Extra-anatomic bypass is indicated for the limb salvage of patients with threatened limb loss especially those who have high risk of infection and death after general anesthesia. We did extra-anatomic bypass procedure nineteen times over a seven year, two month period on sixteen patients. Their mean follow up period was 41.3 months. Male to female ratio was 7:1. Major complaints were resting pain[36.8%], claudication[31.6%], cyanosis[15.8%] and ulcerative change[15.8%]. Associated diseases were hypertension, tuberculosis, chronic renal failure, atrial fibrillation, complete heart block and laryngeal cancer. Postoperative patency rates were 76.9% at 1 year, 72.7% at 2 years and 70% at 3 years. Limb salvage rate was 78.9%. Postoperative mortality rate was 10.5%.

Takayasu`s arteritis is a non-specific arteritis involving the aorta and its major branches. Because of the complexity in the feature of vessel involvement, it represents various clinical presentations according to the sites of involvement. In general, the medical and the surgical treatment of this progressive disease are known to be unsatisfactory but the surgical treatment can provide symptomatic relief and prolong life in selected cases. Recently we experienced one case of Takayasu`s arteritis involving the aortic arch and its major branches. A 45 year-old male patient admitted with the complaints of dizziness, headache, visual disturbance and coldness of upper extremities. Ascending aortogram revealed total occlusion of innominate artery and near total occlusion of left common carotid artery at the site of origin of both vessels. Under the clinical diagnosis of Takayasu`s arteritis, aorto-bicarotid-right subclavian bypass was performed. Postoperative course was uneventful and most of symptoms were relieved except mild residual visual disturbance.

Although the tasks are being mechanized or automated today, many taks are still performed manually in serveral indeustrial settings and low back pain has been a social and economic problem. In this study, five machine repair tasks are selected from one manufacturing company in Pohang, which are accountable for relatively high complaints of low back pain. The purpose of this study is to quantitatively evaluate the hazards of the tasks, and finally to recommend the improved methods and guidelines for safe work practices. For most of the tasks under study, workers were found to be exposed to relatively high stresses in low back, mainly due to the heavy objects handled and the improper working postures.

As the Internet is explosively growing and the market is rapidly globalized, many entrepreneurs have been given an impetus to take on the function of the intermediation between providers and customers. Organizations performing the mediating roles in the cyberspace are termed 'cybermediary' and often called 'Openmarket' as a kind of transactional cybermediary in Korea. Despite sustainable growth of Openmarket, customer complaints and damages are increasing because of absence of recovery standards after a service failure. Therefore, it is important that a service provider converts dissatisfied customers to advocates for the growth of the Openmarket. This study aims to examine the role of recovery of the service failures for the Openmarket by proposing a relationship between complaint handling and continuance based on the equity theory. From the empirical results, we found that interactional equity had significant effects on both overall service satisfaction and recovery satisfaction, while procedural equity significantly influenced only recovery satisfaction. Recovery satisfaction also had an impact on overall service satisfaction and each satisfaction factor was positively related to continuance intention.

Recently, it was reported that complaints about problems being experienced with the performance of vehicles operating on autogas in Korea. The problem was being assumed due to contaminants in LPG and an oily material which was being deposited in vaporizer, injector in LPG fuel system. This study is focused on the analysis of contaminant of automobile parts on LPG fuel system. The sampling points of contaminants are injectors, fuel filters, vaporizer in automobile equipment and it was also investigated by GC-MS, ICP-AES, SIMDIS and EDS. According to results, it was presumed that this contaminants had been analyzed plasticizers with hydrocarbons with high boiling point, Fe from steel corrosion, greases from gas station.

One aspect of customer dissatisfaction, safety or more correctly, the lack of product safety has received particular attention in courts and in legislatures, especially in the developed countries. Therefore, many companies have always regarded safety elements as an essential part of product manufacturing. In this paper, the case study on the product safety of infant cosmetics manufactured by a small-medium enterprise is presented. We have focused our study on safety level and control system of product safety, also analyzed the product defects caused by mixing process and all departments. It is found that the product defects(Complaints, Enquiries) is considerably decreased. These results could be used to deal with a product recall which companies hope never happens to them.

Objective: To build a basis of strategy for development of herbal drug as a preventive medicine during dynamic innovation of Korean Oriental medicine. Methods: Via telephone interview, 101 subjects prescribed with deer antler were asked to provide us their reflections about five topics: points of satisfaction, physical improvement, improved symptoms, annual times of taking restorative herbal medicine, and aspect of complaints about taking the herbal drugs. Results: Around 68% of subjects usually take a restorative herbal medicine with deer antler less than once per year. 63% of subjects were satisfied with herbal restoratives. They answered the physical energetic feeling (52%) as the most benefit while expensive price (43%) as the most frequent complaint. Conclusion: Scientifically designed restorative herbal medicine needs to be developed for competitiveness of Korean Oriental medicine as a preventive medicine. In addition, more reasonable price and confirmative data for safety and quality control should be equipped in Korean Oriental medical market.

This study examines the effects of consumer counseling education on the work performance and work satisfaction of consumer counselors, controlling the effects of other variables. The results of this study is as below: First, approximately 70% of consumer counselors have not had any education pertinent to their work. The level of work performance was highest in listening to customers' complaints, and then consistence of counseling work and explanation for counseling were next. Professionality was the last in order. Second, consumer counseling education did not affect the work performance. Instead, the number of counselors and work experience, along with whether the counselor majored in consumer studies, were more likely to increase the performance. Finally, educating counseling skills did not affect the level of work satisfaction. Instead, the work performance affected the level of work satisfaction. The number of workers and income were positively related with the level of work satisfaction.

A 37-year-old male was admitted for left chest pain during a 6 months period and was given an epidural block for pain control. Vancomycin 500 mg/4 ml instead of 0.25% bupivacaine was accidentaly injected into the epidural space. The patient suddenly complained of an unexpected chest tightness and dyspnea after epidural injection. The patient was treated with steroids and local anesthetics via epidural space and recovered without any neurologic sequelae. The patient completely recovered on the 46th postadmission day and went home without any complaints. We report this case and review the accidental injection of substances into the epidural space.

Intracranial schwannomas preferentially arise from the vestibular branch of the eighth nerve, and rarely from the trigeminal nerve, facial nerve, and lower cranial nerves. Anterior cranial fossa schwannomas are extremely uncommon and few details about them have been reported. The patient was a 39-year-old woman whose chief complaints were anosmia and frontal headache for 2 years. The gadolinium (Gd)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed an extra-axial mass from ethmoid sinus to right frontal base region near the midline, with solid enhancement in lower portion and multicystic formation in upper portion. The tumor was totally resected via basal subfrontal approach. At operation, the tumor had cystic portion with marginal calcification and the anterior skull base was destructed by the tumor. The olfactory bulb was involved, and the tumor capsule did not contain neoplastic cells. The histopathological diagnosis was schwannoma. We report a rare case of anterior cranial fossa schwannoma with literature review.
