Based on the analysis, "experimenting" and "association", among abilities of discovery, have been found to strengthen competitive strategies. Also in the context of abilities needed for discovery, differentiation strategy has a greater effect on a firm's performance than the cost leadership strategy. Furthermore, the mediating effect of competitive strategies was prominently displayed in experimenting and corporate performance.

This study applies quality function deployment(QFD) to the determination of information system development priority. The intent of QFD is to incorporate the needs of a customer through the various stages of product planning and manufacturing into a final product. The basic idea of our study is to translate the core competence and the competitive environment into the business strategy, and the critical success factors, and subsequently into information system development priority. Our method is applied to a motor company for the determination of the information system development priority. The company case is illustrated step by step with real data of the company and motor market.

  • In a competitive environment of electric power industry, the level of uncertainly increase due to generation investment decisions creating new challenge to transmission system planner. The use of a locational signal and the provision of a indicative plan to control the transmission investment reasonably is very important in the viewpoint of a regulator. The main target of this study is to emphasize on the necessity for considering simultaneously both transmission expansion plan and congestion cost. • In the literature, the general framework of competitive forces has been used extensively to analyze industries in the traditional economy. More specifically, the model has been used to develop strategies for companies in various sectors. The general model can also be used to analyze the use of information technology to enhance competitive advantage. This paper extends the conceptual model to the Internet environment. For concreteness, the concepts are examined in the context of the health care industry. In addition, a comparative analysis is performed to examine the similarities and differences in providing merchandise or services in cyberspace.

  • Under the internet age, the competition among recruiting intermediaries including online and offline players has been intensified for several years. Therefore, their business processes or business models have also been transformed to be able to earn the competitive advantages. For these reasons, the traditional players like offline-based recruiting companies have willingly or unwillingly experienced the competitive disadvantages on the recruit battle ground. The online recruiting intermediaries, who newly participated in this industry and based on the internet environment, however, seized on the competitive advantages with the richness and the reach traits of online media. Under this context, the offline traditional intermediaries, who have been threatened by new online entries, must make a replacement of traditional trading mechanisms with alternative trading mechanisms like IT-enabled intermediaries. In this study by exploratory approach, we investigate the phases of transformation of the traditional recruiting intermediaries, changes in business strategies of offline-based firms, and impacts of online media in e-recruiting industry.

  • This paper presents a methodology to find the profit maximized Nash Equilibriums of each generator(or GenCo), which considers the Ramp-rate of each generator under a competitive market environment. The ramp-rate of a generator is one of the physical or technical constraints of a generator and means the ability to increase or decrease the output instantaneously. In this paper, we found several Nash Equilibriums of the generation allocation problem through Dynamic Programming in a competitive market. Individual generators participate in a game to maximize its profit through competitions and play a game with bidding strategies of its generation quantities in a spot market.

Under ubiquitous environment, most organizations are struggling to achieve the competitive edge over other organizations. Like others, University has the same problems to meet clients' needs to become being competitive. Most universities are struggling to find the answer how to develop effective campus service systems considering existing or new information systems with very new to well-known high technologies available to them. The research is to provide meaningful thoughts by analyzing empirical data and provide meaning information for University being competitive with IS and mobile campus related decisions.
