  • We perform two kinds of computer simulations on polydisperse hard-sphere systems; a molecular-dynamics simulation on atomic systems and a Brownian-dynamics simulation on colloidal suspensions. Analyses of the mean square displacement, the radial distribution function, and the pressure suggest that there exist three phase regions, a liquid phase region, a metastable phase region, and a crystal phase region, where the freezing and melting points are shifted to the values higher than in monodisperse case. It is also shown that the long-time behavior of colloidal suspensions is exactly the same as that of atomic systems.

  • In this paper, a two-dimensional cross-channel model was applied to investigate influence of the gas diffusion layer(GDL) property and flow field geometry in the anode side for proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC). The GDL is made of a porous material such as carbon cloth, carbon paper, or metal wire mesh. To the simplicity, the GDL is represented as a block of material containing numerous pathways through which gaseous reactants and liquid water can pass. The purpose of present work was to study the effect of the GDL thickness and the porosity, and flow field geometry by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)

  • In this research paper a hydraulic valve meter for the measurement of water pressure in fields was designed by using three dimensional automatic design program CATIA. And, also computational fluid dynamics was applied to the designed hydraulic valve meter in order to obtain flow distributions due to internal pressures. This analytical results will be provided as fundamental data in the development of new concepts of hydraulic valve meter and the hydraulic valve meter in development may reduce valve checking times and improve safety by preventing accidents earlier.

  • Artificial heart is divided pulsation style and nonpulsation style greatly according to flowing of blood. nonpulsation pump is advantage of miniaturization avaliable because it is simple and non-volumic-pump than pulsation pump. Non pulsation pump is derided axial flow style and centrifugal style accordig to rotating style. An axial flow blood pump can be made smaller than a centrifugal blood pump because of its higher specific speed. A hemolysis is an important factor for the development of an axial flow blood pump. It is difficult to identify the areas where hemolysis nun. Evaluation of hemolysis both in in vitro and in vivo require a long time and are costly. Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analysis enables the engineer to predict hemolysis on a computer. The aims of this study is Computational fluid dynamics in the whole axial flow pump and to verify the accuracy of prediction results of CFD analysis compare with in vitro experimental results.

  • The analytical experiments for fluid dynamics lead a sequence of complex scientific computations composing of numerical equations and require enormous computing resources with appropriate management tools. Currently most studies on e-Science environment for numerical studies focus on solving specific problems to drag out the best performance of matters and have less interest in providing a common framework to apply for diverse numerical domains in engineering education, especially for fluid dynamics. This paper presents an integrated e-Science experiment tool which could be easily applicable to solve various numerical analyses in fluid dynamics. As a proof-of-concept, an integrated e-Science framework with three numerical analyses has been designed and implemented over UNICORE that runs over grid computing environment.

  • We have developed an information management tool for the EDISON (EDucation-research Integration through Simulation On the Net) open platform. EDISON is, at present, a web-based simulation service for education and research in five computational areas, namely, nanophysics, fluid dynamics, chemistry, structural dynamics, and computer aided optimal design. The EDISON open platform consists of three tiers: EDISON application framework, EDISON middleware, and EDISON infra-resources. The platform provides web portals for education and research in areas such as computational fluid dynamics, computational chemistry, computational nanophysics, computational structural dynamics, and computer aided optimal design along with user service. The main purpose of this research is to test the behavior of the release version of the EDISON Open-Platform under normal operating conditions. This management tool has been implemented using the RESTful API designed in EDISON middleware. The intention is to check co-operation between the middleware and the infrastructure. Suggested tools include User management, Simulation and Job management, and Simulation software (i.e., solver) testing. Finally, it is considered meaningful to develop a management tool that is not supported in other web-based online simulation services.

  • In this paper, we describe a case study of the film 'Sector 7' which was produced by technologies applied fluid simulation. For the CG scenes in the movie which include highly detailed fluid motions, we used smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) technique to express subtle movements of seawater from a crashed huge tank, and used hybrid simulation method of particles and levelsets to describe bursting water from a submarine's broken canopy. We also used detonation shock dynamics(DSD) technique for detailed flame simulations to produce a burning monster, the film"s main character. At this point, the divergence-free vortex particle method was applied to conserve the incompressible property of fluids. In addition, we used an upsampling method to achieve more efficient video production. Consequently, we could produce the high-quality visual effects by using the domestic technologies.

  • A Prototype Gen-IV Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor which is one of the $4^{th}$ generation nuclear reactors is in development by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. The reactor is composed of four main fluid systems which are categorized by its functions, i.e., Primary Heat Transport System, Intermediate Heat Transport System, Decay Heat Removal System and Sodium-Water Reaction Pressure Relief System. The coolant of the reactor is liquid sodium and sodium-to-sodium heat exchangers are installed at the interfaces between two fluid systems, Intermediate Heat Exchangers between the Primary Heat Transport System and the Intermediate Heat Transport System and Decay Heat Exchangers between the Primary Heat Transport System and the Decay Heat Removal System. For the design and performance analysis of the Intermediate Heat Exchanger and the Decay Heat Exchanger, a computer code was written during previous step of research. In this work, the computer code named "SHXSA" has been validated preliminarily by computational fluid dynamics simulations.

  • The fluid animation procedure consists of physical simulation and visual rendering. In the physical simulation of fluids, the most frequently used practices are the numerical simulation of fluid particles using particle dynamics equations and the continuum analysis of flow via Wavier-Stokes equation. Particle dynamics method is fast in calculation, but the resulting fluid motion is conditionally unrealistic The method using Wavier-Stokes equation, on the contrary, yields lifelike fluid motion when properly conditioned, yet the complexity of calculation restrains this method from being used in real-time applications. Global illumination is generally successful in producing premium-Duality rendered images, but is also excessively slow for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a rapid fluid animation method incorporating enhanced particle dynamics simulation method and pre-integrated volume rendering technique. The particle dynamics simulation of fluid flow was conducted in real-time using Lennard-Jones model, and the computation efficiency was enhanced such that a small number of particles can represent a significant volume. For real-time rendering, pre-integrated volume rendering method was used so that fewer slices than ever can construct seamless inter-laminar shades. The proposed method could successfully simulate and render the fluid motion in real time at an acceptable speed and visual quality.

  • In this study, computer applied engineering (CAE) techniques are full? used to conduct structural and dynamic analyses of a huge composite rotor blade. Computational fluid dynamics is used to predict aerodynamic load of the rotating wind-turbine blade model. Static and dynamic structural analyses are conducted based on the non-linear finite element method for composite laminates and multi-body dynamic simulation tools. Various numerical results for aerodynamic load, dynamic analyses are presented and characteristics of structural behaviors are investigated herein.
