constitutional healthy energy considering personal characteristics.
