정보기술기업의 역량, 경쟁전략 및 성과의 관계 (An Empirical Study of the Interrelationship Corporate Capability, Competitive Advantage and Business Performance in IT Enterprise)

  • 기업들은 일반적으로, 가치가 있으며 희귀하고, 또 대체불가능하며 모방이 어려운 자원을 보유하고 있다 하더라도 이들 자원이 경쟁전략으로 연결되기 위해서는 자원을 역량을 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 기업의 역량(corporate capability)이 있어야 한다. 특히, 정보기술기업들은 자원기반관점에서의 내적인 기업역량(corporate capability)의 확보와 우월한 경쟁우위를 바탕으로 경쟁자에 비해 경쟁우위(competitive advantage)를 창출하여야 하며, 이것이 기업성과와 연결 될 수 있다. 연구의 목적은 정보기술기업들은 자원기반관점에서의 내적인 기업역량(corporate capability)의 확보와 우월한 경쟁우위를 바탕으로 경쟁자에 비해 경쟁우위(competitive advantage)를 창출하여야 하며, 이것이 기업성과와 연결 될 수 있다는 가정 하에서 출발하고 있으며, 정보기술 기업들의 역량과 경쟁전략 및 성과의 관계를 한국의 정보기술기업 조직에서 수집한 자료를 토대로 실증적으로 분석하고자 하고자 하였다. 실증적 연구를 통해 도출된 정보기술기업들은 기업역량과 경쟁전략의 차원에서 통계적으로 유의한 결과들을 도출하였는데, 특히 재무역량과 원가우위의 정의 영향관계, 반면에 재무역량과 기술 차별화전략의 부의 영향관계를 도출하였다. 또한 기업역량의 변수들은 경영성과에는 모두 정의 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타다 기업의 핵심역량과 자원기준관점의 중요성을 확인하는 계기가 되었다. 또한 경쟁전략과 경영성과의 관점에서는 정보기술기업의 경우에도 기술 차별화의 전략적 중요성에도 불구하고 원가우위 전략을 추구함으로서 경영성과에 직접적인 정의 영향이 있음을 확인하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to prove empirically that technology investment propency factors (TIPFs) refect on the technological competitive advantage (TCA) and management performance. It includes the role of open technology innovation (OTI) approach is mediate to TCA from technology investment propensity. Especially the three TIPFs are market orientation, innovation orientation and strategy orientation. The analysis were performed based on the respondents' data from 181 firms focusing to technology innovation and information technology. The suggested research assumptions including structured equation model were proved. Therefore, this study emphasizes that CEO or CTO must concentrate on innovative, strategic and market oriented propensity when he makes a decision on technology investment. An open innovation approach is effective for getting high TCA and management performance in technology intensive firms such as technology innovation and information technology.

기업환경과 제휴성공요인에 대한 섬유업체들의 인식 (Perceptions of Textile Companies on Business Environments and Alliance Success Factors)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the alliance success factors (ASF) and the business environments (BE) from the textile companies' viewpoint, to examine the differences in ASF and BE by firm characteristics, and to examine the relationships between BE and ASF. BE included the degree of market competition and the firm's competitive advantage, and firm characteristics included type of business, the number of employees, and length of business operation. Data were obtained from 155 textile companies in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions in Korea via a questionnaire survey. Four factors including relationship capital, organizational support, alliance management, and alliance performance were extracted from ASF, and resources, product development, and marketing were extracted from the firm's competitive advantage. There were differences in product development by the number of employees and in the degree of market competition by type of business. The degree of market competition had significant relationships with all of ASF while the firm's competitive advantage differed in the relationships.

정보기술의 활용과 기업 전략간의 조화가 기업 성과에 미치는 영향 (Alignment between Information Technology Use and Corporate Strategy and Its Impact on Corporate Performance)

  • This paper empirically examines relationships among corporate strategy, competitive advantage of information technology(CAIT), and organizational performance. Effects of information technology on the linkage between corporate strategy and performance is investigated and CAIT measures suggested by Sethi and King(1994) as well as Sung(1997) are tested for verification. Research results confirm that information technology provides several traits of strategic advantages such as efficiency, threat, functionality, preemptiveness, and synergy and significantly contributes to corporate performance. CAIT measures developed by Sethi and King show strong reliability and validity, Generally, service industry firms show more strong relationship among CAT strategy, and performance than manufacturing industry firms. The findings reinforce the accepted belief that alignment between corporate strategy and CAT is critical for firms to attain sustainable competitive advantage, subsequently enhances corporate performance and competitive position against rivals, potential entrants, substitutes, suppliers, and buyers.

지식경영효과에 관한 탐색적 연구: 상황관점 (An Exploratory Study on the Effects of Knowledge Management: A Contingency Perspective)

  • In order to explore a relationship among KM context, KM effects, and sustainability of competitive advantage of organizations, a contingency model of KM, which is based on resource-based as well as knowledge-based theory, is developed from the information systems and strategic management literature. To put it concretely, our motivation for this paper was to answer the following questions: (1) What factors affect the degree to which an organization achieves KM effects? (2) Is there a positive relationship between KM effects and organizational performance achieved by linking KM to competitive advantage? A detailed exploratory analysis of survey responses from 79 Korean companies provides the following significant findings: (1) This study found support for the proposed research model. (2) The organization's degree of process and organizational outcomes of KM effects is determined by technical and social resources and its capabilities. Furthermore, the influence of technical and social resources of KM context on process and organizational outcomes of KM effects is controlled by different types of organizational perspectives on KM. (3) There is a relationship between process and organizational outcomes of KM effects and organizational performance enhanced by linking KM to competitive advantage.

  • 최근 글로벌 경쟁구도에서 가장 치열한 분야인 디스플레이 산업중심으로 공급망관리(SCM)의 실행요인들이 경쟁우위에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 글로벌 기업들은 시장의 빠른 변화에 능동적으로 대응하기 위해 기업 민첩성의 확보가 중요한 전략이다. 이러한 시장상황을 고려하여 기업 민첩성이 경쟁우위에 영향을 미치는지와 실행요인과 경쟁우위 관계에서 매개적 역할을 하는지를 검증 하고자 했다. 연구결과, SCM 실행요인 4개의 독립변수 중 전략적파트너쉽, 정보공유, 정보기술의 3개 변수는 기업 민첩성과 경쟁우위에 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 영향을 미치는 걸로 분석되었다. 또한 SCM 실행요인과 경쟁우위 관계에서 기업 민첩성은 매개효과를 보이는 것으로 검증 되었다. 본 연구결과는 글로벌 제조업에서 공급망관리(SCM)는 기업 경영에서 필수적으로 운영되어야 할 경영정보시스템(MIS) 임을 시사하고 있다.

개방형 혁신과 조직학습 특성이 벤처기업의 기술경쟁우위에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Open Innovation and Organizational Learning on Technological Competitive Advantage in Venture Business)

  • Although a wide range of theoretical researches have emphasized on the importance of knowledge management in cooperative R&D network, the empirical researches to synthetically examine the role of organizational learning and open innovation which influence on the performance of technological innovation are not enough to meet academic and practical demands. This study is to investigate the effect of open innovation and organizational learning in venture business on technological competitive advantage and establish the mediating role of organizational learning. For the purpose, the questionnaires, made based on the reviewing previous researches, were collected from 274 Korean venture businesses whose managerial focus is on developing technological innovation. As a result of analysis, the relational dimensions of open innovation - network, intensity and trust shared by a firm with external R&D partners - as well as the internal organizational learning system and competence have positive influence on building technological competitive advantage whose sub-variables are technological excellence, market growth potential and business feasibility. In addition, it is identified that organizational learning has the mediating and moderating effect in the relationship between open innovation and technological competitive advantage. These results imply that open innovation complements and expend the range of limited resources and the scope of innovation in technology-intensive small and medium-sized enterprises. Besides, organizational learning activity reinforces the use of knowledge and resources, obtained from external R&D partners. On the basis of these results, detailed issues and discussion were made in the conclusion.

The Influence of Intellectual Capital Elements on Company Performance

  • Intellectual capital is becoming a crucial factor for a firm's long-term profit and performance in the knowledge-based economy as more firms identify their core competence as invisible assets rather than visible assets (Itami, 1987). The company was encouraged to measure financial and non-financial factors, including the customer perspective groups, the internal business process, learning and growth perspective, then to link all these measurements in a coherent system. This paper seeks to investigate the influence of intellectual capital elements on company performance, as well as the relationship among intellectual capital elements from a cause-effect perspective. Resource-Based View (RBV) considers intellectual capital as resource and capability to sustain competitive advantage on company performance. The partial least squares approach is used to examine listed banks in Indonesia Stock Exchange for year 2017-2019. Results show that human capital directly has positive influences on innovation capital, customer capital, and process capital. Innovation capital has positive, but less significant influence on process capital, which in turn influences customer capital. Human capital and process capital also influence customer capital. Finally, customer capital contributes to performance. This study helps management to identify relevant intellectual capital elements as competitive advantage and their indicators to enhance business performance.

실증적분석을 통한 전략정보 시스템 구축 방안에 관한 연구 -경쟁적인 우위를 얻기 위한 정보기술 구조와 경쟁 전략- (The Effect of IST Structure and Competitive Strategy on Competitive Advantage : An Empirical Investigation)

  • In a study involving 52 large organizations in the savings institutions industry, the relationship between information systems technology (IST) structure and competitive strategy was investigated based on structural contingency theory. Structural contingency theory argues that organizational performance is contingent on the congruence between structure and contingent factors. Competitive strategy is considered to be the most important contingent factor among organizational context variables. Two dimensions of IST structure and three types of competitive strategy were employed to test a contingency model. It was found that enhanced congruence between IST structure and competitive strategy was associated with higher competitive advantage. The structural dimension significantly associated with the "defender" strategic stance was more centralized and more integrated application of IST, while the structural dimension significantly associated with "prospector" positioning was more decentralized and less integrated application of IST.

  • This paper aimed to exam core factors of the success factors of new products and analyze their effects on success. To accomplish this purpose, this study examined previous studies and summarized core factors of success factors of new products. From previous studies, we drawed core factor. Core factor is technology factors(marketing skills, technical skills), specific of new product(more innovative, less innovative, cost advantage, competitive advantage), the process of product development(crossfunctional integration, staff involvement). Except for more innovative factors, the others factors affect on success. To be winner, companies must be consider these key factor(less innovative, cost advantage, competitive advantage, cross-functionalintegration, staff involvement).
