Development of Shape Determination Program for Suspension Bridge Using Digital Image Processing (디지털 화상처리기법을 이용한 현수교의 형상결정기법 개발)

  • In this paper, it is presented a digital image processing method and the program (Visual C++) to determine the shape of the suspension bridge. To investigate the precision of this method, a suspension bridge is divided into 5, 13 and 19 images, respectively, by using the 6.3M pixels digital camera with 300mm zoom lens. Obtained results of the Kwang-Ahn Grand Bridge by using this method are fairly close to the real precision surveyed data. The accuracy is more improved by increasing the number of divided images of the structure. The total cost, man power and time of field survey by this method presented in this study could be much more reduced and the developed program could be applied with little modification for other structures like cable-stayed bridges, if lens compensation algorithms and program access capabilities are improved.

  • This paper is summarized for designing launch vehicle autopilot structure with attitude angle command from guidance algorithm and for evaluating performance of autopilot using launch vehicle six-degree of freedom simulation program. The suggested autopilot has heritage from KSR-III/KSLV-I upper stage autopilot designing experience, and it has two design point. The one is, it must have same performance with KSR-III/KSLV-I upper stage autopilot, the other is, it must be simple autopilot structure and use low number of variable to apply on-board system. It is evaluated the performance using launch vehicle six-degree of freedom simulation program in case of roll maneuvering and no roll control flight condition.

  • In this study, we developed a dispersion analysis program of the gas-generator cycle liquid propellant rocket engine by expanding the mode analysis software(GEMAT). The performance dispersions of an engine that are arisen from the internal dispersion factors of engine's sub-components were formulated and solved to find the effects of each dispersion factor. We were also able to present the calculation method to find the required pressure margin for the compensation of those dispersion to satisfy the required performances of engine. Using this method, we could propose a novel procedure of compensating during the ground firing test which would induce the performance improvement by lessening the pumps discharge pressures or augmenting the combustion chamber pressure.

  • This study deals with verifying the design feasibility, of an independently driving hydraulic system for disaster response purposes, through an analytical approach. The development target is a system in which four traveling motors are driven independently, and must be easy to operate even under conditions in which different loads are applied to the traveling motors. In order to be suitable for complex work, the hydraulic system was designed using the main control valve with a pressure compensation function. If we can develop an analytical model that reflects the specifications and functions of the parts through the analysis program, we can verify the validity of the design before we make the prototype. The purpose of this study therefore, is to verify the feasibility of designing an independent drive hydraulic system through the development of an analysis model from the viewpoint of complex work. The analysis program uses Simulation X.

When VMI with Consignment Brings Benefit to Supply Chain Members?

  • Purpose: This study intends to examine how VMI with consignment performs over time and find out its on-going impacts on the individual supply chain member's achievement. Research design, data, and methodology: This study formulates the mathematical model that represents two-stage supply chain system. By analyzing the numerical examples, this study compares VMI with consignment with the traditional system. Results: VMI with consignment eventually makes higher supply chain profit than the traditional system, even though it's early performance is poor. The influence of VMI with consignment on the performance of the supply chain member is distinct depending on the individual member and time. The consignment may not be helpful to increase the system profit, but it reduces the manufacturer's burden of costs. Conclusions: VMI with consignment improves the supply chain performance after all, and it still takes times until its benefit becomes fully realized. To be a successful collaboration program, VMI with consignment requires a carefully designed incentive scheme that provides the timely compensation to the individual supply chain members. This study also finds out that the consignment contract of this collaboration program plays a role of financially supporting the manufacturer at the early stage of its implementation.

Effects of duck farming restriction measures on the incidence of avian influenza

  • Duck farming restriction refers to a program in which duck farms suspend their operations for a certain period at times when the risk of avian influenza (AI) is high and receive compensation from the Korean government. This study analyzed the effect of this duck farming restriction on the incidence of AI using data on regional AI incidence rates, the program participation rate, and characteristics of poultry farming in 2016 (before the implementation of the restriction), as well as data from 2020 and 2021 (when new AI outbreaks occurred). In this study, the treatment group was divided into five subgroups according to the policy participation rate and a difference-in-difference (DID) estimation was conducted using certain covariates, in this case the average number of ducks raised, the land area, the number of high-susceptibility farms, the number of low-susceptibility farms, the average number of farms within a 3 km radius, the average distance to the nearest farm, and a year dummy. The results showed that when more than 30% of all duck farms in a region participated in the farming restriction, it had a statistically significant effect on the incidence of AI. Specifically, when more than 30, 40, 50, and 60% of all duck farms participated in the farming restriction, the AI incidence rate decreased by 0.7184, 1.0025, 1.5844, and 1.5843%p, respectively.

  • In total body irradiation (T81) for leukemia, we have a two methode. One is a AP (anterior-posterior) method and the other is a Lateral methode. Our hospital used lateral methode. T81 must consider about body contour, because of homogeneous dose distribution. For compensation about irregular body contour, we use compensator. For T81 treatment, we must be considered, accurate manufacture of compensator and accurate calculation of dose. We developed the automatic program for T81. This program accomplished for compensator design and dose calculation for irregular body. This program was developed for uses to use in a windows environment using the IDL language. In this program, it use energy data for each energy: TMR, output factor, inverse square law, spoiler, field size factor. This program reduces the error to happen due to the manual. As a development of program, we could decrease the time of treatment plan and care the patient accurately.

  • A new UPQC(unified power quality conditioner), which consists of series inverter, shunt inverter, dc/dc converter, and energy storage, is proposed. The proposing UPQC can compensate reactive power, harmonics, voltage sag and swell, voltage unbalance, and voltage interruption. The control strategy for the proposing UPWQC was derived using the instantaneous power method. The performance of proposing system was analyzed by means of the EMTDC/PSCAD simulation and the experimental work with the hardware prototype. The proposing UPQC has the ultimate capability of improving power quality at the point of installation on power distribution systems or industrial power systems and can be utilized for the custom power device in the future distribution system.

  • The cost of software maintenance occupies about two thirds in the software lifecycle. However, it is not easy to estimate the cost of software maintenance because of various viewpoints about software maintenance, unclear estimation methods, and complex procedures. Until now, the cost estimation model has used compensation factors for software characteristic and environment on the basis of program size. Especially, most of existing models use maintenance rate of total software cost as a main variable. This paper suggests the software maintenance cost estimation model that uses the result of calculating real maintenance efforts. In this paper, we classify functional maintenance and non-functional maintenance as software maintenance activity type. For functional maintenance, present function point of target software is needed to evaluate. The suggested maintenance cost evaluation model is applied to a software case in public sector. This paper discusses some differences between our model and other modes.

  • This paper describes a design methodology of a tri-axial silicon-based farce sensor with square membrane by using micromachining technology (MEMS). The sensor has a maximum farce range of 5 N and a minimum force range of 0.1N in the three-axis directions. A simple beam theory was adopted to design the shape of the micro-force sensor. Also the optimal positions of piezoresistors were determined by the strain distribution obtained from the commercial finite element analysis program, ANSYS. The Wheatstone bridge circuits were designed to consider the sensitivity of the force sensor and its temperature compensation. Finally the process for microfabrication was designed using micromachining technology.
