In this paper, we proposed the new fuzzy pattern classifier which combines several fuzzy models with simple consequent parts hierarchically. The basic component of the proposed fuzzy pattern classifier with hierarchical structure is a fuzzy model with simple consequent part so that the complexity of the proposed fuzzy pattern classifier is not high. In order to analyze and divide the input space, we use Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm. In addition, we exploit Conditional Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm to analyze the sub space which is divided by Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm. At each clustered region, we apply a fuzzy model with simple consequent part and build the fuzzy pattern classifier with hierarchical structure. Because of the hierarchical structure of the proposed pattern classifier, the data distribution of the input space can be analyzed in the macroscopic point of view and the microscopic point of view. Finally, in order to evaluate the classification ability of the proposed pattern classifier, the machine learning data sets are used.

This study uses a quantile regression analysis to investigate intergenerational economic mobility in Korea. The analysis is based on data from the 1st through 11th waves of the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS) conducted from 1998-2008. The household nature of the data allows us to link parents' incomes to children's incomes at different points in time. Using a quantile regression analysis instead of mean one reveals that the effect of fathers' earnings are different across the conditional distribution of sons' earnings, particularly being larger on the upper quantile than on the lower quantile. After controlling effect of sons' college education by including a dummy variable for the degree, however, the pattern among quantile effects for fathers' earnings is no longer clear. Instead a new pattern emerges that education has a much larger effect on the upper quantiles than on the lower ones. Using nonparametric estimates of conditional density curves based on the quantile regression results, we derive some interesting features in graphical forms, which are not obvious in numerical analysis.
The increased frequency of meteorological disasters has been observed due to increased extreme events such as heavy rainfalls and flash floods. Numerous studies using high-resolution weather radar rainfall data have been carried out on the hydrological effects. In this study, a conditional merging technique is employed, which makes use of geostatistical methods to extract the optimal information from the observed data. In this context, three different techniques such as kriging, inverse distance weighting and spline interpolation methods are applied to conditionally merge radar and ground rainfall data. The results show that the estimated rainfall not only reproduce the spatial pattern of sub-hourly rainfall with a relatively small error, but also provide reliable temporal estimates of radar rainfall. The proposed modeling framework provides feasibility of using conditionally merged rainfall estimation at high spatio-temporal resolution in ungauged areas.
The objective of this paper is to illustrate that kriging can provide an effective framework both for integrating remote sensing data and for uncertainty modeling through a case study of sediment grain size mapping with remote sensing data. Landsat TM data which show reasonable relationships with grain size values are used as secondary information for sediment grain size mapping near the eastern part of Anmyeondo and Cheonsuman bay. The case study results showed that uncertainty attached to prediction at unsampled locations was significantly reduced by integrating remote sensing data through the analysis of conditional variance from conditional cumulative distribution functions. It is expected that the kriging-based approach presented in this paper would be efficient integration and analysis methodologies for any environmental thematic mapping using secondary information as well as sediment grain size mapping.
Purpose: This study investigates the influence of VMI on the supply chain performance over time. By examining each supply chain member's ongoing performance, this study figures out how VMI allows the vendor to overcome the initial loss and eventually provides the benefit to every supply chain member. Research design, data, and methodology: The proposed mathematical model describes the supply chain system where a manufacturer and a retailer make the operational decisions to maximize their own profits. By using the numerical examples with arbitrary data, VMI and non-VMI are compared in terms of their profit changes over time. Results: The numerical analysis shows that VMI results in greater overall profits for both manufacturer and retailer than non-VMI, while the manufacturer make a loss in the early stage of VMI implementation. This study also examines the impacts of certain conditional factors on the performance of VMI. Conclusions: This study supports the idea that VMI leads to manufacturer's initial loss but it brings greater profits to both manufacturer and retailer than non-VMI after all. In addition, the result of this study provides the managerial implications about the particular condition that allows VMI to achieve a significant financial performance improvement over non-VMI.

Purpose: This study examined a comprehensive model for assessing the success probability of electric vehicle (EV) commercialization in the Korean market. The study identified three risks associated with successful commercialization which were technology, social, policy, environmental, and consumer risk. Research design, methodology: The assessment of the riskiness was represented by a Bayes belief network, where the probability of success at each stage is conditioned on the outcome of the preceding stage. Probability of success in each stage is either dependent on input (i.e., investment) or external factors (i.e., air quality). Initial input stages were defined as the levels of investment in product R&D, battery technology, production facilities and battery charging facilities. Results: Reasonable levels of investment were obtained by expert opinion from industry experts. Also, a survey was carried out with 78 experts consisting of automaker engineers, managers working at EV parts manufacturers, and automobile industry researchers in government think tanks to obtain the conditional probability distributions. Conclusion: The output of the model was the likelihood of success - expressed as the probability of market acceptance - that depended on the various input values. A model is a useful tool for understanding the EV industry as a whole and explaining the likely ramifications of different investment levels.

This study examines the nonlinear relationship between financial development and economic growth in Pakistan using the threshold regression model for the period 1980-2017. We also employed quantile regression with 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75 quantiles of conditional distribution. The quantile regression is based on minimizing of sum of squared residuals. The result indicates that economic growth responds positively to financial development when the level of financial development surpasses the threshold value of 0.151. However, when financial development lies below the threshold value (that is, 0.151), its impact on economic growth is negative. Thus, when financial development of Pakistan surpasses the threshold level, it contributes more towards economic growth since greater level of financial development contributes more to boosts economic growth. This finding reveals that economic growth reacts differently to financial development, and the relationship between financial development and economic growth is U-shaped in Pakistan. Among the other variables, physical capital, labor force, and government expenditure exert a positive effect on economic growth. Furthermore, inflation rate and trade openness have an insignificant impact on economic growth. The results of quantile regression also confirm the non-linear relationship between financial development and economic growth in Pakistan. The finding of this study suggests revamping of financial sector policies in Pakistan.

As the power demands increases, one of the most important data is inside electric field of equipment in designing of insulators ami insulated wire for EHV distribution line. So far finite element analysis method is widely used to calculate this electric field. However as the shape of insulator becomes complicated, it is difficult in producing the mesh which suitable the shape. Especially, we have many difficulty that produce dense fine mesh only where the electric field is concentrated. Therefore in this paper, we perform the each conditional analysis of electric field using the Maxwell 3D Simulator to recover this defects. And we try to analyze electric field through the conventional 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional analysis in case of salt contamination on the surface of a insulator.
Purpose: This study aimed to deal with disputes between the seller and the buyer in connection with the Letter of Credit (LC) in a sales contract. The Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) provides the rules on the fundamental breaches which can lead to termination of the sales contract but the CISG is not enough to govern issues arising from the LC disputes when the sales contract is not clear about the payment terms. This paper tried to find some solutions to the disputes by considering international rules, such as the Principles of European Contract Law (PECL). Research design, data and methodology: The methodology applied in this study was an analysis of some court decisions and extended literature review. Results: The study revealed that in contracts for the sale of international goods, the buyer was obliged to open an LC as manner of payment. If the buyer failed to open an LC or amend the terms of the LC, the seller could avoid the contract because this could deprive the seller's expected interest. Conclusions: Few studies in Korea have been comprehensively analyzed in terms of the obligations of regarding the LC with respect to the CISG in court cases. This study suggests safeguarding the buyer and seller when the LC is considered absolute or conditional.
In this paper, pseudo noise (PN) code acquisition performance with multiple antennas in a UWB time hopping/code division multiple access system is analyzed. The closed form for the conditional probability is derived, using the Gauss-Hermite quadrature formula, when the signal with Gaussian distribution goes through the lognormal fading channel. The performance comparison of the above mentioned schemes shows that the code acquisition performance with a diversity combining technique, especially when increasing the number of antennas, is more robust than that using no diversity.
