A formulation based on structural reliability and cost effectiveness is proposed to provide recommendations to select the best retrofit strategy for schools with reinforced concrete frames and masonry walls, among three proposed alternatives. The cost calculation includes the retrofit cost and the expected costs of failure consequences. Also, the uncertainty of the seismic hazard is considered for each school site. The formulation identifies the potential failure modes, among shear and bending forces for beams, and flexure-compression forces for columns, for each school, and the seismic damages suffered by the schools after the earthquake of September 17, 2017 are taken into account to calibrate the damaged conditions per school. The school safety level is measured through its global failure probability, instead of only the local failure probability. The proposed retrofit alternatives are appraised in terms of the cost/benefit balance under future earthquakes, for the respective site seismic hazard, as opposed to the current practice of just restoring the structure original resistance. The best retrofit is the one that corresponds to the minimum value of the expected life cycle cost. The study, with further developments, may be used to develop general recommendations to retrofit schools located at seismic zones.

During the past two decades, the Southeast Asian region has experienced a range of major crises. Service industries such as tourism and the marginal and migrant laborers who work in them have usually been at the sharp end of these testing events, from natural and environmental disasters, epidemics and pandemics, global financial slumps, terrorism, and political conflict. The latest challenge is the "Novel Coronavirus" (Covid-19/SARS-CoV-2) pandemic. It has already had serious consequences for Southeast Asia and its tourism development and these will continue for the foreseeable future. Since the SARS epidemic of 2002-2004, Southeast Asian economies have become integrated increasingly into those of East Asia (China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong). This paper examines one of the most significant current crises, Covid-19, and its consequences for Southeast Asia, its tourism industry, and its workers, comparing experiences across the region, and the issues raised by the over-dependence of some countries on East Asia. In research on crises, the main focus has been on dramatic, unpredictable natural disasters, and human-generated global economic downturns. Not so much attention has been devoted to disease and contagion, which has both natural and socio-cultural dimensions in origins and effects, and which, in the case of Covid-19, evoke a pre-crisis period of normality, a liminal transition or "meantime" and a post-crisis "new normality." The transition is not straightforward; in many countries, it operates as a set of serial lockdowns and restrictions, and to predict an uncertain future remains difficult.

Purpose - This study reviewed domestic empirical studies on abusive supervision published from 2009 to 2020 and summarized the accumulated results. In particular, this study classified previous studies on abusive supervision as antecedents (supervisor characteristics, subordinate characteristics, and contextual factors) and outcome variables (cognition/awareness, affection/emotion, attitude, behavior, and others). Based on the results, this study suggested potential issues of previous studies and future directions for abusive supervision. In addition, this study proposed the academic and practical implications and limitations. Design/methodology/approach - The domestic studies on abusive supervision can be divided into antecedents and outcome variables, and each study was organized into the characteristics of the supervisor, subordinate, and situational characteristics, and the resultant variables were divided into cognition/awareness, affection/emotion, attitude, behavior, and others. Finding - Prior studies on abusive supervision had several limitations in obtaining clear results with individual characteristics or fragmented approaches at the organizational level. In the future, more comprehensive approaches will be needed. Research implications or Originality - This study will provide academic and practical implications for future research on abusive supervision by deepening an understanding of the negative consequences of abusive supervision.

Purpose: The wide distribution of smartphones has changed life and user behavior. This phenomenon has both advantages and disadvantages for users. As smartphones become a part of our daily lives, smartphone addiction has recently become a social issue in many countries. This study explores factors that affect smartphone addiction and the consequences of addictive behaviors. Research design, data and methodology: Our model hypothesizes that four key factors determine addictive behavior: flow, enjoyment, preference for online social life, and escape reality. Commitment and compulsive use are mediating variables that connect key drivers and addictive results. Based on the SEM (structural equation model) analysis of 497 survey responses, these four driving factors each have a significant effect on the compulsive use of smartphones directly or indirectly; the compulsive use of smartphones directly influences the three results Results: We conducted a reliability and validity analysis, and the results were successful. In the hypothesis test, every path is accepted as expected at the significance level of 0.05. Conclusions: Among the four driving factors, escape reality is the vital factor influencing smartphone addiction and its consequences. And anxiety is the number one consequence influenced by the compulsive use of smartphones.

Background: This study investigated the association between fair and supportive leadership and symptoms of burnout and insomnia in police employees. Burnout and insomnia can have negative consequences for health, performance, and safety among employees in the police profession, and risk and protective factors should be thoroughly investigated. Methods: Data were collected in a police district in Norway through questionnaires administered in October 2018 and May 2019. The sample consisted of 206 police employees (52% males), with an average age of 42 years and 16 years of experience in the police occupation. Results: The results showed that a high degree of fair and supportive leadership was associated with lower levels of burnout and insomnia six months later. Fair and supportive leadership explained a greater amount of variance in burnout compared to insomnia. This finding indicates that fair and supportive leadership is a more important buffer factor against burnout than it is against insomnia. Stress was positively associated with burnout and insomnia, whereas quantitative job demands had no significant association with the concepts. Conclusion: Fair and supportive leadership can help protect employees from adverse consequences of stress and contribute to improved occupational health, whereas a low degree of support and fair treatment from leaders can both represent a stressor by itself and contribute to poorer coping of stressful events at work. The important role of leadership should be incorporated in measures aimed at preventing and reducing burnout and sleep problems.

본 연구는 비대면 수업 환경에서 학생들이 성적평가에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 있는지 구체적으로 이해를 돕고자 Google Classroom에 참여한 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 비대면 수업 성적평가에 대한 지각된 공정성의 선행요인과 결과요인을 탐색하였다. 우리는 콘텐츠 상호작용성 수준에 따라 학생들이 성적평가의 공정성을 인식하는 수준이 달라질 수 있음을 발견하였고 사회적 실재감이 학생들의 지각된 성적평가 공정성을 예측하는 변인임을 검증하였다. 또한, 지각된 성적평가 공정성은 수업에 대한 만족도와 학업 성취도에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것을 발견하였다. 5-8 바랍니다.

Prior research on Extended Reality (XR) has been a starting point for the development of the Metaverse. It is also a concern for researchers in the tourism field since it can enhance the tourist experience. Metaverse Tourism provides a virtual experience of the tourism destination for the users. It is potentially developed and predicted to be the future of tourism, enhancing the tourist experience through communication between humans and avatars and providing a new option for tourists to enjoy leisure activities. Recently, discussion on Metaverse tourism is still emerging, with some open talks from researchers in the intersections between information technology and tourism. This study extends prior studies by proposing six Metaverse tourism elements and categorizing them into core and supporting elements. Then, we analyze the consequences of those elements on the Tourism Experience Journey to enhance each stage with different characteristics. This study can contribute to continuing recent dialogues among scholars on how Metaverse can be applied in the tourism sector by proposing six elements that should be considered in developing and creating Metaverse services.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how menu quality, human ${\cdot}$ amenity service quality, perceived risk affected quality ${\cdot}$ price menu value, social ${\cdot}$ emotion menu value and how quality ${\cdot}$ price menu value and social ${\cdot}$ emotion menu value influenced satisfaction. Also this study investigated how satisfaction affected loyalty. The model was tested in hotel restaurants settings of five-star hotels using a sample of customers visiting and enjoying menus in Daegu metropolitan city and Gyeongju city. Empirical results confirmed that not only do menu quality and human ${\cdot}$ amenity service quality increase quality ${\cdot}$ price menu value and social ${\cdot}$ emotion menu value but that perceived risk reduces social ${\cdot}$ emotion menu value. It was also found that significant antecedents of satisfaction were quality ${\cdot}$ price menu value and social ${\cdot}$ emotion menu value. Also, loyalty was also found to be a significant consequences of satisfaction.

People enthusiastic about human brands eagerly engage in fan communities to share their common interests with others. Although sharing one's enthusiasm towards the same celebrities can give thempositive senses of we-ness (in-group identity, togetherness, camaraderie) and belongingness, negative sides also exist such as schadenfreude and trash talk. Even though the studies addressing the negative sides of fan community are gaining significance, no prior studies formally examined the negative consequences of engaging in a fan community and their effect on one's well-being. Therefore, this current study aims to investigate how engaging in fan community negatively affects members' psychological well-being through schadenfreude and trash talk. Structural equation modeling analysis revealed that engaging highly in a fan community leads members to feel malicious pleasure at rivals' misfortunes and share negative opinions of rival human brands and fan communities. These negative consequences of fan community engagement ultimately lead to a lower level of psychological wellbeing, especially in the area of personal growth whereas fan community engagement has a direct positive effect on personal growth. By showing the negative influences of engaging in fan communities on members' well-being through schadenfreude and trash talk, the results of this study are expected to add depth to the existing literature.

본 연구는 1980년대 이후 관심을 끌고 있는 리더십연구를 프랜차이즈시스템의 본부와 가맹점관계에 적용하였다. 연구의 목적은 여러 선행연구 및 자료에서 나타난 핵심이슈들 즉, 윤리성, 정보기술, 그리고 조직문화를 리더십의 선행요인으로 보고 이들과 리더십스타일 및 성과 간 관계를 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 프랜차이즈의 3개 업종, 즉 외식업, 서비스업, 도소매업의 가맹점 220업소의 점주를 대상으로 자료를 수집 분석한 결과 거래적 조직문화가 리더십을 강화시키고, 기술역량은 변혁적 리더십만을, 윤리성은 경로리더십유형에 관계없이 모두 영향을 미쳤다. 리더십의 성과에는 변혁적 리더십은 재무적 성과를 강화시키나 거래적 리더십은 관계시민행동을 강화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 프랜차이즈본부가 거래관계를 중시한 과업지향적 문화를 조성하여 리더십을 강화하고 윤리성의 확립과 기술역량을 축적해야 하며 변혁적 리더십과 거래적 리더십을 선택적으로 발휘하여 재무적 성과와 관계시민행동을 촉진해야함을 나타내 보였다. 본 연구는 "리더십조건은 만들어 질수 있다"는 메시지의 전달과 정부의 유통정책에 경로리더의 양성과 활용기반을 마련하며 윤리교육과 윤리가이드라인이 필요함에 대한 단서를 제공하였다.
