링크인자 보정에 의한 로보트 위치 정밀도 개선 (Positioning Accuracy Improvement of Robots by Link Parameter Calibration)

  • The positioning accuracy of robots depends upon a forward kinematics which relates the joint variables to the orientation and position of the robot extremity in the absolute coordinate system. The relationship between two connective joint coordi- nates of a robot, which is the basis of the kinematics, is defined by 4 Denavit-Hartenberg parameters. But manufacturing errors in machining and assembly process of robots lead to disctrepancies between the design parameters and the physical structure. Thus, improving the positioning accuracy of robots reguires the identification of the actual link parameters of each robot. In this study, the least-squares method is used to calibrate the link parameters and off-line parameter calibration software is developed. Computer simulation is done to study the dependence of the calibration performance upon the DOF of the robot and number of acquired data set used in the least-squares method. 3 DOF Robot/Controller and specially designed 3D coordinate measurer is made and experiment is carried out to verify the theoretical and computational analysis.

Investigation of bonding properties of Al/Cu bimetallic laminates fabricated by the asymmetric roll bonding techniques

  • In this study, 2-mm Al/Cu bimetallic laminates were produced using asymmetric roll bonding (RB) process. The asymmetric RB process was carried out with thickness reduction ratios of 10%, 20% and 30% and mismatch rolling speeds 1:1, 1:1.1 and 1:1.2, separately. For various experimental conditions, finite element simulation was used to model the deformation of bimetallic Al/Cu laminates. Specific attention was focused on the bonding strength and bonding quality of the interface between Al and Cu layers in the simulation and experiment. The optimization of mismatch rolling speed ratios was obtained for the improvement of the bond strength of bimetallic laminates during the asymmetric RB process. During the finite element simulation, the plastic strain of samples was found to reach the maximum value with a high quality bond for the samples produced with mismatch rolling speed 1:1.2. Moreover, the peeling surfaces of samples around the interface of laminates after the peeling test were studied to investigate the bonding quality by scanning electron microscopy.

  • The friction drag reduction of a ship is of prime importance for the design and production of high-valued/high-tech ship. Thus, this study carried out the development of reliable numerical tools to identify the friction drag reduction mechanism for turbulent boundary layer on the ship surface and to deduce the optimum reduction technique by numerical experiment. The developed LES and DNS numerical tools were applied to simulate the turbulent channel flow These results were very well matched with previous results not only qualitatively but also quantitatively. The parallelization using MPI (Message Passing Interface) technique implemented in the developed code to speed up the simulation and to obtain the accurate results from the fine grid system was testified its computational efficiency.

  • This paper presents the system modeling, analysis, and controller design and implementation for a rotational inverted pendulum system(RIPS), which is an under-actuated system and has the problem of unattainable angular velocity state. A sliding mode controller using the parameterization of both the hyperplane and the compensator fur output feedback is applied to the RIPS. Also, to improve the performance of the control system, a disturbance observer which estimates the disturbance, parameter variation, and some modeling errors of RIPS with less computational effort is used together. The results of simulation and experiment show that the proposed control system has superior performance for disturbance rejection and regulation at certain initial conditions.

준비시간이 종속적인 n/M 스케쥴링 문제의 휴리스틱 알고리듬(I) (A Development of Heuristic Algorithms for the Multi-stage Manufacturing Systems with Sequence Dependent Setup Times)

  • This paper is concerned with a development and evaluation of heuristic algorithms for the n-job, M-stage flowshop with sequence dependent setup times. Three heuristic algorithms, CAIDAN, DANNEN and PETROV, are proposed. The makespan is taken as a performance measure for the algorithms. The experiment for each algorithm is designed for a $4{\times}3{\times}3$ factorial design with 360 observations. The experimental factors are PS (ratio of processing times to setup times), M (number of machines), and N (number of jobs). The makespan of the proposed heuristic algorithms is compared with the optimal makespan obtained by the complete enumeration method. The result of comparision of performance measure is called a relative error. The mean relative errors of CAIDAN, DANNEN and PETROV algorithms are 4.488%. 6.712% and 7.282%, respectively. The computational results are analysed using SPSS. The experimental results show that the three factors are statistically signiticant at 5% level.

  • The road sign in dynamic traffic system is an important element which affects on human cognitive performance on driving. Web-based vision system simulator was developed to examine the cognition time of the road sign in dynamic environment. This experiment was designed in within-subject design with two factors; vehicle speed and the amount of information of the traffic sign. It measured the cognition time of the road sign through two evaluation methods; the subjective test with vision system simulator and computational cognitive model. In these two evaluations of human cognitive performance under the dynamic traffic environment, it demonstrated that subject's cognition time was affected by both the amount of information of traffic sign and driving speed.

Numerical Study on the Air-Cushion Glass Transportation Unit for LCD Panels

  • Non-contact transportation system using air cushion for the manufacturing of large-sized LCD panels was considered. Flow characteristics between air pad and glass plate was analyzed using computational fluid dynamics method to obtain optimized air pad configurations. Effects of the design variables such as hole arrays from which gas is injected, gas-feeding method into the gas supplying channels, and horizontal and vertical pitches of clusters of holes were studied. Optimized air pad unit gave evenly distributed pressure contour on the glass surface and well-suspended levitation height in the experiment.

  • Thermal energy control is a important factor to control properties of large sized product in ingot-forging. Good control of thermal energy helps to increase characteristics and eliminate defects of large cast-forged part, such as large sized forged shell. We have studied about not only large size ring forging process and after heat treatment process by FEM simulation. Changes of temperature and microstructure for forged shell were predicted according to different heat treatment conditions. Therefore, we can choose the proper heat treatment condition by FEA. The sectional properties confirmed by practical experiment and evaluation have presented possibilities of process design by computational analysis.

원심형 송풍기에 있어서 전향익과 후향익의 특성 차이에 관한 연구 (Study on Difference of Characteristics between Backward and Forward Blades in Centrifugal Blower)

  • Centrifugal blowers are widely used for air handling units in industry applications. The blower has a centrifugal impeller and a scroll casing including a driving component such as an electric motor. The impeller takes forward or backward blades to induce flows into the blower. Comprehensive investigation according to the two kinds of blades is systematically carried out for a guidance of design. It is observed that flow rate of the blower with forward blades is larger than that of the system with backward blades. The reason is due to larger velocity from the rotating forward blades and the tendency is validated by a parallel experiment with a wind tunnel. Numerical analysis for the system shows detail information inside the blades and the casing. A series of figures to show the flow details offers deep understanding of a centrifugal blower with different blades.
