  • Relative to the large number of photosynthetic dinoflagellate species, only a select few possess proteinaceous, carotenoid-rich eyespots which have been demonstrated in other algae to act in phototactic responses. The proteins comprising the different categories of dinoflagellate eyespots are positioned in or near the peridinin-containing photosynthetic plastid membranes which are composed primarily of two galactolipids, mono- and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG and DGDG). Within eyespot-containing dinoflagellates, this arrangement occurs mostly in those with secondary plastids, although some dinoflagellates with tertiary plastids of diatom origin are known to possess eyespots. We here provide an examination of the MGDG and DGDG composition of eyespot-containing dinoflagellates with secondary, peridinin-containing plastids and tertiary plastids of diatom origin to address the fundamental question of whether eyespots and their component proteins and carotenoids are associated with alterations in galactolipid composition when compared to eyespot-lacking photosynthetic dinoflagellates. This is an important question because the dinoflagellate eyespot-plastid membrane system can be considered a more complicated and evolved state of plastid development. Included in this examination are data on the previously unexamined peridinin- and type A eyespot-containing dinoflagellate Margalefidinium polykrikoides, and the type D eyespot-containing, aberrant plastid "dinotom" Durinskia baltica. In addition, we have reviewed the galactolipid composition of algae from the Chlorophyceae, Cryptophyceae, and Euglenophyceae as a comparison to determine if algal classes apart from the Dinophyceae contain altered galactolipids in association with eyespots. We conclude that the presence of an eyespot in dinoflagellates and other algae is not associated with noticeable changes in galactolipid composition.

  • This paper presents a novel structural composition for artificial bone scaffolds with an appropriate biocompatibility and biodegradability capability. To achieve this aim, carbon nanotubes, due to their prominent mechanical properties, high biocompatibility with the body and its structural similarities with the natural bone structure are selected in component of the artificial bone structure. Also, according to the piezoelectric properties of natural bone tissue, the barium titanate, which is one of the biocompatible material with body and has piezoelectric property, is used to create self-healing ability. Furthermore, due to the fact that, most of the bone tissue is consists of hydroxyapatite, this material is also added to the artificial bone structure. Finally, polycaprolactone is used in synthetic bone composition as a proper substrate for bone growth and repair. To demonstrate, performance of the presented composition, the mechanical behaviour of the bone scaffold is simulated using ANSYS Workbench software and three dimensional finite element modelling. The obtained results are compared with mechanical behaviour of the natural bone and the previous bone scaffold compositions. The results indicated that, the modulus of elasticity, strength and toughness of the proposed composition of bone scaffold is very close to the natural bone behaviour with respect to the previous bone scaffold compositions and this composition can be employed as an appropriate replacement for bone implants.

  • Small art museums are important objects in the point of view that they are museums to speak for the general architectural culture of current Korea and immediate factors to have an effect on urban street view and urban people's life. In small art museums, form has had plural transfigurational process when we analyze the external component elements or form types, we will find various aspects. In past, composition of form was expressed by simple partition of surface and columv. Now a days, it is expressed with unnumerable formal vocabularies. Although these forms being looked plural, form principle of composition that prescribe it can be rather simple. This study aims to grasp the characteristics and the composition technique of form in small art museums by analyzing compositional elements of it.

  • In order to examine food components of coho salmon and rainbow-trout, We analyzed the composition of protein, amino acids and total lipids. The coho salmon muscle contained about 19.3% of protein with the composition of 29.9% in sarcoplasmic protein, 56.3oA in myofibrillar protein 12.5% alkali soluble protein and 2.6% in stroma. Those of rainbow-trout contained 34.1%, 56.4%, 8.3% and 2.9%, respectively. The sarcoplasmic and myofibrillar protein were composed of 13 subunits in coho salmon, and 16 and 15 subunits in rainbow-trout. Judging from the contents of essential amino acids, both muscle proteins were complete proteins. The most remarkable feature of free amino acids was that a large amount of dipeptide anserine was present with fairly lower levels of 1 methyl histidine, taurine, histidine, alanine and glycine in both muscle extracts. The total fatty acids of coho salmon was composed of 31.49% polyenes, 43.79% monoenes and 24.73% saturates. The composition of total fatty acid of coho salmon muscle was not different from that of rainbow-trout muscle.

  • In this investigation x-ray diffraction method was mainly studied for quantitative analysis of clinker mineral composition. And also optical microscopic observation and Bogue calculation method were applied to compare with the x-ray diffraction method. In the procedure of x-ray diffraction analysis graphite monochromator automatic divergence slit and spinner for sample holder were used for minimizing the error due to the operation of the equipment. Especially the separation of overlapped peaks were proceeded by micro-processor automatically. The results of x-ray diffraction method for synthesized clinker were consistent with the Bogue value and the results of optical microscopic observation. However the results of quantitative analysis of mineral composition or commercial clinker containing solid solution of minor component were different from the Bogue value. On the other hand they agreed reasonably well with results of the optical mic-roscopic observation.

  • This paper presents the friction induced scuffing and wear defects analysis of a pin bushing bearing based on the chemical composition using a scanning microscopy (SEM) and an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX). The SEM/EDX system, which may provide good information on the surface thermal defects and chemical compositions, provides impurities such as an aluminum, a silicon, a ferrous component and an oxygen, especially. The EDX measured results show that the oxygen may reduce the strength and a hardness of a pin busing, which may lead to a scuffing and a seizure on the rubbing contact surface. The current technology fabricated by a sintering for a pin bushing bearing should be modified or changed to reduce the oxygen composition and the impurities in pin bushing materials.

  • In this paper, we synthesized 10 to 20 nm diameter NiFe nanoparticles and nanoparticle films utilizing supersonic jet deposition of nanoparticle aerosols generated by laser ablation of $30\;to\;45{\mu}m$ diameter permalloy $(Ni_{81}Fe_{19} \;at\;{\%})$ microparticles. The component and composition of the nanoparticles were characterized by an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The morphology of the nanoparticles and nanoparticle films was analyzed by a high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and a scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The experimental results showed that the nanoparticles and nanoparticle films have remarkable properties with an excellent preservation of the composition of feedstock permalloy microparticles. The purpose of the present work is to present details on the composition and nanostructural characterizations for NiFe nanoparticles and nanoparticle films prepared by laser ablation of microparticles (LAM).
