  • This study is for implementation of PC based Motor fault diagnosis system. By using harmonics and current signals of the motor, this system diagnoses the motor condition by accumulated harmonic contribution rate. In this proposed system that was composed of 5 parts. A sensor, connection box, evaluation board, device server, and main computer are those. There were two types of sensor, one was harmonic sensor the other was current sensors. The signal was acquired by sensor, and transferred to evaluation board. Second one is connection box. Because the output type of sensor and input type of evaluation board is different, connection box was necessary. Third one was evaluation board. The signal from the sensor was converted to digital signal in evaluation board. And this signal was transferred to device server. Fourth one was device server. Device server transferred the data from evaluation board to main computer. And the last one was other parts controlled by main computer in main computer, there were communication and diagnosis algorithms. The result was derived by main computer. In the result, there were 12 categories and 5 levels of motor conditions. The proposed system had some advantages comparing with stand alone type commercial motor fault diagnosis system. The first, by using remote access it was easier to get the conditions of motor. The second, there was no need to handle the sensors when users measured the motor signals. By this property, no one was necessary at motor location site. The third, this system was less restricted by times and places than commercial stand alone type diagnosis system. Therefore users can operate this system only using the main computer. Once the sensors are installed at the motor, users doesn't need to move to check up the condition of motors. Moreover, if there is ethernet hub, many motors can be not only diagnosed at once but also decreased its cost.

  • Machine learning constructs an objective function from learning data, and predicts the result of the data generated by checking the objective function through test data. In machine learning, input data is subjected to a normalisation process through a preprocessing. In the case of numerical data, normalization is standardized by using the average and standard deviation of the input data. In the case of nominal data, which is non-numerical data, it is converted into a one-hot code form. However, this preprocessing alone cannot solve the problem. For this reason, we propose a method that uses ontology to normalize input data in this paper. The test data for this uses the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value of the Wi-Fi device collected from the mobile device. These data are solved through ontology because they includes noise and heterogeneous problems.

  • Recently, many researches of making more comfortable input device based on gaze detection technology have been performed in human computer interface. Previous researches were performed on the computer environment with a large sized monitor. With recent increase of using mobile device, the necessities of interfacing by gaze detection on mobile environment were also increased. In this paper, we research about the gaze detection method by using UMPC (Ultra-Mobile PC) and an embedded camera of UMPC based on face and facial feature detection by AAM (Active Appearance Model). This paper has following three originalities. First, different from previous research, we propose a method for tracking user's gaze position in mobile device which has a small sized screen. Second, in order to detect facial feature points, we use AAM. Third, gaze detection accuracy is not degraded according to Z distance based on the normalization of input features by using the features which are obtained in an initial user calibration stage. Experimental results showed that gaze detection error was 1.77 degrees and it was reduced by mouse dragging based on the additional facial movement.

  • With increasing the number of smart device such as Tablet PC, smart phone and netbook, information security which based on smart device in mobile environment have become the issue. It is important to enter a password safety. In various types of mobile devices, because of hardware limitation of device, it is difficult that to equip secondary input device such as keyboard and mouse. Also, a loss of accuracy becomes a problem because input information was entered by touch screen. Because of problem mentioned above it can be predicted to change password scheme text based password scheme to graphical password scheme, graphical password scheme is easy to use and is resistant to shoulder surfing attack. So this paper proposes new graphical password scheme based 5 strokes which are made by decomposed the Korean to defend against shoulder surfing attack.

  • Objective: In this study, two types of foot-controlled mouse devices are compared with a hand mouse in the input tasks requiring repetitively switching between a keyboard and a mouse. Background: Foot-controlled mouse devices have been developed for persons with impairments in the mobility of their hands. However, some researchers insisted that the foot-controlled mouse devices could be effectively used by the persons with no limits to their hand mobility. There are needs to investigate the efficiency of the foot-controlled mouse devices, when they are used by the nondisabled people. Method: Participants conducted the input tasks, requiring repetitive switches between a keyboard and a computer mouse. The used computer mouse devices were two types of foot-controlled mouse and a typical hand mouse. Participants performed three types of input task for five days and three types of task performance were measured; the number of completed input tasks within a given practice time, subjective satisfaction level and the time wasted for the mouse control. Results: For five days, the performance of input tasks sharply increased in input tasks by foot-controlled mouse devices rather than a hand mouse. After five days, the level of satisfaction on the foot-controlled mouse devices approached to about 76% of a hand mouse satisfaction level. The control time of the foot-controlled mouse devices also approached to about 109% of a hand mouse control time. Conclusion: After only five-day practice, the input task performance by foot-controlled mouse devices approached to that of a hand mouse. This result may suggest that the foot-controlled mouse devices can be effectively used as an alternative input device for the nondisabled people, if input tasks are easy and enough practice time is provided. Application: The results of this study might help to design foot-controlled mouse devices and to expend the usage of them.

  • This paper is given a full detail of mathematical analyses of input current for novel active type power factor correction(PFC) AC-DC converter of step up-down added electric isolation. These are compared with harmonics components of input current for a conventional PFC converter of electric isolation type. The proposed PFC converter is constructed in using a new loss-less snubber circuit to achieve a soft switching of control device. Also the proposed converter for discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) eliminates the complicated circuit control requirement and reduces the size of components. The input current waveform in the proposed converter is got to be a sinusoidal form of discontinuous pulse in proportion to magnitude of ac input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, input power factor is nearly unity and the control method is simple. Particularly, the stored energy of loss-less snubber capacitor is recovered with input side and increases input current from resonant operation. The result is that input power factor of the proposed converter is higher than that of a conventional PFC converter. Some simulative results on computer and experimental results are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results.

  • In this paper, we propose advanced screen detector as a tool for selecting the object for tracking and estimating its distance from a screen using fuzzy logic in vision based pointing device. Our system classifies the line component of the input image into horizontal and vertical lines and applies the fuzzy rule to obtain the best line pair which constitute peripheral framework of the screen. The proposed system improves the detection ratio for detecting the screen in relative to the detector used in the previous works for hand-held type vision based pointing device. Also it allows to detect the screen even though a small part of it may be hidden behind other object.
