The Wald confidence interval has been considered as a standard method for the difference of proportions. However, the erratic behavior of the coverage probability of the Wald confidence interval is recognized in various literatures. Various alternatives have been proposed. Among them, Agresti-Caffo confidence interval has gained the reputation because of its simplicity and fairly good performance in terms of coverage probability. It is known however, that the Agresti-Caffo confidence interval is conservative. In this note, a confidence interval is developed using the weighted Polya posterior which was employed to obtain a confidence interval for the binomial proportion in Lee(2005). The resulting confidence interval is simple and effective in various respects such as the closeness of the average coverage probability to the nominal confidence level, the average expected length and the mean absolute error of the coverage probability. Practically it can be used for the interval estimation of the difference of proportions for any sample sizes and parameter values.

The set of eigenvectors of the second moment matrix and the mean vector are the measures of orientation for a distribution supported on the unit sphere. Bootstrap confidence cone for the eigenvector is constructed and the consistency of this method is discussed. The performance of our bootstrap cone for the eigenvector is compared with that of the asymptotic confidence cones for two measures under the parametric assumptions for the underlying distributions and that of the bootstrap cone for the mean vector by Monte Carlo simulation.
This study is a descriptive research that aimed to investigate the relationship among the knowledge, attitude, self-confidence, and ability to perform basic life support of nursing students, and to identify the factors affecting their performance ability of basic life support. The subjects in this study were 85 senior nursing students. And a questionnaire survey and an observation assessment for their ability to perform basic life support were conducted. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Multiple Linear Regression with SPSS WIN 23.0 program. Performance ability on Basic life support was found to be in a significant positive correlation with knowledge, self-confidence. Factors affecting the ability to perform basic life support were knowledge, number of training sessions received, and last training time. Therefore, programs for repetitive basic life support training at 3-month intervals should be developed to maintain the performance ability of basic life support.
The clinical practice program for home care nurses was implemented in June 1994, to help to set up a hospital-based home care system in the Kwangju City area as a collaborative work between the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Chunnam University Hospital and Chunnam University School of Nursing. Under the developed clinical practice strategy, the eight week training was given to five licensed home care nurses who had completed Part I and II of the home health care nursing practicum from June 1994. The purpose of this descriptive evaluation study was to identify the effectiveness of the clinical practice program for home care nurses specialized in the area of patient care for people with musculoskeletal function impairment. As a method in data analysis, data triangulation was used in the five home care nurse case evaluations. The variety of data analyzed include confidence score by home care nurse self-evaluation, patient and family member satisfaction scores, and competency score by preceptor evaluation. The study findings revealed that an increase rate in nursing performance didrate necessarily coincide with an increase not in competency score and also, not with the patient /family member satisfaction scores. And an order derived from the clinical performance scores of five home care nurses corresponded to those from three measurements-competency score, patient satisfaction score, and family member satisfaction score. However, it differed from the order associated with the confidence score. Consistency derived from the three objective evaluation methods may lead to the possibility that the level of competency measured by educator can be further explained by the levels of patient/family member satisfaction. The salient finding of this study was that, in case of nurse A who have had little clinical experience in the orthopedic patient care, there was a significant increase in the level of confidence and competency in subscale of professional skill with the home care clinical practice. Therefore, the effect of the clinical practice program would be successful for nurses who have had little experience in the area of specialization. The study results suggest that there might be some time difference in the development of cognitive sense (confidence) in performance and actual clinical performance (competency). In future research, relationships between the confidence and competency score, and between the confidence score and the patient satisfaction score should to be measured in different time frame to achieve a better explanation power of the study outcome.
Purpose : This study compared before and after emergency patient evaluation education of the 1st graders at the department emergency medical technology(EMT) students, and analyzed its effects on patient evaluation ability after education. The aims of this study was to develop effective educational program and to provide basic materials for its educational method. Methods : This study was carried out by 66 first graders attending the department of emergency medical technology(EMT) at a college in G province and data were collected from Apr. 1 to 2, 2009. The questionnaire consisted of knowledge of emergent patient evaluation, academic self-efficacy, and technical performance after emergent patient evaluation education. We analyzed the influence of knowledge and academic self-efficacy on accurate technical performance with SPSS 14.0 version. Results : 1. In knowledge score, it was 9.27 before education and increased to 35.19 after education and that there was statistically significant difference. In academic self-efficacy, task difficulty preference scored 2.73 before education and 3.97 after education, self-control efficacy scored 2.84 before education and 4.05 after education, self-confidence scored 2.45 before education and 4.21 after education. There were statistically significant increases after education. Technical performance scored 0.00 before education, but it scored 18.78 after education and there was statistically significant increase after education. 2. In sex as one of general characteristics, self-confidence which was sub-factor of academic self-efficacy scored higher in male students(4.28) than in female students(4.10). There was statistically significant difference(p < 0.05). 3. Knowledge had positive correlation with self-control efficacy which was the sub-factor of academic self-efficacy(r = 0.249, p < 0.05) and self-confidence which is the sub-factor of academic self-efficacy had the positive correlation with technical performance(r = 0.258, p < 0.05). 4. Self-confidence which was the sub-factor of academic self-efficacy(B = 0.372, p < 0.05) had statistically significant influence on technical performance. ability of self-confidence to explain technical performance(R2) was 11.10%. Conclusion : From the results of this study, it is necessary that EMT students should learn professional first aid, accurate patient evaluation through self-efficacy development.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify predicting factors of the performance of breast self-examination (BSE) among Korean middle-aged women based upon the Health Belief Model. Method: A descriptive design was used for this study. A total of 309 convenience samples were recruited from Yonsu-Gu, Inchon. The Champion's Health Belief Model Scale was used to measure the health belief related variables of susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, confidence, and health motivation. The performance of BSE asked of it was as ever or never performed during the last year. The obtained data were analysed using descriptive statistics, $\chi^2$-test, t-test, and logistic regression. Result: Results showed that 32% had ever BSE last year. Age and BSE education among demographic characteristics were significantly associated with the performance of BSE. Thus, these demographic variables were added to the logistic regression analyses with the health belief variables. As a result, age, BSE education, health motivation, and confidence significantly explained the performance of BSE. Conclusion: This study suggests that it is important that the development of BSE educational programs increase confidence and motivation, particularly for middle aged-Korean women.

This study was conducted to identify factors influencing clinical performance among nursing students who experienced clinical practice due to COVID-19 and provide basic data to improve clinical performance. This study collected data from October 10 to October 27, 2023, targeting 144 students at two nursing schools in G Province. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, difference analysis (t-est, on-way ANOVA), correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, in Model 1, extrovert and mixed personality types were found to be significant predictive factors explaining clinical performance. The goodness of fit of Model 1 was statistically significant, and the explanatory power was 9.2% (F=8.256, p<.001). In Model 2, interpersonal skills and confidence in nursing skills appeared as significant predictive factors explaining clinical performance ability. Confidence in nursing skills was the best predictor of clinical performance, followed by interpersonal skills. The explanatory power of the model was 50.1%, an increase of 41.3% compared to Model 1. Model fit was also statistically significant. Simulation education that reproduces various situations should be strengthened to increase opportunities to perform direct nursing and improve nursing students' nursing capabilities. If you improve your confidence in nursing skills and interpersonal skills through simulation education, your clinical performance will ultimately improve, and this will be able to be demonstrated as a nursing competency when employed as a nurse.
Purpose: This study was to conducted to search for factors influencing the confidence of core fundamental nursing skill performance (CC) based on comparative analysis, of the relationship between problem solving ability (PS), self-directed learning ability (SL) and CC of nursing students. Methods: This study was conducted based on questionnaires (208) given to senior nursing students. Data were analyzed by the t-test, ANNOVA and Scheffe's test. Moreover, Pearson's correlation coefficient and hierarchical regression were conducted to determine the relationship between items. Results: Proving Solving ability differed significantly in SC. In addition, satisfaction with core fundamental nursing skills (SL) differed significantly by gender, academic performance of last semester, support for nursing, and SC. Moreover, PS was found to have a normal relationship with SL and CC, and SL was found to have a normal relationship with CC. Conclusion: Education strategy should include methods of increasing the PS of student to improve CC in nursing education. Moreover, SL education should be used to increase nursing tasks and effective adaptation to their circumstances as a clinical nurse after graduation.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of preclinical clinical performance examination (CPX) on nursing students' confidence in their nursing skills and critical thinking competence. Methods: The design of this research was one-group pretest-posttest, and the participants were 112 nursing students. The preclinical CPX consisted of a clinical examination, patient-nurse relationship, oral test of related knowledge, written test of the nursing process, and debriefing using comprehensive scenarios based on real patient cases. The confidence of nursing skills consisted of an 8-item NRS and the critical thinking competence consisted of a 12-item 4-point scale developed by researchers and measured in both the pretest and posttest. The collected data were analyzed using paired t-tests, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: The score for confidence in nursing skills (t=10.60, p<.001) and that for critical thinking competence (t=7.03, p<.001) increased significantly after preclinical CPX. Conclusion: This study showed that preclinical CPX was effective in improving nursing students' confidence in their nursing skills and critical thinking competence. Therefore, preclinical CPX is expected to be utilized in nursing practice education. Additional studies including those on control groups are recommended to compare differences between the preclinical CPX group and control group.
The purposed of this study was to identify the factors that affect Confidence in Performance Patient Safety Management targeted nursing students. The study subjects were 228 nursing students. The nursing students experienced patientl safety accidents in the fall (50.0%), needle puncture (18.5%), Patient identification error (12.0%), injection medication error (7.5%) and oral medication errors (4.3%). In the logistic regression analysis, Attitude of Patient Safety Management(t=6.09, p<.001), Clinical Decision Making(t=3.97, p<.001) and gender(t=2.56, p=.011) were significant factors related to Confidence of Performance Patient Safety Management. Based on the results of this study, we propose to develop a convergence education program that considers patient safety management attitude, clinical decision making ability, and gender in order to improve confidence of performance patient safety management of nursing students.
