음식폐기물 퇴비화에서 유효 미생물 분리 및 첨가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Composting Process of Food Waste by Seeding the Isolated Effective Microorganism)

  • Although microorganisms play an important role in composting process, researches on the effective microorganism (EM) in composting process are rarely reported. In this study, three stages of work performed 1) investigation of composting facility 2) sample collection and isolation of the EM 3) lab-scale composting by seeding the isolated EM. For this, purpose, physical, chemical, and biological characteristics, such as temperature, moisture content, organic matter, pH population of microorganism, etc., were investigated during the process and the results were compared with those of a control(non-seeded). In the composting facility, the most active degradation of food waste was suppsed to occur in 10-11th day of composting by observing the temperature and CO2 emission. The population of bacterial and fungi was highest in thermophilic stage. Meanwhile that of actinomycetes and yeast was relatively uniform during the process. In the lab-scale test, the thermophilic stage was maintained longer(more than 9 days in 17 days of experiment) in the seeded which was favored for the high reduction of organic matter and moisture. Reduction rates of lipids and salinity were also increased in the seeded. It confirmed these results that the population of microorganisms in the seeded was observed higher in several orders than the control. However, pH of the seeded was maintained as low as about 4.5 throughout the experiment except the final period of the process. Meanwhile, pH of the control rose in the early stage of the experiment. This was probably due that the seeded microorganisms collected from the composting facility was adapted to the low pH environment.

  • The composting practice has been recognized as the most popular way of controlling food waste and many attempt have been made in the field to establish more efficient and economical process. Some of the efforts are mixing cured compost with sawdust as alternative bulking agent, seeding commercially produced microorganism and/or combination of above. However, verification of such efforts is often restricted because of either the lack of engineering consideration on the limitation of composting facility scales. In this study, the effect of mixing materials in food waste composting was investigated by controlling the combination and the mixing ratio of them. When the cured compost was mixed with saw dust. the decomposition of organic material was proven to be more active by observing the compost temperature, the oxygen (O$_2$) consumption, and the cumulative carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) profile. However, the quantity of compost mix-ing seemed not to influence the reaction as long as the minimum required amount was mixed. The feeding of com-mercially produced microorganism had a tendency to prolong the thermophilic stage, which helped to increase the decomposition but it resulted in composting period. Regardless of the composting condition, bacteria and actinomycetes increased in population as the reaction approached to the end. The population of bacteria and actinomycetes were rel-atively higher than those of fungi and yeast throughout the reaction.

미생물 첨가에 의한 소규모 정체식 퇴비화 (Composting of Small Scale Static Pile by addition of Microorganism)

  • 본 연구는 소규모의 축사에서 발생하는 축분을 합리적으로 처리하기 위해 소규모 정체식 퇴비화의 적용 가능성을 검토하였다. 이 때 미생물을 첨가하여 퇴비화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 처리구는 무처리의 대조구, 일반 Bacteria와 Lactobacillus을 처리한 BL구, BL구에 Photo.를 첨가한 BLP구 등 3개를 두었으며, 별도의 퇴비화 장치 없이 퇴적시킨 후 간헐적인 뒤집기를 실시하였다. 원료의 수분함량은 60% 정도였으며, 우분, 왕겨, 톱밥이 혼합되었다. 퇴비화 과정 중 온도는 3일 이내에 $60^{\circ}C$이상 상승하였으며, BLP와 BL구에서 Control구에 비해 초기 온도상승에 우세하였다. 원료의 초기 pH가 높아 퇴비화 과정중 pH 변화는 모든 처리구에서 크지 않았으며, 약알카리성에 머물렀다. EC는 뇨와 분의 계속적인 배출로 축적되어 초기에 높은 값을 보였으며, 퇴비화 과정중 5~10%의 상승을 보였다. C/N율의 감소는 BLP구에서 가장 높은 22.7%를 보였으며, BL과 Control구에서는 각각 19.2와 17.5%의 감소를 보였다. 식물독성평가에서는 BLP가 가장 짧은 시간에 안정되었으며, BL구와 Control구의 차이는 없었다. 소규모 축사농가에서 발생하는 축분의 처리는 적절한 뒤집기와 수분함량을 갖춘 소규모 정체식 퇴비화에 의해 가능하며, 미생물의 첨가는 초기 온도상승과 식물독성물질의 감소에 긍정적이었으나, 부숙도에 큰 영향은 미치지 못하였다.

공단 폐수 슬러지의 퇴비화 최적조건 (Study on Optimum Conditions for the Composting of Industrial Wastewater Sludge)

  • To study the optimum conditions of composting with industrial wastewater sludge, the variations of temperature and $CO_2$ generation amount during the composting periods were investigated. The conditions were that industrial wastewater added to bulking agents such as sawdust and rice hull was used, and differently treated with microorganism seeding or not, initial C/N ratios, air flow rate and initial moisture contents, respectively. The results were summarized as follows : Seeding 5% of microorganism was higher the temperature than not seeding. And using sawdust as bulking agents, and adjusting 30~40 of Initial C/N ratio, 200ml/l.min. of k flow rate and 67~68% moisture contents were higher the temperature than any other conditions. Seeding 5% of microorganisms was higher $CO_2$ generation amount than not seeding. And that was much in the order of 7~40, 30~34 and 22~23 of initial C/N ratio. Judging from the results, it should be considered that the optimum conditions in the composting of industrial wastewater sludge were seeding of 5% microorganisms, and adjusting 30~34 of Initial C/N ratio, 200ml/l min. of air flow rate and 67~68% of Intitial moisture contents. The contents of inorganic matters and C/N ratio during the composting periods at optimum condition were a little Increased. and heavy metals contents after composting were lower than standard for fortllizer.

하수슬러지의 퇴비화과정 중 이화학성 및 미생물상 변동 (Changes of the Physico-Chemical and Microbiological Properties during Composting for Composting of Sewage Sludge)

  • 하수슬러지를 퇴비화하여 농지이용가능성을 조사하기 위하여 하수슬러지에 수분조절제로 톱밥 또는 왕겨를 처리하여 퇴비화과정중 무기성분변화, 유기물 및 질소의 형태변화, 미생물종 및 개체수의 변화 등의 물질변화를 조사하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 퇴비화과정중 온도 및 $CO_2$발생량은 퇴비화 2일에 최고에 달하였으며 그후 감소하였다. C/N율은 퇴비화가 진행됨에 따라 약간 증가하는 경향이었고, pH는 퇴비화 1일까지는 큰 변화가 없었으나, 그후 2일까지 급격히 증가하였으며 그후부터는 pH 약 8.4${\sim}$8.6 범위를 유지하였다. 퇴비화과정중 $P_2O,\;K_2O$, CaO, MgO 및 Fe함량 약간 증가하였으나,$SO_4$ 및 Mn은 퇴비화 초기에 비하여 후기에 각각 약 253${\sim}$331% 및 191${\sim}$208% 큰 폭으로 증가되었다. 퇴비화과정중 ether추출물질, 수용성 polysaccharides, hemicellulose 및 cellulose는 감소하였고, resins 및 lignin은 큰 변화가 없었다. 퇴비화과정중 총질소 및 유기태질소는 각각 약 15${\sim}$20% 및 22${\sim}$35% 감소하였으며, 무기태질소는 약 75${\sim}$166% 증가하였다. 퇴비화과정중 미생물 수는 미생물종 및 퇴비화기간에 따라 변화가 심하였다.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of physical characteristics. Twelve specific odorous compounds and various sources of bacteria were tested via treatment of food waste using an ultra-thermophilic aerobic composting process. Food waste was mixed with seed material and operated for 47 days. During composting, the temperature was maintained at $80-90^{\circ}C$. The variations in $O_2$, $CO_2$ and $NH_3$ production suggested typical microorganism-driven organic decomposition patterns. After composting, the concentrations of 12 specific odorous compounds other than ammonia did not exceed the allowable exhaust limits for odor. After composting, thermophiles represented 50% of all bacteria. After composting, the percentage of thermophile bacterial increased by 15%. Therefore, both stable composting operation and economic benefit can be expected when an ultra-thermophilic composting process is applied to food waste.

임목폐기물의 현장 재활용을 위한 퇴비화기술 (The Composting Techniques for On-site Recycling of Wood Waste)

  • The main purpose of this study is as follows : Finding a solution for fresh wood chips to be used as an alternative growing-media through a study of the formation method of a compost base that is applicable on both construction site and composting factory to ferment fresh wood chips produced from construction site as well as a study on adjuvant or secondary materials. The result from the experiment plot using wood chips sized 50mm or less, manure and fertilizer mixed manure as a source of nitrogen to compost fresh wood chips has shown that the temperatures 9days and 3days after the beginning of the experiment reached to $49.0^{\circ}C$ and $40.4^{\circ}C$ respectively, the heating duration was 7days and 4days respectively, and the C/N ratio was 26.5 and 25.3, each satisfying the standard for composted manure (25.0~40.0). Also, the other result from another experiment plot using mixture of sandy soil and microorganism as an inoculation source of microorganism has shown that the temperature 10days after the beginning of the experiment reached to $67.6^{\circ}C$ and lasted 16days. The experiment plot using sandy soil has shown the highest figure of $5.3{\sim}108$ CFU/g in terms of number of microorganism. The result from the experiment plots for on-site composting of fresh wood chips have shown that the experiment plot that used sandy soil with fertilizer due to supply restriction of manure as a nitrogen source in construction site reached the high temperature of $54.7^{\circ}C$ after 3days of experiment beginning and maintained heating state for 17days and reached 30.6 of C/N ratio, satisfying the standard for composted manure.

소규모 퇴비화 장치에서 초기 함수율의 영향 및 분리 균주의 활성도 평가 (Evaluation of Initial Moisture Content Effect and Microorganisms Activity in Small-scale Composting Equipment)

  • 높은 수분으로 인해 매립 또는 소각에 의한 처분이 부적절한 음식물 쓰레기를 퇴비화하여 자원 재순환형으로 사용할 경우, 자원, 환경, 농업문제에 이르기까지 다각적으로 많은 이점을 가져다 준다. 본 연구의 목적은 소규모 퇴비화 장치를 이용하여 초기 함수율을 달리하였을 때 음식물 쓰레기의 퇴비화 과정을 평가하고 미생물 첨가제를 개발하여 활성도를 평가함으로써 소규모 퇴비화 장치의 최적 운전 조건을 도출하는 것이다. 음식물 쓰레기의 무게 감량은 75~85%로써 대부분 수분의 증발에 기인하는 것으로 나타났으며, 초기 함수율을 25%, 45%, 60%로 달리하였을 때 건조상의 C/N비는 15.4, 14, 12.9로 퇴비 판정 기준에 부합하였다. 기존에 사용되던 상업용 균주에 대체할 수 있는 균주를 개발하여 활성도를 평가한 경우, 개발 균주인 PNU2가 $CO_2$농도 기준으로 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 화학적 분석에 의한 최종 완숙 단계를 결정하기에는 다소 미흡하였다.

미생물에 의한 축산 폐기물 퇴비화에 미치는 영향 (Effect on Livestock Manure Composting by the Enriched Microbial Population)

  • 여러 종류의 호열성, 호기성 간균(Bacillus genus)군, 중금속 leaching 미생물군(Thiobacillus, T. ferooxidans), 그리고 여러 가지 난분해성 물질을 분해하는 미생물군 (Pseudomonas genus)을 활용하여 퇴비화의 조건을 연구하고 이를 이용하여 축산폐기물의 퇴비화에 미치는 효과를 연구하였다. 35∼40의 C/N비, 50∼65%의 함수율 범위에서 실험실용 회전드럼형 반응조에서의 퇴비화는 온도상승이 수동식 반응조보다 낮으며 느리게 일어났다. 퇴비화 후 성분분석에서 높은 수준의 광물질을 함유하는 것으로 화학비료 대체효과를 보여주며 퇴비화 전후 중금속 분석에서 As는 모든 퇴비에서, Cr은 돈분, ph은 축분, Hg은 계분, 그리고 Cu는 축분퇴비에서 규제값 이하를 보여주었다. 여러 가지 부숙도 분석에서 퇴비의 숙성도를 나타내었다. SS 또는 EMB agar plate을 이용한 살모넬라균과 대장균의 검사에서 병원균에 대한 퇴비의 안전성이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 금속 및 다른 난분해성 물질을 생분해하는 미생물을 투입하여 퇴비의 중금속감소와 퇴비화 속도증가의 가능성을 시사한다.

전업양축농가의 축분뇨처리시스템 개발을 위한 모형실험 (A Model Study on Development of Animal Wastes Treatment System for a Full-time Farm Household Raising Livestock)

  • A sundry system is one of popular systems for composting livestock manure, of which main honest is to utilize unlimited, clean, and free solar radiation. A sundry system with a composter of two horizontal screw-type concrete ducts at different height, was constructed and operated for three days for each test in May, 1993, to evaluate its composting performance. Four treatments of the mixture ratio of swine manure and saw dust (manure : sawdust= 1 : 1.25, 1 : 1, 1 : 0.7, 1 : 0.5) were implemented to evaluate the effect of the mixture ratio on degradation of the composting materials of a sundry system with a screw-type composter. Maximum temperature of the composting materials was over 5$0^{\circ}C$ at D1 or D2 (one or two days after operation starts) for each test. Mean C/N ratio and water contents of the materials were reduced by more than 15 and 20%, respectively. Microbial density of each test showed a typical variation with the lapse of the composting time. Mesophilic microorganism seemed to play more important role on degradation of the materials than thermophilic. A sundry system with a screw-type composter can be considered as a feasible system on basis of maturity data. The conclusion was completely reverse from that of Choi et at., although both adopted a sundry system. A further study is recommended to pursue the cause of better performance of the screw-type composter, whether it was due to affirmative weather or more efficient composter.
