  • We suggest the C2 modeling method to develop a simulation model for training command groups which consist of commanders and staffs. By using C2 models in constructive simulation models, combat entities or units directly receive and execute orders from a command group without mediating human role players. We also compare combat results from suggested modeling method with the results of existing models by building and implementing a simulation model with C2 models. Our analysis by comparison demonstrates advantages of suggested method to model C2 for computer assisted exercises.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) system, which is called POMY (POSTECH Immersive English Study). In our system, students can study English while talking to characters in a computer-generated virtual environment. POMY also supports haptic feedback, so students can study English in a more interesting manner. Haptic feedback is provided by two platforms, a haptic chair and a force-feedback device. The haptic chair, which is equipped with an array of vibrotactile actuators, delivers directional information to the student. The force-feedback device enables the student to feel the physical properties of an object. These haptic systems help the student better understand English conversations and focus on studying. We conducted a user experiment and its results showed that our haptic-enabled English study contributes to better learning of English.

  • This study has focused on the application of magnetic assisted polishing for ELID ground surface of aluminum oxide ceramics. Aluminum oxide ceramics has been widely used as advanced materials for electric, optic, mechanic, chemical usage and so on. In this study, ELID grinding and magnetic assisted polishing technology was adopted for high-effective manufacturing and high quality surface of ceramic parts. The characteristic of MAP machining have been evaluated by the value of surface roughness and surface profile before and after magnetic assisted polishing. As the results of experiments, the surface roughness after magnetic assisted polishing has shown a significant improvement and the surface roughness was more improved when the feed rate of tool became slow.

  • Recently, there is change the environment of education due to development of Science Technology Specially, As education information on web increased by internet, using education web data by mean of medium that aids learning by computer. Also It studied method that used the Computer as learning medium through the CAI(Computer Assisted Instruction), ICAI(Intelligent CAI), and ITS(Intelligent Tutoring System). But legacy system are not support efficient method that learns to vary learner suitable learning method by individual level. Specially It is not suitable the education course to direct current course of education, and not consider different of student capability, aptitude, need, interesting, not maximized the individual growable power and effect of education. To solve the this problem, our paper suggest the web-based self-directed MITS(Multimedia ITS) that supply the needed the information on web, make the environment that can self-directed learning. To maximized effect of individual learning, our paper structured coursed, characterized, related learning contents in region of numeral at mathematics of primary school. And then integrated contents and class, design and implement the web-based MITS that consist of 4 module to escape from limitation of learner grade, learning time, learning place.

  • This paper proposes a novel of a personalized Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) system based on learner's cognitive abilities related to foreign language proficiency. In this CALL system, a strategy of retrieval learning, a method of learning memory cycle, and a method of repeated learning are applied for effective vocabulary memorization. The system is designed to offer personalized learning based on cognitive abilities related to the human language process. For this, the proposed CALL system has a cognitive diagnosis module which can measure five types of cognitive abilities. The results of this diagnosis are used to create dynamic learning scenarios for personalized learning and to evaluate user performance in the learning. This system is also designed in order to have users be able to create learning word lists and to share them simply with various functions based on open APIs. Additionally, through experiments, it has shown that this system helps students to learn English vocabulary effectively and enhances their foreign language skills.

  • We demonstrated a solvent-assisted soft-lithographic patterning method for producing patterned structure and patterned ordering with lyotropic liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) film. Experimental results showed that the liquid crystalline ordering of lyotropic film could be controlled by shearing effects of the fluidic solvent though the patterned mold channels. In this work, two types of lyotropic LCPs were used to investigate the effects of the alkyl chain length of the lyotropic LCP on producing liquid crystalline ordering through the solvent-assisted fluidic patterning.

  • Since the use of computer-mediated communication(CMC) systems has been steadily increasing in the teaching and learning environments, this study attempted to describe some of instructional strategies which can be employed as a medium of cooperative learning. One of the best way to conduct network-assisted instruction is to embed such a medium into cooperative learning. Network-assisted cooperative learning maximizes students' own learning and each other's learning using CMC, in which students can actively participate in their learning processes. The characteristics of CMC-transmission and search of information, interactivity, time and place independence-assist and enhance cooperative learning. In this study, the instructional strategies for cooperative learning via CMC are suggested as following: (1) choose the instructional goals, (2) structure positive interdependence, (3) select guidelines for grouping, (4) train cooperative skills to students, (5) set up the environments such as electronic bulletin-board, and (6) develop assessment tools. Finally, this study suggests that potentials of network-assisted cooperative learning can be realized by providing environments and thinking tools for cooperative learning. Appropriate theory and practice need to be followed up to support the cooperative learning systems.

  • The usefulness and accuracy of computer-assisted surgery have been evaluated clinically in many orthopedic fields, such as, joint replacement arthroplasty, cruciate ligament reconstruction, and pedicle screw placemen. Recently several preliminary reports have been issued on the application of navigation to bone tumor surgery. The main advantage of navigation-assisted bone tumor surgery is that it provides highly accurate three-dimensional radiological information for intraoperative guidance. In particular, distances from tumors to resection margins can be precisely determined using intraoperative three-dimensional images. Accordingly, the technique allows preservation of function to be maximized by minimizing unnecessary resection. However, surgeons should recognize that the accuracies of navigation systems in bone tumor surgery have some hidden pitfalls. Here, based on our clinical results, we describe the surgical techniques used and include some cautionary notes.

  • The Computer-assisted Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point(HACCP) program has been developed for a systematic implementation of HACCP principles in identifying, assessing and controlling hazards in institutional foodservics operations. The HACCP-based sanitation evaluation tool has been developed, based on the results of the computerized assisted HACCP program in 4 service sites of C contracted foodservice company, including 2 general hospitals with 650-beds, one office operation of 400 meals per day, and one factory foodservice of 1,000 meals per day. All database files and processing programs were created by using Unify Vision tool with Windows 95 of user environments. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. This program consists of the pre-stage for HACCP study and the implementation stage of the HACCP system. 1) The pre-stage for HACCP study includes the selection of menu items, the development of the HACCP recipe, the construction of product flow diagrams, and printing the HACCP recipes and product flow diagrams. 2) The implementation of the HACCP system includes the identification of microbiological hazards, the determination of critical control points based on the decision tree base files. 3) The HACCP-based sanitation evaluation tool consisted of 3 dimensions of time-temperature relationship, personal hygiene, and equipment-facility sanitation. The Cronbach's alphas calculation indicated that the tool was reliable. The results showed that the focus groups rated the mean of importance in time-temperature relationship, personal hygiene, and equipment-facility sanitation as 4.57, 4.59 and 4.55 respectively. Based on the results, this HACCP-based sanitation evaluation tool was considered as an effective tool for assuring product quality. This program will assist foodservice managers to encourage a standardized approach in the HACCP study and to maintain a systematic approach for ensuring that the HACCP principles are applied correctly.
