This study tackles the development of an improved detail of partially restrained CFT square column-to-beam connection and the evaluation of its mechanical behavior under monotonic loading. The connection is designed to strengthen shearing capacity at the bottom of the connection due to the ultimate behavior of PR-CC by its detail of the bottom connection and simplify the fabrication process. The suggested connection is the welded bottom beam flange connection(M-2) and is compared with the existing PR-CC of bolted seat angle connection(M-1). Two specimens were fabricated in actual size and tested under monotonic loading. Based on the test results, the welded bottom beam flange connection exhibited about 85% of the stiffness of steel beam. It was similar to the bolted seat angle connection and behaved as PR-CC. The specimen of the supposed connection type failed at the shear connection of web but was similar to the bolted seat angle connection until the failure. It obtained sufficient stiffness and capacity through the reinforcingsteel and the capacity and deformational ability equivalent to the full-plastic moment through the anchor inside the steel tube at the web connection. So, it can be said that the suggested connection exhibits sufficient ductile behavior.
The main object of this study is to develop the infiltration facility that it can be used in grounds, parking areas, roads, pathway, housing etc. As a result, it is much alike in the infiltration method of facility to use permeable concrete, permeable hole and be filled with broken stones. And through this experiment, it was perceived the truth that the state of ground, the groundwater level, buildings around them, the history of submerging and the applicable infiltration facilities are the key. To verify how much the infiltration facility reduce the outflow, we set up the infiltration facility in the test area. In result, it reduced the outflow 89% in 24 mm rainfall, 93% in 12 mm, 51% in 140 mm, 75% in 64 mm and 80% in 54 mm. As the rainfall rate increased, the infiltration increased up to the limited rainfall. And in the limited rainfall, we knew that the infiltration was reduced suddenly. Infiltration is closely related to the state of ground, the rain interval etc. and we will analyze these conditions through the continuous monitoring.
Nowadays, some studies have been performed for rockbolt method widely used in Korea. To make large slopes, tunnels or rock structures stable, supporting systems, such as anchor bolt, rock bolt which are developed recently, are commonly used. In this study, laboratory pullout tests were carried out to compare the characteristics of rock bolt that is most widely used with ones of rock bolt by newly developed circular model testers. Re-pullout test for the rock bolt in which loading and unloading cycles are repeated several times showed that the maximum pullout load is almost constant irrespective of the number of loading cycles, which may be due to no failure between rock bolt and filler that is filled with soils and concrete as a substitute. A development of rock bolt fillers as supporters using to protect people in tunnels and slopes is reviewed as a probable man-made hazard after excavation works. The functions of the grouted rock bolts associated with reinforcement effects also should be assessed in this study, which develop the sealing apparatus preventing from overflowing mortar out of a rock bolt hole for securing safety in the tunnel and slopes in order to secure stability named the sealing packer.

The concrete wall is the most useful of retaining structure which can obtain the engineering stability, but has problems that is not friendly with nature environment in a fine view, such as poor rear drainage, and shrinkage crack by temperature difference, etc. Because of this problems, the research for a segmental crib retaining wall has been performed. A segmental crib retaining wall is quickly and easily erected because is possible to be erected as the individual members, and is not sensitive to differential settlement and earthquakes. Also, it shows effective drainage and has a friendly advantage with nature environment because of being able to be planted with vines and shrubs in retaining walls The design of crib retaining walls has traditionally been based on classical soil mechanics theories. These theories, originally derived by Rankine(1857) and Coulomb(1776), assume that the wall acts as a rigid body. This assumption results in failure being predicted by either monolithic overturning or base sliding mechanisms. However, the wall consists of individual members which have been created a three dimensional grid. This grid confines an fill mass which becomes part of the wall. The filled wall resists the earth pressure with the same mechanism of classical gravity walls. Because of the flexibility of the individual segment, it allows relative movement between the individual members within the wall. The three dimensional flexible grid leads to stress redistribution when the wall is subjected to external or fill loads. Due to the flexibility and the stress redistribution, the failure of segmental crib wall consists of not only overturing and base sliding but the local deformation and the failure between the segmental members. It has been researched in the field that due to this flexibility and load redistribution, serviceability failure of segmental crib walls is unlikely to be due to overturning or base sliding. Therefore, in this study, the relative displacement appearance of retaining wall due to variation of inclination is measured to examine this behavior characteristics. Also, the behavior characteristics of retaining walls by surcharge load, and location of acting point of retaining wall rear, and the displacement characteristics and deflections are estimated about the existence and nonexistence of Rear Stretcher performing an role in transmitting earth pressure of Header and Stretcher organizing retaining walls. In this study, a series of fire experiments under $HC_{inc}$ and ISO834 (duration of 4 hour) fire scenarios were carried out for three different types of fire protection measures for the segment joint to evaluate their applicabilities to an immersed tunnel. The experimental results revealed that an expansion joint installed to allow relative movements between concrete element ends in an segment joint is the most vulnerable to a severe fire. For the fire protection measure where the originally designed steel plates at an expansion joint arc replaced by fire-resistant boards, the experiments showed that they cannot achieve good fireproofing performance under both $HC_{inc}$ fire scenario and ISO834 (4 hour) fire scenarios since the installation of fire-resistant boards results in the reduction of the sprayed fire insulation thickness. On the other hand, the application of modified bent steel plates replacing the original steel plates was proved to be very successful in fireproofing of the expansion joint due to more sprayed materials filled in bent steel plate than in the original design concept as well as higher adhesion between the steel plate and the sprayed fire insulation layer.

There are various methods of finishing concrete surfaces, and when considering workability, the spray method is effective, but rebound occurs. The allocation of rebound occurrence control should be adjusted according to the materials used. Thus, a basic study was conducted on multiple techniques for reducing the rebound incidence that are suitable for surface finishing materials containing a photocatalyst. A prior study derived the reduction effect and optimal mix ratio for photocatalytic performance. Based on that study, the rebound reduction was verified according to the specifications of the content and the mechanical durability characteristics of the mixed materials. Rebound, compressive strength, flexural rigidity, and table flow tests were done. The flow was fixed at 170±10 mm considering the workability of the mortar spray equipment. For the experimental variables, the rebound number was adjusted to the silica sand variables relative to the cement weight, and silica sands No. 5 and No. 7 were used. The results show the highest compression strength in the final S-1 variable, and the amount of rebound was minimized. These results were sufficiently filled with the bindings of the silica pores, which increased the binding force between the aggregates, resulting in a lower amount of rebound.

In order to suggest a reasonable design for the circular concrete filled tube steel column-foundation connection applying high-tension bolts, Overall structural behavior and characteristics according to various variables of column-foundation connection are numerically analyzed using a commercial FE analysis program, ABAQUS. To that goal, finite element analysis is conducted on the basis of the previous study replacing anchor bolts to high-tension bolts, and the analytical results are validated by comparison with experimental results. Also, the various variables(embedded depth and grade of anchor, and height and thickness of rib) involved in behavior of the column-foundation connection are selected through analyzing the current design criteria, and the characteristics of the column-foundation connection are compared and analyzed according to the various variables. In case of the anchor bolts, Applying the high-tension bolts is more advantage and securing the embedded depth beyond 0.5D is recommendable. In case of the rib, a minimum of 0.5D for rib's height and $0.4t_b$ for rib's thickness should be secured to develop the structural performance.
Crib wall is one of the segmental grid retaining walls using headers and stretchers to establish the framework of the wall. In this method, grids formed by the intersection of headers and stretchers are generally filled with the gravel to maintain the weight of the wall. Therefore, the construction can be carried out with higher speed and much economically when compared with the concrete retaining wall. Furthermore, it has high drain capacity, and environmentally friendly aspects also have been pointed out because the possibility of the planting at the front of the wall. However, in the wooden crib wall method, the relative movement between the individual headers and stretchers was generally recognized, and stress redistribution in the gravel filling was also observed when subjected to the external loading and self-weight of filling. In this study, it was analyzed fracture types and causes of wooden crib wall through detailed investigation and analysis of a large crib wall construction site. As a results, it occurred the damage in the members of 5.7% in a total of 2,315 locations and the damage of header occurred in the members of a header 80.2%. The 65.7% of the damaged header are concentrated in the lower part of crib wall. Therefore, it was analyzed the differences of fracture types and causes of wooden crib wall depending on the installation position and the kinds of members. It is considered basically the members of various forms of distortion and the grain affecting.
To study the effect of surface crosslinked layer on the crosslinked poly(sodium acrylate) (cPSA) absorbent, we synthesized several surface crosslinked cPSAs with 5, 10 and 20 g of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) by an inverse emulsion polymerization method to delay the absorption of excess water in concrete. We measured the compressive and flexural strength of mortars having 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 wt% cPSA-EGDMA. We observed the increase of compressive and flexural strength of the cPSA-EGDMA added cement mortars except for the 0.5 wt% cPSA-EGDMA (20 g) added cement mortar. 1.0 wt% cPSA-EGDMA (5 g) added cement mortar showed about 16% and 10% increased compressive and flexural strength than those of plain cement mortar. To study the effect of porosity on compressive and flexural strength, we used FE-SEM and porosimeter. FE-SEM analysis showed swollen cPSMAEGDMA (5 g) filled between calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) crystals. We observed the decreased porosity of the cPSA-EGDMA added cement mortars than that of plain cement mortar. 1.0 wt% cPSA-EGDMA (5 g) cement mortar showed the lowest porosity of 16.5%.

The Incheon Bridge, which was opened to the traffic in October 2009, is an 18.4 km long sea-crossing bridge connecting the Incheon International Airport with the expressway networks around the Seoul metropolitan area by way of Songdo District of Incheon City. This bridge is an integration of several special featured bridges and the major part of the bridge consists of cable-stayed spans. This marine cable-stayed bridge has a main span of 800 m wide to cross the vessel navigation channel in and out of the Incheon Port. In waterways where ship collision is anticipated, bridges shall be designed to resist ship impact forces, and/or, adequately protected by ship impact protection (SIP) systems. For the Incheon Bridge, large diameter circular dolphins as SIP were made at 44 locations of the both side of the main span around the piers of the cable-stayed bridge span. This world's largest dolphin-type SIP system protects the bridge against the collision with 100,000 DWT tanker navigating the channel with speed of 10 knots. Diameter of the dolphin is up to 25 m. Vessel collision risk was assessed by probability based analysis with AASHTO Method-II. The annual frequency of bridge collapse through the risk analysis for 71,370 cases of the impact scenario was less than $0.5{\times}10^{-4}$ and satisfies design requirements. The dolphin is the circular sheet pile structure filled with crushed rock and closed at the top with a robust concrete cap. The structural design was performed with numerical analyses of which constitutional model was verified by the physical model experiment using the geo-centrifugal testing equipment. 3D non-linear finite element models were used to analyze the structural response and energy-dissipating capability of dolphins which were deeply embedded in the seabed. The dolphin structure secures external stability and internal stability for ordinary loads such as wave and current pressure. Considering failure mechanism, stability assessment was performed for the strength limit state and service limit state of the dolphins. The friction angle of the crushed stone as a filling material was reduced to $38^{\circ}$ considering the possibility of contracting behavior as the impact.
