  • The study applied chemistry classes based on Collaborative Problem-Solving for Competency(CoProC) Instruction Model to 86 high school seniors and recognized the resulting changes in Character Competence through character competence test, analysis of argumentation, and analysis of reflective writing. In addition, the analysis of the correlation between the assessment results showed what each evaluation method meant to assess Character Competence. The study found that the average score of Character Competence rose in all three assessments, but differences were found in the detailed factors. Character competency test is meaningful in helping students participate with a sense of mastery of learning as a self-evaluation, and the analysis of the argumentation process seems to be an appropriate evaluation method to evaluate the Character Competence shown by students' words and actions through course evaluations. An analysis of reflective writing showed the advantage of being able to analyze Character competencies that are difficult to show in action by looking back on the entire course of learning. In addition, given that the correlation between the three assessment results is very low, it is expected that the three Character competency assessment methods will be conducted together to obtain detailed and comprehensive information on students' character competencies.

  • Outcome based education, a competence based approach at the cutting edge of curriculum development, offers a powerful and appealing way of reforming and managing medical education. The emphasis is on the product that is to say what sort of doctor will be producted rather than on the educational process. In outcome based education, the outcomes are clearly and unambiguously specified such as Tyler's curriculum design. The design of outcome based curriculum plans in the opposite direction, starting with the good doctor and working backwards. Outcome based curriculum offers many advantages as a way of achieving this. It emphasises relevance in the curriculum and accountability and can provide a clear and unambiguous framework for curriculum planning which has an intuitive appeal. It encourages the faculty and student to share responsibility for learning and it can guide the assessment.

  • National Competency Standards are the major administrative project to build a competence-based society. The manpower for the global society should be recognized by performance rather than educational records. Therefore, all colleges should first nurture NCS-type manpower based on field needs. This study comparatively analyzed the differences between the lecture style of four-year colleges and the outcomes of problem-solving and project-based learning method to prove why it is necessary to introduce the NCS program. Especially, It will review the constraints and measures of NCS introduction to overcome in a four-year university. Through this, it can be used as a means to help improve the field conformity of a four-year college curriculum by presenting the development and utilization of curriculum-based NCS in a four-year university. As a result, it was found that the overall satisfaction with the problem-solving and project-based learning method was above average. Many students were dissatisfied with the traditional teaching methods and the new project-based learning method was relatively effective in college education. Students' participation also improved. Based on the evaluation of learning performance, the new method was found more satisfactory than the old teaching method in terms of comprehension of professional knowledge in various fields, nurturing of logical thinking skills, acquisition of analytical skills, comprehensive thinking skills, creative problem recognition, and open-minded thinking skills.

  • The enhancement of national competitiveness in future society is the discovery and training of excellent SW convergence gifted. In order to cultivate these SW convergence gifted, reinforcing competence of teachers in charge should be made first. Therefore, in this paper, artificial intelligence education contents, one of the core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, were developed to reinforcing competence of SW convergence gifted teachers. After setting the direction of artificial intelligence education content, we constructed educational content suitable for secondary SW convergence gifted education, and designed and developed it in detail. The composition of artificial intelligence education content consists of machine learning and tensor flow understanding, linear regression machine learning implementation for numerical prediction, and multiple linear regression-based price prediction machine learning implementations. The developed educational contents were verified by experts with qualitative aspects. In the future, we expect that the educational content of artificial intelligence proposed in this paper will be useful for strengthening the ability of SW convergence gifted teachers.

  • In order to gain implications for establishing competency-based education system in Korean medicine education, we examined several competence frameworks of medical education developed at international or national level, and compared the basic constitution and common elements. The competence frameworks of medical education consist of seven categories of communication, professionalism, critical thinking, medical knowledge, patient care, management, and public health. Medical knowledge consists of five sub-groups: normal structure and function; pathogenesis and mechanism of disease; principles of drug and treatment; psychological, behavioral and sociological principles; and public health and lifelong learning. In principle, competencies are further divided into sub-categories or combined with learning outcomes, and the field and the level of achievement is presented per item. This article aims at summarizing the competencies of a few globally leading medical institutions with the educational standard of Korean Medicine in mind.

  • The purpose of this paper is to reconsider the meaning of mathematical literacy based on the investigation of the nature of mathematical knowledge communicated in university level mathematics classes. The analysis of classroom discourse has revealed three different kinds of mathematical knowledge circulated in mathematics class, which include 'factual mathematics', 'mathematical fantasy', and 'mathematical savior faire.' The fact that a mathematics teacher delivers diverse categories of mathematics knowledge suggests that the mathematical literacy is not confined to the development of technical competence. More specifically, the kinds of mathematical knowledge identified above tell that mathematical literacy developed through learning mathematics reflects the cultural norms and values of doing mathematics. This means that mathematical literacy is not merely involve with technical competence but rather with cultural competence. In this regard, this paper highlights the meaning of mathematical literacy as a cultural identity, which has been underestimated in the theory and practice of mathematics education dominated by technocracy of the twentieth century In particular, the notion of mathematical savior faire implies that teaching and teaming mathematics ultimately deals with a system of cultural meaning. Hence, through learning mathematics, a learner gets transformed as a whole person according to the cultural norms and values. In this regard, it is concluded that mathematical literacy can be considered as a necessary condition to become a competent member of mathematics community sharing cultural norms of doing mathematics as well as a repertoire of mathematical skills.

  • Using literary materials as resources for English learning rather than an object of literary study can be a genuine tool for the students to learn English in the form of oral and written communication. This case study treated the applications of a whole text to the overall course divided into pre-reading activities, while-reading activities, and post-reading activities and the applications of some partial passages extracted from various texts to teaching objectives with many levels of difficulty. This study found that literary texts could be good materials to teach the target language in EFL setting. The English-speaking students with little linguistic competence as a foreign language may be limited in learning English at first, but soon they can accelerate their linguistic competence by reinforcing the literary competence through the literary texts. To achieve effectively a desired goal through the use of literary texts as resources for language development several concrete techniques should be introduced: teacher-guided question strategies laying a central emphasis on the text itself, a problem-solving ability through student-centered activities, process-based and open-ended activities should be presented in a variety of ways using many appropriate activities according to teaching procedure with a careful selection of the texts.

  • In domestic construction industry, CM companies perform overall project management tasks such as planning, designing, construction management, evaluation, maintenance for construction projects. However, even with these tasks, as competition becomes more fierce and probability dependence is high, lots of CM companies are experiencing difficulties of securing and preparing indicators for order competence reinforcement. This study examines domestic business condition and task analysis. Also Competence factors are derived through institutional and legal investigation, and review of existing literature. The derived competence factors are focused on practical factors by interviewing with experts. competence factors for each type were classified into BSC's four perspectives(Finance / Customers / Internal processes / Learning and Growth) and surveyed. Based on the results of the survey, the priorities of competence factors that companies should focus on were derived. The purpose of this study is to contribute on making an indicator that can be utilized on business activities through priority analysis of competence factors for order competitiveness reinforcement of CM companies.
