  • Vibration analysis for some of simple supported antisymmetric composite laminated plate loaded uniformly distributed axial force and attached mass was carried out. Because it is complicated to analysis this type of plate by theory of antisymmetric laminate, possibility for application of theory of special orthotropic laminate was studied, and natural frequency of laminated plate attached mass was calculated. Stiffness $B_{16}$, $B_{26}$, $D_{16}$, $D_{26}$ for this type of antisymmetric laminated plate converge on zero as the number of ply increases and it is possible to use classical theory by reason that considered plate has quasi-homogeneity without relevance to variation of angle. Difference between results by theory of antisymmetric and special orthotropic laminate is 0.36~1.96%, therefore it is convenient to analyze this by use of theory of special orthotropic laminate. When composite laminated plate with attached mass is analyzed range that was able to neglect self-weight of plate was proposed.

  • In the present paper, a simple refined nth-higher-order shear deformation theory is applied for the free vibration analysis of laminated composite plates. The proposed displacement field is based on a novel kinematic in which include the undetermined integral terms and contains only four unknowns, as against five or more in case of other higher-order theories. The present theory accounts for adequate distribution of the transverse shear strains through the plate thickness and satisfies the shear stress-free boundary conditions on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate, therefore, it does not require problem dependent shear correction factor. The governing equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle and solved via Navier-type to obtain closed form solutions. The numerical results of non-dimensional natural frequencies obtained by using the present theory are presented and compared with those of other theories available in the literature to verify the validity of present solutions. It can be concluded that the present refined theory is accurate and efficient in predicting the natural frequencies of isotropic, orthotropic and laminated composite plates.

  • In this paper, an exact analytical solution is developed for the analysis of the post-buckling non-linear response of simply supported deformable symmetric composite beams. For this, a new theory of higher order shear deformation is used for the analysis of composite beams in post-buckling. Unlike any other shear deformation beam theories, the number of functions unknown in the present theory is only two as the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, while three unknowns are needed in the case of the other beam theories. The theory presents a parabolic distribution of transverse shear stresses, which satisfies the nullity conditions on both sides of the beam without a shear correction factor. The shear effect has a significant contribution to buckling and post-buckling behaviour. The results of this analysis show that classical and first-order theories underestimate the amplitude of the buckling whereas all the theories considered in this study give results very close to the static response of post-buckling. The numerical results obtained with the novel theory are not only much more accurate than those obtained using the Euler-Bernoulli theory but are almost comparable to those obtained using higher order theories, Accuracy and effectiveness of the current theory.

  • An enhanced first shear deformation theory for composite plate is developed. The detailed process is as follows. Firstly, the theory is formulated by modifying higher order zigzag theory. That is, the higher order theory is separated into the warping function representing the higher order terms and lower order terms. Secondly, the relationships between higher order zig-zag field and averaged first shear deformation field based on the Reissner-Mindlin's plate theory are derived. Lastly, the effective shear modulus is calculated by minimizing error between higher order energy and first order energy. Then the governing equation of FSDT is solved by substituting shear modulus into effective shear modulus. The recovery processing with the nodal unknown obtained from governing equation is performed. The accuracy of the present proposed theory is demonstrated through numerical examples. The proposed method will serve as a powerful tool in the prediction of laminated composite plate.

  • Taking a subway shield tunnel in a certain section of Zhengzhou Metro Line 5 as an example, the field tests of shield cutting cement-soil monopile composite foundation were carried out. The load and internal force of the tunnel lining under the action of composite foundation were tested on-site and the distribution characteristics and variation laws of earth pressure around the tunnel under the load holding state of the composite foundation were analyzed. Five different load combinations (i.e., overburden load theory + q0, Terzaghi's theory + q0, Bierbaumer's theory + q0, Xie's theory + q0, and the proposed method (the combination of compound weight method and Terzaghi's theory) + q0) were used to calculate the internal force of the tunnel structure and the obtained results were compared with the measured internal force results. The action mode of earth pressure on the tunnel lining structure was evaluated. Research results show that the earth pressure obtained by the calculation method proposed in this paper was more consistent with the measured value and the deviation between the two was within 5%. The distribution of the calculated internal force of the tunnel structure was more in line with the distribution law of field test data and the deviation between the calculated and measured values was small. This effectively verified the rationality and applicability of the proposed calculation method. Research results provided references for the design and evaluation of shield tunnels under the action of composite foundations.

  • Currently the technique of composite material field is developed day by day. The many kinds industrial facility and life articles are coming to make with the composite material. But still the engineering works field the building and the bridge uses the material which is old era and is making. To here there is a various problem but the biggest problem the theory of the composite material is complicated too and means that the application is been delayed about constructive structure. When the composite material is used widely from constructive field, too with difficult theory in technical expert and easily with the research for the experiment data accumulation is necessary. The tensile and fatigue test of the carbon/epoxy which is a high-class composite material led from the present paper consequently and the change of the intensity coefficient which follows in repeated load researched.

  • Bending and vibration results for a laminated plate base on a simplified higher-order plate theory with four variables are presented. Assuming a constant in-plane rotation tensor through the thickness in Reddy's higher-order shear deformation theory it is shown that a simpler higher-order theory can be obtained with the reduction of one variable without significant loss in the accuracy. This simple higher-order shear deformation theory is then used for predicting the natural frequencies and deflection of simply-supported laminated composite plates. The results obtained for antisymmetrical laminated composite plates compare favorably with third-order and first-order shear deformation theory. The information presented should be useful to composite-structure designers, to researchers seeking to obtain better correlation between theory and experiment and to numerical analysts in checking out their programs.

  • Theoretical efforts are performed to extend the formulation of NSLT(New Shear Lag Theory) for the prediction of the elastic modulus in short fiber composite. The formulation is based on the elastic stress transfer considering the stress concentration effects influenced by elastic modulus ratio between fiber and matrix. The composite modulus, thus far, is calculated by changing the fiber aspect ratio and volume fraction. It is found that the comparison with FEA(Finite Element Analysis) results gives a good agreement with the present theory (NSLT). It is also found that the NSLT is more accurate than the SLT(Shear Lag Theory) in short fiber regime when compared by FEA results. However, The modulus predicted by NSLT becomes similar values that of SLT when the fiber aspect ratio increases. Finally, It is shown that the present model has the capability to predict the composite modulus correctly in elastic regime.

  • In the first-order shear deformation laminated beam theory (FSDT), the Kirchhoff hypothesis is relaxed such that the transverse normals do not remain perpendicular to the midsurface after deformation. Bending behavior of laminated composite thin-walled beams with singly- and doubly-symmetric open sections under uniformly distributed and concentrated loads is analyzed by the Timoshenko-type thin-walled beam theory. A closed-form expression for the shear correction factor of I-shaped composite laminated section is obtained. Numerical examples are presented to compare present analytical solutions by FSDT with the finite element solutions obtained by using three dimensional model. The effects of lamination of scheme and length-to-height ratio on the shear deformation of laminated composite beams with various boundary conditions are studied.
