The poisson's ratio was obtained from the effective vertical stress and horizontal stress of consolidation-undrained test. It was analyzed void ratio verse poisson's ratio. At the result, the effective friction angle was increase with relative density increased, was decreased the poisson's ratio. The empirical equation of void ratio and poisson's ratio was showed very high correlation r2=0.846. The empirical equation was showed that the smaller the void ratio in the fine grained soil than granular soil. In the case of 0.85 times the correlation analysis equation of granular and fine grained soil, the experimental results were shown very similarly. In especially, the poisson's ratio prediction results was shown within 5% of the error range, was revalidation 0.85 times the correlation analysis equation using the void ratio. In this study, correlation analysis equation of the granular and fine grained soil was more reliability of the poisson's ratio prediction results apply to the void ratio than dry unit weight.
In this study, consolidation test and numerical analysis were performed with the aim of investigating the characteristics of consolidation behavior of mixed soil with the amount and particle shape of inserted materials. Mixed soil was made up of matrix (dredged clay) and inserted material (crashed oyster shell and/or sand). The concept of stress share ratio was introduced to evaluate the consolidation characteristics of mixed soils. And the finite differential numerical analysis was carried out by applying the Mikasa's consolidation theory. From the results of experiments and numerical analysis, it was verified that mixed soil consolidation behavior is affected by changes in inserted material. When a similar amount of granular material was inserted, the compressibility of the clay matrix of oyster shell mixed soil was smaller than that of sand mixed soil.

In this present study, the long-term consolidation tests were performed using the remolded Kwang-Yang port clayey soil to clarify the effect of stress history and over-consolidation ratio (OCR) on the long-term consolidation characteristics of the soft clayey soil. For the over-consolidated state clayey soils, in case OCR exceeds 1.5, there are no great differences of secondary consolidation settlement and final settlement even if OCR increases from 2.0 to 3.0. Therefore, it has been understood that the value of OCR applied on the field site to reduce the secondary consolidation settlement and the final settlement is about 1.5. In addition, in order to investigate the relationship between the pre-loading period and the characteristics of long-term consolidation behavior obtained from the test results using the remolded Kwang-Yang port clayey soils, the influence on long-term consolidation behavior was not large though the pre-load was unloaded with the consolidation degree 70~80% exceeded.
Most laboratory test research has focused on grouting efficiency in homogeneous reconstituted soft clay. However, the natural sedimentary soils generally behave differently from reconstituted soils due to the effect of soil structure. A series of laboratory grouting tests were conducted to research the effect of soil structure on the performance of compensation grouting. The effects of grouting volume, overlying load and grouting location on the performance of compensation grouting under different soil structures were also studied. Reconstituted soil was altered with added cement to simulate artificial structured soil. The results showed that the final grouting efficiency was positive and significantly increased with the increase of stress ratio within a certain range when grouting in normally consolidated structured clay. However, in the same low yield stress situation, the artificial structured soil had a lower final grouting efficiency than the overconsolidated reconstituted soil. The larger of normalized grouting volume could increase the final grouting efficiency for both reconstituted and artificial structured soils. Whereas, the effect of the overlying load on final grouting efficiencies was unfavourable, and was independent of the stress ratio. As for the layered soil specimens, grouting in the artificial structured soil layer was the most efficient. In addition, the peak grouting pressure was affected by the stress ratio and the overlying load, and it could be predicted with an empirical equation when the overlying load was less than the yield stress. The end time of primary consolidation and the proportion of secondary consolidation settlement varied with the different soil structures, grouting volumes, overlying loads and grouting locations.
This research, in order to study the effects of initial shear stress of anisotropically consolidated sand that has 0.558% fines, performed several undrained static and dynamic triaxial test. To simulate the real field conditions, loose and dense samples were prepared. Besides, the cyclic shear strength of Nakdong River sand under various combinations of initial static shear stress, stress path, pore water pressure and residual strength relationship was studied. By using Bolton's theory, peak internal friction angle at failure which has considerable effects on the relative density and mean effective stress was determined. In p'- q diagram, the phase transformation line moves closer to the failure line as the specimen's initial anistropical consolidation stress increases. Loose sands were more affected than dense sands. The increase of consolidation stress ratio from 1.4 to 1.8 had an effect on liquefaction resistance strength resulting from the increase of relativity density, and showed similar CSR values in dense specimen condition.
Applicability of hyperbolic settlement prediction method to consolidation settlement in the dredged and reclaimed ground was assessed by analyzing results of centrifuge tests modelling self-weight consolidation of soft marine clay. From literature review about self-weight consolidation of soft marine clays located in southern coast in Korea, constitutive relationships of void ratio - effective stress - permeability and typical self-weight consolidation curves with time were obtained by analyzing centrifuge model experiments. For the condition of surcharge loading, exact solution of consolidation settlement curve obtained by using Terzaghi's consolidation theory was compared with results predicted by the hyperbolic method. It was found to have its own inherent error to predict final consolidation settlement. From results of analyzing thc self-weight consolidation with time by using this method, it predicted relatively well in error range of 0.04~18% for the case of showing the linearity in the relationship between T vs T/S in the stage of consolidation degree of 60~90 %. However, it overestimated the final settlement with large errors if those relation curves were nonlinear.

Vertical drains have been commonly used to increase the rate of the consolidation of dredged material. The installation of vertical drains additionally provides a radial flow path in the dredged foundation. The objective of this study develops a numerical model for 2-D axisymmetric non-linear finite strain consolidation considering self-weight consolidation to predict the effect of vertical drain in dredged foundation which is in process of self-weight consolidation. The non-linear relationship between the void ratio and effective stress and permeability during consolidation are taken into account in the numerical model. The results of the numerical analysis are compared with that of the self-weight consolidation test in which an artificial vertical drain is installed. In addition, the numerical model developed in this paper is the simplified analytical method proposed by Ahn et, al (2010). The comparisons show that the developed numerical model can properly simulate the consolidation of the dredged material with the vertical drains installed.

In order to integrate two consolidation theories of Terzaghi's consolidation theory and Mesri's secondary compression theory and to identify a model suitable for analyzing stress-strain behavior over time, numerical analysis on consolidation tests were conducted using a modified cam-clay model and a soft soil creep model and the following conclusions were obtained. The results of numerical analysis applying the theory that a linear proportional relationship is established between the void ratio at logarithmic scale and the permeability coefficient at logarithmic scale is better agreement with the result of oedometer test than the results of applying constant hydraulic conductivity. The modified cam-clay model is a model that does not include secondary compression, but the slope of the normal consolidation line corresponding to the compression index of the standard consolidation test includes secondary compression, so the actual settlement curve over time is lower than the predicted value through numerical analysis. It always gets smaller. Other previous studies that applied Terzaghi's consolidation theory to consolidation test analysis showed the same results and were cross-confirmed. The soft soil creep model, which includes secondary compression in the theory, showed good agreement in all sections including secondary compression in the consolidation test results. It was judged appropriate to use a soft soil creep model when performing numerical analysis of soft clay ground.
A series of conventional tests and CRS consolidation tests with different rates of strain were performed to investigate the consolidation characteristics of marine clay. Preconsolidation pressures were evaluated by applying previously proposed methods for both the conventional tests and CRS tests results in order to check the legitimacy of those methods. The effects of strain rate on effective consolidation stress strain relationship, porewater pressure, and preconsolidation pressure were also discussed It was found that the effective stress strain relationship and the preconsolidation pressure are a function of strain rate imposed during consolidation test, but compression index isn't. The preconsolidation pressure ratio ($a_2=\sigma'_{pCRS}/\sigma'_{pConv}$)of marine clay appears proportional to the logarithm of strain rate, with average values ranging from 1.11 to 1.30 for strain rates between $1\timesx10^{-4} %/sec\; and\; 4\times10 %/sec$. The porewater pressure ratio during CRS teats does not exceed 6.0% except when the strain rate is $6.67\times10^{-4} %/sec$. Coefficient of consolidation or coefficient of permeability at normally consolidated range was not affected by the type of consolidation tests and the strain rate. Typical values of compression index (C.), coefficient of consolidation(c.), and coefficient of permeability (k.) at normally consolidated range were 0.56-0.95, $0.56\times10^{-4}~3.0\times10^{-4}cm2/sec,\; and\; 2.0\times10^{-8}~7.0\time10^{-4}cm/sec,$ respectively.

This paper presents two analysis methods for characterizing the non-linear finite strain consolidation behavior of highly deformable dredged soil deposits along with the fundamental parameters obtained in the companion paper; that is, the zero effective stress void ratio, the non-linear relationships of void ratio-effective stress and void ratio-hydraulic conductivity. The simplified Morris's analytical solution (2002) and the widely recognized numerical program, PSDDF (primary Consolidation, Secondary Compression, and Desiccation of Dredged Fill) for both single and double drainage conditions are adopted in this paper to verify a series of laboratory experiments for self-weight consolidation of the Incheon clay and Kaolinite. The comparisons show that the analysis methods proposed herein can properly simulate the long-term non-linear finite strain consolidation behavior for dredged soils in the field. In addition, a case study for the artificial Craney Island has been conducted to illustrate the importance of obtaining appropriate non-linear finite strain consolidation parameters and the applicability of PSDDF in promoting dredged soil disposal.
