  • In this paper, we propose component modeling method using object-oriented design information. it will be supplied to simplify and specify the relationship between informations that to be developed technology based on clustering, encapsulation and inheritance concepts. Also, we propose abstraction method, it will be support to understanding information relation, and it can modeling on system level without particular domain through dividing common service by reuse unit. Thus It is possible reusability and scalability by this concept, and shorten development period and enhance quality.

  • A common task in assembly modeling is the determination of the position and orientation of a set of components by solving the spatial relationships between them. Assembly models could be constructed at various levels of abstraction. They could be classified into component or geometry-level assembly models. The geometry-level assembly design approach using mating constraints such as against and fits is widely used in the commercial modelers, but it may be very tedious in some cases fur designer. In this paper, we propose a new method to construct an assembly model at the component-level by extracting joint mating features from the kinematics constraints specified between components. The assembly model constructed using the proposed method includes hierarchical and relational assembly models, component/sub-assembly positions and degrees of freedom information. The proposed method is more intuitive and natural way of assembly design and it guarantees the topological robustness of assembly modification such as component replacement and modification.

  • Modeling of fighter pilots, which is a fundamental technology for war games using defense M&S (Modeling & Simulation) becomes one of the prominent research issues as the importance of defense M&S increases. Especially, the recent accumulation of combat logs makes it possible to adopt statistical learning methods to pilot modeling, and an HMM (Hidden Markov Model) which is able to utilize the sequential characteristic of combat logs is suitable for the modeling. However, since an HMM works only by using one type of features, discrete or continuous, to apply an HMM to heterogeneous features, type integration is required. Therefore, we propose a dPCA-HMM method, where dPCA (Discrete Principal Component Analysis) is combined with an HMM for the type integration. From experiments conducted on combat logs acquired from a simulator furnished by agency for defense development, the performance of the proposed model is evaluated and was satisfactory.

  • We introduced an approach of modeling of a sound absorbing medium that had different absorbing coefficient according to frequency. To obtain the time domain result of the frequency characteristics of a sound absorbing medium, transmission line matrix modeling was used. To input sound absorbing effect in TLM modeling, we added a FIR filter at a node instead of absorbing component using resistance component. There were simulated the characteristics of time-shift, low pass filter, high pass filter using the FIR filter with 7-tap coefficients, then compared with theoretical results. From various simulation results, we could find that added FIR filter coefficient in TLM modeling was an useful way to model a sound absorbing medium.

  • In hydrology, it is a difficult task to deal with multivariate time series such as modeling streamflows of an entire complex river system. Normal distribution based model such as MARMA (Multivariate Autorgressive Moving average) has been a major approach for modeling the multivariate time series. There are some limitations for the normal based models. One of them might be the unfavorable data-transformation forcing that the data follow the normal distribution. Furthermore, the high dimension multivariate model requires the very large parameter matrix. As an alternative, one might be decomposing the multivariate data into independent components and modeling it individually. In 1985, Lins used Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The five scores, the decomposed data from the original data, were taken and were formulated individually. The one of the five scores were modeled with AR-2 while the others are modeled with AR-1 model. From the time series analysis using the scores of the five components, he noted "principal component time series might provide a relatively simple and meaningful alternative to conventional large MARMA models". This study is inspired from the researcher's quote to develop a multivariate simulation model. The multivariate simulation model is suggested here using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Independent Component Analysis (ICA). Three modeling step is applied for simulation. (1) PCA is used to decompose the correlated multivariate data into the uncorrelated data while ICA decomposes the data into independent components. Here, the autocorrelation structure of the decomposed data is still dominant, which is inherited from the data of the original domain. (2) Each component is resampled by block bootstrapping or K-nearest neighbor. (3) The resampled components bring back to original domain. From using the suggested approach one might expect that a) the simulated data are different with the historical data, b) no data transformation is required (in case of ICA), c) a complex system can be decomposed into independent component and modeled individually. The model with PCA and ICA are compared with the various statistics such as the basic statistics (mean, standard deviation, skewness, autocorrelation), and reservoir-related statistics, kernel density estimate.

  • Component-based software development is introduced as a new development paradigm in software development method. This approach is different from existing software development approach because it is based on reusable and autonomous unit, component. Therefore, component-based development(CBD)is divided into two stages; component development process and component assembly process; application development process. Component development process is the core of CBD because component has a key for good software. Currently many methodologies or tools have been introduced by various academies or industries. However, those don't suggest systematic and flexible modeling techniques adaptable easily into component development project. Existing approaches have a unique orarbitrary modeling technique or provide heuristic guidelines for component modeling. As a result, many component developers are faced with a difficult problems; how to developcomponent models, when develop which diagrams, and so on. In order to address this problem, we suggest a meta-model driven approach for component development in this paper. We provide meta-models according to both layer and development phase. We expect that suggested meta-models allow component developers to develop appropriate models of the time.

  • A load modeling, micro method, is performed by component load modeling, load composition rate estimation and aggregation of component load model, etc. The load model obtained from this process must be applied to actual load bus to verify it and to get reliable load model. But it is difficult to apply every load bus due to al lot of load buses and complex experiment. This paper proposed the field test method in load bus to verify the load modeling. For appropriate field test, representative load buses are selected by the proposed algorithm considering the composition rate of user category in all load buses. The field tests were performed at selected load buses to obtain load characteristics of bus by time and seasonal without blackout. The results of measurement and analysis are presented in detail.

  • This paper presents spatial relationshaps and engineering features for the feature based modeling of Sheet Metal Weld Assemblies (SMWA) that are made of sheet metal components through are welding processes. Spatial relationships in ProMod-S, a sheet metal product modeler, are further extended for the SMWA modeling. Some spatial relationships for special weld joint types are newly introduced. The geometrical and topological relations between spatial reationship, mating features, and assembly features are defined. Finally, assembly data stucturess for the product modeling of SMWA are proposed. They are an engineering relation to represent the constraints between component features, and a mating bond to integrate component design information.
