A HMM-based Method of Reducing the Time for Processing Sound Commands in Computer Games (컴퓨터 게임에서 HMM 기반의 명령어 신호 처리 시간 단축을 위한 방법)

  • In computer games, most of GUI methods are keyboards, mouses and touch screens. The total time of processing the sound commands for games is the sum of input time and recognition time. In this paper, we propose a method for taking only the prefixes of the input signals for sound commands, resulting in the reduced the total processing time, instead of taking the whole input signals. In our method, command sounds are recognized using HMM(Hidden Markov Model), where separate HMM's are built for the whole input signals and their prefix signals. We experiment our proposed method with representative commands of platform games. The experiment shows that the total processing time of input command signals reduces without decreasing recognition rate significantly. The study will contribute to enhance the versatility of GUI for computer games.

  • Use of a passive bistatic radar (PBR) system in the surveillance or monitoring of an area has its advantages. For example, a PBR system is able to utilize any available signal of opportunity (for example, broadcasting, communication, or radio navigation signals) for the purposes of surveillance. With this in mind, there are potentially many research areas to be explored; in particular, the capability of signals from existing and future communication systems, such as 4G and 5G. Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is the world's most current communication system. Given this fact, this paper presents the latest feasibility studies and experimental results from using LTE signals in PBR applications. Details are provided about aspects such as signal characteristics, experimental configurations, and SNR studies. Six experimental scenarios are carried out to investigate the detection performance of our proposed system on ground-moving targets. The ability to detect is demonstrated through use of the cross-ambiguity function. The detection results suggest that LTE signals are suitable as a source signal for PBR.

  • Science and technology-related societies in the interior of a country sum up to approximately 660, and are increasing yearly, due to the development of new research fields and segmentation of past studies. Such societies are contributed with latest academic research information, and the submitted studies go through an review process before publication. A majority of the societies employ the traditional off-line review method; various problems and issues occur in delay of submission, review, revision, and management of the numerous paper submitted and published. Therefore, this study suggests the design of, and implemented an on-line paper review system which processes on-line submission and review of paper, facilitates swift and review progress, and enables efficient control and management on general tasks and academic information through integrated administration of members and published works.

  • Automatic post editing is a research field that aims to automatically correct errors in machine translation results. This research is mainly being focus on high resource language pairs, such as English-German. Recent APE studies are mainly adopting transfer learning based research, where pre-training language models, or translation models generated through self-supervised learning methodologies are utilized. While translation based APE model shows superior performance in recent researches, as such researches are conducted on the high resource languages, the same perspective cannot be directly applied to the low resource languages. In this work, we apply two transfer learning strategies to Korean-English APE studies and show that transfer learning with translation model can significantly improves APE performance.

  • Neural machine translation using deep neural network has emerged as a mainstream research, and an abundance of investment and studies on model structure and parallel language pair have been actively undertaken for the best performance. However, most recent neural machine translation studies pass along decoding strategy to future work, and have insufficient a variety of experiments and specific analysis on it for generating language to maximize quality in the decoding process. In machine translation, decoding strategies optimize navigation paths in the process of generating translation sentences and performance improvement is possible without model modifications or data expansion. This paper compares and analyzes the significant effects of the decoding strategy from classical greedy decoding to the latest Dynamic Beam Allocation (DBA) in neural machine translation using a sequence to sequence model.

  • Recent developments of S.I. engine, aiming to higher power, better fuel economy, lower air pollution and better driveability, have much focused on the importance of the role of computer simulation in engine research and development. In this point of view, improving engine performance requires finding some means to improve volumetric efficiency. Up to now there have been several attempts to optimize the intake and exhaust system of internal system of S.I. engine by computer simulation. There appear to be few studies available, however, of such simulation & experimental studies applied to the optimization of exhaust manifold configuration. In this study, gas exchange & power process of 4 cylinder S.I. Engine was studies numerically & experimentally, and governing equation of a one-dimensional unsteady compressible flow and combustion process were respectively solved by a characteristics method and 2-zone model. The aim of this study is to predict and investigate the influence of pressure wave interaction at the exhaust systems on engine performance with widely differing exhaust manifold configuration.

  • How to maintain the optimal electric power generation mix is one of the important problems in electric power industry. The objective of this study is to develop a computer model which can be used to forecast the investment in power generation unit by the plant owners after restructuring of electric power industry. Restructuring of electric power industry will make difference in decision making process of investment in power generation unit. After Privatiazation of Power Industry, Gencos will think that profit is the most important factor among all others attracting the investment in the industry. Coal power generation is better than LNG CCGT in terms of profit. However, many studies show that LNG CCGT will be main electric power generation source because the rest of factors other than profit in LNG CCGT are superior than Coal power generation. The impacts of the various government policies can be analyzed using the computer model, thus the government can formulate effective policies for achieving the desired electric power generation mix.

  • As the Internet has grown, energy consumption and GHG emission from internet use have become issues in recent years. On the other hand, such interest in greening the Internet has focused on edge devices, and there is a lack of deeper related studies of the energy wasted by excessive network-connectivity and the savings potential in wired network equipment. This study presents the background and reasonability of studies on the energy efficiency of wired networks in terms of the environment, economy and energy resources. The energy consumption and savings potential of network equipment were also estimated and the major factors of energy consumption was analyzed based on the data, and future studies for the Internet are presented.

  • In this study, we tried to find out various characteristics of adolescents' computer game using out of functionalism. We used in-depth interviews to 18 adolescents to investigate what they think about games and how they use games. Adolescents showed positive perspectives and had mature attitudes to games. Games are leisure activities which can be carried out only after finishing homework, the fiction which is less important than the reality, something that needs proper restriction. Also, peer group strongly affected their game using.

  • As smartphone use has become so popular recently, bullying and harassment in cyber space are a growing problem both at home and abroad. While various studies on cyberbullying in other countries began more than a decade ago, there are few studies in Korea. In order to effectively respond to cyberbullying, diverse studies based on in-depth analysis of the problem should be conducted. Therefore, this study describes the definitions and types of cyberbullying, the differences between traditional bullying and cyberbullying, and the causes and effects of cyberbullying. In addition, this study analyzes the existing research related to the response strategies of cyberbullying and then suggests its own prevention and intervention strategies.
