A Study on the Factors Affecting Adolescents' Internet Addiction for the Preventive Education of Internet Addiction (인터넷 중독 예방 교육을 위한 청소년의 인터넷 중독 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The problem of adolescents' Internet addiction is getting serious. So, preventive education of Internet addiction that cultivate right Internet use attitude is getting important. The purpose of this study is to offer a suggestion about preventive education of Internet addiction based on characteristics of adolescents' Internet addiction. We analyzed factors affecting Internet addiction by using multidimensional scale of Internet addiction for adolescent. This scale is composed of eleven factors that are mentioned by previous researches. As a result, the significant factors affecting Internet addiction are internet use time, escape from reality, anger-control, depression, family coherence, social competence, impulsivity, self-efficacy. Based on these analysis, we made a suggestion about preventive education of Internet addiction.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between internet addiction and stress of college students. To assess the degree of internet addiction, internet addiction test of the center for online addiction was completed. Subjects were divided into three group depending on internet addiction ; subjects with 20-49 internet scores were grouping as 'normal usage group', subjects with 50-79 internet scores were grouping as 'addiction tendency group', and subjects with more than 80 internet scores were grouping as 'internet addiction group'. In this study it is found that interpersonal relationship stress is significantly related to internet addiction. Also, the result of this study shows that home background stress and school background stress have influence on internet addiction.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest some policy and theoretical implications for the youth's internet game addiction by analyzing the moderating effects of social support in the relationship of Oiettolie propensity and game addiction behaviors. For the purpose of this study, this study set a research model about the causal relationships among the study variables by reviewing previous studies and surveyed high school students for this research. The analytical results of this study are the followings. First, lack of communication and impulsivity have significant influences on Oiettolie propensity. Second, Oiettolie propensity has a significant influence on youth's game addiction. Third, social support moderates the relationship between Oiettolie propensity and youth's internet game addition. This study suggests some implications for the youth internet game addiction.

Effects of the smartphone addiction on adjustment to college life - Moderating effect of impulsivity -

  • In this paper, we propose a smartphone addiction affected adjustment to college life and the moderating effects of impulsivity in the relations between smartphone addiction and adjustment to college life. For this, it conducted the questionnaire with 348 college students who showed higher use of smartphone and analyzed the data from the questionnaire. The results of the analysis are as follows. It was found that smartphone addiction had significant influences on the adjustment to college life. As a result of examining the moderating effects of impulsivity in the relations between smartphone addiction and adjustment to college life, there were the moderating effects of impulsivity. This study was available in giving useful suggestions to prevent smartphone addiction and help college students adjust to their college life through impulsivity control.

A Study on Correlation Analysis of Smart Phone Addiction and Age Groups in Korea

  • As information and communication technology develops, it brings various benefits to our lives. However, information and communication technology has had various side effects in our lives. Representative side effects include internet addiction, smartphone addiction, copyright violation, personal information infringement, cyber bullying and hacking. Recently, smart phone addiction rate is increasing with the spread of smart devices in Korea. In this study, we analyze the correlation between age group and smartphone addiction. In order to obtain fair and objective results, statistical analysis was performed based on the national statistical data of the National Information Society Agency. The results showed that the infant group and the adult group were correlated with the smartphone addiction rate. In this study, we analyzed the causes of smartphone addiction for different age groups. We also discuss dangers of smartphone addiction for different age groups. In additions, we proposed various ways to prevent and cure smartphone addiction for infants, adults, and senior citizen group. The results of this study are expected to be widely used as a remedy for smartphone addiction and future smartphone addiction research works.

  • Until now, the study of Internet addiction have focused on (1)Internet overuse (2)addiction (3)the real situation of disability in order. This approach have given a social awareness about Internet addiction as well as have been used as base for introduction of psychological and emotional means to prevent and treat Internet addiction. However, There are very few an ethical approach that is related in human values that what purpose does people use Internet for and how to use Internet. Accordingly, This study provides teleological, deontological, virtue and responsible ethics of Internet addiction. And, this study insist that Internet addiction is a wrongdoing on the basis of four ethical views. Based on these claims, this study stress the needs for Internet ethical education as a program to prevent and treat Internet addiction and se to tu1rn pop1 computer ethics into theoretical computer ethics.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of internet addiction by self-esteem level. Most of the existing research has introduced a variety of methods to treat the addiction but the study for casual factors are not entirely satisfactory. Internet addiction is intensified by a variety of casual factors, but during the survey to validate the hypothesis that the biggest impact is the self-esteem level. According to this study, psychological factors of self-esteem is caused an internet addiction than social environmental factor and familial factor. The results of this study can be utilized in a variety of programs to increase the level of self-esteem as a reference for the treatment of internet addiction.

  • Recently, the use of computer game by Korean teenagers is rapidly growing due to the expansion of the computer popularization and the development of game industry. Of all the teenagers, 82.4% have experience of playing computer game and statistics shows that 22.4% of them play everyday. There is an opinion that the computer game not only improves self confidence and concentration but also enhances internet use, foreign language usage and cognitive ability so that it accelerates learning efficacy and releases stress. On the other hand, there also exists a negative opinion on the symptoms of its addiction. Young(1996) warns that like other addictions, computer game addiction can provoke social problems such as loss of control, desire, marriage problem, schoolwork failure, financial deficiency and loss of employment. Therefore, this study has investigated how computer game addiction affects teenagers' personality. For this purpose, I have conducted the research on the reality of teenagers'computer game use, computer game addiction assessment, analysis on the difference between male and female, and on the relation between the level of computer game addiction and teenagers' personality. As a result, it is confirmed that the computer game addiction affects negatively to teenagers' personality such as stability, self-controlling, perceiving emotion, expressing emotion and controlling emotion.

Chaotic Phenomena in Addiction Model for Digital Leisure

  • Chaotic dynamics have been studied by many researchers in the fields of biology, physics, and engineering. Interest in chaos is also expanding to the social sciences such as politics, economics, and others, including the prediction of societal events. The concept of leisure has developed from a passive concept correlated with relaxation, entertainment, and ideology formation into a positive concept that assumes a more active role. As information and communications technology develops, digital leisure activity is expected to continue spreading. This expansion of digital leisure function correctly, as well as. Traditional leisure activity functions correctly more, whereas digital leisure activity is predicted to function incorrectly more often. In this paper, we propose a mathematical addiction model of digital leisure that deals with its dysfunctions such as addiction to digital leisure, including computer games, internet search, internet chatting, and social media. Herein, to solve addiction to digital leisure, we propose a model derived from a nicotine addiction.

A Study on Impact of Smartphone Addiction on the Mental Health -Focused on Moderating Effect of Parent-Child Relationship-

  • This study examines the effect of smartphone to adolescent's mental health and defines moderating effect of parent-child relationship. For this purpose, 278 subjects were surveyed from 1 middle schools in Gwangju and Jeonnam area. The result of this study are as follows. First, when verifying the impact of smartphone addiction on their mental health, The smartphone addiction was found as the key variable that has a negative impact on mental health. The results indicated that adolescents with higher levels of smartphone addiction more likely to have lower levels of mental health. Second, impact of parent-child relationship on their mental health was analyzed. The analytic results suggest that parent-child relationship has a impact on their mental health. In other words, higher parent-child relationship means higher mental health. Third, the moderating effect of parent-child relationship was analyzed. The parent-child relationship check the moderating effect of do smartphone addiction on their mental health. The implications for social work practice were also discussed.
