외부 경쟁을 고려한 두 단계 공급체인에서의 단계기본재고수준의 결정 (Echelon Base Stock Policy with Outside Competition in a Two-Stage Supply Chain)

  • This Paper focuses on the effects of outside competition on an optimal echelon base stock level in a two stage supply chain. This is new in that we have been studying the effects of inside competition within a supply chain up to now. It is known that the optimal echelon base stock level with inside competition within a supply chain is less than the global optimal echelon base stock level without inside competition. This is due to the ' public goods ' nature of inventory. That is, more inventory is better, but one wants the other to invest more, thus resulting in under-investment. However, this phenomenon becomes weaker as outside competition increases. We show that as outside competition becomes stronger, the ' public goods ' effects decrease and the optimal echelon base stock level increases. If the level of competition is sufficiently high, the optimal echelon base stock level goes even higher than the global optimal echelon base stock level. We develop a theoretical model for the analysis and conduct a numerical analysis.

  • Accelerating economic growth since the 1960s, penetration rate of the House of Commons has been increased. However, design competition has been imposed for improve of the qualitative level in modern because it was quantitative increasing. Even though its design quality is improved by introducing design competition, distorting the design is increased for the purpose of election. For that reason, errors of information and design changes are increased. So BIM(Building Information Modeling) is adopted to solve the problems. In this study, BIM process on the basis of the existing design process was to clean up and LoI(Level Of Information) based on the level of information was newly defined. Working-level of the design competition is plan-basic design. LOI level is LOI1-LOI2 in plan and Lol3-LOI4 in basic design. At each step of the operation was to clean up the level of detail and content. Also exchange of data in each area and feedback about content are to clean up.

  • State highway agencies (SHAs) typically apply a competitive procurement procedure to select contractors for their design-bid-build projects. Since the level of competition affects construction bid prices and project outcomes, the Federal Highway Agency (FHWA) suggests SHAs seek ways to improve competition among contractors continuously. However, they rarely conduct an empirical assessment of the current competition level necessary to identify room for improvement. Besides the number of bidders on a project, other factors such as winning or losing rates among the contractors in previous projects can also indicate the degree of competition; only a few contractors may have won the majority of the projects in a specific region. However, few studies have investigated such factors. This paper proposes a network analysis-based approach to evaluating contractor competition levels of highway projects using historical bid tabulation data. The proposed method provides insights into overall competition levels, the determination of competitive contractors, and winning rate distribution among contractors.

패권경쟁과 해군력의 역할 (Hegemonic Competition and the Role of Naval Power)

  • This paper aims to analyze hegemonic competition and the role of naval power. To this end the paper is composed of four chapters titled introduction, the role of naval power in the hegemonic competition, the role of naval power in the East Asia, and the lessons and implications for the Korean Peninsula. Since the modern era, the hegemonic competition in the East Asian region has been the intrusion and struggle process between the world system and the East Asian regional system, and the ocean between these two systems has become the goal and means of supremacy(hegemony). Currently, the hegemonic competition between the US and China consists of systemic competition at the global level and marine competition at the regional level. When South Korea is forced to make strategic choices in the course of the US-China hegemonic competition, naval power will be the first factor to be considered. The ROK is asymmetrically maintaining a deep dependency relationship with the United States in terms of security and China in relation to the economy. And while the ROK's national economic power is acquired from the ocean, the ROK's military power is imbalanced because it is centered on the ground forces. These international relations and asymmetric-unbalanced resources distribution will not be able to effectively cope with the hegemonic competition between the US and China in the future, and will limit Korea's strategic choice. Since naval power and forces are the prerequisites for the hegemonic competition or the maintenance of supremacy we must construct balanced naval forces(naval power) that are not subordinate to the ground forces at the national strategic level for the future of the country.

실질적 경쟁과 잠재적 경쟁이 기업의 R&D 투자에 미치는 영향: 목표대비 성과 수준의 조절 효과를 중심으로 (The Influence of Actual and Potential Competition on Firms' R&D Investments: The Moderating Effects of Performance Relative to Aspiration Level)

  • 점차 치열해지고 있는 경쟁환경은 기업들에게 생존을 위해 끊임없이 혁신적인 제품과 서비스를 창출하도록 요구하고 있다. 이러한 경쟁환경에 대응하기 위하여 기업들은 R&D 투자를 통하여 지속적인 혁신을 달성하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 경쟁과 기업의 R&D 투자의 관계를 고찰하였다. 이를 위하여 경쟁을 실질적 경쟁과 잠재적 경쟁으로 이원화하여 각각이 기업의 R&D 투자에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 또한 이 관계가 기업의 목표대비 성과 수준에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지 관찰하였다. 미국 Compustat 데이터로 실증분석을 수행한 결과, 실질적 경쟁은 기업의 R&D 투자를 감소시키는 경향이 있었던 반면 잠재적 경쟁은 R&D 투자를 증가시키는 경향이 있었다. 이에 대하여 목표대비 성과 수준의 조절효과는 기업의 성과가 목표보다 낮았을 때는 실질적 경쟁의 음(-)의 효과를 강화시키고, 잠재적 경쟁의 양(+)의 효과를 약화시켰고, 목표보다 높았을 때에도 실질적 경쟁의 음(-)의 효과를 강화 시키고, 잠재적 경쟁의 양(+)의 효과를 약화시켰으나 그 조절효과는 기업의 성과가 목표보다 낮았을 때보다 더욱 강하게 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 실질적 경쟁 및 잠재적 경쟁과 기업의 R&D 투자의사결정의 관계 그리고 목표대비 성과 수준의 역할을 이해하는데 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Role of Informal Sector Competition on Innovation in Urban Formal Manufacturing Enterprises in India

  • The paper examines the role of the informal sector on innovation activities of urban formal manufacturing enterprises in India. It provides empirical evidence on firm-level linkages between formal and informal sectors by using the World Bank Enterprise Survey, 2013-14 and the Innovation Follow-up survey, 2014. Primarily, the paper aims to examine the effect of informal sector competition on innovation in urban formal manufacturing enterprises in India. Secondly, the paper analyses the mediation effect of informal sector competition on innovations in the urban manufacturing enterprises. It determines the direct and indirect influence of business regulations and constraints on innovation outcomes through the mediation effect of informal sector competition by using the SEM "Structural Equation Modeling" guidelines. The econometric results show that informal sector competition has a negative effect on the introduction of product innovations while industry-level informal sector competition has a positive effect on product innovation through the local knowledge spillovers from the informal to the formal sector. However, the informal sector competition was found to have no significant effect on the probability of introducing process innovations. Further, the results show the inhibitive role of informal sector competition on innovation in urban formal manufacturing enterprises is more severe for firms with heavy regulatory burdens and is relatively weakened in firms with resource constraints. This suggests that the informal sector plays an important role in the NIS (National Innovation System) in India.

위치종속임분조사(位置從屬林分調査)에 의한 개체목(個體木)의 경쟁지수(競爭指數) 및 흉고직경생장(胸高直徑生長) 추정(推定) (Estimating the Competition Indices and Diameter Growth of Individual Trees through Position-dependent Stand Survey)

  • 본 연구에서는 위치종속조사가법에 의해 소나무임분에서 조사된 자료로부터 임목의 크기 및 경쟁목과의 거리를 함께 고려한 개체목차원의 거리종속경쟁지수와 전통적인 임분차원의 밀도척도를 추정하고 이들을 흉고직경생장과 비교하여 경쟁상태에 대한 설명력을 검토하였으며, 경쟁지수가 영향변수로 고려된 개체목 흉고직경생장식을 유도하였다. 경쟁목선정방법에 있어 경쟁치단각도를 30도로 설정했을 때의 경쟁지수가 흉고직경생장과 기장 높은 상관관계를 보인 반면, 경쟁구역거리는 흉고직경생장추정에 대한 경쟁지수의 설명력에 미미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 개체목별 거리종속경쟁지수에 근거한 대부분의 임분경쟁지수들은 임분의 경쟁상태를 비슷하게 나타내는 것으로 평가되었다. 임령과 지위지수의 영향을 배제한 상태에서의 편상관분석결과 Alemdag의 평균경쟁지수 및 상대공간지수가 흉고직경과 가장 높은 연관성을 나타냈는데, 이중 개체목의 위치를 파악하지 않고도 비교적 손쉽게 파악될 수 있는 상대공간지수가 임분의 평균흉고직경을 추정하는데는 좀더 적합한 것으로 판단되었다. 개체목차원의 거리종속 경쟁지수중에서, 지위 및 흉고직경의 영향을 배제시킨다면 Hegyi의 경쟁지수가 흉고직경생장과 가장 밀접한 영향관계에 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이로부터 Hegyi경쟁지수 및 임령, 우세목수고, 개체목의 흉고직경을 영향인자로 하는 다음과 같은 흉고직경생장식을 유도하였다. $$dbh^{\prime}=3.975362676{\cdot}age^{-1.099274613}{\cdot}ho^{0.199893990}{\cdot}dbh^{0.269430865}{\cdot}HgCI^{-0.353643587}$$ 위의 식은 다른 조건이 같다면 지위지수는 흉고직경생장에 유리한 영향을 미치는 반면 임령 및 경쟁지수의 증가에 의해서는 흉고직경생장이 둔화된다는 일반생장법칙에 부합되어 흉고직경생장식으로 적합하다고 판단되며, 단목생장모델을 위한 함수식으로 활용될 수 있다.

연구개발에서의 경쟁효과 (Research Tournament and Competition Effect)

  • 본 논문은 경쟁이 혁신활동에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 연구개발의 경쟁에서는 각 연구개발자의 노력수준을 높이기 위해 경쟁자의 수를 줄이는 방안이 고려되고 있으며, 이로써 높은 가치의 혁신활동이 이루어질 수 있다. 따라서 연구개발을 장려하기 위해서는 연구개발의 유인을 극대화하기 위해 경쟁으로 인해 노력수준을 제고하는 효과와 경쟁으로 인해 노력수준을 감소시키는 효과를 동시에 감안하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 혁신활동을 장려하는 취지에서 경쟁으로 인해 발생하는 이러한 두 효과를 분석하고자 하였으며, 개별 연구개발자의 노력수준은 경쟁자 수의 증가에 따라 단조적으로 변화하지 않음을 제시하였다.

Market Competition and Audit Quality in Distribution and Service Industries

  • Purpose - This paper examines whether product market competition in distribution and service industries is related to audit quality. This paper investigates, specifically, the relationship in distribution and service industries by using Herfindahl-Hirschman Index and audit quality measured by audit fee and audit hour. Research design, data, and methodology - Using 1,011 firm-year observations of listed companies from 2002 to 2016 in distribution and service industries, this study examines whether product market competition in distribution and service industries is related to audit quality. Results - This study finds that market competition in distribution and service industries is negatively related to audit quality and this negative relation is pronounced for the firms with high outside director groups. Further analysis suggests that the relationship between market competition and audit hours is no longer significant. Conclusions - This study extended the existing scope of the audit quality study by systematically analyzing the impact of industrial-level characteristics (i.e. market competition) in the distribution service industries on audit quality. This study, in other words, suggests the regulatory body consider the industrial-level characteristics of each industry in order to enhance audit quality.

Role of Information Sharing on the Impact of Foreign Banks' Penetration on Banking Competition

  • Globalization has led to an increase in foreign banks' penetration. It is argued that the presence of foreign banks may affect the banking sector of the host countries in several ways including their competition level. It is mentioned that the presence of the foreign banks could heightened the level of competition in the banking sector. Nonetheless, the impact of the foreign banks on competition could be influenced by the degree of information sharing in the banking industry. This study investigates the role of information sharing in moderating the impact of foreign bank penetration on host banking sector competition in selected developing countries. We employ panel data samples of 54 developing countries during the period from 1998 to 2016. The estimation is carried out using the two-step system of the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) regression technique. This technique is adopted due to its robustness to all forms of endogeneity. The findings of this study show that the presence of information sharing could affect the relationship between foreign banks' penetration and competition. They suggest that improvement in information sharing by a host country may help foreign banks to improve monitoring and reduce the moral hazard and adverse selection problem.
