KOH Activated Nitrogen Doped Hard Carbon Nanotubes as High Performance Anode for Lithium Ion Batteries

  • In situ nitrogen doped hard carbon nanotubes (NHCNT) were fabricated by pyrolyzing tubular nitrogen doped conjugated microporous polymer. KOH activated NHCNT (K-NHCNT) were also prepared to improve their porous structure. XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, XPS, Raman spectra, $N_2$ adsorption-desorption, galvanostatic charging-discharge, cyclic voltammetry and EIS were used to characterize the structure and performance of NHCNT and K-NHCNT. XRD and Raman spectra reveal K-NHCNT own a more disorder carbon. SEM indicate that the diameters of K-NHCNT are smaller than that of NHCNT. TEM and EDS further indicate that K-NHCNT are hollow carbon nanotubes with nitrogen uniformly distributed. $N_2$ adsorption-desorption analysis reveals that K-NHCNT have an ultra high specific surface area of $1787.37m^2g^{-1}$, which is much larger than that of NHCNT ($531.98m^2g^{-1}$). K-NHCNT delivers a high reversible capacity of $918mAh\;g^{-1}$ at $0.6A\;g^{-1}$. Even after 350 times cycling, the capacity of K-NHCNT cycled after 350 cycles at $0.6A\;g^{-1}$ is still as high as $591.6mAh\;g^{-1}$. Such outstanding electrochemical performance of the K-NHCNT are clearly attributed by its superior characters, which have great advantages over those commercial available carbon nanotubes ($200-450mAh\;g^{-1}$) not only for its desired electrochemical performance but also for its easily and scaling-up preparation.

  • Diol과 diacid 단량체들의 다양한 조합으로 2단계 축합중합으로 가교구조를 가지는 세 종류의 신규 폴리에스테르를 새롭게 합성하였다. 이들 고분자 필름은 $240^{\circ}C$에서 수 시간 고온 열처리하면, 주사슬에 의한 금지 전이에도 불구하고, 가시영역에서 흡수를 나타내었으며 330 nm 이상의 파장에서 여기시키면 청색에서 근적외선에 이르는 넓은 범위에서 발광을 나타내었다. 신규 폴리에스테르의 발광 현상은 주사슬에 포함된 말로네이트기가 고온 열처리를 통해 자기축합 형태의 Knoevenagel 반응을 일으켜 분자 내 공역구조를 형성하기 때문이다. 또한 이들 고분자의 열적 특성은 가지화도 차이에 의한 화학적 가교정도에 따라 현저한 차이를 보였을 뿐 아니라 광분해 현상도 관찰되었다. 필름 상태에서 강한 자외선을 조사하여 말로네이트기의 분해반응을 유도하고, 이를 이용한 형광 이미지 패터닝을 수행한 결과, 고해상도의 이미지 패턴을 얻을 수 있었다.

Synthesis and Characterization of Organic Light-Emitting Copolymers Containing Naphthalene

  • Conjugated PPV-derived block copolymers containing 2-ethylhexyloxynaphthalene unit were synthesized and characterized in this study. The resulting polymers were soluble in common organic solvents and showed good thermal stabilities, The weight-average molecular weights ($M_w$) of the copolymers ranged from 246,000 to 475,000 with PDIs of $1.3{\sim}2.1$. The optical properties of these polymers, measured both in a chloroform solution and on a film, showed a maximum absorption at $405{\sim}476\;nm$ for Copolymers $I{\sim}VIII$. In the PL spectra, Copolymers $I{\sim}VIII$ showed maximum peaks at $510{\sim}566\;nm$. The HOMOs, LUMOs and band gaps of the PPV derivatives of Copolymers $I{\sim}VIII$ were $5.30{\sim}5.77$, $3.04{\sim}3.24$, and $2.5{\sim}2.2\;eV$, respectively, The multi-layered, light-emitting diodes of ITO/PEDOT/copolymers/LiF/Al exhibited turn-on voltages of $6{\sim}2.5\;V$ Copolymer VIII exhibited the maximum brightness of $3.657\;cd/m^2$. Particularly, Copolymer VII, with an identical composition of MEH-PPV and naphthalene-PPV, showed a maximum luminance efficiency and power efficiency of 2,63 cd/A and 1.06 lm/W, respectively.

Push-pull 구조의 공액 고분자 합성 및 Phenothiazine의 질소 원자에 치환된 Side-chain에 따른 유기박막태양전지로의 특성 연구 (Synthesis and Photovoltaic Properties of Conjugated Polymers Having Push-pull Structure according to the Type of Side-chain in the N-Substituted Phenothiazine)

  • 본 연구에서는 새로운 종류의 공액 고분자 3-(5-(5,6-bis(octyloxy)-7-(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)thiophen-2-yl)-10-(4-(octyloxy)phenyl)-10H-phenothiazine (P1)과 3-(5-(5,6-bis(octyloxy)-7-(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)thiophen-2-yl)-10-(4-((2-ethylhexyl)oxy)phenyl)-10H-phenothiazine (P2)를 스즈키 커플링 반응으로 합성하여 유기박막 태양전지로의 특성을 확인하였다. Push-pull 구조 고분자의 전자주개 물질로 phenothiazine 유도체를, 전자받개 물질로 benzothiadiazole 유도체를 사용하였다. 전자를 풍부하게 하고, 용해성을 향상시키기 위하여 phenothiazine의 질소 원자에 알콕시 사슬이 도입된 방향족 고리를 치환하여 2종의 고분자(P1, P2)를 합성하였다. P1, P2의 분자량은 각각 4,911, 5,294이었고, $T_d$는 각각 321.9, $323.7^{\circ}C$로 이로부터 열 안정성이 우수함을 확인하였으며, 최대흡수파장은 549, 566 nm이었다. 소자를 제작하여 유기박막태양전지의 특성을 측정한 결과, P1과 P2의 효율은 각각 0.96, 0.90%이었다.

Cyclopolymerization of 1,6-Heptadiyne by Molybdenum and Tungsten-Based Catalysts

  • The polymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne was carried out by molybdenum and tungsten-based transition metal catalysts. This polymerization by MoCl$\_$5/ alone proceeded well to give a quantitative yield of polymer. The effect of monomer to catalyst mole ratio (M/C), initial monomer concentration ([M]$\_$0/), and the polymerization temperature for the cyclopolymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne was studied and discussed. The polymerization solution exhibited red color even after 30 min of polymerization time. The resulting polymers were mostly brown powders and mostly insoluble in any organic solvents although the polymerization proceeded in homogeneous manner in some cases. The polymer structure was characterized by various instrumental methods to have the conjugated polymer backbone structure carrying cyclic recurring unit. The thermal and morphological properties of the resulting poly(1,6-heptadiyne) were also discussed.

라면 제조를 위한 혼합 유채유의 산화 안정성 (Oxidative Stability of Blended Rapeseed Oil for Instant Ramyon Manufacturing)

  • A preliminary investigation was performed to evaluate the possibility of partially replacing palm oil and beef tallow by rapeseed oil for frying oils of instant Ramyon manufacturing. The AOM stability of rapeseed oil was inferior than of palm oil, but was comparable to that of beef tallow. When rapeseed oil was blended with palm oil or beef tallow, the AOM stability of the blended oil was improved. As far as AOM stability is concerned, best results were obtained with a blending ratio of 3 part of rapeseed oil to 7 part of palm oil and a ratio of 4 part of rapeseed oil to 6 part of beef tallow. These blended rapesee oils was retarded the formation of conjugated dienes and polymers during heating. The antioxidative effects on the stabilities of AOM and thermal in blended rapeseed oils showed that TBHQ was superior to tocopherols and a mixture of BHA and BHT was inferior.

Preparation and Characterization of White Phosphorescence Polymer Light Emitting Diodes Using PFO:Ir(ppy)3:MDMO-PPV Emission Layer

  • White phosphorescence polymer light emitting diodes (WPhPLEDs) with a glass/ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PFO:$Ir(ppy)_3$:MDMO-PPV/TPBI/LiF/Al structure were fabricated to investigate the effects of $Ir(ppy)_3$ doping concentrations on the optical and electrical properties of the devices. PFO, $Ir(ppy)_3$ and MDMO-PPV conjugated polymers as host and guest materials in the emission layer were spin coated at various concentrations of $Ir(ppy)_3$ ranging from 0.0 to 20.0 vol.%. As the concentration of $Ir(ppy)_3$ increased from 5.0 to 20.0 vol.%, the luminance and current efficiency values of the devices decreased clearly, which are attributable to the quenching effect at a high doping concentration. The maximum luminance and current density were 2850 $cd/m^2$ and 741 $mA/cm^2$, respectively for a WPhPLED with an $Ir(ppy)_3$ concentration of 5.0 vol.%. The CIE color coordinates were about x=0.33 and y=0.34 at 11V, showing a good white color.

Interfacial Layers for High Efficiency Polymer Solar Cells

  • Polymer solar cells utilize bulk heterojunction (BHJ) type photo-active layer in which the electron donating polymer and electron accepting C60 derivatives are mixed together. In the BHJ system the electron donating polymer and electron accepting C60 derivatives are blended. The blended system causes charge recombination at the interface between the BHJ active layer and electrode. To reduce the charge recombination at the interface, it is needed to use an interlayer that can selectively transfer electrons or holes. We have developed solution processable wide band gap inorganic interfacial layers for polymer solar cells. The effect of interlayers on the performance of polymer solar cell was investigated for various types of conjugated polymers. We have found that inorganic interfacial layers enhanced the solar cell efficiency through the reduction of charge recombination at the interface between active layer and electrode. Furthermore, the stability of the polymer solar cell using the interlayer was significantly improved. The efficiency of 6.5% was obtained from the PTB7:PCBM70 based solar cells utilizing $TiO_2$nanoparticles as an interlayers.

Electrical Characteristics of Pentacene Thin Film Transistors.

  • There are currently considerable interest in the applications of conjugated polymers, oligomers, and small molecules for thin-film electronic devices. Organic materials have potential advantages to be utilized as semiconductors in field-effect transistors and light-emitting diodes. In this study, pentacene thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated on glass substrate. Aluminums were used for gate electrodes. Silicon dioxide was deposited as a gate insulator by PECVD and patterned by reactive ion etching (R.I.E). Gold was used for the electrodes of source and drain. The active semiconductor pentacene layer was thermally evaporated in vacuum at a pressure of about $10^{-8}$ Torr and a deposition rate $0.3{\AA}/s$. The fabricated devices exhibited the field-effect mobility as large as 0.07 $cm^2/V.s$ and on/off current ratio as larger than $10^7$.

계면처리에 의한 pentacene 박막의 전기적 특성 연구 (A Study on the Electrical Characteristics of Pentacene Thin Film by Using Surface Treatment)

  • There are currently considerable interests in the applications of conjugated polymers, oligomers. and small molecules for thin-film electronic devices. Organic materials have potential advantages to be utilized as semiconductors in field-effect transistors and light-emitting diodes. In this study we fabricated the devices based on pentacene as active layer. Octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) is used as buffer layer between $SiO_2$ and pentacene. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electrical conductivity were used with OTS on $SiO_2$ 10nm which the pentacene layer was thermally evaporated in vacuum at a pressure of about $2.0\times10^{-6}$ Torr. In the result of AFM, the grain length is grown by using OTS for surface treatment. Electrical conductivity is changed from $3.19{\times}10^{-6}$ S/cm to $2.12{\times}10^{-7}$ S/cm. We observed that electrical conductivity is also increased by surface treatment. According to these results, the surface treated devices exhibited the increase to compared no treatment.
