  • The collective intelligence is a common-based production by the collaboration and competition of many peer individuals. In other words, it is the aggregation of individual intelligence to lead the wisdom of crowd. Recently, the utilization of the collective intelligence has become one of the emerging research areas, since it has been adopted as an important principle of web 2.0 to aim openness, sharing and participation. This paper introduces an approach to seek the collective intelligence by cognition of the relation and interaction among individual participants. It describes a methodology well-suited to evaluate individual intelligence in information retrieval and classification as an application field. The research investigates how to derive and represent such cognitive intelligence from individuals through the application of fuzzy relational theory to personal construct theory and knowledge grid technique. Crucial to this research is to implement formally and process interpretatively the cognitive knowledge of participants who makes the mutual relation and social interaction. What is needed is a technique to analyze cognitive intelligence structure in the form of Hasse diagram, which is an instantiation of this perceptive intelligence of human beings. The search for the collective intelligence requires a theory of similarity to deal with underlying problems; clustering of social subgroups of individuals through identification of individual intelligence and commonality among intelligence and then elicitation of collective intelligence to aggregate the congruence or sharing of all the participants of the entire group. Unlike standard approaches to similarity based on statistical techniques, the method presented employs a theory of fuzzy relational products with the related computational procedures to cover issues of similarity and dissimilarity.

  • Mobile network environments are the environments where mobile devices are distributed invisible in our daily lives so that we can conventionally use mobile services at my time and place. The fact that we can work with mobile devices regardless of time and place, however, means that we are also in security threat of leaking or forging the information. In particular, without solving privacy concern, the mobile network environments which serve convenience to use, harmonized without daily lives, on the contrary, will cause a serious malfunction of establishing mobile network surveillance infrastructure. On the other hand, as the mobile devices with various sizes and figures, public key cryptography techniques requiring heavy computation are difficult to be applied to the computational constrained mobile devices. In this paper, we propose efficient PKI-based user authentication and java-based cryptography module for the privacy-preserving in mobile network environments. Proposed system is support a authentication and digital signature to minimize encrypting and decrypting operation by compounding session key and public key based on Korean standard cryptography algorithm(SEED, KCDSA, HAS160) and certificate in mobile network environment. Also, it has been found that session key distribution and user authentication is safety done on PDA.

  • This study conducted comparative analysis to estimate critical velocity in tunnel fire under variation of grid number and the location and size of the fire source using three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics. In the target tunnel, by one-dimensional way, the calculated critical velocity in the tunnel, 2.22 m/s was estimated, if appling hydraulic diameter, instead of the tunnel height. According to six numerical analysis, each grid number has different position, temperature, and CO concentration of back-layering. In the case of the subject, the case 1 with 0.84 million grid was found to be the most ideal. According to the location and size of the fire source, after three cases for three-dimensional numerical analysis was performed, it is resulted that the location and size of the fire source affect the critical velocity, because air velocity distribution, temperature distribution and CO concentration distribution showed different each case. This is due to the difference of heat exchange area and locations. Therefore, it is necessary to decide appropriate grid number, and the location and size of the fire source for processing techniques through comparison with actual experiment results and three-dimensional analysis.

  • The paper addresses contribution to the modeling and optimization of major machinability parameters (cutting force, surface roughness, and tool wear) in finish dry hard turning (FDHT) for machinability evaluation of hardened AISI grade die steel D3 with PVD-TiN coated (Al2O3-TiCN) mixed ceramic tool insert. The turning trials are performed based on Taguchi's L18 orthogonal array design of experiments for the development of regression model as well as adequate model prediction by considering tool approach angle, nose radius, cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut as major machining parameters. The models or correlations are developed by employing multiple regression analysis (MRA). In addition, statistical technique (response surface methodology) followed by computational approaches (genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization) have been employed for multiple response optimization. Thereafter, the effectiveness of proposed three (RSM, GA, PSO) optimization techniques are evaluated by confirmation test and subsequently the best optimization results have been used for estimation of energy consumption which includes savings of carbon footprint towards green machining and for tool life estimation followed by cost analysis to justify the economic feasibility of PVD-TiN coated Al2O3+TiCN mixed ceramic tool in FDHT operation. Finally, estimation of energy savings, economic analysis, and sustainability assessment are performed by employing carbon footprint analysis, Gilbert approach, and Pugh matrix, respectively. Novelty aspects, the present work: (i) contributes to practical industrial application of finish hard turning for the shaft and die makers to select the optimum cutting conditions in a range of hardness of 45-60 HRC, (ii) demonstrates the replacement of expensive, time-consuming conventional cylindrical grinding process and proposes the alternative of costlier CBN tool by utilizing ceramic tool in hard turning processes considering technological, economical and ecological aspects, which are helpful and efficient from industrial point of view, (iii) provides environment friendliness, cleaner production for machining of hardened steels, (iv) helps to improve the desirable machinability characteristics, and (v) serves as a knowledge for the development of a common language for sustainable manufacturing in both research field and industrial practice.

  • A novel method of adaptive beam forming is presented in this paper. The proposed technique provides for a suboptimal beam pattern that increases the Signal to Noise/Interference Ratio (SNR/SIR), thus, eventually increases the capacity of the communication channel, under an assumption that the desired signal is dominant compared to each component of interferences at the receiver, which is precoditionally achieved in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile communications by the chip correlator. The main advantages of the new technique are:(1)The procedure requires neither reference signals nor training period, (2)The signal interchoerency does not affect the performance or complexity of the entire procedure, (3)The number of antennas does not have to be greater than that of the signals of distinct arrival angles, (4)The entire procedure is iterative such that a new suboptimal beam pattern be generated upon the arrival of each new data of which the arrival angle keeps changing due tot he mobility of the signal source, (5)The total amount of computation is tremendously reduced compared to that of most conventional beam forming techniques such that the suboptimal beam pattern be produced at vevery snapshot on a real-time basis. The total computational load for generating a new set of weitht including the update of an N-by-N(N is the number of antenna elements) autocovariance matrix is $0(3N^2 + 12N)$. It can further be reduced down to O(11N) by approximating the matrix with the instantaneous signal vector.

  • Seabed multiple reflections (seabed multiples) are the main cause of misinterpretations of primary reflections in both shot gathers and stack sections. Accordingly, seabed multiples need to be suppressed throughout data processing. Conventional model-driven methods, such as prediction-error deconvolution, Radon filtering, and data-driven methods, such as the surface-related multiple elimination technique, have been used to attenuate multiple reflections. However, the vast majority of processing workflows require time-consuming steps when testing and selecting the processing parameters in addition to computational power and skilled data-processing techniques. To attenuate seabed multiples in seismic reflection data, input gathers with seabed multiples and label gathers without seabed multiples were generated via numerical modeling using the Marmousi2 velocity structure. The training data consisted of normal-moveout-corrected common midpoint gathers fed into a U-Net neural network. The well-trained model was found to effectively attenuate the seabed multiples according to the image similarity between the prediction result and the target data, and demonstrated good applicability to field data.

  • A recommender system for E-commerce site receives information from customers about which products they are interested in, and recommends products that are likely to fit their needs. In this paper, we investigate several methods for large-scale product purchase data for the purpose of producing useful recommendations to customers. We apply the traditional data mining techniques of cluster analysis and collaborative filtering(CF), and CF with reduction of product-dimensionality by use of latent semantic indexing(LSI). If reduced product-dimensionality obtained from LSI shows a similar latent trend of customers for buying products to that based on original customer-product purchase data, we expect less computational effort for obtaining the nearest-neighbor for target customer may improve the efficiency of recommendation performance. From simulation experiments on synthetic customer-product purchase data, CF-based method with reduction of product-dimensionality presents a better performance than the traditional CF methods with respect to the recall, precision and F1 measure. In general, the recommendation quality increases as the size of the neighborhood increases. However, our simulation results shows that, after a certain point, the improvement gain diminish. Also we find, as a number of products of recommendation increases, the precision becomes worse, but the improvement gain of recall is relatively small after a certain point. We consider these informations may be useful in applying recommender system.

  • This paper presents a numerical study on the rotordynamic analysis of a dual-spool turbofan engine in the context of blade defect events. The blades of an axial-type aeroengine are typically well aligned during the compressor and turbine stages. However, they are sometimes exposed to damage, partially or entirely, for several operational reasons, such as cracks due to foreign objects, burns from the combustion gas, and corrosion due to oxygen in the air. Herein, we designed a dual-spool rotor using the commercial 3D modeling software CATIA to simulate blade defects in the turbofan engine. We utilized the rotordynamic parameters to create two finite element Euler-Bernoulli beam models connected by means of an inter-rotor bearing. We then applied the unbalanced forces induced by the mass eccentricities of the blades to the following selected scenarios: 1) fully balanced, 2) crack in the low-pressure compressor (LPC) and high pressure compressor (HPC), 3) burn on the high-pressure turbine (HPT) and low pressure compressor, 4) corrosion of the LPC, and 5) corrosion of the HPC. Additionally, we obtained the transient and steady-state responses of the overall rotor nodes using the Runge-Kutta numerical integration method, and employed model reduction techniques such as component mode synthesis to enhance the computational efficiency of the process. The simulation results indicate that the high-vibration status of the rotor commences beyond 10,000 rpm, which is identified as the first critical speed of the lower speed rotor. Moreover, we monitored the unbalanced stages near the inter-rotor bearing, which prominently influences the overall rotordynamic status, and the corrosion of the HPC to prevent further instability. The high-speed range operation (>13,000 rpm) coupled with HPC/HPT blade defects possibly presents a rotor-case contact problem that can lead to catastrophic failure.

  • Because the cavitation flow driven by an underwater propeller corrodes the materials around it and generates a high level of noise, it has become an important topic in engineering research. In this study, computational fluid dynamics techniques are applied to simulate cavitation flow, and the noise in the flow is predicted by applying the acoustic analogy to the predicted flow. The predicted results are compared with measurement results and other predictions in terms of surface pressure distribution and the temporal variation in liquid volume fraction. The predicted results are found to be in good agreement with the measured results. The source of the noise attributed to the time rate of change in the liquid volume fraction around the hydrofoil is modeled as a monopole source, and the source of the noise due to unsteady pressure perturbations on the hydrofoil surface is modeled as a dipole source. Then the predicted noise results are analyzed in terms of directivity and SPL spectrum. The noise caused by unsteady pressure perturbations was dominant in the entire frequency range considered in the study.

  • Typically, vision-based AR systems operate on the basis of prior knowledge of the environment such as a square marker. The traditional marker-based AR system has a limitation that the marker has to be located in the sensing range. Therefore, there have been considerable research efforts for the techniques known as real-time camera tracking, in which the system attempts to add unknown 3D features to its feature map, and these then provide registration even when the reference map is out of the sensing range. In this paper, we describe a real-time camera tracking framework specifically designed to track a monocular camera in a desktop workspace. Basic idea of the proposed scheme is that a real-time camera tracking is achieved on the basis of a plane tracking algorithm. Also we suggest a method for re-detecting features to maintain registration of virtual objects. The proposed method can cope with the problem that the features cannot be tracked, when they go out of the sensing range. The main advantage of the proposed system are not only low computational cost but also convenient. It can be applicable to an augmented reality system for mobile computing environment.
