  • Two ring-type conductance meters were manufactured to measure void fraction and its propagation speed in slug flow. The signal of conductance meter with two rings depends on liquid temperature. Therefore a conductance meter with separated probe designed by Coney (1973), which is independent of liquid temperature, was used and experimentally proved. The manufactured conductance meters showed a good repeatability and agreement with the analytical solution by Coney (1973). From time lag between two conductance meter, we could calculate the propagation speed of void fraction.

  • The objective of this study was to develop a real-time soil moisture meter using RF impedance. The impedance suchas capacitance and resistance (or conductance) was analyzed using parallel cylinder type capacitance probe(C-probe) and Q-meter (HP4342). The capacitance and conductance of soil increased as volumetric water content increased. The 5 MHz of modified Colpitts type crystal oscillator was designed to detect the capacitance change of the C-probe with moist soil. A third order polynomial regression model was proposed to describe the relationship between RF impedance and volumetric water content. The prototype real time moisture meter consisted of the C-probe, sample container, oscillator, frequency counter and related signal processing units. The calibration equation for measurement of volumetric moisture content of soil was developed and validated. The correlation coefficient and root mean square error between measured volumetric water content by oven method and predicted values by prototype moisture meter for unknown soil samples were 0.984 and 0.032$cm^3$$cm\^3$, respectively.

Double Layer (Wet/CVD $SiO_2$)의 Interface Trap Density에 대한 연구

  • 최근 MOS 소자들이 게이트 산화막을 Mono-layer가 아닌 Multi-Layer을 사용하는 추세이다. Bulk와 High-k물질간의 Dangling Bond를 줄이기 위해 Passivation 층을 만드는 것을 예로 들 수 있다. 이러한 Double Layer의 쓰임이 많아지면서 계면에서의 Interface State Density의 영향도 커지게 되면서 이를 측정하는 방법에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 $SiO_2$ Double Layer의 Interface State Density를 Conductance Method를 사용하여 구하는 연구를 진행하였다. Wet Oxidation과 Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) 공정을 이용하여 $SiO_2$ Double-layer로 증착한 후 Aluminium을 전극으로 하는 MOS-Cap 구조를 만들었다. 마지막 공정은 $450^{\circ}C$에서 30분 동안 Forming-Gas Annealing (FGA) 공정을 진행하였다. LCR meter를 이용하여 high frequency C-V를 측정한 후 North Carolina State University California Virtual Campus (NCSU CVC) 프로그램을 이용하여 Flatband Voltage를 구한 후에 Conductance Method를 측정하여 Dit를 측정하였다. 본 연구 결과 Double layer (Wet/CVD $SiO_2$)에 대해서 Conductance Method를 방법을 이용하여 Dit를 측정하는 것이 유효하다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 본 실험은 앞으로 많이 쓰이고 측정될 Double layer (Wet/CVD $SiO_2$)에 대한 Interface State Density의 측정과 분석에 대한 방향을 제시하는데 도움이 될 것이라 판단된다.

  • Pneumatic system is widely applied in various industry because it have a many advantage(low cost, high safety, etc..). For design of pneumatic system, accurate flow measurement is required. In this study, compressible fluid flow measurement apparatus was designed and built. It uses an isothermal chamber that can approximate isothermal condition. Therefore, it can be measured for flow-rate using pressure response of isothermal chamber. As a result, this apparatus can be measured for sonic conductance and critical pressure ratio of pneumatic components and it required less time and energy than conventional flow meter. The effectiveness of the designed apparatus is proved by experimental result.

Experimental Approach to Equalizing the Orifice Method with the Throughput One for the Measurement of TMP Pumping Speed

  • Methods of the characteristics evaluation of turbo-molecular pumps (TMP) are well-defined in the international measurement standards such as ISO, PNEUROP, DIN, JIS, and AVS. The Vacuum Center in the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science has recently designed, constructed, and established the integrated characteristics evaluation system of TMPs based on the international documents by continuously pursuing and acquiring the reliable international credibility through measurement perfection. The measurement of TMP pumping speed is normally performed with the throughput and orifice methods dependent on the mass flow regions. However, in the UHV range of the molecular flow region, the high uncertainties of the gauges, mass flow rates, and conductance are too critical to precisely accumulate reliable data. With UHV gauges of uncertainties less than 15% and a calculated conductance of the orifice, about 35% of pumping speed uncertainties are experimentally derived in the pressure range of less than $10^{-6}$ mbar. In order to solve the uncertainty problems of pumping speeds in the UHV range, we introduced an SRG with 1% accuracy and a constant volume flow meter (CVFM) to measure the finite mass flow rates down to $10^{-3}$ mbar-L/s with 3% uncertainty for the throughput method. In this way we have performed the measurement of pumping speed down to less than $10^{-6}$ mbar with an uncertainty of 6% for a 1000 L/s TMP. In this article we suggest that the CVFM has an ability to measure the conductance of the orifice experimentally with flowing the known mass through the orifice chambers, so that we may overcome the discontinuity problem encountering during introducing two measurement methods in one pumping speed evaluation sequence.

Comparison of NERICA and Asian rice among traits relevant to drought resistance in the field and the effects of compost

  • Recently NERICA (New Rice for Africa) was developed by a crossing of African rice (Oryza glaberrima Steud.) and Asian rice (Oryza sativa L.) in West Africa, and is considered to be drought resistant, but drought resistance of NERICA and differences between Asian rice are not clarified enough. In this research, NERICA (four cultivars and two lines), Asian rice (three cultivars and sativa parent of NERICA) and African rice (glaberrima parent of NERICA) were cultivated in the field in Shizuoka University under drought and traits of each cultivar and line relevant to drought resistance, stomatal conductance by porometer, soil water content of individual depths by TDR method, SPAD values by SPAD meter and leaf thickness by micrometer, were measured and compared with dry matter production and yield. Effects of compost were also compared among sativa parent, one NERICA cultivar and two NERICA lines. Glaberrima parent showed highest top dry weight. One NERICA line, one drought resistant Asian rice cultivar and sativa parent, showed higher top dry weight and yield (ear weight) than other Asian rice cultivars and NERICA cultivars and line tested. Compost tended to increase top dry weight and yield in one of NERICA line and sativa parent. But in one NERICA cultivar and line, top dry weight and yield were not increased. In one of Asian rice, one of NERICA line and sativa parent that showed high top dry weight and yield, stomatal conductance was high. On the contrary the glaberrima parent and in other NERICA cultivars and line it was low. In sativa parent compost increased stomatal conductance but in NERICA cultivar and lines it was not. Among cultivars and lines that showed high top dry weight and yield sativa parent and one of NERICA line SPAD value and leaf thickness were high but in one of Asian rice and glaberrima parent they were low. Cultivar and line differences in yield and top dry weight among Asian rice and NERICA were significantly correlated with those in stomatal conductance ($r=0.778^{**}$ and $r=0.654^*$, respectively) and those in leaf thickness ($r=0.600^*$ and $r=0.640^*$, respectively). In Asian rice cultivars average soil water content was significantly correlated with yield ($r=0.886^*$) but in NERICA cultivars and lines it was not significant correlated (r= -0.256). Cultivar and line differences in leaf thickness were significantly correlated with SPAD value ($r=0.773^{**}$). In Asian rice cultivars it was significantly correlated ($r=0.962^{**}$), but in NERICA cultivars and lines it was not significantly correlated (r=0.559). Asian rice cultivars tended to consume soil water to increase yield but in NERICA cultivars and lines the tendency was not clear. Correlation between SPAD value and leaf thickness was different between Asian rice and NERICA cultivars and lines, and in Asian rice cultivars it was significantly correlated but in NERICA cultivars and lines it was not significant. Importance of maintaining high stomatal conductance by high leaf thickness was clarified.

터보분자펌프(TMP) 배기속도 측정에 관한 고찰 (Study on the Measurement of TMP Pumping Speed)

  • 터보분자펌프(TMP)의 특성평가는 ISO, PNEUROP, DIN, JIS, AVS 등 세계 여러 나라의 표준제정기구에서 제정한 국제규격에 그 근거를 두고 있다. 한국표준과학연구원에서는 이러한 국제규격에 기반을 둔 터보분자펌프의 특성평가시스템을 자체 설계/제작하여 그 신뢰성을 확인하기 위해 개발품 및 상용품의 평가에 주력하고 있다. 터보분자펌프의 배기속도 측정방법으로서 기체흐름 영역에 따른 throughput method와 orifice method를 적용하고 있으나 측정게이지, 유량계 및 orifice conductance의 불확도 등 실질적으로 정확한 배기속도를 제시하기 위한 조건들의 제약 때문에 많은 측정오차를 포함하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 배기속도의 측정오차를 줄이기 위한 하나의 고찰로서 본 논문에서는 $10^{-1}$ Pa-L/s 영역까지의 유량 주입범위를 가지는 기 구축된 정적법을 이용한 유량주입에 기반을 둔 throughput method를 이용하여 1000 L/s TMP의 측정 능력을 검증하고자 한다. 또한 분자류 영역인 orifice method를 사용할 경우 고진공영역, 미세유량 주입영역으로 진입할수록 커질 수밖에 없는 배기속도 측정 불확도를 최소화시키기 위해 검증된 유량을 이용한 conductance 값을 제시하여, 기 언급한 두 가지 배기 속도 측정 방법의 연속성을 유지하기 위한 실험적인 방법론을 제기하고자 한다.

졸-겔법에 의한 $TiO_2$ 박막의 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of $TiO_2$ Thin Films by Sol-Gel Process)

  • to prepare the TiO2 thin films, acetyl-acetone(2.4-pentanedione)(1 : 1 molar ratio) was dissolved in the propanol solution of titanium(IV)isopropoxide(Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4). Al, Cr and Sb in the form of soluble salt and niobium ethoxide were added s dopants, respectively. Thin films were coated by the dip-coating method and characteristics were investigated by XRD, SEM and conductance meter. As a result, viscosity of sol was maintained below 4 centi Poise more than 20 days, and crystal growth and diminution of resistivity occurred as the heat treatment temperature increased. The grains grew over 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the lowest resistivity was obtained when Nb was added at 130$0^{\circ}C$.

고주파 임피던스를 이용한 토양수분함량 측정에 관한 연구 (Measurement of Soil Moisture Content Using RF Impedance in the Range of 1 to 30MHz)

  • This study was conducted to measure the moisture content of soil using RF impedance in the range of 1 to 30MHz. Considering the water potential flow in the soils, two types of sensor such as parallel cylinder and perpendicular plate type were fabricated and tested. The capacitance and resistance of sonsors for soil samples having moisture content range of 2 to 27% were measured by Q-meter (HP4342). The higher soil moisture content was and the larger soil bulk density was, the more the capacitance of sensors increased. To eliminate the effect of bulk density on measuring soil moisture content using RF impedance, two kinds of model having the density independent functions such as the ratio of capacitance change to conductance change and weight of water and dry soils respectively were developed and estimated by regression analysis.

관입형 피조미터와 시피지미터를 이용한 안성천 상류구간 하상 수리전도도 측정 (Measurements of Streambed Hydraulic Conductivity Using Drive-point Piezometers and Seepage Meters in the Upper Reaches of Anseong Stream)

  • 안성천에 위치한 공도 수위표 상류 구간에 대해 하상퇴적층을 통과하는 하천수-지하수 상호교환량과 수리경사를 측정하여 하상퇴적층의 수리전도도를 산정하였다. 하천수-지하수 상호유동량은 자체 제작한 시피지 미터를 이용하여 측정하였고, 수리경사는 장심도와 단심도 두 가지 종류의 관입형 피조미터를 하상퇴적층에 설치하여 피조미터내 수두 차이와 관입깊이 차이를 측정하여 산정하였다. 하천수-지하수 교환량은 -1.55 × 10-6~1.77 × 10-5 m/s, 연직방향 수리경사는 -0.122에서 0.030로 측정되었다. 교환량과 수리경사로 부터 연직방향 수리전도도를 산정한 결과 1.77 × 10-5~1.97 × 10-3 m/s로 지점별로 큰 차이를 나타내었다. 측정 결과는 Calver (2001)가 제시한 하상퇴적물 수리전도도의 일반적인 범위내에서 분포하였으며, 모래, 자갈층이 잘 발달되어 있어 기존의 국내 측정 결과 사례에 비해 큰 값을 보이는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 논문에서 적용한 고강도 스테인레스 재질의 피조미터와 시피지미터를 이용하여 하상퇴적층의 수리전도도를 측정하는 방법은 내구성과 휴대성이 우수하여 실무에서 매우 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
