The JCMT is now in its third year of operations under EAO management. During this past year, we continued with calls for regular PI programs as well as the second call for Large Programs. The performance of SCUBA-2 has been improved by replacing internal optical filters. The 230GHz Receiver A is in the process of being replaced by a new closed-cycle system. The SCUBA-2 polarimeter, POL-2, commissioned during the past year, has been working very well in measuring the magnetic field structures in molecular clouds. The JCMT successfully participated in the Event Horizon Telescope experiment during April 2017, which utilized the phased-up ALMA for the first time. The first round of Large Programs are nearing completion, with first publications beginning to be published. The JCMT continues to welcome inputs from the community, and the next users meeting will be held in Seoul in January 2018.

The Korea National Agricultural College (KNAC) was established as a special three academic years(six semesters) course by the Presidential Act in July 1995 and opened on March 20, 1997. According to the Act, the students of KNAC are granted free boarding in dormitory, full support of educational expenses, and, after completion, exception in military service and financial support for farming, which is their obligation to do for a double period of the total school year. With these institutional favors KNAC is hight expected to bring up promising young farm managers in Korea. However, actual competitive young farm managers are brought up by the well organized education with emphasis on learning by doing approach. With the relation to the education this study was performed to review and examine present situation of faculty organization, facilities and equipments, curriculum including field training in home land and oversea's counties. This study found out that there were undesirable aspects such as unbalanced faculty members among the departments, lack of practice farm land and limited budget in field training, which should be improved to achieve the objectives of KNAC.

In electic railway, 25kV is applied to AC sections of overhead contact lines and pantographs of Korea Train eXpress(KTX) make contact at speeds of 300km/h. Thus, there is a need to utilize wireless, optic, contact-less sensors to implement condition monitoring systems. This paper is based on describing and analyzing the condition monitoring system implementation technologies for efficient catenary current ratio characteristic assessment. The conclusion of this paper should be widely applied to design, diagnosis, completion of construction, current collection status, fault diagnosis, and selection of contact wires and suspension wires.

The completion of sequencing human genome would motivate us to map millions of human cDNAs onto the unique ruler "genome sequence", in order to identify the exact address of each cDNA together with its exons, its promoter region, and its alternative splicing patterns. The expression patterns of some cDNAs could therefore be associated with these precise gene addresses, which further accelerate studies on mining correlations between motifs of promoters and expressions of genes in tissues. Towards the realization of this goal, we have developed a time-and-space efficient software named SQUALL that is able to map one cDNA sequence of length a few thousand onto a long genome sequence of length thirty million in a couple of minutes on average. Using SQUALL, we have mapped twenty thousand of our Bodymap (http://bodymap.ims.u-tokyo.ac.jp) cDNAs onto the genome sequences of Chr.21st and 22nd. In this talk, I will report the status of this ongoing project.

To meet the demand of Korea's e-trade, global e-trade should be implemented and the global network is absolutely needed for the completion of e-trade. In this regard, this study suggested the concept and effect of global e-trade and analyzed the current status of PAA, ASEM projects which have been processing as pilot projects. Also, it derived tasks for the implementation of global e-trade through SWOT analysis and made up questions to the firms which are participating the pilot projects. Therefore, the four implementation models of global e-trade network are brought up. These models are very similar to each pilot project such as PAA, ASEM, and could be classified by developed and developing countries.

The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of various factors on energy consumption of apartment buildings. Energy consumption data of the Green Together, integrated building energy management system maintained by the government were used, and end-use and primary energy consumption data of 2012 were analyzed for 181 apartment complexes completed between 2004 and 2011 in Seoul. Energy consumption by use, source and heating type were analyzed. Then, energy consumption trends were analyzed and suggested according to energy efficiency ratings, number of households, areas for exclusive use, number of floors, core types, building types, orientations and completion years.

In a construction project, collaboration amongst the project participants is a critical factor for high-quality results and successful completion of the project. Owing to the advance of information technologies, web-based systems have become more common in the construction industry, but research and development has been made for only limited areas. For organized and systematic collaboration in various fields, collaboration systems have to be developed in a holistic manner based on diverse needs from the whole construction industry. This study aims to investigate the current status of web-based collaboration systems from structural engineers' perspectives and propose an improvement plan. For a systematic analysis of selected cases, we apply a classification of three developmental stages depending on interoperability and organizational levels: structural design and analysis, collaborative design, and integrated design management. Thereafter, the characteristics of each stage are extracted and comparatively analyzed. Lastly, three functional factors were proposed for the improvement of web-based collaboration systems for structural design.

This study proposes a framework for estimation by learning based on a Linear Bayesian approach. As a project progresses, we sequentially observe the durations of completed activities. By reflecting this newly available information to update the distribution of remaining activity durations and thus project duration, we can implement a decision support system that updates e.g. the expected project completion time as well as the probabilities of completing the project within talc due date and by a certain date. By Implementing such customized systems, project manager can be aware of changing project status more effectively and better revise resource allocation plans.

Logistics security has been enhanced to control cargo containers effectively and safely in global logistics. In response to the change, This study describes the system now being developed that tracks container position, watches cargo security status and gets informations of surrounding until the cargos arrived at its destination. We examine completion and satisfaction of the product for prospective users. For this, considering earlier studies about customer trust, satisfaction, service quality and purchase decision, we analyse an effect among the variables empirically. As a result, when the program is released, we examine customers' satisfaction and purchase decision for the informations to be offered from the program.
