  • This paper proposes the signal design techniques of quasi-orthogonal space time block codes (QO-STBCS) on the multi-dimensional signal space. In the multiple antenna system(MIMO), QO-STBC achieves the full-diversity and full-rate by grouping two based-symbols. We study the condition for the full-diversity of the grouping QO-STBC geometrically and the performance analysis of codes on the multi-dimensional signal space regarding the various signal constellations. Simulation results show that the way of the performance analysis is validity.

  • In the past, radio astronomers have sought isolation from man-made signals by placing their telescopes in remote locations. These measures may no longer safeguard scientific observations, since NGSO satellite systems, particularly low-Earth orbit (LEO) systems, are usually designed to provide global or wide regional coverage. Further, radio astronomers have historically made their observations in the frequency bands allocated for their use by the member countries of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The science of radio astronomy could be adversely impacted by the deployment of large constellations of new non-geostationary orbiting (NGSO) satellites for telecommunications, navigation and Earth observation, and the proliferation of new, high-power broadcasting and telecommunication satellites in geostationary (GSO) orbits. Radio telescopes are extremely sensitive, and, in certain situations, signals from satellites can overwhelm the signals from astronomical sources. This paper describes the problem in detail and identifies ways to mitigate it without adversely affecting the continued vigorous growth of commercial space-based telecommunications.

  • In this paper, we proposed the frequency offset compensation algorithm and tracking algorithm which could improve the accumulated phase error for HDR-WPAN system. The proposed frequency offset compensation technique estimated each sample phase error by autocorrelation characteristics of CAZAC sequence, estimated phase error multiple each sample in a symbol, and finally compensated for the frequency offset. After frequency offset compensation using two steps, coarse and fine frequency offset, tracking algorithm have to use to compensate for the accumulated phase error. Because there is no pilot symbol in payload, more phase rotation occurred in received signal constellations due to the accumulated phase error as the payload length increase. Tracking algorithm compensates for a cumulative phase error ${\theta}$ between payload data.

  • In this paper, a new alternating equalizer and its differential adjustment algorithm are proposed. The proposed alternating equalizer achieves equalization effectively using an algorithm performing symbol decisions based on soft/hard decision. In addition, it is possible to improve the initial blind convergence speed and steady-state error performance simultaneously by adjusting the equalizer differentially according to the relative reliability of the symbol decisions by soft/hard decision devices. The simulation results on 16/64-QAM constellations under multipath propagation channel and additive noise conditions confirmed to support usefulness of the proposed method.

  • In the blind Maximum-likelihood (ML) detection for Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (OSTBC), the problem of ambiguity in determining the symbols has been a great concern. A possible solution to this problem is to apply semi-blind ML detection, i.e. the blind ML decoding with pilot symbols or training sequence. In order to increase the performance, the number of pilot symbols or length of training sequence should be increased. Unfortunately, this leads to a significantly decrease in system spectral efficiency. This work presents an approach to resolve the aforementioned issue by introducing a new method for constructing transmitted information symbols, in which transmitting information symbols drawn form different modulation constellations. Therefore, the ambiguity can be easily eliminated. In addition, computer simulation is implemented to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

  • Objectives : DongUiBoGam is one of the representative medical literatures in Korea. We used text mining methods and analyzed the characteristics of the indications of each meridian in the second chapter of DongUiBoGam, WaeHyeong, which addresses external body elements. We also visualized the relationships between the meridians and the disease sites. Methods : Using the term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) method, we quantified values regarding the indications of each meridian according to the frequency of the occurrences of 14 meridians and 14 disease sites. The spatial patterns of the indications of each meridian were visualized on a human body template according to the TF-IDF values. Using hierarchical clustering methods, twelve meridians were clustered into four groups based on the TF-IDF distributions of each meridian. Results : TF-IDF values of each meridian showed different constellation patterns at different disease sites. The spatial patterns of the indications of each meridian were similar to the route of the corresponding meridian. Conclusions : The present study identified spatial patterns between meridians and disease sites. These findings suggest that the constellations of the indications of meridians are primarily associated with the lines of the meridian system. We strongly believe that these findings will further the current understanding of indications of acupoints and meridians.

  • This paper is concerning about the demapping method using the pilots inserted in transmitter in COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) demodulator which is the standard transmission method of terrestrial digital TV system in Europe(DVB-T). We have presented a simple and efficient method of CSI(Channel State Information) generation and demapping method using CSI. The CSI was derived from the pilot carriers inserted with comb-type among the received active carriers, which is defined as a SNR. From the simulation results for the 3 different constellations of the receiver, we could confirm that the system performance comparing with conventional soft decision method has been improved under DVB-T standard Rayleigh and Ricean fading channel.

  • Various ceremonial flags were of great importance to the rulers who wished to have the absolute authorities for governing the people. Perhaps nothing indicated the ideas, thoughts and symbols of a certain period and people than the ceremonial flags. The ceremonial flags used in the old China and Korea took the shapes of the heaven and the earth, representing the social backgrounds and thoughts. This study was limited only to the discussion of the heaven-shaped patterns of the ceremonial flags. The 28 constellations of the heaven, in the Oriental way of thinking, were considered to express the immortal powers of Providence and the political domination of the earth. Hence the Polaris, the center of the heaven, symbolized the whole family of king, prince, child born of a concubine and royal harem. Among the constellation pictures were those of Han period, wall painting of old tombs in Koguryeo kingdom and old Japanese kingdom. Referring to the Emperor's ceremonial flags in Daemyeongjibyei, symbolic meanings changed historically and the complete systems of the ceremonial flags were established in Song period when the divine person was drawn on the flags. Animals concerned properly with the particular star and the shapes of the star were both drawn on the flags in Won period and only the shapes of the particular star in Myeong period. In the Imperial enthronement of Kojong the ceremonial flags might be made by the examples of those of Myeong period and remains are now found at Changdeok Palace, which need a further study because the references in detail are not available.

A Pseudo range generation simulator for GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) provides the generation function of GNSS constellations, the acquisition function of satellites position, the generation function of true range between satellites and user receiver, the generation functions for individual error features generated through the signal is travelled, and the calculation function of pseudo range. In addition, the simulator is designed to provide the output files of RINEX format.

  • Compared to the constant modulus algorithm (CMA), the modified CMA (MCMA) is easy not only to improve the steady-state performance but also to be expanded to higher-order constellations by using fewer moduli with evenly spaced. In this paper, it is shown that the MCMA is sufficient to achieve satisfactory steady-state performance by applying a variable step-size to the MCMA without switching to an hard decision-directed algorithm. Two new methods varying the step-size are proposed, and the performance improvement of the MCMA with the new methods of variable step-size is presented as compared to the CMA and the fixed step-size MCMA through computer simulations.
