37 years old female was admitted with chief complaints of dyspnea on exertion and hemoptysis. Past history and family history were non-contributory. Physical examination showed Grade III systolic murmur at the apex, which transmitted to the back. E. K. G. and X-ray findings were compatible with the mitral insufficiency. With small size of Beall mitral valve, mitral valve replacement was done under the cardia-pulmonary bypass using hemodilution technic. Patient was tracheotomized after operation and assisted respiration was done for four weeks. Postoperatively, all signs were fine and patient walked around the ward without any difficulty, but she was in psychotic state. On postoperative 60th day, she complained of sudden dyspnea and on chest film, tracheal stenosis was found and recannulation of the tracheal tube was made. Thereafter, she was quite fine until postoperative 110th day when she, by berself, removed the tracheal cannula and died of asphyxia. Autopsy findings of the valve showed no thrombosis, no variance of the valve, and good endothelization of the valve cuffs. Asphyxia, due to removal of the tracheal connula by herself under psychotic state, was considered to be the cause of death in this patient who had tracheal stenosis after tracheostomy.

The bronchopulmonary sequestration is a term used to describe an area of embryonic lung tissue supplied by an anomalous systemic artery. Two forms are recognised -extralobar and intralobar- with different clinical presentations. We have experienced a case of aspergillosis within an intralobar sequestration. The patient was 32 year-old female and had no specific complaints. The lung mass containing cystic lesion was found incidentally and confirmed to be intralobar sequestration on the operative field which showed aberrant artery in the inferior pulmonary ligament. The railroad noise has been considered as one of environment pollution and complaints about it have been increasing every year. Therefore, the establishment of railroad noise monitoring network is necessary. It will be designed for monitoring railroad noise, storing data of railroad noise continuously and providing the fundamental knowledge for the measures of railroad noise. For this, we investigated the actual condition and status of railroad noise according to distance around Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Busan. This paper shows the basic data that will be used for predicting the noise level near railroad in the environmental impact assessment.

Objectives: This study was conducted to find out whether herbal medication during pregnancy causes any deformity in the unborn fetus. Methods: Thirty-five gynecological outpatients of KyungHee Univ. Oriental Hospital (1996. 10 - 1999. 2) who had taken herbal medication during pregnancy were questioned about duration of pregnancy at the moment, chief complaints, kinds of herbal medicine taken and its dosage and they were asked to answer the questionnaire over the phone about duration of pregnancy at the time of delivery, the newborn’s weights, delivery methods and the condition of deformity. Results and conclusions: The results of this experiment in which 35 pregnant women with the experience of herbal medication during pregnancy confirm that herbal medication during pregnancy does not cause any deformity to the newborn. It is thought that more studies through clinical follow-up and experiments are needed in the future.

In the past, the results of window cleaning work have been judged subjective and complaints about cleaning results are being raised. In this study, we tried to quantify the evaluation of the cleaning result. For the quantification of the evaluation, a colorimeter was selected and the basic experiment was carried out. In addition, this study examined the use of standard dust powder for artificial production of contaminants in glasses. Further evaluation and analysis will be carried out to quantify the evaluation criteria of the cleaning results.

Schizophrenia is a chronic, currently incurable, and devastating syndrome. Although sleep disturbances are not primary symptoms of schizophrenia, they are important aspects of schizophrenia. Difficulties initiating or maintaining sleep are frequently encountered in patients with schizophrenia. Many schizophrenics report low subjective sleep quality. Measured by polysomnography, increased sleep latency as well as reduced total sleep time, sleep efficiency, slow wave sleep, and rapid eye movement sleep latency (REM latency), are found in most patients with schizophrenia and appear to be an important aspect of the pathophysiology of this disorder. Some literatures suggest that worsening sleep quality precedes schizophrenic exacerbations. Co-morbid sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and restless legs syndrome (RLS), and sleep-disrupting behaviors associated with schizophrenia may lead to sleep disturbances. Clinicians should screen the patient with sleep complaints for primary sleep disorders like OSA and RLS, and carefully evaluate sleep hygiene behaviors of all patients with schizophrenia who complain of sleep disturbances.

Sleep disturbance is a one of common complaints among patients with panic disorder. However, clinicians and researchers did not give much attention to the sleep symptoms of panic disorder yet. Several previous studies suggested that the sleep disturbance in panic disorder is mediated by nocturnal panic attack. In terms of the pathophysiology of panic disorder, nocturnal panic attack seems to be closely associated with the sleep problems in panic disorder. In this article, the authors reviewed various previous studies about sleep of panic disorder and intended to give importance of evaluating sleep disturbances and nocturnal panic attack in panic disorder for both clinical and research purpose.

The gingiva consists of an epithelial layer and an underlying connective tissue layer. The oral epithelium is a keratinized, stratified, squamous epithelium. The epithelium can be divided into the following cell layer: basal layer, prickle cell layer, granular cell layer and keratinized cell layer. The desquamative disease of gingiva means exfoliative diseases of epithelial layer on the gingiva. The chronic desqumative gingivitis is usually related to the dematologic disorders that produce cutaneous and mucous membrane blisters. The cicatricial pemphigoid and lichen planus are representative diseases of the dermatologic cases. Patients may be asymptomatic or symptomatic. When symptomatic, their complaints range from a mild burning sentation to an severe pain. The clinical examination must be considered with a thorough history, and routine histologic and immunofluorescence studies. A systemic approach needs to achieve accurate diagnosis and treatment of the gingival desquamative diseases.

1. Objectives This study is about a Soeumin Atopic Dermatitis Patient. In this study, we report the effects of Sasang constitutional treatment to this patient. 2. Methods This patient was treated by Soeumin's constitutional medications and acupunture according to the result of Sasang constitutional diagnosis. 3. Results and Conclusions This patient's chief complaints were edema, palule, erythema, squama and pruritus. By using Gwakhyangjeonggi-san, she showed positive response about her symptom. This study shows that Gwakhyangjeonggi-san has effect to Atopic Dermatitis in Soeumin.

Since Metz had employed the impedance audiometry in 1946, scholars have carried out many investigation. Brook, Jeger, Cooper reported and evaluated the clinical studies of impedance audiometry and its screening test. Recently, in Korea, a studies of impedance audiometry have been reported. We analysed 100 children aged between 7-16 years old who visited OPD of E.N.T. department with the complaints of the nasal obstruction and hard of hearing from Nov. 77-Feb. 79. Through the use of otoscope and impedance audiometry, we evaluated the types of tympanogram, static compliance and the acoustic reflex. This paper is dealing with the statistical study of impedance audiometric result and its literature.
